I feel that this is a huge safety issue as I have 3 grandchildren that I watch everyday and have to have 2 of them in the 3rd row and 1 in the middle section, I love this vehicle but know I am afraid to drive it when I have them. This should be fixed immediately. Every day that there is not a fix is a day that I am putting my grand children's life in danger.
The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the front camera was reportedly installed incorrectly, causing the automatic emergency braking system to engage unexpectedly, almost causing several crashes. Additionally, the windshield wiper motor became inoperable, and there was a fluid leak coming from the wiper system that migrated into the transmission, causing a mechanical failure with the gearbox. The rear seat belts also failed to buckle securely and were frequently unlatched while children were inside the vehicle. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign numbers: 26v034000 (air bags), 25v607000 (seat belts), and 22v627000 (visibility); however, the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 22v627000 (visibility). The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 90,000.
I opened a case with Hyundai corporate due to the safety recalls, one being the second row seat belts and now the ejection recall for the third row passenger. I was told to use caution only to my request of a loaner or rental reimbursement. Hyundai is not honoring rental reimbursements as they submitted.
Have attempted recall repairs 2 times. Was told I needed to reschedule since parts not available. I brought my vehicle in for repair 3/30/2026 @ 8:20. After noticing my car in back parking lot that did not move from at least 8:50am to 10:10am, I asked service representative what was happening. I was told I need to bring back at a later date when seatbelt parts are in. This process would take 4 hours. I made them aware that my front passenger seatbelt comes undone often.

On December, 2025 I received notification from Hyundai DE puerto rico (sojitz DE puerto rico corporation) informing about the Hyundai recall number 283 (NHTSA recall number 25v-607) regarding the seat belt buckle assemblies problem (see attached notification document). On January 27, 2026 I took my Hyundai Palisade 2020 to the programed appointment at Hyundai DE cupey, Ave. Ponce DE león, #1385, san juan, pr 00926 for the inspection and replacements of my seat belts buckle assemblies. For my surprise, the service advisor ms. Adleni vazquez informed me that there was no such recall and that they were proceeding with an extended warranty on the vehicle seat belt assembly system. She also told me that they would only act during that warranty extension period if I could prove a malfunction of the seat belt buckle assemblies. I showed the safety recall notification letter and the action required to the service advisor, but still they denied the inspection of seat belt buckle assemblies. The advisor showed me the Hyundai DE puerto rico instruction regarding the matter which is only to provide an extended warranty. (see attached document). My vehicle was just serviced for an ecu upgrade of the emission system which I was told was the only recall pending (see attached service job document). Do I or my passengers need to be involved in an accident and suffer injuries or even death because my vehicle was one with the faulty buckle assemblies before I can make a claim and be provided with the needed service and remedy? I think this “extended warranty” argument used in puerto rico for recall 283 is a dangerous excuse for not providing the service required. Please, investigate this important safety issue and Hyundai DE puerto rico’s noncompliance. Once again, this is a serious issue that requires a prompt remedy. Due to is physical nature, it cannot be remedied merely with an “extended warranty”. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
The system does not alert me if someone is sitting in 3rd row without seatbelt. No one has been injured, but I noticed it in January 2026. Not sure how long it has been happening.
I have a seatbelt recall and the parts are still in back order. I don’t feel safe driving my car since my seat belt did come in clapped while driving.
We scheduled in advance and confirmed recalls to have seatbelts recall serviced. Lost the entire day waiting for the service department to tell me they did not have the parts. The recall was mishandled and communication was kept to a minimum regarding the service noone knew about not having parts until the end of the day, which was 7 hours after our scheduled visit. A full day of work was lost and we are risking our child in a car seat on one of the affected seats. . The air bag recall also affects our means of transportation as we are risking travel each day. The dealership has not been helpful.
Engine started burning oil at around 70,000 miles. It now runs almost completely out of oil at around 5,000 miles since last oil change, not even close to reaching the manufacturer recommended interval of 7500 miles between oil changes. On top of the engine consuming oil at an alarming rate, there are no warning indicator lights that turn on to let you know your oil level is critically low. At around 74,000 miles?, Hyundai did a combustion cleaning. I've had two oil changes and it was back to vibrating, knocking, shifting hard, etc, right before a 3rd one at 5,300 miles since the last one and it stalled. The vehicle has now stalled twice, all engine lights flashed, then car stalled. Thankfully, this was not on an interstate or major road. This is a major problem!.

