I own a 2010 Hyundai Elantra that has experienced a sudden loss of power steering assist on multiple occasions. When this happens, the steering wheel becomes very difficult to turn, especially when maneuvering at low speeds or parking. The eps light comes on and stays illuminated. This creates a serious safety hazard, particularly when driving with children or in traffic. I am aware of Hyundai recall 127 (NHTSA campaign 15v100000), which addresses the same issue, but my VIN is not included. I am requesting that Hyundai investigate and provide the same repair remedy for vehicles outside the initial recall VIN range that are experiencing identical failures.
Vehicle caught on fire under apt complex carport causing extensive damage to property and 2 other vehicles.
Eps fails, the steering wheel becomes very hard.
My brake lights are not going off when I take my foot off of the brake pedal. I have had to start disconnecting the battery cable so it will not drain the battery. I stop lamp switch replaced when it was recalled. And the steering wheel tilt does not stay in the high spot it falls to the lowest position.
After diagnose, dtc c1604 ecu hardware error and dtc c2412 motor short or open malfunctioning, recommended replace eps system.
So I was driving my vehicle like normal and all of a sudden the driver airbag light came on on the dash and as I’m getting closer to home my check engine light came on my abs came on as well as my eps and my tps , was losing power to the vehicle. I made it home, put it in park and smoke started rolling. Look under the hood. There’s a fire under the hood. I’m not sure what all damage it has caused, but it appears to be coming from the abs and the electrical I don’t know what damage was caused by the abs catching fire, but I was unaware that there was a problem with the vehicle, I am I just bought the vehicle in may and it’s just happened August 11 of 2023.
Abs module short circuit, I am aware of the current recall in effect for 2011 Hyundai Elantra's but it should be noted that my vehicle also has the same issue, short circuit causing the abs motor to run constantly. Issue was discovered by mechanic, I opted to disconnect the abs module, as replacement is unaffordable. Is there any plan to expand the recall to include my vehicle?.

I bought this vehicle used, just three years ago. It had a little over 100k miles on it. Since purchase date, the car has died at least eight times and I've had to take it in for inspection four times. It has had three different batteries. The service techs have not been able to find anything technically wring with the car: alternator fine, engine fine, batteries fine, no reported power draws. . . Yet I am still continuously finding myself stuck with a dead car. There was a bluetooth system in the vehicle when I bought it, but the second time it died, the service tech removed it in case that was what was drawing out power. However, it had died six times since.
Jerky steering action for last month. Now eps light has come onto dashboard.

2010 Hyundai Elantra: recently experienced a vehicle fire. It occurred on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. . I parked my vehicle on the street per usual and maybe 15 minutes after arriving home from work my mother began yelling that was my vehicle was in flames! I opened the front door and saw it was indeed in flames and popping and smoking. I immediately called 911 whom sent out the fire department. After they were able to distinguish the fire, they determined the cause to be electrical in nature considering the battery of the vehicle was completely gone. I have the case number as well. My vehicle was turned off and parked and randomly caught fire. Thankfully I wasnt in it when it happened or things could have beem alot worse. But I am now without a vehicle and on top of that I had to pay to get the vehicle removed from my apartments property.
The light eps , (electronic power steering) randomly turns on and my steering wheel would be stiff and I need to put great effort to turn. Sometimes I'll stop and turn off and on the car to remove the eps. Now on 10/11/2020 the eps light stays on. I might have a car that had a recall for 127. Its dangerous to have my car like this.
The front windows stopped working first then the driver's side doors stopped locking consistently using a remote and finally the alarm would go off daily when the car was not on. Direct sunlight was a factor for the alarm as the problem seemed to not happen on rainy cloudy days. There was no way to disable the alarm. Took to the dealer in annapolis MD and they had to replace all electrics in the doors, the hood sensor switch, and the key ignition before the problem stopped. This was over a 2 year period and was fixed in summer of 2020.
The airbag warning indicator light turned on and would go on and off, but wouldn't tell me whether it is for the passenger light (which has become faulty sometimes having a false positive or false negative to whether the passenger is there), but most recently has stayed on permanently with the passenger light correctly reading off - it is unclear whether that means that there is an electrical issue or if the driver's side would not deploy. It is unclear what is wrong with the airbag overall and if the car has switched off airbag deployment. The warning light has switched off a few times seemingly indicating everything is fine, however it now stays on regardless of where driven.
My car continually will not start. I've had to have the battery jumped several times via roadside assistance. I could drive it one day and the next day, its dead. I even bought a new battery thinking that this was the problem, but the issue persists. I think this may be a major issue. The car was always parked. My car insurance policy attached has the record of how many times I've had to call roadside assistance to jumpstart the cat.
A few months after I purchased this car the electric power steering (eps light ) light came on and so I looked up my VIN number to see if the car has ever had any recalls and that was one of the recalls . And I was told that if a car has any recalls the manufacturer if required to fix it free of charge .
The car alarm keeps going off without any activity ( parked and locked in my drive way). I have looked the car over but so far I see no reason for the alarm to be triggered.
Window motor failed and window gets stuck down happened several times.
Had been driving to store and when I started it up again the eps light was red.
Door handle defective. Mirror defective.
My transmission slips. There are an alarming amount of online forums showing this is an all too common problem with this vehicle yet no recall has been issued. I am also having problems with 3 out of the 4 power windows. The issue seems to be amother default in this model car because there were also plenty of others with this same issue. All 3 went out at the same time. The mechanic tried replacing the motor and other internal parts but it still will not work. The mechanic was unable to fix the problem.

