Warning Problems of Honda Pilot - part 1

My 2021 Honda Pilot displayed a u3000 diagnostic trouble code, indicating an internal electronic failure of the front-facing multipurpose camera that operates the vehicle's Honda sensing safety systems (collision mitigation braking system, lane keeping assist system, road departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control). As a result, these safety systems became inoperative. I took the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer, who confirmed the u3000 code and quoted approximately $2,000 to replace the camera unit. I have since learned this is a widely reported failure across multiple Honda and Acura models (pilot, odyssey, cr-v, accord, civic, hr-v, clarity, rdx, mdx) and is the subject of a proposed class action lawsuit alleging Honda knew of the defect and failed to disclose it or issue a recall. I am filing this report to document the failure and its safety impact.

A little after hitting 114000 miles, all the lights came on the dashboard: brake system, acc, lkas, automatic high beams, collision mitigation system. We had the battery checked and it is not the battery. All the camera sensors are clean… many other Honda Pilot owners have expressed this same problem online.

My 2019 Honda Pilot ex-l (perfectly maintained and with only 72k miles) just started displaying a "braking system" failure warning light along with dash notifications that a number of critical safety systems are no longer functioning, including: forward collision warning, automatic emergency breaking, lane keeping assistance and departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and more. The car registers a failure code of "u3000-49" which I've learned is related to a bad front camera - a problem apparently plaguing so many Honda vehicles like mine that there is now a class action lawsuit (jones, et al. V. American Honda motor CO. , inc. ) related to it. Given the lawsuit shows how pervasive this situation is, and the nature of the safety risks involved, I hope this issue will be elevated to a formal NHTSA safety recall along with reimbursement for repair expenses (mine will be about $1500).

I am filing this complaint because my 2019 Honda Pilot has developed a serious safety-related defect. When I started the vehicle, multiple warning lights remain on, including the lkas, acc, cmbs, and brake system warnings. I haven't had it inspected by the dealer yet, as the closest dealer is 25 miles away down a curvy mountain road. I expect that it will be determined that the front-facing camera has failed. Because this camera supports several driver-assistance and warning systems, the failure has made those systems unreliable and prevents the vehicle from accurately alerting me to other potential problems. This creates a significant safety concern because, if another malfunction occurs, I may not be able to distinguish it from the existing warnings. The warning lights remain active unless the camera is replaced at an estimated cost of $2,600. I do not believe owners should be responsible for such an expensive repair when the failure affects critical safety and warning functions. This issue appears to be recurring among 2019 Honda Pilots, with similar complaints reported by other owners online and in social media forums. I respectfully request that Honda investigate this defect and provide an appropriate remedy, including repair assistance or coverage for the failed camera system.

Warning lights for adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, collision mitigation, road departure, and auto high beam all came on simultaneously. From reading several Pilot forums, this seems to be very widespread and dealerships want anywhere between 1500 and 1900 to replace and calibrate the camera system which controls these functions. If it’s widespread, the vehicles should be recalled.

Monocular windshield camera premature part failure. 36160-tg8-a72-m1. Premature failure of the part causes all included safety systems to be disabled, and also negatively impacts standard cruise control. The part was sent for repair and the lens was thermally degraded as well as processor board non functional. There was no thermal paste installed on the processor. When the camera fails, an improper transmission failure warning light also appears on the dashboard, which prevents smog testing from being completed despite the camera system not impacting emissions at all.

I have a 2019 Honda Pilot touring with an intermittent fault. At apparently random intervals, I'll get the following faults on start: adaptive cruise control problem lane keeping assist problem collision mitigation system problem road departure mitigation system problem auto high-beam problem if I drive the car a couple of miles, there's a 50-50 chance I'll get them the next time the car starts. It's not throwing any fault codes. Had the oil changed, battery checked, cleaned the "h" sign to make sure it wasnt anything dirty on the radar.

I set out to make a quick trip to the store after work and the car was hesitating and I looked at the dash and noticed the check engine light was on. I stopped was in the store about 10 minutes when I came out I restarted it and it sounded fine and then engine light was not on. I was about 2 miles in towards home when the braking system failure message came on, steering failure message came on and many other messages. The engine started sounding very loud and knocking. I immediately pulled over and called a tow truck. I had no previous messages come up and the vehicle was running fine before this incident. The auto repair shop that I had it towed to listened to the engine and thinks it sounds like a crank shaft failure.

