1 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 05/19/2008

During morning traffic my Hyundai 2002 Accent GS was hit from the rear. The collision caused my seat to collapse. The seat collapsing caused my body to travel towards the rear of the car. I struck another vehicle with the front of my car which caused my body to go forward. I notified Hyundai about the incident in writing and there response was that the seat was designed to absorb the impact and that they had no other comment on the matter. This was not a matter of absorbing an impact. The seat completely collapsed. I have all the information and responses in writing. I have also done research and found that I am not the only person that has had a seat collapse in a rearend collision. Hyundai should address this issue so that others can avoid the injuries that result from not being adequately restrained when the seat collapses.
