Hyundai Genesis owners have reported 37 problems related to other fuel system (under the other fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Hyundai Genesis based on all problems reported for the Genesis.
My 2016 Hyundai Genesis started flashing a code stating “check psb” only a week after buying the car. Psb means pre-active seat belt. The seat belts somehow interlink with the fuel pump. My car has a faulty fuel pump module, causing the psb warning to flash, even when the vehicle is in motion. It also causes a loud humming coming from the rear of my car, as I accelerate. I’ve done research, and it says many owners of the same vehicle report the faulty fuel pump module as the culprit, causing the check psb. As well as many owners online stating their vehicle has done the same as mine. There is active recalls on the newer years for this issue, such as the 2023. When the same issue is reported multiple times on the 2016s too, there should be a recall. This is a common issue, & quite frankly a dangerous one. If the fuel pump module is miscommunicating with the seat belts, that could cause them to not react in a collision. I have my vehicle scheduled to be serviced in a few days.

The vehicle had been parked at my residence and powered off for approximately two weeks. Without warning, the vehicle spontaneously caught fire originating from the engine compartment. The vehicle was not running, had not been driven recently, and there was no collision or external fire source. The fire caused extensive damage to the engine bay, wiring, and surrounding components. The passenger cabin was largely unaffected, indicating the fire originated under the hood. There were no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms before the incident. The cause appears to be an electrical or mechanical defect that remained energized while the vehicle was powered off. I later became aware that this vehicle may be subject to a manufacturer recall related to fire risk or electrical defects, and I was never notified prior to this incident.

I've been bringing my car to a repair shop over and over for the past month. Myself and the repair shop had to put a quart of oil once a week in the vehicle. I have spent on numerous things to get down to the problem. The engine is leaking oil. I downloadwd proof leading to the problem I need to get fixed. The problem is still there.

The brake lines and fuel lines were corroded. The corrosion of the brake lines would lead to brake failure and the corrosion of the fuel lines would lead to a fire. The Hyundai dealer was the first to find the brake problem and after inspection by my mechanic, the fuel lines were also found to be corroded. I took my car in for a recall service at the dealer and after the service my brake light would illuminate when decelerating(with or without brakes being applied) .

The car is kept at a dealership in savannah. The recall 251 caused the damage of the abs. The dealership says it is not possible to fix, the manufacturer does not assume any responsiility.
It's termed as a "dead pedal" with the accelerator pedal sensor as to when the accelerator pedal is applied to move the car, the signal to apply gas to the engine to move it , doe's not happen, and the car will not move, momentarily causing a very unsafe situation in traffic. This problem is sporadic and you never know when it will happen. To my knowledge this is happening in the 2009 to 2015 models Hyundai Genesis cars with the 3. 8 and 4. 6 and 5. 0 engines. Any car with the drive by wire is effected with this problem, and should be looked into and repaired. I have not gone to the dealer with this problem and there is no check engine light on when it happens.

Car experience loss of control to accelerator while driving on major highway. The vehicle's speed coasted down from highway speed of 65mph to low 50s before vehicle was safely stopped on roadside emergency breakdown lane. This incident could have easily resulted in a collision with faster-moving traffic. The vehicle has been transported to a dealer for inspection to determine the cause, however this episode appears very similar to a documented issue in 2016 with a faulty fuel harness and low pressure fuel pump. No warnings or indications were present until after the car was turned off and restarted.
Please refer to the articles below, this issue happens after 60k miles & never found a car it was fixed before 60k. Owners are spending over $800 to $1000 to get fixed. In korea, it was recalled back in 2021. Our Genesis are all made in korea. When I contact the Hyundai USA. They won't honor the same service with u. S. Please look into it. Thank you for your time. The fuel door will not open, even with the emergency latch located within the trunk. A cursory search of reddit and other forums has revealed the problem to be widespread among other Hyundai owners, with no solutions offered by Hyundai or Genesis. The safety issue is obvious in that drivers will be stranded in unexpected places.
Car randomly turns off while driving. Sometimes my car will go off. Most of the time it turns back on but that is dangerous.

My 2016 Genesis coupe will spontaneously, randomly accelerate, full throttle. I can't stop it until I throw it into neutral. There doesn't seem to be any common factor for it to happen. More often it was on the start up but sometimes as I was driving in traffic. The incidents are usually far apart. I have nearly wrecked too many times, so I parked it for good until I find the solution. I won't sell it and cause another person to possibly wreck or injure others. The local Hyundai dealership kept it for two months and test drove it but the problem didn't reoccur. They said nothing showed on the diagnostic (that past history on the diagnostic may have been erased) and they found no incident reports on this. So now I don't have transportation as my old truck is in the shop with transmission issues. Prob from over use. I can't afford to buy a new car until I can sell this one. Anyone know anything? the different occurrence is thorough out 2023 until parked approx April 2024.
I was driving home on January 1, 2023 at 5 am at about 60 mph on an interstate when I heard a sound come from the back of my car and then looked into the rearview mirror and smelled smoke and saw fire flames in my rear and side mirrors. I tried to use my brakes to stop my car, but the brakes would not work, so I took it out of drive and put it into park… which slowed the car down and I was able to exit the car right before it burst into flames. The car is now a total loss.
Battery terminal became loose.
On 4/5/2021 my vehicle caught fire while I was driving. The fuel line corroded and shot fuel into the manifold and the engine caught fire and was a total loss. Two other vehicles the same year also caught fire from the same issue within two months.
Purge value failure.
Genesis stalls at slow speeds either turning for going straight. Replaced throttle body, but still stalls. Also has trouble starting sometimes. Battery is new.

