A sudden unintended acceleration resulted in a crash 1-08-2020 at 6:55 am. This occurred while pulling into a parking space. While breaking the vehicle head lights went out, engine rpm suddenly increased dramatically causing vehicle to strike light pole, which fell to the side of vehicle. The contact owns a 2006 Honda Ridgeline. While driving approximately 50 mph, another vehicle crashed into the rear driver side of the contact's vehicle. The contact's vehicle suddenly accelerated out of control and crashed into a guardrail. The contact stated that the brakes were engaged, but failed to respond as the vehicle continued to accelerate against the guardrail for up to one mile. The air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle stopped after being turned off. A police report was filed an no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed and repaired; however, the diagnosis was unknown. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 134,000.