The contact had taken the vehicle to several independent mechanics who were unable to fix the failure. The contact had yet to take the vehicle to a dealer to be serviced. The contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that the alarm randomly activated without warning. At times, the transmitter/fob failed to function properly. In addition, the function button was used to open the trunk of the vehicle and it drained the battery to the point that the vehicle was unable to be driven. The contact had to have the battery recharged. The dealer was notified of the failure. Upon taking the vehicle to the dealer more than once, they were unable to replicate and diagnose the vehicle. The failure continued to the point that the vehicle also randomly failed to start and the contact had to make several attempts. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was not available.
Recall was performed on 4/22/15 at no charge. Bought car from dad on 5/26/15. 7 months later the (eps) light come on and I lose steering. If you shut the car off and turn on the light goes out. Its happening every other day. I think this still falls under the recall. I should be able to get fixed for no charge. Places are wanting money and have my car for a few days. Recall says 1hr . Says if not satisfied to write you. Please review. Pretty dangerous driving condition. Have no other car. Eps light comes on in motion, turning, mostly at slow speeds. Then lose steering. Here is a picture. I also have video on the road but it wont send.
Stop lamp switch recall.
The dash lights flash and the key when removed from column is hot.
When turning the car off and removing keys, it doesn't turn completely off. I have to put the keys back into the ignition, turn on and remove again roughly to make the car turn off. This has been happening for a few months.
Engine turned off while I was at a stop light. I notice something was wrong when the car suddenly went silent without even the typical engine vibrations. The check engine as well as other notifications were illuminated on the dashboard. I cannot say exactly which ones because I was too focused on getting my car out of traffic. I turned the ignition key off and on again and that seemed to fix the problem (or at least the car started again and no warning lights were illuminated. ) this is an incredibly scary problem and I am thankful it happened while I was at a stop and was able to quickly get out of traffic. I plan to take the car back to the Hyundai service center as it was just there (3 days ago) for a 30k maintenance, recall fix, and headlight bulb replacement.
I was driving my car to a doctors appointment when I was making a turn into the parking lot the steering wheel would not move and the eps light came on. I struggled to park the car and after my dr. Appointment called my husband and he drove the car to brandon Hyundai where I purchased the car they took the car in and we got a rental car. They replaced column & shaft assy-steerin 56310-2h250 and bolt-safety lock 81919-31000 qty 2 work order says found steering column shorted out replace module, test ok 731sz recall 110-31c017r0 - stop lamp switch repl installed 93810-4dr0a-qqh switch assy-brake pedal qty 1 then there was another time on December 26, 2014 my granddaughter was driving the car and making a right turn from a two lane road onto a two lane road where cars where stopped at a red light when the steering wheel would not turn and the eps light came on and she hit 2 cars that where at the light. My car had $6002. 36 in damage on it. The unibody on the car had to be pulled and squared and an alligment was also done. Thank god no one was hurt but what are the chances of this happening again only worse. When it was only a little over four (4) months since it was fixed. I am afraid to drive this car. That someone may be killed.
Earlier this summer my front passenger window, driver control would roll the window down but not up, then about 2 months later the same issue with the driver side rear window it is very puzzling how the driver control will lower the involved windows, but its as if the driver controls are dead when trying to roll up??? but if you use the up switch on the door the window is associated with they work both ways. Risky in some of the areas I have to travel for work to reach over or behind you to put up windows! had anyone experienced these problems?.
