37 Warnings problem of the 2023 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 01/25/2025

If there is rain, snow, fog, moisture or salt from the roads builds up or collects on the emblem of my Pilot, I get a warning saying something to the effect of “ some driver assist systems cannot operate clean area shown”. This is quite dangerous when you live in the midwest snowbelt. You can’t always pull over and clean it. The system will repeat the message even after acknowledging the issue, if it clears itself or improves, which is equally alarming.

38 Warnings problem of the 2025 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 12/13/2024

We own two Hondas. On December 18, 2024 someone stole the radar senders from both vehicles. I takes a little over a minute to steal these. The Honda dealer states that Honda corp has offered no solution. Beyond expense this negates the cars high tech safety features which makes the vehicle unsafe to drive per the numerous warning that flash on the dash board. As you can understand, there is no effective way to stop this safety defect from reoccurring. The solution may be an encrypted design for the sensor, that only works on the car it was installed on. Police report cannot be made until we know the accurate repair cost.

39 Warnings problem of the 2023 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 12/03/2024

I have a 2023 Honda Pilot elite. I have noticed a few times that the driver assist system doesn't work as intended during driving in snow or just rain. I will get an error message on my dash, "some driver assist systems cannot operate, clean area shown. " Honda wants the driver to pull over and clean the snow off of the h in front of the SUV. This also happens when it's raining and no snow. The driver assist sensors must be located there. What happens if I should get in an accident when this malfunction goes off and I get hurt or even kill someone? I see this complaint all over the internet from us owners on different forums. The dealerships are doing nothing. I paid a lot of money for this SUV. I expect it to work at all times, especially the safety features. .

42 Warnings problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 10/01/2024

Upon startup I frequently get the following warnings: -collision mitigation system problem -road departure mitigation system problem -adaptive cruise control problem -lane keeping assist problem -braking system error all mechanical systems work fine but cruise control and all of the “Smart” safety features don’t work. A simple google search will show hundreds of owners experiencing the same problem with this generation as well as odysseys that likely use the same system. Dealers want $1700-$2000 to replace the forward facing camera. However, this is clearly a defective part from Honda and they need to recall and fix it.

43 Warnings problem of the 2025 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 09/20/2024

This is an update to my previous entry regarding my 2025 Honda Pilot. The car dealership brought the Pilot back to us in February, 2025, stating there was nothing more they could do and told us it was unfixable. From February until current, we continue to experience the same safety concerns: we will be driving it on the highway, going 70 mph, the Pilot brakes hard to half its speed, and all safety features are disabled. Every single time we drive it. We are left with only the gas and brakes. It will randomly come back to full function, sometimes it takes 15 minutes, sometimes it's 45 minutes. This occurs in clear weather where nothing is blocking the radar. We are fearful that it's only a matter of time before we get hit from behind. There is no way to disengage the adaptive cruise control in this vehicle and have standard cruise control. Honda has stated that it is not "unsafe enough" for them to help us. I never imagined I would spend this kind of money on a new vehicle and be fearful of driving it. And that there is no solution to fix it. They took our money and have been completely unethical.

44 Warnings problem of the 2017 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 09/13/2024

When engine goes idle during the brief traffic stop, collision mitigation warning shows on and goes off quickly, sometimes causes the engine to not turn on during the times. Problem is so intermittent and hard to track as it is random behaviour and comes on for milli seconds in terms of warning on the dash board.

45 Warnings problem of the 2019 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 09/05/2024

My whole dashboard is lit up high beams lane keeping assistance break system go’s off , seatbelt warning, my high beams this puts my safety at risk as my passengers. I have had this diagnosed by my mechanic. It came up on the computer that it is the front camera that is making this all happen. I told the Honda dealership they say there’s no recall? they said I would have to get it diagnosed for $260. I’ve already had that done. At the time I took it in for a recall on the fuel pump modulator also the back up camera cables, which they fixed.

46 Warnings problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/31/2024

My car started stating that 6 systems were having problems. The adaptive cruise control system, automatic high beam system, blind spot information system, road departure mitigation system, collision mitigation system, and lane keep assist system. I took the car to the Honda dealer it was purchased from and was informed that the technician found that the multipurpose camera was not working and needed to be replaced. The component that failed is the multipurpose camera. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk because the following 6 safety systems stopped working. Adaptive cruise control system, automatic high beam system, blind spot information system, road departure mitigation system, collision mitigation system, and lane keep assist system. The problem has been diagnosed by the dealer. I don't know if this component has been inspected. There were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms prior to the failure. The car was just at the dealership the previous month for the annual state inspection and nothing was noted by the dealership. I was driving when suddenly the component failed and I was notified that the 6 safety systems were no longer working.