Well it only happens on hot day or in summer. In stop and go traffic. While I'm driving the car all of a sudden gas fumes fill up the inside of my car so bad that I gottta pull over for a while. The other day it happen to me again and I almost passed out while driving. I've taken the car to the dealership several times before and they tell me that theirs nothing wrong with it or they don't know what it is. I've ownd the car since it was new and it's been doing this since then. Now that it almost made me black out while driving was the last srraw for me. It's made me have headaches before but not pass out like the other day. This is why I'm reporting this to you guys hoping you could help me. This only happens when I'm I. Stop and go traffic in the city when it's really hot out.
As I exited the freeway I shifted out of 6th gear (70mph) and pressed the brakes taking it down to 40mph. The rpms continued to rev up to 6k and beyond. The brakes did respond, so I felt there wasn't immediate danger. I immediately pulled over to the shoulder and stopped my car by turning off the key. Turning the car back on, not in any gear, not pressing the gas, the rpms began to rev just as high again. So I turned the key off again. I decided to try again, started the car, it began revving up the rpms. I shifted into first gear to see what would happen and it began to decrease in rpm. Then it became normal. But now there is a knocking noise in the engine when I accelerate that was not present before. It's less noticeable at 1st and 2nd gear, but gets more pronounced from 3rd gear onward. There were no warning lights, no check engine light. I took it to firestone where they told me it's possible that the engine may need replaced. I did find there was a report of engine processing flaws that could result in a knocking noise on various news sites but nothing official. This car has only 40k~ miles. It was manufactured in 2011 as I bought it hot off the lot at 6miles on the odometer. I get regular oil changes using synthetic oil only. It's mint. No reason for this to be occurring.
I was driving on a highway when my vehicle stalled nearly causing a major accident. There was no warning, engine light or issues with the car starting or driving. No issues with idling or anything to suggest I needed service. The dealer is saying it is excess carbon on the throttle body. It appears Hyundai has had issues with this that have not been addressed.
From a stop position and begin to turn right the car hesitates.
While driving vehicle, the lights some times flash and/or the vehicle stops running even at highway speeds.
I was backing out of my garage. My son had his car parked behind me. I saw that I was going to have to pull up to get around the parked car. I put my foot on the brake, I then put the car in drive. Took my foot off the gas and it took off at rocket speed. I wasn't completely out of my garage. The car was going so fast and I couldn't stop it. I was 6 ft from the brick wall. I was going so fast that I went through the brick wall and it didn't even slow down. It kept going took out a chain link fence. Then came to a stop and died. What stopped me was all the brick and fence that was under the car. If it had not stopped it would have killed me. This happened at my home. There was no police report.
Engine cranks normally attempting to start. When failed to start, the start button is pushed to stop the attempt. Tried again. Took 3 attempts to finally start. Once started the engine revs at high rpms. When put in d the car lurches and accelerates without pushing gas pedal. If the car is turned off after starting and restarted, fast acceleration is eliminated. Car has ultimately started, but the fear is it will get worse and ultimately fail to start stranding the driver. Car runs perfectly in normal driving on the highway. This has occurred almost daily for 90 days. Hyundai service: taken to Hyundai on two occasions. They say they could not duplicate problem and no computer error codes generated. Stumped! can do nothing if problem can't be duplicated by service tech! keeping quiet? new condition 4/26/18! car has shut down twice at a stop light, 4/26 and 4/29. Fear of shutting down while in traffic as reported in user forums. Hyundai user forums: dozens of owners disclose that the problem is widespread across years and models. Report that Hyundai denies there is an issue with problematic starting and stalling at low speeds and high speeds! owners report fear of serious accident if the car stalls on the highway, entering traffic or making turns across traffic.