First of, there are a lot of Honda Pilot owners online who have the same exact complaints in Honda forums and social media. Windshield lane keep assist camera is malfunctioning. Adaptive cruise control, emissions systems, road departure system, auto high beam problem, lane keeping assist, collision mitigation system warning lights all come on. No previous warnings or failures prior. This started out of the blue and has been happening everyday for a few months now. This malfunction puts driver and passengers at risk.

There are three dangerous systems in my 2025 Honda Pilot ex-l that should be permanently disabled or removed by the manufacturer or dealer. In order of danger; (1) collision mitigation braking system, (2) auto idle stop, and (3) road departure mitigation system. All three of these systems have nearly caused wrecks for me several times. The collision mitigation braking system (1) is especially dangerous for rear-end collisions to the vehicle using cmbs. Example, I was driving in heavy traffic in the middle lane on I-40 near hermitage, tennessee on 23 Apr 2026 with adequate distance between me and the car in front of me. A tractor-trailer was close behind me. Suddenly, a car in the lane to my right moved into the gap in my lane between me and the car that was at a safe distance in front of me. The cmbs activated and started braking the car. I pressed the gas pedal hard to try and maintain my 70 mph speed to no avail. The tractor-trailer swerved into the lane to my left missing the rear of my car by inches, and avoiding a massive chain reaction collision of many cars. This was a near fatal event for me. Without cmbs, I would have simply held my speed steady until I could create a safe distance and ease into a safer position, possibly in the lane to my right, a much less eventful situation. The auto idle stop (2) has a knack for shutting off the engine when I am trying to make a left turn in heavy traffic. After several near misses, I have learned to turn this system off when starting the engine (the default is on). The road departure mitigation system (3) shakes the steering wheel if the system thinks you are moving out of your lane. It shakes the steering wheel to alert you. Twice, I was caught by surprise and overcorrected the steering when the road departure mitigation system started shaking the steering wheel. So instead of staying in my lane, this almost caused me to go out of my lane and possibly collide with another car or a road barrier.

Multiple warnings appear on the dashboard every time the vehicle is started, and the cruise control system has stopped functioning entirely. Adaptive cruise control cannot be disabled, preventing the use of standard cruise control. Dealer inspection indicates repairs costing thousands of dollars, often involving replacement of sensors, radar units, or wiring harnesses. No recall or service bulletin has been provided to address this widespread issue. Many Honda owners have reported identical failures on online forums and owner groups. The pattern suggests a systemic defect affecting Honda’s driver?assist safety systems across multiple models and years. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential safety defect affecting Honda vehicles. The failure of multiple collision?avoidance and lane?keeping systems at once poses a serious risk to drivers, passengers, and others on the road.

My current 2020 Pilot has presented a failure/ malfunction at the multipurpose camera in the front side resulting on the most important safety advance drivers assistance systems to not to work (collision mitigation system, road departure mitigation system, auto high beam, lane keeping assist, automative emergency breaking). This malfunction for this safety device could put at risk my family while driving since system got deactivated for no reason and will not respond to under unexpected situation while driving. I notice several messages on my dashboard then I confirmed safety componentes where bypassed and not activated not working properly. The problem was reporte at a dealer, then vehicle device was inspected and confirmed by the dealer that the safety multipurpose camera has a malfunction. Prior to the failure there were no messages or symptoms, just stops working without advice. Safety devices must he operative at all time, me vehicle is in very good condition and not more that 6 years old.

I leased this vehicle in oct2019 and then brought this vehicle and till date did 44710 miles and on 2/25 we had multiple warnings on the dashboard regarding lane assist failure, adaptive cruise control, break system failure, forward collision failure and many more warnings, we took it to Honda dealer to investigate and they said that he don’t monocular camera has to be replaced with a estimate cost of $2395, when searched online there are many customers of the 2019 model facing the same problem and are subjected to such high repair cost. I believe that this is a faulty part from Honda and needs to be recalled and fixed as this impacts critical safety functions.

Acc and road departure mitigation system would become disabled for no apparent reason. A message would display on the instrument panel that there is a problem, to see your dealer. Also, a collision mitigation braking system problem would display on the instrument panel with a brake system warning light. A display on the instrument panel would show an area to clean (Honda emblem on front grill). I tried to clean this area several times to no avail. The weather was clear and warm when this occurred. The system has returned to normal on its own.

