1 Steering problem of the 2022 Honda Ridgeline

Failure Date: 06/20/2025

I am having brake indicator light popup 4 time in three week with some strange noise while driving high speed on freeway. I researched found some recall on my 2022 Honda Ridgeline. Based on the provided VIN, [xxx], it appears show my 2022 Honda Ridgeline may be affected by two safety recalls: 1. Rearview camera issue: the rearview camera tailgate wire harness might break, preventing the camera image from displaying and increasing crash risk. This affects certain 2020-2024 Ridgeline vehicles. Dealers will replace the harness free of charge. Owner notifications were sent on November 8, 2024, for Honda recall number yi7. 2. Brake master cylinder issue: an improperly assembled tie rod fastener could cause the brake master cylinder to separate from the booster assembly, leading to a loss of brake function and increased crash risk. This affects certain 2020-2023 Ridgeline, I called Honda customer service reported the problems case#[xxx]. However, no action from Honda at the time. Due to public safety concern and my self I report the incident for you to review. For any question you may have please email:[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

4 Steering problem of the 2025 Honda Ridgeline

Failure Date: 04/01/2025

Engine "stop/start" turned off when trying to make a turn. When it did the steering would not move. Also when "stop/start" turns off it was dangerous when turning. I email Honda and they called me back. They could have it disabled but it would cost $80 and I would have to buy the part and they would install it. This is a new truck bought last month.

5 Steering problem of the 2024 Honda Ridgeline

Failure Date: 10/12/2024

While traveling at the posted speed, the automatic emergency braking system applied the brakes without any vehicle in front of us. The speed limit on this particular road is 50 miles per hour. The braking was so sudden and applied with force that the vehicles traveling behind us had to apply their brakes to avoid a collision with us. This has happened before, but never with such force. The date I have given below is the most recent event. The issues have been reported to the dealer without resolution.

7 Steering problem of the 2023 Honda Ridgeline

Failure Date: 01/02/2024

My steering locked up while moving at a very low speed (<5mph) and turning my wheel (not all the way). Voltage in the vehicle dropped (hvac speed and lighting). A yellow caution/warning blipped for a second on the dash. I would not normally submit an issue like this but if this had happened at high speed, going down the road, the results could be catastrophic. I have seen the hvac fan speed drop before while turning the wheel but never the steering lockup. This only happened once on Tuesday night 1/2/24 at 11pm. This was not just the power steering stopping working where I could overcome the turning with strength, it was locked up hard for less than a second (like the security steering solenoid engaging). This has to be a huge safety issue!!! I brought this to the dealer and the battery cable was loose. Since tightening the cable the issues has not re-occurred. I think that even with a loss of power/voltage, the steering should not lock up while the vehicle is moving. Please investigate.

8 Steering problem of the 2022 Honda Ridgeline

Failure Date: 12/11/2023

Vehicle automatically slams on brakes, shakes steering wheel out of hands, and won't take throttle causing me to loose control of the vehicle frequently. I does it at 75 mph with no other cars within 10 miles or at 50 mph. All with no other cars within miles. My family will not ride in vehicle cause scared because of un safe technology. I do not feel safe driving this Honda vehicle with this bad technology.

12 Steering problem of the 2022 Honda Ridgeline

Failure Date: 02/24/2022

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that the vehicle had been driven for approximately a mile; after arriving to her residence, she was unable to shift the vehicle into reverse while depressing the button to select reverse. The contact stated that the emission, transmission, and an unknown sensor warning light were illuminated on the instrument panel during the failure. The contact's husband was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer where they diagnosed the vehicle with a possible battery failure. The battery was replaced and the vehicle was returned to the contact. Two days later while the contact was in a drive thru line, a whitish-gray smoke started coming from the steering wheel. The steering wheel then became extremely hot to the touch. The contact’s husband who was seated next to her became alarmed and yelled out fire. The contact and her husband then exited the vehicle out of fear that the vehicle might catch on fire. The contact turned the vehicle off and the smoke stopped. The contact then had the vehicle towed back to dealer where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

18 Steering problem of the 2012 Honda Ridgeline

Failure Date: 11/01/2015

I have experienced a loss in power steering, sometimes, when driving through puddles of water. I see this as a serious safety concern, as if you're expecting to be able to turn a certain way, and then you can't, you're going to run into something, and this has almost happened to me on a couple of occasions. This happens without warning, and does not happen with every puddle. Indeed, it happens fairly infrequently, which to me, is more dangerous, as you tend to forget about the issue. If it happened every time, it would become a habit. I spoke with technicians at Honda, who were aware of the issue. It seems that due to a lack of a splash guard, the water splashes up onto the belt(s) and they slip, and the power steering is unpowered for a short time. They told me there is no fix for this. The date below is approximate.

22 Steering problem of the 2010 Honda Ridgeline

Failure Date: 02/05/2010

2010 Honda Ridgeline trucks have the power steering reservoir fluid mounted to the base of the frame. The reservoir is not protected or shielded from any debris which could easily enter into the engine compartment to include water, ice and snow from the road which could strike the power steering reservoir and cause a complete and instant failure of steering. The reservoir is mounted by one bolt on a thin bracket which can flex.

23 Steering problem of the 2007 Honda Ridgeline

Failure Date: 11/01/2009

We own a 2007 Honda Ridgeline. The metal inner ring on the steering wheel separated from the rubbery outer ring. This defect causes the outer ring to twist and give off an odor. The odor makes me feel like I need to vomit. The combination of the unsecured outer ring and the distraction of the urge to vomit makes for unsafe driving. This started over a year ago and has gradually gotten worse. We contacted Honda as well as our extended warranty company and got no help. We would like the steering wheel replaced.

25 Steering problem of the 2006 Honda Ridgeline

Failure Date: 05/01/2009

I have had my Honda Ridgeline for 3 years and just found out the shocks and struts have to be replaced. I have never hauled anything with the vehicle or towed anything. It is a 2006 Ridgeline and I noticed on the forums many other people were having the same problems and the dealer was quietly replacing the ones under warranty but charging for the others. Even the dealer admits there is a problem but refuses to issue a recall. . I have had trucks my entire adult life and have never had to replace shocks or struts on any vehicle. This vehicle is mostly driven in the city and occasionally highway driving. No offroading or on any surface other than asphalt. The struts and shocks wearing out so quickly cause swaying of the vehicle and some difficulty stopping which could lead to an accident not to mention that the dealer said my brakes were glazed and I asked if this could be due to the fact that all the weight of the vehicle is thrown forward on an underengineered front suspension system. . He said it was possible.
