The torque converter is failing therefore causing the vehicle and pedal to pulsate rapidly. This is a recall for the exact truck we have, just not for our VIN which I do not understand.

The transmission lost power on the highway. Whit smoke poured out from under/behind the vehicle making it difficult for drivers on the highway to see the road. The vehicle lost power and I costed three lanes to the right to get the vehicle off the highway. Transmission fluid was running out under the vehicle. A tow truck was called to get the vehicle removed from highway.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated while driving at approximately 25 mph, several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. In addition, the contact stated while at a stop, the transmission shifted into neutral independently. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer and was diagnosed with a software error and the computer was restarted. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer where it remained awaiting further diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Ocean Honda of hanover had leased me this vehicle with a safety recall not repaired. I drove the car up to washington mountain in nh with my family without knowing the vehicle had a safety recall. Approximately 8 days after the day of I leased the vehicle the seller contacted me asking to take the vehicle back to the dealership to repair a safety recall , I immediately went to the dealership and left the vehicle there they told me to come back on next day and I did but they returned the car back to me without repair and said if I have any problems to contact them I asked them if it have been fixed and he said he didn’t change anything and told I could have the vehicle back it was fine ,they called me again on 08/13/24 asking for take the vehicle back to the dealership again to repair the safety recall and I told them they can come get the vehicle at my address I’m very scared to drive it again now that I know there is a safety issue and also I didn’t have anyone to drive me back I also had missed work on first time that I had left the vehicle there for supposed repair on 08/08/24. They didn’t pickup the vehicle on 08/17/24 I called and said they are going to contact me on Monday(08/19/2024) . They contact me on Monday(08/19/24)asking for me leave the car there but as I asked to talk to the manager he offered me a rental car I accepted because I needed a truck to work but they sent one guy with a SUV and I refused the rental but I told them they could take the truck to repair the recall but they didn’t get it , I called them on Wednesday (08/20/24) to see if I can get my money back and return the vehicle since the vehicle was under recall before the lease I also found the inspection on the gloves compartment and the final inspection is not completed . I haven’t drive the vehicle since I found out about the safety recall and I’m feeling very anxious about it for the fact I drove in the highest mountain of new england (mount washington-nh)with my 2 kids in the car .

The vehicle went into neutral while I was driving at 40 mph. It then started showing errors on the gauge cluster. It said something about do not drive vehicle, transmission issue, see dealer. I took it to the dealer and all they did was clear the codes and give it back to me. I'm not comfortable with this since I was stopped in the middle of traffic on a 5 lane road at rush hour. It was very unsafe and I'm afraid it may happen again.
The transmission in my Honda Ridgeline failed while traveling on the highway at a high rate of speed. Ultimately, there was an internal failure with 3rd gear having been lost. The vehicle was not towing or hauling anything other than myself, two other passengers, and a bit of luggage. This was a properly maintained vehicle with a transmission service performed a year prior. Upon stopping I opened the hood to discover transmission fluid sprayed all over the engine bay and the transmission dipstick missing. At the time of failure, there were no warning signs or lights on the dashboard. According to the Honda technicians that diagnosed and replaced the transmission there was no reason as to why it had failed in such a way. I feel that this type of failure could have caused a serious accident. Anyone considering a vehicle with this transmission should be aware before putting their family in it that it may go out suddenly.
Transmission intermittently shifts very very hard. Like you have been in rear ended by another car. To the point you can not drive due to how hard it shifts. Also related to this and often but not always occur in unison is that the transmission will not shift into the higher gears. 5 or 6th. It will stay in a lower gear and produce excessive rpms at highway speeds. Around 50+ the car will not shift and the rpms go well over 3000-4000 rpms to maintain speed. This has now happened several times in the last 6 months. The dealer had me pay to change the transmission fluid and it went away for a few months and the problem is now back.
While driving the automatic transmission would shift hard causing a lurching motion with the truck. This has happened multiple times and is a known to Honda. It did it again recently shifting hard or not shifting which is a problem in traffic where cars are moving faster speed I almost had someone hit me from behind because as the truck accelerates it suddenly stops and lurches forward like popping a clutch in a standard. Then the emission control light came on, check transmission light came on, bsi light came on and on the display where it indicates p d r l it the p symbol with an x through it. I was in heavy traffic and felt lucky not to be in an accident.
My truck doesn't qualify for the 8 years 150,000 extended warranty due to the VIN, however at 140,000 miles my truck has continued to experience spuddering and low acceleration from 1st to 2nd gear. My mechanic informed me I have a bad torque converter, which is known to happen with 2019 Ridgelines. However scott Honda in west chester PA isn't acknowledging the issue per the warranty. Code p0741 was evident when I got transmission flushed in April 26, 2024 by my mechanic at qyst automotive in upper darby PA. He informed me to bring it to scott Honda with the confidence they would happily take care of it because it is a safety concern. My truck feels unsafe to drive and although the same issue is happening under the extended warranty torque converter recall I have to pay out of pocket for an unsafe vehicle.
