Equipment Problems of Hyundai Genesis - part 2

My vechile stalls while driving at various times. This could cause a serious accident in which lives could be lost . This eems to be problem with the Genesis from 2012 to 2016 from my research. I am not the only owner with this problem . The dealers cant find the problem or why it is occuring . The dealers give you numerous reasons as to what might be the cause of this problem, but they are not sure . This could cost a consumer $1000 of dollars just to find out what the problem is . This occurs when just driving down a street, on curves or going straight. I have not had an accident yet! im trying to avoid this . This occurs when my gas tank gets low , that is what I have noticed .

Complete loss of all power supply and total mechanical system/engine no longer operational.

Car shut off full power off while on a residential road and I went across the road up a slanted small hill and ran over tree and yard debris.

Transmission failed after putting in gear it makes a thump every time I put into reverse and drive this is my second transmission from Hyundai.

The shark fin cover fell off for no apparent reason. No automated car washes, no inclement weather and the screw holders (plastic) broke. Has to be a manufacturing defect. I can't find replacement cover. I was driving on a highway on a clear night.

Navigation display failure resulting in no back-up camera, no a/v functions, and hvac control malfunction. Dealer replaced within approximately 8 months of purchase. System has failed again and corporate advised that the part was on backorder and we waited for a replacement part for 8 months. Now corporate has advised that the part, a-v monitor assembly part #965633m851, is unavailable/discontinued. No way to repair or replace the part. Vehicle has 44,000 miles on it. Sunroof failed within first 20,000 miles and was sealed to avoid expensive repair. Most recently the car died without warning while stationary. In for evaluation now. This car has been a chronic problem since we first purchased it and corporate has told us that we are at a dead end regarding the a/v monitor assembly - there is nothing they can do. A/v monitor assembly issue occurred in June of 2020.

There are 3 recalls that are found on my vehicle,2013 Hyundai Genesis coupe 2. 0t 15v756000, recall # 135,151,135 power train; driveline. Differential unit suspension rear.

I was driving in the road about 50mph and with the wet road. I lost the car control without any reason, even with the low speed. Looks like the break or the abs system wasn’t working and I got hydroplaning and an accident.

Car has shut off twice while driving at a slow speed. Jerks then shuts off while in drive and foot on brake. I had to put the car in park and restart it with no issues. No lights or any thing came on. I was at a stop sign.

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated while driving about about 35 mph the sunroof exploded. The contact also stated the temperature was about 54 degrees. The Hyundai was notified of the failure. The manufacturer stated they will send an investigator to review the failure. The dealership was made aware of the failure. The dealership issued a loaner vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 42,525. Bh.

At approximately 10:30 pm. While driving on hwy at fairly good speed of 73-75 mph, while on cruise control, the engine died and steering became difficult to none at all, all while engine was completely off. Car could not be started again. Vehicle is currently non-operable and parked. It appears I am the third owner of the is vehicle. Your assistance is appreciated.

When in motion, the vehicle starts to make a clanking sound repetitivly as if it was on a rotation. It's like a metronome best at 128bpm.

I've seen a lot of these cars and read about a lot of these cars with transmission problems I was sitting on a regular road in park my car slipped into reverse with no warning what so ever while the gear stick was still in drive I think these could have been built stronger or safer to avoid this and that was just one incident out of about 20 but that was by far the worst.

Freeway driving at speed limit (65mph) passenger seat head rest self energized causing passenger to become unconcious for one or two minutes, without warning. Auto had no accicents nor any other damage to headrest or seat. Passenger comment after he became concious was "why did you hit me. " preceeded by a noise like a metal pipe being dropped. There was no reason for the 'rear end collision sensor located at seat base to energize. The headrest came forward striking back of head causing a possible concusion. A different result would have caused death if it was the driver side. Failure was caused be spring tension continious on plastic and both the front and rear pieces, but only the front part is available for repair. This forces replacement of the entire headrest assembly. (quoted $792). Repair not available in a timely manner.

Back up camera. I have replaced the back up camera 3x and it is still messing up. No longer under warranty, when it was like I said it was replaced 3x. The back up camera acts up when put in reverse, it shows a blue screen at times other times it glitches and shows black and white, etc.

