My wife came home an told me that the car had accelerated on it's own. I took it for a drive after she had shut it off, and found no problems. This happened several months ago, and she took it to the local dealer, and they could not find a problem. This pass weekend the same thing happened to me. I even drove up a hill to see if it would keep on accelerating, and it did. I had to pull over to the side of the road and turn the car off. When I restarted, it worked normally. The cruise control was off.

Brakes are a continuing problem or better said bad brakes, like sometimes going to the floorboard. The esc dash light is on and the cruise control doesn't work either. I had completed a recall on the brake fluid, but shortly after that my my petal went to the floor. Being concerned, I replaced the master cylinder, brake rotors, brake lines and pads. Upon bleeding the system, the dealers new brake fluid came out with sludge floating on top of clear fluid. I contacted the dealers general mgr. And complained of a bad drain repair. He asked me to bring my car in and they'll check it again. I showed him the pictures and they denied that it came from my car, but they would fix my car's brakes for $2700. 00 with no guarantee that it wouldn't cost more. This was tom ah dealer ship in lima, ohio. I feel that Hyundai should be held responsible for these brake problems. I have the fluid saved and pictures also. Upon checking the internet, I have been advised that the esc and cruise control is wired to the abs system. I was on interstate 75 and the car just started applying the brakes by themselves. A ratcheting on off effect. I slowed the car down and pulled the car over to the side. I was within sight of my turnoff state rte 274 OH, so I continued on. I went to stop and my petal went to the floor. I was going slow, made my turn and stopped. I got under the hood just to see if something visual was there. I was within 7 miles of my home a straight line, so I went for it. I pressed on the gas and my left front wheel was locked up. I backed up and went forward again, shutting off the car & restarting it. Brake was released, but petal still went to the floor. I drove home 20 mph, had car towed to dealer for repair. Don't know what they did, but charged $677. 00. A couple days later, my petal went to the floor again. Thats when I did the repairs noted above. Still have problems.

Electronic gremlins periodically hit. -at random times the front or rear sensors don't "see" objects. I have kissed bumpers with another car when neither of us saw the other, and my Genesis failed to see. It's allowed me on at least two occasions to pull too close to objects in front. -worse, there are random episodes where the adaptive cruise control fails to see traffic in front of it. Numerous times we have narrowly missed collisions when we had to quickly and forcefully apply brakes. I've experienced this as has my wife and more importantly clients! -the self-retracting mirrors frequently to not work properly and we have to manually override.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Genesis. While driving approximately 25 mph, the cruise control erroneously activated and could not be turned off. While depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would slow down but the cruise control would not deactivate. After switching the transmission to neutral, the rpms immediately increased to 5,000. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cruise control module failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,300.

Sudden loss of power at freeway speed. Driving at freeway speed late at night with adaptive cruise control on, I accelerated and changed lanes to the left to avoid a collision with an inattentive driver. Immediately after changing lanes to the right to return to my lane, the car stopped responding to throttle input. Rpm gradually decreased to zero and the car stalled. No warning lights until the engine stopped at the right shoulder of the freeway. I restarted the engine. Still no warning lights. The car entered a limp-home mode with max rpm around 1500, very slow acceleration, max speed about 50 mph. It did not stall again during the 10 mile trip home. Towed to dealer. Dealer states that the obd2 fault code was p1230, low fuel pressure. The technician test drove the car and reproduced the behavior. Initial diagnosis was "failure of high-pressure fuel pump. " today (5 days after incident) the dealer states that Hyundai tech support recommends additional diagnostics prior to replacing the fuel pump.

My 2010 Hyundai Genesis was recalled for a defective faulty break switch in 2014 and the required service was performed 7/30/15. The following day I engaged the cruise control at 75 mph but almost rear ended the car in front of me because the integrated speed control did not activate. The cruise control also turned completely off at times. I've returned the car twice to remedy the problem and was told they could not find a solution and have requested assistance from Hyundai. I waited almost 2 months with no word from Hyundai and finally went to the dealership on 9/22/15 and was told they were still waiting for instruction from Hyundai and they now have a second car with the same problem. I feel this is very dangerous and want to post this listing because I believe lifes are at stake and owners of these vehicles will more than likely be ticketed for causing accidents and, worse case scenario, be charged with vehicular manslaughter.

