While driving with the cruise control set at 52mph, I was coming to a known left curve with a stop sign four way intersection that follows it (I drive this route at least 50% of the time whenever leaving my home). I hit the 'cancel' button to stop the cruise control as I came to the curve, and there was no response. I hit the brakes and again there was no response. At that point I prepared for a wreck because I knew the curve was tight, followed by that intersection's stop sign, and I was almost upon the curve. Continuing to try to apply brakes and getting no response, I could not hold the curve of the road and left the roadway to the right side. I narrowly avoided a lightpole, and then I was finally at the ditch of the crossroad already mentioned. The truck struck the ditch embankment facing me and likely launched airborn at that point, going across the first lane of the crossroad. After about the width of that lane, it appears that's when the front suspension landed, gouging the asphalt and deploying the airbag on me at that point. This seems to be when the braking system finally responded as I started to slow down some, as it bounced and jerked across the remaining lanes, leaving skid marks on that part of the road. I steered it between two signs on the far side, still barely under control but it finally slowing down into the 20s or so, where I had control and brought it to a stop. The vehicle had no known issues or odbii scan codes prior to this incident. *after the incident*, there was an abs system fault code present, and it also showed an abs fault message on the vehicle information screen after the incident. I believe this could be related to the cruise control malfunction, as I know that the abs system is often involved in modern cruise control systems to control hill descent speeds. The road section just prior to where I attempted to turn off the cruise control was on a slight hill descent, but I don't know if that was related to what happened to me.

I am having brake indicator light popup 4 time in three week with some strange noise while driving high speed on freeway. I researched found some recall on my 2022 Honda Ridgeline. Based on the provided VIN, [xxx], it appears show my 2022 Honda Ridgeline may be affected by two safety recalls: 1. Rearview camera issue: the rearview camera tailgate wire harness might break, preventing the camera image from displaying and increasing crash risk. This affects certain 2020-2024 Ridgeline vehicles. Dealers will replace the harness free of charge. Owner notifications were sent on November 8, 2024, for Honda recall number yi7. 2. Brake master cylinder issue: an improperly assembled tie rod fastener could cause the brake master cylinder to separate from the booster assembly, leading to a loss of brake function and increased crash risk. This affects certain 2020-2023 Ridgeline, I called Honda customer service reported the problems case#[xxx]. However, no action from Honda at the time. Due to public safety concern and my self I report the incident for you to review. For any question you may have please email:[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

1. Soft / spongy brakes. Brake pedal depresses 1/3 - 1/2 way to the floor before the brakes grab. I had one close call hard stop incident, and now I allow extra car lengths for safety. 2. In park, the truck rolls noticeably before the transmission lock engages. I'd estimate 3 degrees. Your foot drags noticeably if on ground. Purchased new the end of may 29, 2025 and noticed these issues immediately. Brought truck back to two different dealerships and was told it drives the same as other Ridgeline trucks twice on 6/13/25 and 7/11/25, and everything is okay once. Informed american Honda and we agreed to take it to the second dealership for a third brake / transmission check on 8/22/25. Dealer said everything is normal. Truck built on same unibody platform as the Honda pilot, similar structure. Other: I have owned other truck brands and have not had these issues. There are no warning lamps, messages, etc. I have contacted / dealt with dealership management and american Honda, CA. Truck is available for inspection. I am told it drives like other Ridgeline trucks, I own two other Honda cars, and their brakes are responsive. I have no transmission roll with my other vehicles.
Honda placed panels in the cargo area that are toxic and have a high voc. I have been unable to park the car in the garage because of the toxic odor. The other issue is the air in the brake lines, which makes stopping the truck difficult. The truck is heavy and it just keeps moving when the brakes are applied. I went to dealer and they refused to bleed the brakes. It is absurd!!! the panels are a health concern; can these panels cause cancer; this is a safety issue as well. I hope you take this matter seriously. I will be sending this information to the u. S. Attorney general. We have to be certain that this panel is not harmful . It is like someone standing in front of you and blowing their cigarette smoke in your face. Please look into this matter. The cargo area is under the bed.
The contact owns a 2023 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving up a slope at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate to accelerate as intended while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The brake warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that on several occasions while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle would fail to decelerate as intended while the brake pedal was depressed. The failure occurred on two occasions, where on the first occasion, it almost crashed into the residence. On the most recent occasion, the contact stated that the vehicle had shuddered before independently jolting and crashing into a church building before coming to a stop. No injuries were sustained. No medical attention was sought. A police report was not filed. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer on several occasions, where it was diagnosed however was unable to replicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon further investigation, the insurance provider related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 23v458000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,900.

Since buying this vehicle new, on multiple occasions the automatic braking system has come on approaching other vehicles on a straight stretch of highway even when both I and the approaching vehicle are nowhere near the center line or anywhere near an accident situation. I reported this to the dealership in the first six months after purchase and was told nothing was wrong. The frequency of this happening seems to be increasing.