Well it only happens on hot day or in summer. In stop and go traffic. While I'm driving the car all of a sudden gas fumes fill up the inside of my car so bad that I gottta pull over for a while. The other day it happen to me again and I almost passed out while driving. I've taken the car to the dealership several times before and they tell me that theirs nothing wrong with it or they don't know what it is. I've ownd the car since it was new and it's been doing this since then. Now that it almost made me black out while driving was the last srraw for me. It's made me have headaches before but not pass out like the other day. This is why I'm reporting this to you guys hoping you could help me. This only happens when I'm I. Stop and go traffic in the city when it's really hot out.

The power trunk hatch malfunctions, opening the trunk either partially or completely. Unfortunately it does not close completely unless using the trunk button inside the vehicle. One incident, the trunk attempted to close without warning or notice. No button was activated to close at the time. The trunk would open when the vehicle was stationary, in motion on the roadway, and when the vehicle was powered off. All were isolated instances. It is unknown what may be causing the malfunction, however has progressively became worst from the onset. I was able to utilize the "valet trunk lockout feature" for now, deactivating the trunk functions. I'm scheduled to meet with the Hyundai dealership for an inspection of the vehicle soon. I've also contacted the manufacturer regarding this issue.

Stalled twice on the same day - stalled while turning right at the entrance of roundabout at local school. Car lost control due to stall and went cross the opposite lane. All dash lights were on similar to turning car on without turning engine. Fortunately no cars on the opposite side. Quickly shifted to neutral and tried to start the engine. It took 2-3 secs for the engine to start. - stalled again 2 hours later on the same outing when turning right to local restaurant. Car lost control going into parking lot. All dash lights were on. - this is at least the tenth time it happened in our 6 years of ownership with 100k miles on the car. Previous filed odi number 10606872, 10746269, 11221909, 11221913 and 11221917. - weather condition: above 80 degrees. It is possible that the issue has to do with hot weather. Purely speculation here. I also reported may 23rd, 2015 incident to Hyundai customer service back in June 29th, 2015. There were no reply from Hyundai. I will file another compliant to Hyundai again. I was driving home on the highway when suddenly I hear a loud noise like a someone shot a shotgun through my window, to then realize my whole sunroof had shattered.

While driving when I go to stop or slow down the brake pedal goes to the floor. It's real hard to stop the car, I brought it to the dealer and I was told that it's the hecu a 3,000 $ fix. I know that other Genesis owners have complained of the same problem. It's very dangerous for me and other vehicles around me. I know that Hyundai has recalled other vehicles for this problem due to faulty brake fluid that distroys the hecu. It sure seems to be what happened to mine.

Temporary spare has a split in the tread area. Never used. Took it out to clean trunk and noticed a flat spot on the tread and then the tear.

The first incidence occurred a few months after purchase when we noticed that an emergency warning light went off while traveling to a vacation. It then went off after a few hours so we waited until our return to report it to the dealer, sunbury motor company Hyundai division in sunbury, PA. They set up an appointment and I assumed fixed the problem because this specific light never went on again. We did notice and reported that at times the beeping and lighting up of the collision warning safety feature did not work properly. This actually resulting in a small scrap directly below the sensor while parking. We made another appointment but they could not find the cause. I asked our salesperson, chris faust, if this would result in a charge on our leased vehicle and he said no it was an easy fix. We were leaving for our annual snowbird trip to florida in a few days and the lease was over shortly after we returned home so I said it wasn't that noticeable. We would not be able to take it in for repair. Chris said that it would not be a problem upon inspection and if questioned they would repair it before. I said fine. While in florida, close to the time for our trip home we were almost in an accident when a vehicle suddenly stopped in front of us while pulling out of a shopping center unto a busy street. None of the warning systems or auto braking systems worked and the result was missing the vehicle by inches along with severely jolting my wife and I. It did result in a neck injury to me which I thought was muscular and would go away but it did not. The injury was treated and is still being treated. After reading some of the safety issues with the Hyundai Genesis we decided not to purchase the vehicle. Both Hyundai and sunbury motors were aware of the last incidence but have not acknowledged it. Our attorney recommended that we make you aware of the issue.

