I set out to make a quick trip to the store after work and the car was hesitating and I looked at the dash and noticed the check engine light was on. I stopped was in the store about 10 minutes when I came out I restarted it and it sounded fine and then engine light was not on. I was about 2 miles in towards home when the braking system failure message came on, steering failure message came on and many other messages. The engine started sounding very loud and knocking. I immediately pulled over and called a tow truck. I had no previous messages come up and the vehicle was running fine before this incident. The auto repair shop that I had it towed to listened to the engine and thinks it sounds like a crank shaft failure.

While operating the vehicle in reverse at a low speed (under 5 mph), the advanced driver assistance system (adas) failed to provide any audible or visual alerts regarding a stationary vehicle positioned directly behind my path. The vehicle is equipped with a rearview video system and rear proximity/parking sensors, both of which were active. ?despite a clear line of sight and the secondary vehicle being a standard passenger car, the sensors did not "ping" or trigger an emergency brake/alert, resulting in a rear-end collision. The sensors and camera lens were clean and free of debris at the time of the incident. This represents a failure of the safety system to perform its primary function of obstacle detection in a standard backing scenario, posing a significant risk for back-over incidents involving pedestrians or other vehicles.

While driving the right center forward collision warning "approaching object" came on with 4 red bars for no reason, repeatedly. Additionally a warning saying "low speed braking control problem. Parking sensor obstructive" came on intermittently. Upon returning home I noticed that two sensors had become dislodged and fallen into the bumper. They appear to only have been held on by double sided tape. There are no obvious signs of impact, I have not had any collision, and the vehicle was purchased new. The failure appears to be one of the following 3 potential issues: 1) it could possibly be a very poor design choice, by Honda, to tape the parking sensors onto the vehicle. I don't understand why the mounting was not engineered to be injection molded as part of the lower garnish. That would easily reduce the vehicle parts count. 2) it may also be a poor decision in materials by the manufacturer. Honda may have specified an inferior adhesive that is incapable of sustaining the forces involved, or not capable of withstanding the exterior climate. 3) least likely, but still possible, is the possibility that Honda's trusted retail partner, conicelli Honda 19428, sold me a car with pre-existing damage that was not disclosed. A malfunctioning safety systems is dangerous to both the driver, other vehicles, and human life. Not only are the excessive malfunctioning notification a distraction to the driver, if a child was to run out in front of the vehicle, the vehicle would not recognize them and they could be hurt. Additionally if it triggers any other safety features such as automatic breaking, it could cause accident, especially if multiple vehicles in the road are experiencing the same issue. I look forward to a resolution.

The car's steering wheel got locked out and air bags came out suddenly while car is still moving on the road and driver blocked and not able to do anything and hit the parked car on the street due to car's system malfunction. Since incident happened in the housing community area with speed 20-25 miles and not majorly hit anyone but reported to and inspected by city police inspected. This was the first time this situation happed and however, had other incidents with the car auto feature malfunction, when stop on the red signal and suddenly the card shutdown with lot of beeps. This mentioned to the service center where normally go for servicing activities like oil change etc.

