: the contact stated while attempting to restrain a child in a safety seat with the left rear seat belt, the seat belt buckle assembly fractured without warning. Additionally, the front seat belt webbing strap tightened when engaged during normal use. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who was unable to determine the cause of buckle assembly fracture, but determined the front seat belt was designed that way. The manufacturer was notified. While traveling on wet pavement, consumer and another vehicle collided head on, consumers seat belt did not lock, nor did the air bags deploy, consumer sustained several injuries and had to be rushed into surgery.
Rear center seatbelt would not come loose, and started to choke child's neck. Police had to cut seatbelt in order to get loose. Dealer has not seen.
