The area in the dash where the passenger airbag is contained recently got two cracks along the edges of the airbag compartment as if the airbag tried to go off and didn't. There was no collision, the dash just cracked. The very next day the airbag light came on and had been on ever since. This seems to be a common problem. With. These cars. Hyundai needs to step it up.
The dashboard near front passenger side airbag is cracked and Hyundai wouldn’t tell me if it affects airbag deployment or safety.

My VIN# does not appear in the recall listing of Hyundai vehicles that are at risk for fires, but 2014 models should be. The original engine was replaced on 12/9/2020, as something melted inside, causing it to seize up. It was replaced with a used engine, with only 51,000 miles. My engine compartment caught on fire, on 10/3/2021, while my son was driving the vehicle on the highway. This model also needs to be placed on the recall list for fire risk!.

The dab module assembly (air bag system) driver's side has to be replaced due to failure. Only warning was a creaking sound from the steering column when turning. Although I have an extended warranty, never been in an accident, and the car is only 6 years old with 44,000 miles, the extended warranty for the air bags is only for 5 years. The cost to replace the dab is over $900. 00. I feel strongly that Hyundai should cover the cost.

The dash cover on my 2009 Genesis 4-door sedan has developed large cracks where the passenger side air bag is located. The concern is that this may cause the air bag to deploy inadvertently or increase the chance of flying shrapnel if/when the air bag should deploy during an accident. This problem started around 90,000 miles and has continued to get worse (the vehicle currently has approximately 125,000 miles). I took the vehicle to the dealer when the problem first appeared, but was told it was not a safety concern, and that it was not covered under the warranty. However, I feel this in fact could cause injury to anyone riding in the front passenger seat. 1 picture is attached.

The outline of the passenger side sea airbag seems to be opening as though the airbag will come out at any moment. There are 2 perfect cuts on the dashboard where the airbag is as thought the airbag is tried to deploy but couldnt. I noticed one line about 2 months ago and the other line today 8/15/20.
The airbag is defective and will not deploy. No idea as to the cause as this was a recently purchased car. No outstanding airbag recalls and yet no reported accidents and no history of airbag deployment. The dealer who sold us the car assumes a manufacturer defect.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that the passenger's side frontal air bag inflator slits were visible from a crack in the dashboard. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Driver lost control of vehicle going around curve, car turned out and slid off the road, making contact with a tree (rear of the vehicle hit the tree).
The area in my dashboard where my airbag is is starting to split. I have contacted Hyundai and let them know as I feel that this is a safety issue. It is coming open and I am concerned that the airbag will either deploy or not operate correctly if needed. I have seen where this is a common occurance is this vehicle and I feel that it wanrrants a recall.
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that the passenger frontal air bag enclosure was fractured. The contact further stated that there was a separation between the air bag and the enclosure. The contact was concerned that, in the event of a crash, someone could be injured or killed. The approximate failure mileage was 75,777.
I put in a new battery and some of them the memory doesn't work right.
I was backing out of my garage. My son had his car parked behind me. I saw that I was going to have to pull up to get around the parked car. I put my foot on the brake, I then put the car in drive. Took my foot off the gas and it took off at rocket speed. I wasn't completely out of my garage. The car was going so fast and I couldn't stop it. I was 6 ft from the brick wall. I was going so fast that I went through the brick wall and it didn't even slow down. It kept going took out a chain link fence. Then came to a stop and died. What stopped me was all the brick and fence that was under the car. If it had not stopped it would have killed me. This happened at my home. There was no police report.
The airbag on my dashboard the seam has split. My car is not parked in the sun and this started off as inch now it extends to the hold side of the airbag.
There is a split across my dash were the air big is I call the main office and I was told that they will not fix it. My concern is my family safety.
My car went airborne when I hit a railroad crossing with a steep drop off, landed in a ditch and flipped several times end over end, landing upside down. I was airlifted to an area hospital. Only 1 of the 6 airbags deployed. I lost feeling in the side of my face where my head broke the driver's side window and almost bled out. I now have seizures and was recently fired from my job due to having 2 seizures at work. I have only worked part time in the last 2 years. If the air bags had deployed, I would've walked away uninjured. I was also trapped when my hand went through the top window. I was left hanging and had to hold my face with my free hand to stop the bleeding until help arrived. If top airbags would've deployed, my hand wouldn't have been caught under the vehicle. I expected all 6 airbags to work when I bought this vehicle. The impact of the crash should've made all these airbags deploy. The vehicle was completely totaled.
I was involved in a moving two car collision on a city street intersection. After everything came to a stop, I realized my airbag did not work. My front end was totally damage. One of the two metal bar-beans holding the bumper was completely broke; and the radiator pushed completely into the engine. For the grace of god, I was steering with both hands.
Airbag I brought my car in to have the airbag and dash checked by Hyundai dealer in west palm beach florida. The dash around my airbag has cracked in a perfect line at the air bag location photo attached. They refused to check the airbag. However they contacted Hyundai and asked for dash replacement. Hyundai was willing to pay for the dash part but not any labor to install new dash or to check my airbag to make sure it will not go off. I am asking for help to get my airbag checked and also have the dash removed and replaced by Hyundai. I am very concerned that this passenger airbag is affected by the recall. I need this checked out before an insistent happens. Please help. They also refused to put anything in writing. Phone case number 8648772.
Car was involved in a head on crash at approx 45 - 50 mph yet no air bags deployed.
I was driving very slow, about 1-2 miles per hour, as I turned right I head a very loud "explosion pop" and the headrests popped out of their housing.
The vehicle, a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 5. 0 in relatively slow motion entering a parking lot, was involved in a passenger side impact accident on 10/6/15. The other car sustained frontal damage and was towed but the Genesis remained drivable. Four (4) days later, on 10/10/15, while in motion, the passenger side and curtain airbags spontaneously deployed.
My wife was hit from the rear and pushed into a tree dead center. The air bag did not inflate she received 4 broken ribs and a broken chest bone she was making a u turn and the other car was speeding and hit her in the rear and pushed her 100 feet across the street into a tree.
The adjustment on the steering column for telescopic/up/down adjustments doesn't hold the steering wheel in place, even under light pressure like trying to honk the horn, the column just pushes in. Since the column cannot stay in place under light pressure, it won't stay in place if the driver's airbag is deployed possibly causing severe injury or death. I first noticed this problem back in 2015, the local deal refused to fix the problem and wanted me to pay for the new steering column and the labor to replace it.

The contact also stated that the air bag warning light also inadvertently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and was diagnosed with the wiring harness needing to be replaced. The engineer was not heard from and the vehicle was not inspected. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
While traveling at 65mph the car was cut off and the abs did not work, the rear fishtailed and lost control, slamming into a guardrail at 65mph, the right passenger side front and back were severely impacted, and no air bags were deployed at time of crash. Seat belts did not hold and passengers were hurt. Air bag, failure and seatbelt failure are the major problems with this vehicle.