During the most recent weather, light snow, the sensor on the front of the car ices over and disables many of the safety features while driving. The driver will get a caution alert on the dash that says "some" safety features "may" be disabled. However, there is no information about which ones or why. This particular issue has happened multiple times in inclement weather. Also I know it's a problem as while in the dealership many were calling asking g about why this was happening. It is a danger to drivers. If they heated the "h" emblem, where the radar sensor is, it would not be a problem. I have included photos of the dash at the time along with photos of the emblem iced over and the general conditions outside at the time, very light snow.
Brake warning, sign.
Backup camera shows distorted colors and no longer usable to identify objects in the rear of the vehicle. Additionally all backup sensors no longer activated when objects are behind the vehicle. Since there are massive blind spots behind the vehicle this is an accident waiting to happen. This was observed by dealership and recommended that the camera be replaced at owner expense. Still pending fix due to cost. This appears to be a common problem with 2019 Honda Pilot models.
Popping sounds through speakers and then infotainment screen goes black. No camera no sensors. Nothing.
We own two Hondas. On December 18, 2024 someone stole the radar senders from both vehicles. I takes a little over a minute to steal these. The Honda dealer states that Honda corp has offered no solution. Beyond expense this negates the cars high tech safety features which makes the vehicle unsafe to drive per the numerous warning that flash on the dash board. As you can understand, there is no effective way to stop this safety defect from reoccurring. The solution may be an encrypted design for the sensor, that only works on the car it was installed on. Police report cannot be made until we know the accurate repair cost.
Four warning lights have been on for the past week. Brought it to Honda for diagnosis and repair, and they state that the multi-purpose camera has failed and will need to be replaced at a cost of $1,900. This is seems like a huge safety issue and, after reading several forums, appears to be a global issue.

Infotainment screen goes blank all the time. Nothing at all on the screen including back up camera. Now it is causing the other sensors not to work so you don't know if you are close to hitting something. Honda has had this issue now for years.
The infotainment screen was black and not working at all so no back up camera. Also all the sensors warning you that you are getting to close to hitting something stopped working.
The infotainment system has some major wiring issues that cause the screen to go black and disconnect which then renders the back up camera useless. There is a potential class action lawsuit over this issue. Lots of Honda Pilot owners have this same issue.
On going issues with 2019 Hondas and their reverse cameras dying after warranty expires. Lots of complaints, not associated to cable recalls. Documented history of color on backup camera going sepia/florescent. Previous complaints to NHTSA made.
During the last week, alerts would appear on my dash from the collision mitigation braking system and road departure mitigation system. These alerts will appear while driving at 30mph on a city street. When the alerts appear, the brakes are activated and the steering wheel locks up. The alerts immediately clear but it is very alarming to the driver and passengers. Yesterday while parallel parking, in the mist of reversing into the parking space, the systems triggered alerts along with a transmission alert. The system immediately put the vehicle into park and would not permit the change of gears. While halfway in the parking spot with the front of the vehicle sticking out into on coming traffic, I was forced to completely turn the vehicle off, wait about 3 minutes before turning it back on. This allowed me to complete parking the vehicle in the spot.
About a month ago my car started acting like it didn't want to restart at traffic lights when the auto idle kicked in. One time to completely did not restart on a major highway and I had to completely turn the car off then back on again. Then last week I tried to get into my car and multiple components had stopped working: my keyless entry, blind spot sensor, parking sensor, entertainment system, back up camera, lane keeping assist, etc. I tried taking it to a mechanic and they could not figure out what the problem was. I tried replacing the battery and the car is still stuck in this mode. I have it at a dealership now and they are trying to determine what the problem is.