My torque converter is failing, sputtering in 1st and 2nd gear constantly. P0741 shows up in code however my truck is not part of the invin 8 year 150,000 extended. I currently have 140,000 on my truck with a bad torque converter and am having to pay in full for the repair.
Rod bearings failed, leaving metal shards in the pistons which causes engine the to overheat and seize or catch fire. The engine noise was getting increasingly loud over a 3 day period so I took it into the dealership (Honda of seattle) and they found rod bearings had worn apart and were floating around inside the engine. This requires a full engine replacement. There were no warning lamps.
After a 2 1/2 drive (interstate, 75 mph on cruise contral, eco button not on), I took the exit to go home. Immediately after going from cruise to normal driving, the check engine light flashed and as I pushed down on the accelerator there was no power. The engine would rev up to 4000 rpm but would not go over 30 mph and would not shift. Once I got on the more level area of the road I did nurse it back to 55 but still very little power and the engine was struggling. I then stopped at a stop light and the engine shuddered when I tried to accelerate again, no power. Made it to a gas station, turned off the vehicle, filled the tank, then restarted, the engine ran just fine. Took it to the Honda dealership the same day and they were unable to find any codes on the computer and were unable to re-simulate what happened to the engine.
So I complained before and nothing has happened. I took my Ridgeline in for the recall on the backup camera and my camera still flickers or goes out. Happens randomly not all the time. I brought it up twice to the Honda dealership and they couldn’t help me since it was working fine when I brought it in. And my transmission since 20k miles still lags and jutters and makes clanking sounds. I have done multiple transmissions fluid changes like recommended but I don’t trust it. And only the first time they covered it and did a software update but that didn’t fix it then my warranty expired and they wanted to charge me for any repairs after. I have had this issue since I bought the Ridgeline. Not even 100k miles and I can’t trust it to drive more than an hour. This been happening for years and I complained before but nothing ever got done. My backup camera still goes in and out as of today and I have received multiple transmission is over heating warnings that then turn off. And now it’s starting to to not shift sometimes and high revs it.
Over the past 15 months, our 2017 Honda Ridgeline has been at the Honda dealership service for over 90 days, or 20% of the elapsed time. A 2nd replacement of the torque converter (3rd unit) in March 2024 has not resolved the judder/vibration, which does not occur when the engine temperature is cold. The vibration is consistently recurring once the engine has reached nominal operating temperature, when the transmission is in 4th-5th gear around 1800 rpm, 30-50 mph. Based on the dealership-attempted fixes, the dealer believes the issue is due to variable cylinder management (vcm) and active control mount (acm) degradation. The dealer, in contact with Honda tech line, have no known fix to this systemic defect. The vehicle has been 100% serviced at fisher Honda per the factory maintenance schedule. All recommended and required service, including technical service bulletins and recalls have been performed and are up-to-date. Reference earlier NHTSA id 11554673 (Nov 2023).
Component: transmission. Not available for inspection - has since been rebuilt. Rebuilder noted leaking 3rd gear clutch seal + failed valve body. Safety risk: suddenly unable to accelerate or maintain speed until the vehicle is stopped and restarted. Problem recreation: by independent service center inspection: by independent service center warnings: shift flare on 2-3 upshift & hard engagement. Then dash warning light. Error code: p0776 at clutch pressure control solenoid valve b stuck off.
Transmission shifts hard torque converter problems have been reported by many owners online and Honda has apparently extended warranties for some but says my VIN is not recalled I would like you to investigate and resolve this issue.

2023 rlt, about 1300 miles on the odometer, temperature was between 4 and 7 degrees f, it was a sunny day with clear roads. I drop 68mph for 70 miles, stopped to make a left turn, and when accelerating through the turn, the blinking orange check engine light came on and the vehicle would not accelerate beyond about 35 mph. I was towed to the nearest dealership from the location of the incident, which occurred over 400 miles from my home. It could have been fatal if there was traffic I had to merge with at the time when the engine was not allowing enough power. It happened at noon in a very small town in north dakota. It could also have been fatal if it had happened in an area with no cell service and no traffic to stop and help as well. Thank goodness I didn't have any children with me and there was somewhere warm to wait the 2 hours for the tow truck. I found an online Honda Ridgeline owners forum where many, many people have reported this same issue: cold temperatures, going highway speeds for a certain amount of time, slowing down or stopping, and then trying to speed up to highway speeds again when the check engine light comes on and the engine limps. The Honda dealership where my vehicle was towed confirmed that I was subject to this "very rare glitch" that they know about and say there is nothing they can do to fix it and no assurances that it won't happen again. I'm not sure how to regain trust in a brand new pickup that I know has this issue that I have experienced first hand in the cold and could experience again that might result in a fatal outcome if Honda doesn't fix this known issue.