I rent my vehicle on the turo app market and depend on it as income. When this recall occurred the vehicle was suspended from the platform as it was being rented out to a client and was not informed during the recall as she was driving it, therefore putting her at risk, as well as myself as a host. Its been a month and now I am unable to do business or drive the car knowing the potential consequences stated by the recall indefinitely.
Seatbelts coming unlatched randomly and all the time. Happens every time we drive and go somewhere.
Front and rear seatbelts routeanly detach while driving making the vehicle unsafe for drivers passengers and children riding in this vehicle.
Seatbelts unclip after being buckled.
Seat belts does not retract and when pulled it remains in that position. Even when I feed the belt back into its place its very loose and unsafe. [driver seatbelt], fuel injectors are causing the car not to accelerate and safety concerns while on freeway with children the car began to shutter/wanting to. Shut off. I used both break and gas at the same time to keep the car running. I was told by Hyundai that the powertrain warranty purchases does not cover that part.
Received attached letter, extending warranty for twisted seatbelts. When I contacted the dealer, they said they had to be a case where my seatbelt came unbuckled for them to replace the seatbelts in my second row of my Hyundai Palisade. Here is my concern. There have been numerous complaints about seatbelts coming unbuckled while people were driving. I place my most precious cargo. My two great granddaughters in that second row buckled in with the seatbelts, anticipating that I have done everything possible to safeguard them. Now Hyundai is telling me that unless something tragic happens they are not replacing them although they do point out that they are twisted due to excessive space in the d ring. If this is the case, why are they not replacing them now? are they waiting for something tragic to happen. ?? I want my second row seat belt to be replaced so I know my great granddaughters are safe when I place them in my vehicle. This is ridiculous that they issue the warning but no recall. Can you please help??.
The seatbelt is unbuckling at random times, even when it is not tugged on and while driving. Drove 10-15 times and the buckle unlatched at least 6 times. Another driver of the same vehicle is also having problems. Dealer/mechanic cannot replicate the problem. No warning symptoms prior to it unbuckling.
Driver seatbelt will unbuckle or detach from buckle while driving. Multiple times it has happened where driving in dangerous conditions and the seatbelt will unbuckle while driving. Sometimes it will unbuckle itself quietly and I won’t notice it but the car will alert me to say it has been unlatched from the buckle.
Seatbelts in captain’s chairs come unlatched randomly.
The 2nd row seatbelt on the passenger side comes unlatched during vehicle movement. Often times it will not latch and secure the seatbelt when a passenger is in the seat. On numerous occasions it has come unbuckled or would not work at all as required. Hyundai service centers have been unable to recreate the problem during inspection, stating there is nothing wrong with the seatbelt and we need to make sure we latch it fully. The deficiency never seems to happen during inspection but happens when my children and adult passengers are in the seat.
Discovered from passenger complaint that the two seat belt tensioners involved with the middle seat captain seats are defective. They will lock on their own without any deceleration or passenger intervention and not release unless the seat belt is unlocked & fully retracted. I have personally tested this and found both middle seat retractors to exhibit this failure even with the car standing still and powered off. A web searched revealed that Hyundai seat belts are under investigation by the nhta at this time.
The second row driver side seat belt both comes unlatched and will not catch on the latch. This is intermittent but happens about 70% of the time. I feel it is dangerous and needs a repair immediately. It has been going on since may of this year. My 13-year-old most often occupies that seat.
Engine is sucking the life out of this vehicle meaning it is consuming more than normal oil. Oil consumption, I had the testing done. And Hyundai has done nothing about fixing the issues well I am the second owner of this vehicle and it should be laws in place for the second owners of a vehicle. The first owner was keeping up on the maintenance of the vehicle so have I. I also have white smoke coming from the tailpipe. As well as stalling and stopping. I am still making payments on this vehicle and it is not far that I have to constantly get oil changes every month or sometimes twice a month seems like it. That is a lot of spending for something that should not be. It is so many people out there going through the same issues. It is a few facebook group pages made behind this. It's truly sad that Hyundai will not fix this problem. What are we to do? please help.
