Airbag light turned on my dashboard and when I took it to the dealership -regional Hyundai in broken arrow in oklahoma I was told by the rep that helped me that there is a defect in the passenger airbag and that it would cost me about 1700. 00 usd to fix it. If I chose not to fix it then if I get into a car wreck the passenger airbag would deploy, this is a risk hazard for lives and there is no reason why a fairly new car, 2020 should have issues with the airbags. This is a potential risk that passengers should not experience in the case of an unfortunate wreck.

This reports a recurring safety restraint system (srs) airbag warning light issue for no apparent reason other than potentially defective components. Please investigate this! any issues with the srs system of a vehicle by default puts the safety of the vehicle's passengers at risk. The srs airbag warning light first turned on randomly in June 2023 and remained on for a few weeks every time the car was on or being driven. (I am the second owner of the car, and this happened a year after purchase; I do not know if the original owners also had issues with this srs warning light. ) this srs warning light turned itself off randomly a few weeks later. I had scheduled with a Hyundai service dept. To diagnose the issue for the price of $184. 50 but ended up cancelling since the srs light turned itself off 2 weeks before my appointment. The rough phone estimate by this Hyundai service dept. Said that depending on if it is a sensor, control module, or something else, it could cost between $500 to $3000 to resolve. I was told that an issue with the srs would not be investigated/covered by the manufacturer original warranty. (but srs is a non-maintainable system so should work properly for the lifetime of the vehicle. ) the srs airbag warning light remained off until on Dec. 22, 2023, when it turned on again randomly. It stayed on again (anytime the car was on or being driven) for a few days then turned off randomly again. The srs airbag warning light turned on again 1/26/24, then turned off on again on 1/29/24. It turned on again on 1/30/24 and is still on (2/1/24). This recurring srs light issue indicates an urgent, underlying issue with the srs system that has occurred randomly, without warning or reason, to my vehicle and to others with this vehicle according to this NHTSA web site. This srs warning light issue suggests that the srs system may not be working properly and could case the airbags to deploy incorrectly, or not deploy when needed, which is unacceptable.
Airbag light turns on/off. Had dealership investigate and found that it is related to the occupancy sensor mat in the passenger seat. Code was reset (no work performed) and remained off 7 months and now is back on. Could be related to weather (comes on more frequently during fall & winter). Dealer states it is a b1767 code and will need OCS mat replaced.

The airbag light in my vehicle has been randomly turning on and off sporadically, several times a month. When I had my local dealership check the codes, they reported that there were several passenger-side airbag related codes that were stored and that they didn't know why they were going off at all. They were able to observe the light turning off and on at random. There have been no other known issues with the car. This airbag issue occurs when I am driving, parked, with someone/something on the passenger seat, and without. The codes stored were the following: b1764, b1767, b1493, b1603, b1490. Dealer notes were: "cleared codes and tried to get them to reset and would not reset put 100lbs in pass seat and buckled it and went on test drive no codes pending no light on moved seat front and back no codes. Unable to further diag".
The air bag warning light comes on frequently while I am driving and the passenger side air bag does not always turn off when there is not a passenger sitting in the passenger seat like it should. It is to the point where I am afraid to drive my car after spending a ridiculous amount of money on our family car. Please help us. Thank you in advance.
Airbag light comes on and off at random, regardless of whether there is a passenger in the seat or not. Car was taken to a Hyundai dealership, and they discovered a seat cushion with a sensor was malfunctioning. This would cost close to a $1000. 00 to fix. This is a safety issue, thus, this should be a recall. Do not wait until enough people and children have died from this. Most of us do not have $1000. 00 to dish out for a fancy seat cushion. I see from many complaints that this is a big problem. Please take this seriously and put out a recall for those of us that are too broke to fix a safety malfunction that came with the car.
Passenger seat airbag sensor malfunction. Started on 21 June 2019, I started my car and noticed the red airbag dash light on and the passenger "airbag off" light out. A few days later, I started my car and the red dash light stayed off and the "airbag off" light was working. It works off and on till this day; weight some times influences it. Most of the time it is unresponsive and the dash light is on. Dealership diagnosed it for $100 and confirmed it was the $1200 passenger seat airbag sensor.
This car and its seat have gradually eroded by lower back and spine. The seat is shaped in an such a way that it forces the spine into an unnatural position. When factoring in the fact that even minor bumps in this car cause its weak suspension to send vibrations throughout the seat, my back has suffered long lasting damage. No amount of built in lumbar support or added cushions has resolved this issue. In addition the only way to get adequate leg room is to have the seat back but the position of the steering wheel pulls the shoulders forward. This has resulted in a great amount of pain and puts the spine in a further vulnerable position to be subjected to vibrations from the road and forces an unnatural sitting position. In the attached images, please note the position at which the steering wheel is in relation to the seat. It does not allow for a natural bend of the elbow. In stead it forces the driver to keep their elbow pointed up. This seat is a clear safety violation, not just for my back and physical well being but for the safety of myself and other drivers. This car does not allow for me to properly see the road and handle the car as I am driving. The physical pain and discomfort it causes makes it difficult to concentrate on the road. I often fear that it is only a matter of time before this results in a serious accident.

The airbag light came on. I have taken it to the dealer twice, they have cleaned around the sensor to make the light go off twice. They said that if it comes on again, they have to replace the entire passenger side seat. Dm scan code: b1448. They told me that if I don't get it fixed, the air bags will not deploy if there is a collision.