On 1-12-2024, without any previous warning, a message pop up on the screen inside my truck that there was a problem with the awd system on my 2019 Honda Ridgeline. I took it into the Honda dealer 2 hours later and was told that the rear differential oil pump was not working. At that time I was not given a reason for the pump failure. I asked whether it would be covered under the drive train warranty and was told that the warranty had run out in June of 2023 and eventhough it only had 44,000 miles it would not be covered. They needed to order a part and I took the truck in for repairs on 1-18-2024. The problem message stayed on until repairs were done. It was not intermittant. When I got the bill it stated on the bill that the pump had failed due to "corrosion". I don't know if any other party has inspected the part or if it is still available for inspection anymore and the only confirmation I have of the problem is what the dealer service manager told me. I believe that this is a significant safety issue in that if a major part of the drive train fails without notice while driving it could cause the vehicle to swerve and cause death and/or destruction of property. I think it may be a design flaw in that if a major part of the drive train fails after only 44,000 miles due to corrosion, that part is not adequately manufactured, placed or shielded to prevent corrosion.
The power train vibrates at certain speeds (between 23mph to 37mph) as if it doesn't know which gear it should be in. It seems like it's in a higher gear when it's at a low speed. Additionally, sometimes when at highway speed I'll get a "transmission problem" warning. The drive train would still drive normally and it'll shift through gears with no problem. But the drive train indicator on the dashboard will be flashing and not showing which gear I'm at, (weather I'm in drive or reverse or neutral).
My vehicle a 2019 Honda Ridgeline has an identified issue with the torque converter from the dealership. American Honda has a service bulletin 23-078 (listed below) that covers the exact same issue but my VIN falls short of being included in this identified and known issue. Multiple Honda Ridgeline owners 2017-2019 with the 6at have had these same issues. Service bulletin 23-078 August 31, 2023 version 1 warranty extension: 2017–19 multi-model 6at torque converter - dtc p0741 stored affected vehicles year model trim VIN range 2017–18 pilot all w/ 6at check in VIN status for eligibility 2017–19 Ridgeline background torque converters may not have been manufactured to proper specifications. As a result, the torque converter lock-up clutch cannot provide adequate holding force due to pressure bleeding down through a crack in the lock-up piston. The reduced lock-up clutch capacity results in dtc p0741 torque converter clutch circuit performance or stuck off. American Honda is extending the warranty on the torque converter to 8 years or 150,000 miles from the original date of purchase, whichever comes first. Customer notification owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification of this campaign. Do an in VIN status inquiry to make sure the vehicle is shown as eligible. Corrective action confirm the vehicle has dtc p0741 stored and replace the torque converter.
While driving home, my brand new 2023 Honda Ridgeline's, with 3,350 miles, transmission's warning light popped up and my transmission when into n while on the highway, I was on the fast lane, while I started noticing the lack of power coming out of the transmission. I almost hit several cars and almost got killed by a 18 wheeler because by the time I managed to reach the emergency lane, I was doing 35 miles on a 65 zone, highway. My truck got stuck in p till I removed the terminals from the battery and reset the system. The truck was available to be put on d, but now the gears are bouncing and the truck accelerate by itself while braking almost collating with the vehicle in front of me. Honda can not replicate the problem and says it is fine. I am worry to kill someone on the road for Honda's 9 speed transmission.
I was driving and without any warning or indication that anything was wrong, I heard a loud clunk noise and immediately lost power to the wheels, but the engine continued running. I was barely able to get the vehicle to the shoulder before it came to a complete stop without me applying the brakes. A police officer came to assist and tried to push it, but even after shifting to neutral, the car would not move. The tow company had to drag it onto the flatbed because the front passenger wheel would not turn. The Honda service center indicated that the axle separated from the transmission. They are in the process of making repairs. While waiting for the tow truck, my car had to sit in a busy highway on ramp turn lane, nearly getting hit several times despite my hazard lights. Had this happened at a higher speed, busier road, or the highway, it could have been extremely dangerous to me and the cars around me. There were no warnings, messages, or other symptoms prior to the incident.
In research to an upcoming service repair on 5/24/24, I experienced the service advisor knowing very quickly about the symptoms I told him. Made me inquire a google search about the tork converter in my transmission. To my dismay, numerous complaints were visible along with a class action suit actively being pursued for same issue. I realized the cost to Honda, but I feel some type of pressure needs applied for a recall since my cost was going to be around $800-$900. American Honda motors gave me the typical speech, as to not show any prejudice toward the issue.