47 Warnings problem of the 2017 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/05/2024

During the last week, alerts would appear on my dash from the collision mitigation braking system and road departure mitigation system. These alerts will appear while driving at 30mph on a city street. When the alerts appear, the brakes are activated and the steering wheel locks up. The alerts immediately clear but it is very alarming to the driver and passengers. Yesterday while parallel parking, in the mist of reversing into the parking space, the systems triggered alerts along with a transmission alert. The system immediately put the vehicle into park and would not permit the change of gears. While halfway in the parking spot with the front of the vehicle sticking out into on coming traffic, I was forced to completely turn the vehicle off, wait about 3 minutes before turning it back on. This allowed me to complete parking the vehicle in the spot.

48 Warnings problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/31/2024

Normal driving of vehicle when suddenly several warning lights began to appear and show up every time when driving (lkas, acc, mitigation, etc) despite these features working. Honda dealership claims it is due to a faulty front camera. Safety at risk because if these systems do fail, there will be no way of indicating.

49 Warnings problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/28/2024

I was traveling with my daughters [xxx] , and [xxx] , in the back seat. It started raining heavy just as I passed a vehicle and returned to the right lane. I reduced my speed, then felt the vehicle hydroplane slightly and felt the traction control system engaged. As soon as the traction control icon displayed, I began to feel the traction slipping and noticed a slight unresponsiveness in the steering. My speed suddenly dropped 15-20 mph, without braking, or any change in pressure on the accelerator. I then tried to accelerate, but was unable to possibly because of loss of traction I noticed the traction light was flashing. The vehicle I had just passed moments before was quickly approaching at roughly 65 mph (speed limit was 70 mph) and had no warning of the issue with my vehicle decelerating, luckily they were paying attention and able to pass safely. When they passed, I pulled off the road and had these warnings on the screen: - collision mitigation braking system. Cmbs problem. - lane keeping assist problem. - road departure mitigation system problem. I placed the vehicle in park, shut it off, then restarted it. The error messages went away, then came back on as soon as I started driving. The traction control light remained off and the rain subsided, but the warnings remained. Dealership is supposed to inspect Wednesday 07/31/24. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

51 Warnings problem of the 2019 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

The vehicle experiences a persistent stutter/hesitation while driving, which is especially pronounced during acceleration from a stop or at low to moderate speeds. This condition occurs consistently during normal operation and is not a one-time or intermittent event. The hesitation creates a safety concern when accelerating from intersections, merging into traffic, or maintaining smooth vehicle speed. The vehicle feels as though power delivery is interrupted or unstable during acceleration. Multiple warning lights are present. Dealer diagnostics confirmed permanent communication-related fault codes, including can bus communication errors and camera/radar-related safety system failures. These fault codes return after clearing and coincide with the drivability hesitation. During inspection, a transmission fluid service was discussed; however, no transmission-specific fault codes were identified. The drivability hesitation has continued alongside the documented electronic and communication-related faults. The issue has been inspected and documented by a dealership. No crash, fire, or injury has occurred, but the condition remains unresolved and continues to affect drivability and safety-related systems.

52 Warnings problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 04/27/2024

My vehicle activates cmbs randomly. There doesn't even have to be cars around me and it'll just lock me up in the middle of the road. I have almost been rear-ended several times now. The dealers won't do anything about it.

53 Warnings problem of the 2019 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 04/20/2024

All electrical systems failed at once due to a malfunction in the front camera-sudden failure with no damage to the vehicle physically. Honda refuses to fix or honor the issue. A recall should be required due to the vast amounts of complaints on the same issues. This should not be a financial responsibility on the owner.

54 Warnings problem of the 2016 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 04/17/2024

Honda Pilot has multiple warning lights problem. I am an extremely normal and safe driver. However, the warning sign turns on and off again and again. Parking collision warning, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, emissions system problem this happens frequently when turning on the engine or while driving. Even there have been no accidents, no electrical changes, and even the battery was recently replaced. So I went to an auto shop and had it repaired. The car shop also said that there are too many Honda cars with this symptom. However, even after several days, the same symptoms are recurring. Sometimes it's on and sometimes it's off and it's a mess. It's all directly related to safety, so I feel very stressed every time I drive. If a safety warning light comes on while driving, the driver becomes anxious and doubts safety. I google the forum(piloteers. Org) and found that there were so many drivers experiencing the same symptoms as me, and they were all seriously concerned and threatened about safety. This symptom has continued since this spring. It's stressful every time I turn on the engine. I don't understand why a car that I paid many dollars for has such safety issues. We respectfully request an official problem resolution and recall from Honda.