My rear view camera went out and it is a $2,000 fix. Can this please be a recall? I know many others this has happened to as well.

The front camera is kicking a code of u3000-49 so now none of my safety features work nor is Honda 100% certain on how to fix his issue. I've spoken to Honda and no one can provide a clear answer. I'm not driving my car with my 2 small children because it's the only car I have and none of my safety features are working due to the damage from the front camera. I've been told by a glass service, it's likely due to heat damage as Honda's front camera are known for this. This could cause so many issue, especially since Honda isn't giving any feedback on how to correct this issue.

At roughly 90,000 miles the forward multipurpose camera has an internal failure and a lot of my safety features no longer work, such as road departure mitigation, auto high beams, lane keeping assist, collision avoidance, and adaptive cruise control. This is a very common problem amongst these vehicles and Honda should be responsible in fixing them.

Collision mitigation braking system camera failure indictions appeared in the dashboard control center. I took the vehicle to the Honda dealership who stated there is not an active recall and that this was not a covered expense. Out of caution because I have read of the system failues causing brake lock-up related to over 40 vehicular crashes and almost twice that number of injuries, I decided to immediately obtain this $2,000 repair. I contact Honda of America to start a claim for a goodwill reimbursement and they told me only (and repeatedly) that the vehicle was too old, out of warranty and that they would not consider reimbursement of the repair to this integrated and vital safety system. The national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) has documented 2,976 complaints involving unintended automatic braking in Honda vehicles, with 47 crashes and 93 injuries reported. These issues involve Honda vehicles equipped with camera-based collision mitigation braking systems similar to the one used in the 2017 Pilot. Because this failure involves a core safety system component, and because there -documented evidence of system-wide safety investigations -thousands of consumer complaints -shared safety technology across the Honda lineup I requested reimbursement from Honda America. They made zero effort to acknowledge this safety system fault and clearly stated they would not reimburse me nor would the customer service representative provide me with any guidance on how to further pursue the matter. Nhtsa complaints involving the 2017 Honda Pilot reference failures involving the collision mitigation braking system, lane keeping assist system, and adaptive cruise control warnings, all systems dependent on the same forward-facing camera architecture. Front multipurpose camera replacement was the final repair needed and not reimbursed.

Multiple problems flashing. Including cmbs problem, lane keeping assist problem, road departure warning, adaptive cruise control problem. The car also did an unexpected slow down while driving when there was no obstruction in front of me driving. This was a major safety issue as I could have been rear-ended.

This issue is widely reported across Honda Pilot, odyssey, cr-v, hr-v, and ridgeline forums, suggesting a systemic manufacturing defect. Honda has not issued a recall despite the safety-critical nature of these systems. The cost of replacing the multipurpose camera is very high and prohibited for many families.

The front windshield camera is causing the brake system error light to come on and triggering the safety system to malfunction. This failed camera system disables safety features and causes lane assist, cruise control , lighting features, back-up camera, driving assist, and the collision system to be disabled, causing a major safety concern. This front camera system has failed and has been diagnosed by the certified Honda dealer that my vehicle was purchased from. My vehicle is 4 years old and has 35k miles, and the system has failed. Each component was inspected and issues diagnosed by the dealer. The warning light first displayed on the dashboard and showed as a "brake system" error light. Under the break system error 6 errors displayed they read : 1) adaptive cruise control problem 2) lane keeping assist problem 3) collision mitigation system problem 4) road departure mitigation system problem 5) auto-high beam problem 6) transmission system problem.

All of the warning lights came on, cruise doesnt work. Dealership told me my camera in the wind shield stopped working. I was given a 2,1000$ estimate from harvest Honda in yakima, wa. My car had 84,000 miles on it. No impact to the windshield. It just stopped. I took it to mckinney glass to see if it could possibly be a calibration issue. They confirmed what the dealership told me. It’s defective.

My wife drives this vehicle daily with our 3 children all of sudden these warning lights come trailer stability assist problem road departure mitigation system problem power steering system problem emission system problem vehicle stability assist problem hill start assist problem the last time this happen was 1/28/2026 took it to the dealer 1/31/2026 showed the association the video he said he has not heard of this but mostly caused by the battery. They looked at the battery all is well. If it happens again to bring it in he said. This was the 3rd time this happens the warning lights will go off. Took it to auto zone and they could not find the caused. This is dangerous to happen and unacceptable. Based on social media multiple people have this issue and causinga safety concern. What would it take for Honda to fix this. Please make a recall!!.

