4 Wiper problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 06/17/2020

Navigation display failure resulting in no back-up camera, no a/v functions, and hvac control malfunction. Dealer replaced within approximately 8 months of purchase. System has failed again and corporate advised that the part was on backorder and we waited for a replacement part for 8 months. Now corporate has advised that the part, a-v monitor assembly part #965633m851, is unavailable/discontinued. No way to repair or replace the part. Vehicle has 44,000 miles on it. Sunroof failed within first 20,000 miles and was sealed to avoid expensive repair. Most recently the car died without warning while stationary. In for evaluation now. This car has been a chronic problem since we first purchased it and corporate has told us that we are at a dead end regarding the a/v monitor assembly - there is nothing they can do. A/v monitor assembly issue occurred in June of 2020.

7 Wiper problem of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 08/26/2019

Panoramic roof rear panel shattered. Vehicle was slowly transitioning from driveway to road surface over slight depression. Rear sunroof panel began to make popping noises that did not stop when I stopped moving. I got out of the vehicle and when I closed the door the rear panel shattered upwards, spraying glass bits onto me and the ground. Rear panel shattering was mostly contained by shatterproof film installed on the inside after receiving notice that these glass panels are prone to spontaneous implosions. Vehicle is presently at dealer being validated for extended warranty coverage.

8 Wiper problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 05/02/2019

While driving when I go to stop or slow down the brake pedal goes to the floor. It's real hard to stop the car, I brought it to the dealer and I was told that it's the hecu a 3,000 $ fix. I know that other Genesis owners have complained of the same problem. It's very dangerous for me and other vehicles around me. I know that Hyundai has recalled other vehicles for this problem due to faulty brake fluid that distroys the hecu. It sure seems to be what happened to mine.

13 Wiper problem of the 2011 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 06/14/2017

On Wednesday June 14th 2017, while in motion and operating the vehicle on a state route at 45 mph, the windshield wipers ceased all operations, just completely ceased to function. It was during a rainstorm at the time est 7:45am maineville, ohio / mason ohio area to verify the storm with weather channel, a severe thunderstorm was in effect. I had to stop the car in the middle of the road to prevent an accident from happening stopping all traffic behind me. The specific part is the wiper motor and the transmission broke according to columbia Hyundai. They refused to repair it under stated extended warranty. Service manager stated if I caused a wreck it would have caused a campaign recall. The recall as I understand it is 140. But yet they refused to repair it.

14 Wiper problem of the 2011 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 01/21/2017

I was driving down the highway at approximately 70 mph at just a little past dusk when out of nowhere I heard a very loud pop. At first I assumed that my windshield had been hit by a large rock or something that had been kicked up off the road and I immediately began looking for any sign of damage. I saw nothing and continued driving. A minute later I hear a whistling noise. Trying to figure out where it's coming from, I eventually partially slide open the roof panel and discover that there is a gaping hole in the sunroof. The more I drive, and the more bumps I hit, more and more glass keeps falling. Fortunately, my sliding roof panel was closed, so it prevented any of the glass from falling on me. It could be a big safety issue for glass to randomly shatter a driver who is on the highway. Fortunately for me, it had just stopped raining 30 minutes before this happened. I have filed an insurance claim, and they're going to fix it in a few days, but it's going to cost more than my $500 deductible. One estimate I received was for $600. I've known very many people who drive cars with sunroofs and have owned prior, and I have never seen or heard of this happening on others. Here's hoping it doesn't rain between now and when it's fixed.

15 Wiper problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 12/01/2016

My windshield wipers do not clear the windshield properly in inclement weather, my brakes sometimes make scrubbing sounds, my tires seem slippery sometimes when turning a curve, and my car jerks sometimes when pulling off after sitting still.

16 Wiper problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 07/19/2016

My wife and I have a 2012 Hyundai Genesis 3. 8 sedan. My wife is the primary driver. She came home one evening and told me that the car failed to stop and went into the intersection as she attempted to stop for a red traffic signal. I immediately drove the car down the street and observed that you had to pump the brakes to stop and the pedal went to the floor. I added some brake fluid and pumped the brakes. I drove the care the next few days and noticed that over time the same thing happened with the pedal going to the floor. I took the car to my mechanic and had all the brakes changed. That cost me over $320. 00. The mechanic advised me that the car had a faulty master cylinder. To shorten the story. Due to the dealer cost of from $275. 00 to $365. 00 for a master cylinder. I bought 2 online and 1 at oreilly auto parts. I spent $105. 00, $81, and $79. 00 for each respectively. Each time the mechanic advised me that the were not compatible. He was so conflicted by the process advised me to take the care to the dealer and told me that with only 91000 miles and a well maintained 4 year old car, it is unheard of for a master cylinder to be faulty. I contacted Hyundai and was told there was no recall nor was my vehicle covered by my factory warrantee. I am a retired auto theft officer so I decided to check with NHTSA for complaints and recalls. I am positive that this recall applies to my car. I have had the same process happen to me regarding the windshield wiper motor. Hyundai would not help so I found a motor at a junk yard. I paid to have it installed. However it only works at one speed. I would like it replaced and a refund for the cost incurred to find and replace it. I also would like the braking system repaired and compensation. Hyundai's recall number is 114. I would like to invoke the lemon law. .