Hyundai is telling me the problem with tire tread wear is a problem with the tire manufacturer. The tire manufacturer is telling me the problem is with a design of the 2015 Genesis sedans suspension. Inside rear tire wear is extreme, and had I not complained about vibration and cabin sound, ultimately seeking professional help in seeing the wear at a tire company, we might have very easily lost our lives. Our michelin tires are warranted to 45 k miles, we were advised by our cars dealer (Hyundai of evansville) to replace and align the 4 wheels, at a large cost, this is at 22,914 miles ! raben tire, a michelin dealer, here in evansville tells me the car may very well have a suspension-alignment problem. It will cost us over $1000. 00 to be safe for a while with tire replacement and alignment. Hyundai will not even give us the satisfaction of a return call. It is a blatant case of �david vs goliath� ! extreme cabin sound @ 45 to 50 mph, as well as seat and steering wheel vibration while in motion, up through highway speeds.

Most times my car will start when I press the "engine start stop" button my foot is on the brake. Most times it will shut down when the button is pressed. Sometimes it will not. I never know when and if I will have this problem. I took the car to the Hyundai dealer in toms river, NJ. They said it was a faulty start-stop button. I paid them to diagnose the problem. They charged me a diagnostic fee and for a new start-stop button. I drove the car home thinking my problem was solved. The problem was eliminated for two days only to return again. When I advised them of this, I received no assistance. I can not return to this dealer. I simply don't trust them.

Takata recall" 4. The airbag light will not go off. Atlanta police stated I not drive the car and to report it. My family lives could be in danger. No mechanic wanted to touch it. I would very much like to this these items repaired, especially the airbag signal/light. I don't know if it will go off or not but I need this done before anything else. I will upload the picture via email. System issues. I purchased a used 2009 Genesis sedan in September of 2015. We have noticed that several unusual issues have surfaced since the purchase. I was never notified of any of the recalls or potential issues below. 1. The console for the seater heaters are melted or got overheated and is damaged. 2. When the brakes need updated they are very dry (per the repairman) recall - 114. 3. Window shield wiper seems to have a defect.

Afer 45000 miles, the brake pedal seems low -- it takes longer to stop!.

My vehicle showed solid check engine light while I was on 101 freeway and after exiting to city road I could park and read the error code "p0880 power input to tcm", I reported the issue to Hyundai dealer and they diagnosed the issue as internal tcm defect. Dealer replaced the tcm but that couldn't fix the problem. And they just released the car as is. After a short while my car had become unable to reverse, and when set the gear to reverse, my car moves forward to make a very life threatening. I called Hyundai corporate office but they didn't help. Now, I cannot drive my car because it is unsafe and because because I'm not a mechanic to diagnose the problem while the dealer and the corporate don't help. I found out that the model of my car is a subject to recall for gear problem which is exactly what I face now. It seems that both of the dealer and the corporate office are aware of the issue in this particular model but they did not even mentioned it to me until I found it by myself. A car like that is unsafe for me to drive because it runs forward only even when the gear is reverse and if stops I cannot even push it backwards. A car with this defect is dangerous for my community. Please help to force that company either replace the car for me, repurchase or repair it to full operational status. .

The area in my dashboard where my airbag is is starting to split. I have contacted Hyundai and let them know as I feel that this is a safety issue. It is coming open and I am concerned that the airbag will either deploy or not operate correctly if needed. I have seen where this is a common occurance is this vehicle and I feel that it wanrrants a recall.

2009 Hyundai Genesis 3. 8 4d sedan with 55000 miles. Lately, my car dash will blink "p" which is a notification for transmission is on parked even the shifter is in a different mode. This happens randomly and I am worried hope don't lockup transmission during the high speed. I have recorded a video of this scenario if asked. Btw this happens in both in motion or in stationary mode.

I put in a new battery and some of them the memory doesn't work right.

Front inside door lock switch (driver's side) remains in the unlatched position when I attempt to lock door via lock button from inside of car or via key fob from the outside of the car. All other doors (front passenger, left rear, right rear) lock just fine. Hazard: the door may not be in the locked position and may open while the vehicle is in motion, possibly resulting in injury to the driver.