Vehicle information: 2021 Honda Pilot elite component: forward collision avoidance: camera system lane departure: lane keeping assist advanced driver assistance systems (adas) failure description: the windshield-mounted forward-facing camera (lane keeping assist system / Honda sensing camera) failed without warning on my 2021 Honda Pilot elite. This camera is mounted behind the windshield and controls multiple advanced safety systems, including lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and collision mitigation braking. There were no warning lamps, dashboard messages, or other symptoms prior to the failure. The malfunction appeared randomly approximately one month ago. The issue was diagnosed and confirmed by an authorized Honda dealer service department. I was informed that the windshield-mounted camera system requires replacement and was quoted approximately $1,800 for the repair. Because this repair is extremely expensive and currently unaffordable, I have lost multiple critical safety features. The vehicle no longer has functioning lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, or related Honda sensing technologies. The sudden and complete loss of these safety systems significantly reduces vehicle safety and increases the risk of unintended lane departure or reduced collision avoidance capability for myself, my passengers, and others on the road. I believe a critical safety system should not fail without warning and should not be this costly to repair, especially when its failure disables multiple core safety features. This is a known issue across multiple threads and owners and Honda should take ownership and recall this issue. The vehicle and failed component are available for inspection upon request.

January 2026 multiple dashboard warning lights stating acc problem, lkas problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, and auto high-beam problem. 3/18/26 took vehicle into local Honda dealership where they ran diagnostics with the results showing the "multi purpose camera unit internal failure. " they checked wiring and connector which were ok so dealership is recommending replacement of camera and recalibration.

The windshield camera has malfunctioned causing 5 different safety warnings to appear and these functions are unavailable now. It has been evaluated by a dealership and they claim that it has to be replaced at a cost of $2100. This is a pretty widespread issue in these Pilots with varying mileage. I would expect much better from a Honda product.

Front camera sensor (behind rear view mirror) has failed prematurely therefore causing multiple dash lights to come on such as acc, lkas, collision mitigation system, brake system. Confirmed battery is not the issue as it is in great condition.

Problems started showing on car a week ago. Tested battery and it was not holding a charge. Replaced battery and problem still persisted. Car is now at dealership and they are quoting close to $2000 due to failure for internal windshield camera. Car has right over 78k miles. This is a safety issue.

All of the lights on the dash came on and the power steering stopped working while driving on the highway. I was in the number one lane and had to merge across four lanes to pull over with no power steering. I shut the car off and waited a few minutes. The lights were still on the dash but the power steering was working. This is the second time this has happened in the last two weeks.

Issue with the forward collision sensor, lane keep departure, and adaptive speed control. It has a mind of its own if it works or not. Some times it working then while drive the warnings and dings start going off while driving. There isn't a way to use cruise control if there is an issue with the system.

After driving my car from the dealer after purchase all the safety features have warning lights on the dash. Break system error ,electric power steering problem ,road departure mitigation problem, collision mitigation problem, lane keep assist problem, adaptive cruise control problem, tsa problem, hill start assist problem, vsa problem, abs problem, electric parking brake problem. Its seems like all of the safety features are not working. I took the car to the dealer and said it was just a battery issue, they went ahead and replace the battery but it was still the same, all the error message came out soon after driving from the dealer service department. After that they said they will replace the speed wheel sensor. I got my car back hopefully that resolved the issues. This cars should not pass qc, this problem happened right after driving the vehicle of the dealer lot after purchase.

Emissions system problem- unknown reason.

Failed component: lane departure system camera - Honda (p/n 36160-tg8-a51). This camera has completely failed which completely shuts down the following safety systems in this Honda Pilot: adaptive cruise control forward collision warning lane departure warning lane keeping assistance it also fully disables the cruise control system. I have attempted to have this repaired at our Honda dealership - but parts are on backorder without a known delivery time.

Camera unit failure causing failure of safety systems and resultant safety issues.

Multiple lights, for acc, lane departure, forward collision warning, and lane keeping assistance system. None of the systems works. Safety of myself and others put at risk due to systems not working and preventing collision. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. Multipurpose camera not operating, required replacement of camera for systems to operate.
