Driver side sliding door opened spontaneously and would not stay closed. It didn't matter which button I tried (driver control, door jamb, or key fob), door would not stay closed. I powered it closed to drive to dealer - stopping several more times to re-power it closed on the way. Part had to be ordered, so I repeated the above to return home. I was concerned about the safety lighting on the doors draining the battery while unlatched door sat in garage. By the time the part arrived (after christmas), car battery was at '0' charge (battery is only six months old). I had to contact aaa to get the car started to drive it to the dealer. My concern is that there is no manual override for the automatic doors, and no off switch for the automatic door lighting that drained my battery. I could have been on a freeway, I could have had passengers or goods in my back seat - serious safety issues! of course I need to have the problem repaired, but for safety's sake, I should have had the option to switch off the automatic door and manually close it. If I had not been in my neighborhood, this could have been much more serious. The next safety issue is the fact that the broken door drained my battery to zero! again, what if I had not been home? my 2007 Hyundai Entourage has only 53500 miles on it, I have no small children who abuse the doors, and I responsibly maintain my vehicle. The doors have already been serviced on two previous occasions. Please create a manual override for the automatic sliding doors.

Driver side power sliding door opened while driving and will not close manually or using the power button.
The problem started out where the power to the rear sliding doors started to stick, make a crunching noise and beep when trying to close. Then the power would not work at all. I switched the doors to manually open and close, which as fine for awhile. Then it started to beep and the door open sign would light on the dash but would still be shut. I would then pull over and close the door and lock it. Then one day with my six year old son and dog in the back it opened wide as I was turning on to a highway. I had to pull over almost causing an accident . We have noticed that the locking mechanism is not latching and now we have to tie the door shut because it will try to open every time I make a right hand turn. The door ajar light and the beeping is constant now. I have seen that there are numerous complaints about this same problem!.

Both of our Hyundai Entourage sliding doors failed after approximately 65,000 miles. At first they wouldn't close all of the way or lock when using the electric door feature. Then, the problem occurred when closing the doors manually. Then, the electric feature totally stopped working all together and the doors still didn't fully close or lock when closed manually. We had it fixed and were told that the motors on the doors had burned out. This is surprising that these doors don't last longer given that it is a highlighted feature of the minivan; they should be able to withstand more use. I am suspect of this characterization of this problem.