While driving on the highway truck pressed brakes without any obstacles near or in front of me. This event has happened more than once as of late.
The issues with this vehicle and the ongoing problems related to the forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking have previously been reported to you under complaint number 11619917. With additional events, the vehicle has again been taken back to the dealer and the issues reported to american Honda. The mechanical conditions still exist. The dealer has driven the vehicle and now says that the known conditions are normal? they also blame the conditions on the roads being driven (county and state highways)? how can a vehicle manufacturer be allowed to sell vehicles with known safety defects? by itself, that is outrageous. I am uploading the dealer repair invoice for the most recent events. Can someone take this seriously and do something before there is an accident and someone is either hurt or killed?.

While traveling at the posted speed, the automatic emergency braking system applied the brakes without any vehicle in front of us. The speed limit on this particular road is 50 miles per hour. The braking was so sudden and applied with force that the vehicles traveling behind us had to apply their brakes to avoid a collision with us. This has happened before, but never with such force. The date I have given below is the most recent event. The issues have been reported to the dealer without resolution.
The contact owns a 2024 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. In addition, the brakes were independently activated. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate above 30 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the contact was not informed of the diagnostic results. The contact was informed that unknown repairs were being performed. In addition, the contact stated that the failure had occurred more than thirty times. The contact stated that with 137 miles on the vehicle, the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the failure was diagnosed as a failed brake switch, and the warning lights were reset. The failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. The contact requested that the dealer buy back the vehicle, and the request was denied. In addition, the contact stated that he feared driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 137.
I was leaving a place of business crossing a four lane undivided road legally to make a left turn. There was an oncoming car (at an unknown speed) in the lane I was crossing approaching rapidly. I just needed to accelerate lightly to be clear. The collision braking system activated before I could clear. The driver was headed straight for me with a broadside collision imminent. He swerved at the last minute and avoided me by heading into the oncoming traffic lane ( no oncoming cars were present). Results could have been ugly. I have to manually turn that feature off every time I start the vehicle, unless you can have it disabled for me. I do not want my vehicle making decision which I cannot control. Thank you for addressing this matter and a response would be appreciated.
Vehicle flashes automatic emergency braking sign on dashboard when it is confused by oncoming traffic in the other lane.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Ridgeline. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v458000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle turned unintendedly. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
On more than one occasion, the forward collision warning system and emergency braking system on my 2023 Honda Ridgeline activated when there was no obstacle. These incidents have occurred since new. Normally, the false activation causes my vehicle to flash the "brake" warning on the instrument cluster, the steering wheel to shake, and the brakes to be gently applied. However, one time a false activation occurred while I was turning within a busy intersection. This false activation caused my vehicle to suddenly brake to a complete stop. Thankfully there were no vehicles behind me.
A truck and car in front of me stopped suddenly and I has to push brakes to stop. My truck did not slow down and I hit almost full speed the truck in front of me. My brakes did not even leave I skid mark.

Around 25,000 miles front brakes started making screeching noise with regular stopping. I am not a hard breaker. Rotors according do the dealership have developed hot spots. Honda has changed to a coated rotor which cannot be turned. I also have a 2019 Honda Ridgeline that has the non coated rotors and have had no problems with front brakes.
Brakes suddenly became not effective. I would have to push hard on brake pedal to stop the car even at a slow rolling speed. Luckily I didn't leave home very far. I check brake fluid level to be fine and didn't find any leaks. I had the car towed to an auto shop and they diagnosed the brake booster and master cylinder needed to be replaced. I know there is a recall for brakes failing but didn't get any notification. The auto shop is ordering the parts needed but it may take several weeks. So I have to rent a car for the time being. Please let me know if there is reimbursement as I only have about 6,000 miles on i5.
Vehicle automatically slams on brakes, shakes steering wheel out of hands, and won't take throttle causing me to loose control of the vehicle frequently. I does it at 75 mph with no other cars within 10 miles or at 50 mph. All with no other cars within miles. My family will not ride in vehicle cause scared because of un safe technology. I do not feel safe driving this Honda vehicle with this bad technology.
At approximately 20mph, forward collision warning appeared as car in front braked quickly but continued forward after the quick brake. After I braked to slow down, I began to accelerate as the vehicle in front continued forward. As soon as I hit the accelerator, the automatic emergency braking kicked in and locked up the brakes - even though the car in front of me was 20-30+ feet away. Car behind me had to slam on their brakes as it appeared that I braked without any reason.

Lost brakes as I was trying to decelerate to make a left turn on fm 1472, still managed to come to a stop before hitting the traffic ahead of me that was also waiting to make a left turn. Smoke started to come out from the wheel wells. Put vehicle on parking, shut off engine, opened hood and found fire coming out from the back of the engine bay. Extinguished fire with a fire extinguisher, and a few minutes later, a fire dept truck arrived to hose it just to make sure it was properly extinguished. Waiting for cause and origin investigator from the insurance to inspect the vehicle.
Truck was parked for 5+ minutes in same stationary spot as it has been parked many time before in similar conditions and environment. Passenger front door to vehicle was closed and truck somehow slipped a gear and brake and rolled away as shown in the video that recorded on my ring doorbell.
There was significant water infiltration on left side front at location around and below fuse block and parking brake. Soaked insulation up to driver side seat and back to the windshield on the same side were noted. Water infiltration after heavy rain was severe enough to cause audible parking brake alarm that wouldn't clear completely until the area had partially dried. This alarm is loud enough and persistent enough to cause driver distraction and would become intermittent as carpet dried. Insulation had to be removed after it was noted still wet after three days of no rain and with what appeared visibly as black mold near steering column at floor board. This appears similar to water infiltration addressed in the Honda service bulletin 07-082 for the 2007 and 2008 year models of the Ridgeline truck.

