1 Hood Latch problem of the 2013 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 11/21/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Accent. While driving 65 mph, the hood flew open and slammed into the windshield. The contact was able to exit the highway and forced the hood closed. City auto park (4395 us-130, burlington, new jersey 08016, (609) 871-2800) stated that due to the fact that the hood was able to open and latch closed during inspection, there was nothing that could be done to repair the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that a certified Hyundai dealer must inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

2 Hood Latch problem of the 2000 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 05/13/2004

The consumer was checking the oil under the hood when the hood fell down onto his head. No injuries were reported. The consumer contacted the dealer who indicated that the vehicle was not longer under warranty.

3 Hood Latch problem of the 2000 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/28/2001

Hood latch failed as car was traveling on a major us interstate at approximatel 55 mph. The hood came open, ,causing the driver to lose control of the car and hit 2 concrete barriers. The car was totaled. Thankfully, no one was injured.

4 Hood Latch problem of the 2000 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 05/09/2000

The main hood latch failed while the car was traveling at approximately 45mph. The secondary latch also failed (the spring holding the latch in place was never engaged) and the hood blew open, folded back and smashed through the windshield. Neither the driver or the two passengers were injured, however both the driver and the front seat passenger were showered with glass. Police did respond to the scene and determined that it was the latch system that failed. The hood has not been opened except by the dealer when the car was purchased.

5 Hood Latch problem of the 1999 Hyundai Accent

While traveling 65 mph and without any indication hood flipped backward, causing consumer to slam on brakes, resulting in consumer's vehicle running into another vehicle. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide further information.