1) almost hit from oncoming traffic at a stop light, when I was attempting to make a left hand turn. The signal turned yellow so I tried to turn left before I realized the oncoming car was going to run the light. I took my foot off the brake and hit the gas to make a quick turn to avoid the oncoming car. The car stalled for a second as I pressed the gas into the turn, then kicked into full power, screeching the tires. I thought this was a fluke but his same problem of "stalling" for a few seconds when depressing the brake and hitting the gas at takeoff keeps happening intermittently. This is a dangerous issue. When needing to accelerate quickly from a stop, this car has a seconds gap from hitting the gas to the car moving. I've almost been hit twice because of it. 2) the headlights switch off intermittently when using the turn signals to change lanes or turn. They flash oncoming drivers as I click down to turn them on before the turn, or when the turn signal clicks back after the turn. This problem happens almost every time I drive the vehicle with the headlights on. The lights have shut off completely for about 5 seconds while I was driving down the freeway, impairing my ability to see at night. I had to immediately pull over on the freeway in an unsafe location to turn the lights off, then turn them back on to clear the problem. 3) my vehicle had the brake switch replaced from the 2013 recall. However, pressing the brake still does not shut off the cruise control when driving down the freeway. I have to manually turn it off from the button on the steering wheel. I love this car, but I'm afraid to drive my children in it if these problems are not addressed. This vehicle is unsafe and it is going to kill or seriously injure people. Please investigate these mechanical problems and issue the appropriate recalls.
I had 2 accidents on 7/7/2013. One low speed rear end collision with a Mini-van. The other was a high speed rear end collision with large RV. Both times I had the cruise control engaged, and could not stop the vehicle using the car's brake pedal system. I was eventually taken to an er, then admitted to an icu ward. I sustained a concussion, bruises, and abrasions. Most of what happened in the high speed collision are of temporary moments of memories due to the concussion and loss of consciousness. I am quite upset to have gone through these accidents with a new 2013 Hyundai Genesis that was rented from enterprise rental car from logan airport in boston mass. There was no airbag deployment in either accident. Car was towed away and do not currently know the VIN of the vehicle that I am reporting.
While traveling at the posted highway speed I had the cruise control engaged when suddenly the car lurched, then surged. I started/tried to use the brakes to slow the car. That didn't work. I tried to disengage the cruise control. . . That didn't work. . . . Car kept speeding up till I hit a massive RV at 90mph. I was knocked unconscious, taken by ambulance to a trauma center, and later learned that none of the many airbags that this car had did not deploy. I am truly blessed having survived this accident. There needs to be better vehicles with better working systems to protect us. I will not rent another Hyundai ever again!!.
Over the past two months I've experienced three cases of uncontrolled acceleration. Specifically, as I'm driving the car begins to accelerate. I remove my foot from the accelerator and the car continues to accelerate. As I step on the brake the car will slow down, but it's "fighting" me. As I remove my foot from the brake the car begins to accelerate again. If I shift into neutral while this is happening, the rpm's on the car increase very rapidly. The only way I can stop this is to turn the car off. I'm not using cruise control and I have been traveling from 35 to 40 mph. I can't recreate this problem at will and neither can the dealer - so nobody at the dealership has any idea what to do. They have contacted Hyundai with no luck.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that he attempted to use the cruise control feature and the feature failed. The contact stated that he was driving 30 mph and wanted to accelerate up to 40 mph, but when he stopped accelerating with the switch, the vehicle continued to accelerate on its own. The contact stated that he had to disengage the cruise control in order to slow the vehicle down. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for an inspection. The dealer test drove the vehicle and stated that there was no problem. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was operating as normal. The failure mileage was 200.