1. Vehicle shift to neutral while driving. 2. Shift vehicle from park to drive, but vehicle shift to neutral and alert for transmission failure comes on. 3. While waiting at a stop light in drive and on brake, vehicle shift to neutral and alert for transmission failure comes on.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that the 4wd system became inoperable. The contact stated that the antifreeze was not suitable for the area he lived. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the dealer, who stated that the antifreeze would thicken below 35 degrees. The contact was informed that the engine would not produce enough power to move thicker coolant throughout the engine. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was concerned about being stranded. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 1,400.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission was slipping. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that a transmission flush was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.
At approximately 50,000 miles I began experiencing a “judder” from my transmission mostly while driving uphill. I researched the issue and discovered that a significant number of Ridgeline transmissions (2017-2019) are experiencing the same issue. It is a problem with the torque converter. The dealer was aware of the issue and charged me over $400 to triple flush the transmission(even though I have a dealer extended warranty). It is possible for the torque converter to fail causing transmission failure. It is now recommended to flush the transmission frequently(more than manufacturer service recommended intervals) to hopefully keep the transmission from failing.
Transmission malfunction. Could lead to transmission failures on the road. Transmission lagging while down shifting and sudden acceleration on occasion. Problem has been duplicated by a 3d party shop that specializes in transmissions. Both Honda and aamco agree the transmission has failed. No warning lamps appear indicating a problem unless major transmission shifting occurs which will throw a transmission problem warning lamp. Lamp goes away once car is turned off and re started.
My 2019 Honda Ridgeline had very noticeable torque converter judder with milage in the 40k. I do not tow other than an occasional utility trailer, loaded lightly. Additionally, the vehicle was always operated in normal conditions. There were never any warning vehicle codes or any other Honda notices on potential problem. On 7/14/2023, I took it to a Honda dealer who verified condition in writing on invoice and serviced the vehicle in accordance with Honda service bulletins 17-025 and 17-026 which resulted from similar complaints and class action from 2017 Honda Ridgelines. After researching online, I noticed many 2018 and 2019 Ridgeline owners were complaining about the same issue of premature transmission torque converter problems in various forums. This premature defective transmission issue did not go unnoticed by Honda as they changed to a different transmission for 2020 models. I believe that Honda and this issue should be investigated so as to hold Honda responsible for appropriate corrective action to include warranty extension of the 5 year / 60000 miles. I am uploading invoice which documents issue and payment. Document says rpm surges 1000 to 2000, which should have read 100 to 200 rpms.
I have been to my Honda dealership four times for transmission issues and on the fourth trip to the dealer they were finally able to confirm the problem. My 2019 Ridgeline will kick/buck at about 27 miles per hour and will not shift into higher gears as I gain speed. When this occurs, my engine will operate at 4,000 rpm on the highway. There warning lamps when the transmission starts acting up. The some or all of the lamps will stay on for on or several days at a time and these include: emission systems problem, transmission systems problem and blind spot info system problem. My safety is at risk due to the fact the transmission does not shift and bucks and I cannot potentially accelerate in a normal manner which could lead to an accident. They have diagnosed the problem based on a computer code from the car to the service department. They say the part is on backorder and they do not know when it will be available. Could be up to six months. I have looked on the internet and have found many Ridgeline owners complaining of the same issue for the 2017-2019 model years. When I brought the car in for service the first two times I was under extended warranty and now they say I may not be covered because they could not detect it. I guess mechanics now rely on computers and do not accept the work of the owner as to the problems being experienced. The problem is the pressure control valve code # p0776.
On may 31, 2023, my wife and I were in our Honda Ridgeline when attempting to back up into a parking spot. We noticed the instrument cluster went dark with only a "p" flashing. There were no alarms or indications of any fault. We shut down the truck. After trying to restart there was no instrument cluster along with the shifter locked in park. On this current model their is no emergency override out of park as on other vehicles. We had traffic backed up for hours as we called a tow truck to move the vehicle from the main street. Upon the Ridgeline being towed to the local Honda dealer. They scanned for codes, u0103, u0155, u0404, u12aa. Checked diag tree and confirmed system test and found sbw control module and gauge control module didn't communication. They ended up finding a fuse had blown. My question is why no override out of park on this model? safety issue.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate, the engine continuously revved very high, and while at a stop light, the vehicle almost stalled after activating the a/c. Additionally, the transmission failed to immediately shift into gear, and the vehicle jerked while shifting gear. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who performed a transmission software update, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included the manufacturer’s extended warranty coverage that addressed the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was not available.
Truck was parked for 5+ minutes in same stationary spot as it has been parked many time before in similar conditions and environment. Passenger front door to vehicle was closed and truck somehow slipped a gear and brake and rolled away as shown in the video that recorded on my ring doorbell.
