I noticed my 2013 Hyundai Elantra was making a sound from the driver side( in 2018 )wheel when I turn and also the car sways when driving at slow speed. I reported it to the Hyundai of las vegas dealership where I bought my Hyundai from on 6/2017 but they said I had no extended warranty. I then received a "recall notice" for the 2013 Hyundai Elantra (1/29/2018) and took it back to Hyundai of las vegas who fixed a brake pedal defect free of charge. I know there are 29 Hyundai consumer complaints reported to the NHTSA about the "swaying motion" on Hyundais that is a safety issue related to the suspension which should be on the recall priority list to in my opinion since I am making monthly payments for my used Hyundai. It will cost the price of a new car after I am done paying off the entire car loan I owe.
I purchased my car in 2015. I was loving this car until I was on wet/bumpy roads. I applied the brakes to stop. The Hyundai started making a grinding noise. When I applied the brakes it felt like the brakes was going all the way to the floor. When it is snowing I can't drive the car because the brake gets locked up and makes a lot of noise. This car is dangerous to drive in inclement weather. Also this car suspension is horrible. You feel all the bumps in the road. Hyundai needs to do a recall on this car. Most of my problems with this car was driving in the city. Driving on wet roads coming to a stop or hitting a bump in the road. The car swerves and make aloud grabbing noise. Sounds like the brakes are coming up through the floor. I love the car but don't love the way it drives. I had to replace the front rotors and brake pad with a full alignment. This vehicle still drives the same way even when all this work was completed.
When going over any road defects or abnormalities, while driving the car, I have become aware of how the suspension is on this vehicle makes noises, fishtails, and seems to bottom out with any speed bump. Rear wheels seem to lose traction when hitting any type of small hole, crack, or drop in road flatness. Suspension also sways awkwardly with certain turns. Only getting more and more noticeable as the car continues to age.
The car literally rides like a truck, with a very light back end. When going over even slight bumps the ride (suspension) feels like a big hole or very rough road. There are times when the back end does not feel very stable when going of "washboard types of roads". Road noise is distinctly loud at times.
The brakes make horrible creaking and grinding noises when wet. Sometimes it will even cause the car to shake. I have contacted Hyundai several times and they do not take this serious. I have taken it to the dealership several times and they have not been able to fix it. I just took it in last week and they even tried to get me to pay 100 for a cleaning of the brake components, I feel I should not have to pay to fix a problem we have had since we bought the car new and have had it in several times and they have not been able to fix it. I am not confident driving the car now and clearly no one would want it buy it off us when it makes such horrible noises. I also believe it cannot be safe and will cause premature failure of the brake calipers and / or possible the ball joints or front steering suspension. I think they have a faulty design in the brake hydraulics and the differential pressures between the front and rear brakes are not right.
