This is the first time I had to replace the transmission at 65867 miles on it, well I was driving down to the street one day and then it's started to slip in. The contact owns a 1999 Honda Prelude. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact became aware that the failure was due to the ignition switch. The contact replaced the part himself. 3 Power Train problem of the 1997 Honda Prelude

Failure Date: 06/28/2019

I bought this car used and have had good luck with Honda's in the past but about 300 miles of me owning this vehicle I was entering a freeway when all of a sudden I lost all power with cars going highway speed behind me I had to pull off to the shoulder luckily there was one there the first time it gave out but later on that drive going home I was driving over a bridge with traffic when it did it again I was so scared because I'm stuck in a line of traffic on a bridge and the car wants to roll back and it didn't want to turn on until it cooled down which was 30 minutes of ugly looks of cars driving by me when I finally got home I had never felt so relieved so that's when I told my father about it we looked at it drive it and he hoped it was just a bad ignition coil so we changed that but after doing some research online I saw that this was a very common problem with cars transmission so I dig a little bit more and found out that Honda knew about this problem but only is honoring the 2000 year models and up under warranty which is really unfair because one they knew there automatic transmissions were weak and it could of cost me my life twice! so I'm taking the time to stand up for all of us because no one deserves to be hurt or fatally wounded by a poorly made transmission.

4 Power Train problem of the 2001 Honda Prelude

Failure Date: 03/06/2019

Takata recall any time I put my car in d4 (automatic) it gets to about 2500 rpm to 3000 rpm in 1st then I have to message the throttle so it will shift and once it shifts to 2nd it starts shifting very quickly no matter the rpms to 3rd then 4th. Also when it's shifting it jerks pretty violently.

5 Power Train problem of the 1998 Honda Prelude

Failure Date: 04/12/2016

Honda recall Honda parts defective or poor workmanship. Honda dealership in jasper, alabama is not honoring replacement of known defective parts on my 1998 Honda Prelude. The following includes known defective automatic transmission, known defective ignition module/switch/ignition interlock systems. All three have failed completely and or are in the process of failing. My vehicle is unsafe it cuts off while driving down the road sometimes not restarting. The key will switch to off position and come out while the gear shift lever is not in park with the e-brake not pulled. My car is experiencing all the faults stated in numerous reports on this website and in Hondas own recalls. I have done extensive research and hundreds off people suffer from these same problems that Honda will not acknowledge is faulty/defective/has poor workmanship on the 1997-1998 models. There own negligence has allowed many affected year model parts to be installed, they are refusing to honor stated warranty printed in all owners manuals. A investigation for these model years are needed as it is costing people thousands of out of pocket dollars to this very day including myself along lost wages. Vehicle break downs not allowing to make it to work. I also expect to be reimbursed for all costs out of pocket from said faults which I bet Honda shall not even though its stated they will in there warranty and owners manuals for 1997-1998 Honda Prelude. I have included attachments of multiple cases further reiterating this is indeed a defect and or poor workmanship of these vehicles and said parts. As a note my 1998 Honda Prelude has less than 190,000 miles on all the original equipment that is failing so mileage can be taken out of the equation as most vehicles never experience this amount of problems and multiple failures of this magnitude in that window. I'm calling in the lemon law if applicable.

Failure Date: 09/04/2009

The sportshift automatic transmission m6ha in my 1999 Honda Prelude started to slip and while going down the freeway the car lost all power to the wheels and would just rev up the engine when I pressed the gas pedal down and would not move the car while in all drive gears. It cost me $2,396. 75 to get my Honda Prelude's sportshift automatic transmission m6ha replaced at a transmission shop while I was out on a family vacation trip to arizona.