Throttle stall when at a stop turning into on coming traffic it has a hesitation for two to three seconds before it throttles up. Hyundai dealer says this is normal due to the traction control thinking the tire will start spinning loseing traction. This problem is going to get me rear ended. This problem is all over the internet Hyundai corporate will not respond to email requests about the problem. Vehicle has 5500 miles an has been doing this since I drove it off the lot brand new.
Cylinders were misfiring. Dealer said it was due to computer software issue which caused insufficient fuel delivery to the cylinders. Dealer updated software which seems to have remedied the problem. When the problem occurred, the car lost some of its power and vibrated. I was on a side street with little traffic at the time, so the hazard was minimal. However, if the same situation happens to others on the freeway or in heavy traffic, or when full power is needed to avoid an accident, it could be hazardous.
The car shut off suddenly and came to abrupt stop while in motion on the street driving in a straight line.
After tire recall and computer update we first noticed a vibration or shudder for the first few miles. Dealer eventually changed 23 separate tires and problem persists. M. Stahl of Hyundai states this is a characteristic of low profile tires. Electrical problems began showing up on a rotating basis. Including, park assist not working regularly. Ventilation changing on its own. Blind spot indicators not working. Rear windows not working. Heated seats not heating. Dash display changes on it's own. Folding mirrors not folding as they should. Car went dead once. Zero acceleration twice when merging into traffic. Smart trunk not functioning. Vents blowing ice cold air without ac being on. Most of these have been photographed or videod. Dealer employees have also witnessed most of these. Occurrences have been in all driving conditions from stationary, back roads and highways. I have all repair orders documenting over 60 days of loss of use while car was at the dealer.
When driving our car, it just dies with no for warning what so ever. This has happened 7 or 8 times over the past two years, so it is not something that happens all the time but when it does it can be extremely dangerous. This has happened driving down interstate all the way to slowing down for stopped traffic. We started working with fort mill Hyundai over two years ago and have been told things like our oil change was past due to my wife doesn’t drive the car hard enough, both laughable responses to a very serious issue. We were getting nowhere with the dealer so I contacted Hyundai corporate and again got a laughable response from their internet team. When I pushed the issue and brought up someone was going to get hurt or killed and they would hear from an attorney they had their regional manager out of atlanta call me (I believe his name is robert staples), he talked me into taking the car to keith hawthorne Hyundai as the fort mill location did not follow their internal procedures. In working with the keith hawthorne team they felt they could help me out. After having my car for 10 days they called me and told me to pick up the car as Hyundai will not authorize them to do anything on the car. I completely realize the technology and complexity of todays automobiles and was trying to remain patient and work with them even though I felt it put my family at risk. Unfortunately Hyundai has made the decision to not work with me leaving me no option but to reach out to you. A side note, if you do a quick google search you will see we are not the only Genesis owner having these problems, so Hyundai has a bigger problem than just my car.
Vehicle stalled as I was driving about 25 mph. All systems failed. It could not be started again and had to be towed. There was no previous indication of any mechanical/electrical problem.
My car was serviced 3 times at dealer due to gasoline smell issue after driving 2 hours continuously at high temperature 100+. I have to inhaling the gas most time when I drive back to home. Hyundai is trying to ignore this hazard/safety/health issue. . . What will happen if I get hit by other vehicle while gas fume is releasing from my car? how about other people seating in my car while I drive this car?.
"I was subjected to a sudden acceleration last night while driving my 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4. 6. I left a full stop and sighted another car speeding toward a stop sign coming from my left. To avoid being broadsided I swerved to avoid and my accelerator jammed. I sped across the street and into a landscaped area. I hit a tree at that point which brought my vehicle to a stop. The driver side air bag deployed and I was wearing a seat belt. I sustained some impact injuries that appear to be of a minor nature. A lake was located just beyond the tree and I deliberately selected the medium size tree as a target. I was fortunate. I sustained a back injury some years ago and drive with two feet - one for the accelerator and one for the brake. There was therefore no chance that my foot slipped from one pedal to the other. Ref: Hyundai Genesis 4. 6 2009.
Car loss all forward power, speed dropped to 20 mph accelerator had no effect. After pulling to side of road engine would not go above 2000 rpm in neutral. Engine light came on, limped to dealer. Dealer diagnosed as trouble code c15, throttle body assy. Dealer replaced throttle body, drove car for 50 miles in 4 days. Now have the same problem, engine light on and no power. This is a very dangerous problem. Will have car towed back to dealer. Loosing power with no warning while driving on the interstates or pulling out into traffic is dangerous and safety problem!!!!!!!.
An alarming smell of gas fumes could be smelled emanating from the driver's rear wheel well. I took it to the jim click body shop that had recently repaired the car in that area and they found no leaks but verified the fumesa. The next day I took it to jim click Hyundai at the auto mall to be repaired . They could not reproduce the problem. The dealer has reported several occurrences of this type. This is a very hot temp time here as an aside.
While rolling slowly, then accelerating to cross 3 lanes of traffic, mainly in local town driving, the car seems to stall and then suddenly accelerated very quickly. This has happened at least 10 times in different situations I. E. : changing lanes quickly after rolling, while waiting for an opening in traffic. Have brought car back to dealer many times with the same complaint. Once they said they updated the transmission. It did not help. The last time they said don't use the eco mode, it creates a slight hesitation. I'm afraid this car will kill me someday when I pull out into traffic and have be power.
In stop & go traffic - transmission in d - with my foot on the brake, the car started to accelerate - drive wheels spun and screeched - put transmission in neutral - car seemed to return to normal.