55 Warnings problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 04/12/2024

The recurring malfunctions in my vehicle's front screen system have repeatedly endangered me, especially when it suddenly blacks out while navigating unfamiliar roads or during backing maneuvers. Additionally, the faulty front vehicle sensor has caused my vehicle to halt abruptly, even when no obstacles are present. Despite numerous visits to the dealer, the issues persist, and their repeated requests to bring it in have yielded no solutions. Since purchasing the vehicle new in 2020, these persistent safety concerns have become increasingly dangerous as they are getting worse. I have attempted to contact Honda with no resolution.

56 Warnings problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Collision mitigation system proble.

57 Warnings problem of the 2017 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 03/22/2024

Over the past couple months, while driving the collision mitigation braking system would activate for no reason. As of 2 weeks ago, now my collision mitigation braking system does not work and on the dashboard display it shows collision mitigation system problem. I have read on multiple Honda boards and general internet search on this issue, many people are having the same issue. This issue has been affecting people for maybe 5 years. I’m wondering why this is not a safety recall for the Honda vehicles.

58 Warnings problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 03/18/2024

On 3/18/24 I started my car on a routine after school pickup trip but my notification system started blinking with different sensor problems. I took pictures of the display and tried to drive my car and saw at the time it did not affect drivability. I made an appointment with my dealer and brought it in 3/25/24. I started researching if there might be a pattern with other Honda Pilots and did find some discussion boards about 2020/2021 Honda Pilot that had a similar event—sensor problems displaying for no evident triggering event. I brought my car in for the appointment and the advisor said they would run a diagnostic as well as address 2 active recalls on my Pilot and take care of the maintenance. The diagnostic test showed that I have a faulty front multi purpose camera that must be replaced. Ny car has about $70k miles so it is outside the warranty period so I am having to pay for this repair myself. Note: the active recall that was repaired at this same visit was an issue with wiring in the rear camera. I asked the advisor if it was possible that the camera issues were related even though they were different cameras and he said at the moment there were no recalls for the multipurpose camera so he could not say. I am submitting this claim to document a possible safety concern that should be covered under a recall. Other incidents noted: when advisor asked if I had experienced any issues starting car, I did mention that last summer appx. Aug 2023 at a stop light my car went in idle mode (auto start/stop function) but when I took my foot off brake to go on green light the car did not restart. I had to get my key and push it into the ignition button to restart it. This has happened 2 since I’ve had the car. With all the recalls and these auto stop/start issues, I have experienced lower confidence & satisfaction in my Honda Pilot, but I am worried that safety may be an issue as well.

59 Warnings problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 02/19/2024

Phantom braking from the cmbs collision avoidance system. It occurs randomly and applies brakes when the road is clear. The amount of braking varies from a partial second to more severe. This will cause an accident.

60 Warnings problem of the 2024 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 02/07/2024

1: all system warnings on to include auto lights and brake system warning (there were at least 10 warnings) - auto lights stopped working 2: car would not turn off - needed to press shut off button up to 10 times 3. Remote start started car and then would not shut off and locked us out of the car - was unable to get in with key fobs for over 45 minutes, finally used emergency key in the fob and somehow the back door opened and we climbed through to turn off car.

61 Warnings problem of the 2017 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 02/03/2024

Auto engine idle continues to be problematic. Leaving me stranded in intersections and unable to restart my vehicle for minutes. Today when it happened it turned off my collision detection feature. I have taken to dealership several times, once they replaced fuel injectors due to related recall but since they show no issues.