The instrument panel blacks out and does not display critical information such as engine oil pressure radio goes out speedometer goes out rear camera goes out. There was a recall t89 but Honda says my VIN does not come up under the recall even though it is the same issue. This is an intermittent problem. Everything will be working and then while driving it blacks out. The black could last hours. Unable to get navigation. Then when it comes back on the panel light up with engine light warning brake warning low gas warning even though tank is full traction control light comes on these warning lights will come on and after a few minutes go out.
The backup camera image is distorted and the coloring is wrong (green and purple) and you cannot see the image from the camera. When researching online, there are numerous reports of 2019 Honda Pilot with similar issues. This situation happens when moving in reverse when the backup camera is on.
The radio and all audio functions (including hand free communication) will stop working and making a constant static noise. The issue make noise the entire time. It is distracting and I cannot communicate using handsfree technology. This vehicle was diagnosed by a master technician at Acura(dealer at which it was purchase) as needing a new audio unit. The issue just began a few weeks ago. I've read multiple forums of owners the same make and model having the same issue. . Read more...
The infotainment system that controls all audio and backup cameras to the car has been malfunctioning for years. The problem is the system will shut it self off and remain non functional for long periods of time then will turn itself back on at anytime. The dealer (with aid from Honda field service tech) have evaluated the car multiple times and addressed the issue. Each time the same issue return. There has been multiple recalls for the issue and they have all been addressed but then the problems always return. While the system is down no audio feature of the car is available such as audible backup warning, audible collision warnings etc.
2021 Honda Pilot black edition with 37,007 miles. Navigation screen will display "network communication lost" and "most net off" before completely shutting down for 5-10 minutes at a time, only to do the same thing after resetting. This is a known issue for Honda, hence technical service bulletin 20-058 to cover a range of vehicles, including my 21 Pilot; most older covered vehicles are at 5 years 60k miles, but because my vehicle is newer, it isn't covered and is limited to 3 years 36k miles. I am having to pay out of pocket for these repairs. Contacted Honda and they couldn't help, stating my vehicle is out of warranty. It makes no sense to cover older vehicle but not a newer one when these issues are known and reported under TSB 20-058. Honda complaint case # 13646867.
When car stops due to auto idle it then stalls and gos into neutral shutting of engine completely with collision warning coming up. Then have to shut car off , put into park before it struggles to restart. I have documented on 2 other occasions with NHTSA and to be honest if I was to document this every time you would have 100’s of reports from me. This vehicle is dangerous due to auto idle. I try to over ride it if I remember but that’s not always the case. I have taken it to hoehn Honda in carlsbad CA multiple times but to no avail can they fix it. As a consumer I’m trying my best to take safety seriously as this car will kill someone. When will Honda or the goverment take this seriously. The defect in this car the auto idle needs to be looked at or recalled.
Instrument cluster goes blank, audio unit goes black, back up camera & sensors not working at times. My audio unit was replaced on 5/10/21, after experiencing these system for several months. The new display audio 39540-tg7-a42rm worked approximately 2 weeks before symptoms started appearing again, with the most severe popping sound that occurred 7/07/22. Display was sluggish for about a week, then a loud startling popping sound came from inside the dash while driving on the highway yesterday, followed by a crack under the right navigation vent trim. The display turned black, tried to reboot, & was very sluggish, and slow to respond. Then the engine transmission jumped, while this is all going on. I was on the highway, and thought I was going to crash, due to my vehicle losing function. The vehicle “jumped” like the transmission was slipping, so much so, that I thought my car was going to lose control. I had to turn around to head home fearing I could lose control of my vehicle, as the navigation display would freeze at times. Today, the display will boot up slowly, with just the lower left corner only, then slowly returning to normal. This happens when I start my car each time, and sometimes while I am driving. I have also noticed that the transmission will slip out of park to neutral at times, when I push the button to park, then rolls forward. I’ve been to kunes country Honda numerous times, of which they say there is no fix. I currently have an appointment for 7/12/22 that I made last week before it actually popped so bad, because it was sluggish, and before that, I could tell it was a huge issue because now it is sluggish every time I start my vehicle. My understanding is that Honda will only replace this unit with the same, defective unit. This is an unacceptable alternative. I still have an extended warranty on my car for 9,000 miles. I am currently thinking its the module now.
Loud popping and crackling noise emitting from speakers. Cannot turn them off, and causes major interruptions in navigation, radio, entertainment. Dealer said falkra wiring is faulty, but is back-ordered, and could not even give us an estimate of when it would arrive. Essentially told us to suck it up, but it is more than distracting (my daughter actually said it gives her a headache) and I'm worried about larger (safety) issues if the wiring is indeed faulty. What if my other electrical systems malfunction as well?.
The infotainment system malfunctions and back-up camera doesn't work. The entire system concerning the safety features doesn't work when the infotainment system malfunctions. We have taken our car to have the issue repaired multiple times, but nothing the dealership has done has provided a permanent fix. This happens sporadically whether the car is stationary or in movement. This has been ongoing since we purchased the car in January 2019.