17 Wiper problem of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 06/25/2016

During routine city street driving, the sunroof spontaneously made a loud explosion sound, shattered and fell into the car. Glass hit myself and my passengers while the car was in motion. When I went to the dealership to address the issue, I was told I would have to pay for the repairs or submit to my insurance. I have had this $40,000 car for 3 months, prior to this incident the trunk was leaking every time it rained and had to be repaired.

18 Wiper problem of the 2016 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 02/17/2016

Vehicle only had about 2000 miles when it first did this. Dash display malfunction. When backing up display is blacked out. You can't see any video from back up camera. Also display goes out while driving. Gave video evidence to dealer so they know I'm not crazy. Sometimes you turn car off and lock the car and the display is still playing. Dealer could get this issue to recreate while in there possession for four tries later is still does not work. This is even after a "final" repair was offered by the dealer which consisted of a total dash replacement the manager said cost Hyundai over $5000.

19 Wiper problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 02/17/2016

I was driving down the highway when suddenly the sunroof of my vehicle shattered. Glass flew down the back of the car scratching the back windshield and trunk. The weather was approximately 72 degrees fahrenheit outside with the ac set to 70. The sunshade was closed. Based on the fracturing of the glass, it seemed as if the cause of the sunroof breaking came from inside the car. The glass was bowed upward and outward from the vehicle. Upon review of dash cam footage, there was no indication of any outward or exterior source that would have caused the glass to break.

20 Wiper problem of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 02/08/2016

I was traveling east on i94 in minneapolis in snowy weather at about 9:30 pm on Feb 7. . Temp at 16 degrees. Needed to use the windshield washers. When I turned them on there was no washer fluid but the wipers went on. My windshield became completely obscured. I had to turn on my flashers, stop traffic in that lane in heavy traffic and had a dangerous and hard time getting to the shoulder. Turns out the fluid was frozen. I used snow to clear the windshield. It has now frozen 4 times in cold temps. I have had it freeze at temps as high as 18 degrees. I returns to working condition at about 28 or 29 degrees. Hyundai in aurora illinois puts the fluid in when I get an oil change and I never put fluid in. When it works there appears to be something besides pure water in the fluid as I observe a 'sudsing' effect. During my last oil visit on Feb 9 at a temp of 18 degrees, I had a Hyundai employee confirm that the fluid was frozen and the washers did not provide any fluid while the wipers activated.

21 Wiper problem of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 11/02/2015

Windshield wipers quit working, did some research online, come to find out that the wipers not working is a common problem on all 2009-2012 Genesis. Hyundai has not come out with a recall nor a service bulletin knowing this is a safety issue and the vehivle is inoperable in bad weather conditions.

22 Wiper problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 10/25/2015

What is likely a faulty turn signal stalk causes the vehicle's headlights to either flicker, shut off or flash the high beams regardless if it is stationary or in motion. It manifests itself in various ways; the most recent being on a 5 hour interstate trip. When signaling to change lanes, the high beams would flash which would in turn disturb drivers in front of me. Other times, the lights have flickered and/or turned off entirely for a brief period of time hindering night time visibility. . Read more...

23 Wiper problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 10/23/2015

This problem began occurring at around 60,000 miles. When either stationary or in motion, the windshield wipers would either not come on at all or would jerkily (is that a word?) make their way about halfway up the windshield and then freeze. Then at some random time, they would either jerk their way back to the parked position or continue jerking their way through the whole sweep and then back to the parked position, usually stopping once or more times on the way. This is a common occurrence according to posts found on the Genesisowners. Com site. . Read more...

24 Wiper problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 09/02/2014

The wipers would start to wipe then stop in the middle of the windshield, after turning it on and off over and over again (sometimes up to 30 seconds of non-movement), they finally start to move again. This repeated itself for the entirety of my drive to work (aprx 25 minutes) in the rain. I nearly ran into the back of someone because I could not see anything out of my windshield.

25 Wiper problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 08/29/2013

When I and my wife came out in the garage to go out for dinner, we found the winshield has crack on it bigger than 1 dollar bill. We have kept this vehicle very safe place at home and working place. We had several different vehicles last 40 years, this is the first experience. If this happens on the highway, it could burst out the glass and damage human critically. Please keep the report and see if other people complaints. Thanks.

26 Wiper problem of the 2011 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 04/22/2013

When engaging the turn signal, the headlights will flash off and back on quickly. This only happens when the headlights are set to "on" (as opposed to "auto"). It does not happen every time the turn signal is engaged, but it happens 15-20% of the time. It is distracting to the driver of the vehicle as well as other drivers around the vehicle. . 27 Wiper problem of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 11/27/2012

This vehicle has a feature where the door mirrors angle down when the car goes into reverse, and then comes back to normal viewing position when you change to any other gear (e. G. Park, drive). Intermittently, one mirror (driver or passenger) does not come back up. The driver will not likely notice the mirror not returning to it normal viewing position until he uses the mirror again, like when he changes lanes. I have had this happened almost a dozen times to me. I have almost side swiped other drivers on three occasions. I have been to the dealership nine times so far, but they have not fixed it. It is hard to diagnose because it doesn't happen often. Many other Hyundai Genesis owners have seen this issue. . Read more...

28 Wiper problem of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 10/14/2011

Windshield wipers replaced due to "chatter" problem not solved using manufacture parts. During rain windshield wipers stop working, in a few min. The system resets, wipers chatter and stop working. I believe there is a problem with the wiper motor and not the blades, dealer could not fix the problem, I have found that others with this same year, make, and model have the same problem and have not found a solution. I believe that the wiper motor(s) should be replaced under warranty.
