Vehicle Speed Control problem #4

My daughter was driving on highway at about 60 mph with my wife and grandson when she lost accelerator function on her Hyundai Azera (2009 model). I am very concerned that this is a safety hazard. Is this a common problem and what can be done that it does not occur again? the dealer stated that the throttle sensor failed and shutdown the system. I am still skeptical that the could have caused a very accident and loss of life and property. Is it safe for her to drive this car?.