2022 Honda Ridgeline, problems started around 8k miles. When traveling at or above 45 mph and slowing down to a complete stop at stop sign and lights, steering wheel would shake aggressively and at times pull the truck to the left/right. Took it to dealer and they said they didn't notice anything wrong and could be "just how the truck is". Please help!.
On 2/23/2022, I was driving my Ridgeline on local roads with 40 mph speed limits. On 2 separate occasions, the "brake" flashed on the dashboard for no reason. There were no obstructions ahead. The warning appeared for a second or two and then disappeared. I felt no braking of the vehicle. I have previously reported this incident by email, and has been assigned #491499 2021 Honda Ridgeline-brake warning on dashboard.
When entering a slight curve in the road, the steering wheel shakes and the dash says brake. There is always a car in the oncoming lane, but well within its lane. I only have 1000 miles on the Ridgeline, but this has happened several times. In each instance the brakes were never applied, but it is quite unnerving. There are times when the shaking (vibrating) steering wheel is more violent which makes me think that it is close to applying the brakes. I had the same issue with my 2018 accord. The dealer is aware but they say there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.
On Friday 2/18/2022 I was pulling into a parking space with my 2010 Honda Ridgeline. When applying the brake, the vehicle suddenly accelerated unintentionally and hit the car in the opposing parking space. I stood on the brake harder when I sensed the vehicle lurching forward. After I struck the opposing car, I confirmed that my foot was on the brake and not touching the accelerator. Also, oddly the vehicle immediately stopped running and I noticed the car was in reverse. I took pictures and video immediately after the incident both inside the car and outside before I touched anything. I then put the car in park, started the car, and backed it up. I inspected both cars for damage and did not find any damage. I left a note for the other car. The owner later called and confirmed she did not find any damage. One interesting thing that I noticed is that the parking space had a sewer drain in the front left corner that had a large slope and snow/ice surrounding it. The unintended acceleration occurred right when the front left tire hit that sloping ice patch.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while stopped behind a truck that had attempted to make a left hand turn, the vehicle began to reverse and tapped his vehicle. There was no visible damage to the vehicle and a police report was not filed. The few days after this incident, the contact had merged onto a highway at 30 mph and attempted to apply his brakes but the brake pedal failed operate as needed. The automatic brake system also failed to operate as needed and the contact crashed into the vehicle in front of him without warning. The airbags deployed upon impact; no injuries were report and no medical attention was required. A police report was filed. Due to the accident, the vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic but his insurance had the vehicle towed to the dealer where it remained in their possession. The contact believed that the incident that occurred a few days prior to the second accident may have contributed to the automatic braking system failure. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.

~tl- the contact owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated while attempting to park in a parking space, the vehicle independently accelerated while the brake pedal was depressed. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a wall. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained some body soreness but no medical attention was required. The vehicle was driveable but the insurance company had the vehicle towed to a local body shop. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that they would have to contact their insurance company. The failure mileage was 30,000. The VIN was unavailable. Rd.
The brakes are soft if you hit the brakes out of the "clear blue". If you recently pressed them within the last couple of seconds, the pedal has a much firmer and grabbier perception. The brakes function nicely, but the variance in brake feel could be detrimental where fractions of a second matter. The vehicle does it all the time regardless of terrain or temperature.
Honda Ridgeline, 2019, Honda sensing, was turning into a parking spot in front of a bldg, 1/2 way in, the sensing, sensed something? the big yellow light comes on the dash with the words "brake", truck comes to a complete halt, I was slightly jerked forward, the truck was at a complete stop, 1/2 in 1/2 out or parking spot, diagonally, my hands on the wheel, I then just lightly touched the gas petal to move forward and park, but the truck resumed to full speed and ran me into the wall, about 15 feet in front of me. I could not do anything, the cruise control was not on, the gas pedal was not floored, the computer just told it to resume the speed. The air bag deployed, my hands were hurt. . . I was alone on the street.
Vehicle requires foot on brake for starting. Upon applying starter button the brake pedal goes down alarming amount if vehicle has been sitting for 30 days as we are experiencing the quarantine. Two trips to the dealer have not provided any satisfactory explanation for my problem.
Driving at about 55 mph, my 2019 Honda Ridgeline's airbags didn't deploy when I hit a 2015 Ford focus that failed to yield the right of way and cut infront of me. Honda sensing's collision mitigation braking system and forward collision warning failed to alert me and failed to stop my vehicle either.