62 Warnings problem of the 2024 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 01/16/2024

Today, the same problem with my car reemerged immediately after I collected it from the dealership, where it was supposedly repaired for this issue. Upon driving away, making three stops, and using both the brake hold and engine idle-stop features, I encountered the same malfunction, leading to the flashing of all warning indicators. Alarmingly, the parking brake engaged on its own at traffic signals, and the car wouldn't turn off even when this issue was occurring. Previously, I had provided the dealership with a detailed description and photos of this issue. They identified the cause as an improperly installed rear wheel speed sensor, which they claimed to have fixed and reset the error codes. However, the problem persisted right after I retrieved the car. I immediately returned the vehicle to the dealership. The car was still not turning off, and while they noted the issue, I am skeptical about their technical ability to diagnose and solve the problem effectively. I urge Honda to promptly address this issue in collaboration with the dealership and to initiate recalls to prevent potential severe accidents. To replicate the issue, toggle both the brake hold and engine idle-stop features in various combination, and drive at a speed of 35-40 mph with 4-5 stops of around 30 seconds each toggle combination. When the issue reproduces, all the warning messages will illuminate, and the parking brake will engage automatically. I suspect the drive controller getting reset due to some electrical tripping when brake hold and/or engine-idle stop is toggled which is causing a cascade of failures.

63 Warnings problem of the 2024 Honda Pilot

65 Warnings problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 12/27/2023

In late December of 2023, our 2020 Honda Pilot began showing a "brake system" warning light, as well as numerous dashboard warnings indicating that automatic cruise control, lane keeping assist, collision mitigation, automatic high beam, and lane departure were not functioning properly. Our local Honda dealer diagnosed the vehicle as having a multipurpose camera failure. There were no accidents or damage of any sort that preceded this incident, and replacement of this camera cost us nearly $2000 out of pocket (invoice attached). . Read more...

66 Warnings problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 10/16/2023

The infotainment system that controls all audio and backup cameras to the car has been malfunctioning for years. The problem is the system will shut it self off and remain non functional for long periods of time then will turn itself back on at anytime. The dealer (with aid from Honda field service tech) have evaluated the car multiple times and addressed the issue. Each time the same issue return. There has been multiple recalls for the issue and they have all been addressed but then the problems always return. While the system is down no audio feature of the car is available such as audible backup warning, audible collision warnings etc.

67 Warnings problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 10/02/2023

The sensors alerted me to brake in an emergent flash and then slammed the brakes - when there was nothing in front of me. It happens when the car is going faster than 45 mph. It has happened on three separate occasions and the third time almost caused an accident on a two lane road traveling 55 mph.

69 Warnings problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/18/2023

On Friday, August 18th, 2023, I started up my 2021 Honda Pilot ex and all safety system warning lights (acc, lkas, cbws, etc) came on. I called metro Honda montclair and a service advisor asked me to bring the car in to them as soon as possible. I asked if it was safe to drive, and he said I honestly do not know, but if you can drive it, I advise you to take the slow lane and avoid the freeway. They kept my car over the weekend, and on Monday August 21st, 2023, dealer diagnosed the problem as a defective multi-purpose camera. These cameras are on back order until October. They said multiple codes came in in the diagnostic but they will have to start with this. I asked if I can safely drive the vehicle since the brake system light is on, and they said "honestly we cannot tell you that it is safe, it could be something minor, or something indicating a bigger problem. The first time this happened, it turned on, and off, and the dealer couldn't duplicate it, they told me to bring it back when it happened again, and now the "problem with acc, lkas, cms, brake system, etc. , these are the messages currently in the screen: "road departure mitigation problem", "auto-high beam problem", collision mitigation system problem", "lane keeping assist problem" "adaptive cruise control problem", etc. , all these warning messages keep popping up and does not turn off. Honda should fix this at no charge since it impacts safety related functionality. Also, there is a water leak from under the steering wheel, water lands on my foot and in the front seats floor mats when I wash my car. Robert with metro Honda montclair said they couldn't duplicate this issue. I have pictures of all the dashboard warning messages. I showed them to the service technician. They suggested I look for alternate transportation until my car is fixed, but I do not have other vehicle and I have to transport my kids to 3 different schools, and drive to/from work daily. My car only has 20,028 miles.

70 Warnings problem of the 2022 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 06/26/2023

For the past year and a half, I have had issues with the forward collision warning and emergency braking systems. I get false warnings to "brake" when there are no other cars around. I have also had the car brake for no reason - one time, we were on the interstate, the emergency braking system engaged and it pulled us to the side of the road. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership numerous times and they cannot get it to reproduce. It happens sporadically and there isn't anything I can do to reproduce the issue either. I fear this will happen when a car is too close, or, living in wisconsin, that the brakes will engage when driving on snow and/or ice. It has happened at 10 mph up to 75 mph.