The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The contact also noticed smoke coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the rear passenger’s seat belts failed to function properly and would inadvertently release while driving the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine, and the seat belt assemblies for all the rear passenger’s seats needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
The seatbelts in the second passenger captains chairs will appear to be latched/locked in, and then when driving will unlatch. We have our daughters tug on them to assure proper locking and they will appear locked and still come unlatched frequently while we are driving. This problem has been going on and off since we owned the vehicle. It definitely puts the safety of our children at risk as they seatbelts clearly have a defect and I'm scared to think what would happen if this occurred during a car wreck. It often cannot be reproduced, which is why we haven't taken it to a dealer. There's no rhyme or reason as to when/why it occurs. It probably happens 3-4 times per month. In reading on-line forums with other owners of this vehicle, dealers are not willing to fix it due to its inconsistency. The seatbelts warning light does not always come on when this happens.
My driver seat belt has randomly popped off while driving it has happened 4 times since I bought this used 2020 Palisade at the end of February it’s very scary and I don’t feel safe in this car. I don’t think it has happened with my kids seatbelts but I don’t trust them , I do not have the exact dates.
Seatbelts will unbuckle on their own and have done that since we purchased vehicle.
Passenger from seatbelt has always been hard to get to engage and clip and would sometimes come undone while driving. Now the drivers side front is coming undone while driving even after assuring it’s secure before driving. Rear ones are now having same issue. I took it to the dealer and they said they needed replacement but not under warranty even though it has always been an issue. I didn’t report it before the warranty expired but it has gotten much much worse and is totally unsafe to drive if it comes undone while driving. How is it supposed to work in an accident?.
The seatbelt is flush with the seat and does not allow for a safe and easy fashion to buckle our son in while in his booster seat. We can get it done, but it is extremely difficult and he cannot do it on his own. Upon doing some research, many people are now using seatbelt extenders to help with that issue, which is not allowed/rated for this use. I was considering it until I saw the potential danger involved.
The third row seat belt buckles get crushed and deformed when the 3rd row seats are folded down. The folding process is automatic with a button. No option for manual folding, so it’s not human error from folding too hard or manually crushing the buckles. I’m not sure when the buckles got crushed or how many times of folding the seats led to the crushing. We rarely use the 3rd row but we are unable to latch the rear buckles because the plastic casing is cracked and crushed. I’ve researched the issue online and many other owners have complained about this problem in forums and with dealers.
Multiple seatbelts in the vehicle seem to be latched properly, then while driving, they become unlatched. This occurs often, but is made worse in colder weather.
Both of our side seat of the middle row seatbelts will not buckle randomly or will just release. We’ve brought it in several times and they say they can’t find anything but it does this with my kids just sitting and riding. This has now been happening for years.
I have a 2020 Hyundai Palisade and it only has 9000 miles on it. The driver side seat belt and the second row middle seat belt will not buckle anymore. The driver seat belt start just a few month after I bought the car. The second row middle seat belt issue looks like came with the new car , we did not know because we did not use that seat until now. The dealer is making this my issue and they are telling me , this is due things stuck in the seat belt and asking me to pay to fix the issue.
Having a lot of issue with the rear seatbelt buckle being recessed to far into the seat to ensure it was properly buckled. There has been a few incidents where my child was unaware she did not fully buckle until the seatbelt came undone. It’s gotten to the point where we decided to put her back into the car seat rather than a booster due to how difficult it is to buckle the seatbelt correctly.
The middle row bucket seatbelts are installed too low into the recess of the seat making bucking extremely hard, and at times, preventing the seatbelt from clicking into place at all.
The seatbelt buckles for the captains chairs are recessed into the body of the seat. This makes it extremely difficult for both adults and children to buckle up. The buckles are almost impossible to use with booster chairs whiteout some after market modification (not safe). Consumer stated buckles are recessed into the seat bottom and latch is angled inwards towards the seat making it even trickier to get to. The angles isn't helping with latching. Silicone and foam building block is used to hold buckle in place.
It is extremely difficult to buckle the seatbelt around our childrens' booster seats. We have a six and nine-year-old who are fully capable of buckling their own seats. However, they are unable to buckle in this vehicle due to the limited slack on the buckle and the narrow captains' chairs in the second row. I am barely able to buckle them and often concerned that the clip did not secure properly due to the challenging nature of the process. This is a safety concern because if we were to wreck and it was not secured, my children's lives would be at risk.
