6 Seat Belt problem of the 2022 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 09/24/2022

My car, a 2022 Hyundai Accent sel, left the right lane I was traveling in on a highway and continued into the left lane, then onto the left shoulder, and finally stopped in a ditch. The airbags did not deploy. I am having the steering column checked and airbags checked as I have read on several websites online that this is one of the recalls on my car (the steering column may loosen and may cause a crash). The insurance changed the at-fault clause to not at fault after they verified the information online about the steering column being defective. My car is still in the auto repair shop, 38 days, still awaiting parts because the car was not made in the USA. The damage is $13,197. I do not see this recall reported on this website. There is a recall for parts missing on the seatbelts, I had that fixed on my last oil change. I do not see this listed here as well. I received a recall notice about the seatbelts, but I did not receive a notice about the steering column. The auto body shop will tow my car to Hyundai to check the steering column after my car is fixed as they told me Hyundai would have to fix this. The airbags did not deploy. I have read other people have reported this happening to them. This is not a recall issue reported, but rather a complaint. No warning signals or sounds went off when my car pulled left and brought me to a ditch. I was extremely lucky not to get hurt.

I've been trying for about 6 months to get this recall corrected. I've called several dealers and no one has the parts. Isn't it ridiculous that they are suggesting I park the car outside my garage because it is dangerous to park it inside, but it's ok if I drive it???? when will these parts be available?.

The airbag light in my vehicle has been randomly turning on and off sporadically, several times a month. When I had my local dealership check the codes, they reported that there were several passenger-side airbag related codes that were stored and that they didn't know why they were going off at all. They were able to observe the light turning off and on at random. There have been no other known issues with the car. This airbag issue occurs when I am driving, parked, with someone/something on the passenger seat, and without. The codes stored were the following: b1764, b1767, b1493, b1603, b1490. Dealer notes were: "cleared codes and tried to get them to reset and would not reset put 100lbs in pass seat and buckled it and went on test drive no codes pending no light on moved seat front and back no codes. The seatbelt unbuckles on its own when driving. It is happening each time my husband or I drive the vehicle. I’m concerned that the seatbelt will unbuckle in case of a collision. I’ve been looking online, and the 2014 Hyundai Accent does not have any reported issues with the seatbelt that I can find. I have not yet taken the vehicle for inspection, but I’m not sure what to do next. No lamps are lighting up to indicate this problem. It just happens randomly at any speed.

17 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 03/01/2022

My seatbelt has been releasing on its own. Every time I get in the car, I make sure to firmly press the seatbelt into the latch and then pull on it to make sure it is secure. However, it still releases after 15-30 minutes of driving. I'm worried that in the event of an accident, the seatbelt would not stay buckled and I could be injured or ejected from the vehicle. . 18 Seat Belt problem of the 2014 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 02/10/2022

The driver's seat belt unbuckles randomly while driving. This issue seems to be more prevalent depending on the seat position and dimensions of the driver. For me, a woman who uses the back of the seat in a more upright position, it seems to happen more often than for my husband, who uses the seat more reclined. Nevertheless, it has happened to him as well.

19 Seat Belt problem of the 2022 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/13/2021

Instead of a simple seat belt warning light staying on when the driver's side belt is not connected, the car uses a complicated system: "the seat belt warning light will illuminate for approximately 6 seconds each time you place the ignition switch to the on position regardless of belt fastening. However, if the seat belt is unfasted, a warning chime will sound for approximately 6 seconds. If you continue not to fasten the seat belt and you drive over 6 mph the warning light will stay illuminated. If you continue to drive over 12 mph the seat belt warning chime will sound for approximately 100 seconds and the corresponding warning light will blink, etc. " worse yet, as far as I can tell, the front passenger seat belt when unfastened will not show at all! the passenger side airbag light is on showing the airbag is not engaged about 50% to 75% of the time when that seat is occupied when a lumbar support "seat" is used. Instead of a simple sensor based on weight, Hyundai got "cutesy" and uses some sort of "electro-magnetic" sensor which is awful when my wife is occupying the passenger seat. I would hope you would require Hyundai to do a "fix" and install a simple sensor based on weight which is how, I believe, every car I've owned previously works. The wife has a back problem, hence the use of a lumbar support "seat" is required.

23 Seat Belt problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 10/02/2017

This vehicle has excessive rust underbody, and the fuel tank straps are rusted along with just about the whole frame. The brakes are now squealing and rubbing after an alleged underbody rust treatment, which sprayed over the old rust! Hyundai has offered a "wax treatment" which is basically waxing my rust. The fuel straps seem to me to be a safety issue of great importance, as well as the brakes. The driver's side seatbelt does not always fasten and I was told that there's nothing wrong with it. Hyundai refuses to address the safety issues, stating the car is out of warranty, yet they admit the original frame coating was too thin.

25 Seat Belt problem of the 2007 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 03/03/2017

Regarding NHTSA reference # 1088179: my air bag light started staying on around February 2017. I made appointment on phone with only Hyundai certified service dealer near my home 3-2017and drove to chico (70 miles away). They said it must be battery and charged me for a new battery. I called them around April 1, 2017 telling them light was still coming on and they said I would have to buy a whole new seat and system, no safety issue recognized by Hyundai, therefore I would be responsible to entire cost regardless of safety issues. I called Hyundai USA which gave me a case # 1012618 but said there is no recall on file with Hyundai and I could file a complaint with NHTSA. I am sending them a copy of what I am filing with you. I looked up other Hyundai Accent 2007 complaints and Hyundai said there's not enough to make a recall. A local auto repair agreed to replace items for my paid invoice amount enclosed. I'm filing this now because I don't want to be a statistic for seat belt failure or faulty air bag deployment and maybe help someone else.

33 Seat Belt problem of the 2012 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 04/20/2012

Takata recall. My wife was sideswiped by a hit and run driver and ran off the road onto a rough vacant field. Airbag failed to deploy and she hit her head on the steering wheel and suffered a skull fracture. Two weeks after the accident she started having memory problems and has suffered 5 strokes and a CT scan shows brain damage. This has gone on since April of 2012 and the car was just a few months old with approxamatly 8,000 miles on the car. It did about $ 8000. 00 dollars in damage which was never repaired right until alfa insurance company in alabama sent us to the best body man around and he replaced the entire front end of the outer panels and all of the underside supports and matched the paint perfect. I expect my wife to either be in a nursing home or more strokes may kill her. I don't have the accident report since it's been almost 4 years since the accident. The Hyundai Accent is a death trap in my opinion and should not be on our united states roads at all. That car will kill you in the slightest accident and my wife is turning into a vegetable before my eyes. Thank you, james l kirby in coker, alabama 35452. She did have a witness that was installing cable tv lines on a power pole she almost hit. We did file a lawsuit against and the attorney settled for about $10,000. 00 and he sold us out. She can't have nursing care for that amount.
