1 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2025

In January 2025, during snowy weather, the windshield wipers on my 2021 Hyundai Palisade failed mid-operation and began making a buzzing noise. After 3–4 uses, they locked up and stopped functioning, causing a serious visibility issue. This occurred while driving, putting my safety at risk. This symptom directly matches NHTSA recall 23v-180 / Hyundai campaign 243, which I was told had already been addressed by the dealership I purchased from (fitzgerald Hyundai in gaithersburg, MD). I bought the vehicle used in April 2023, around the time this recall was active. I brought the vehicle back to that dealership in may 2025. They confirmed the wiper motors appeared to be binding and recommended replacement. However, they claimed the issue was not related to the recall and charged me a diagnostic fee of $209. Their service summary matches the defect described in the recall. I believe the recall fix was either never performed properly or did not actually resolve the underlying issue. This appears to be a recurring safety defect that puts drivers at continued risk.

Front passenger and both captain chairs seatbelts will unlatch on their own. Windshield wipers when on automatic setting will turn on with no precipitation on windshield. Generally when the steering is turned slightly left. Both issues have happened multiple times over the past 4 years of ownership.

3 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2024

We have had the car towed twice to and from the dealer to fix the problem and they are telling us the parts are on back order and they cant fix the car but they put in in the system that it has been fixed. This is colorado spring time the weather can do anything here this time of year the car is not safe to drive but the dealer told my wife they will not give her a loaner car so she is being forest to drive a unsafe car.

4 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2024

Windshield cracks under normal highway driving condition. Smaller rocks coming onto windshield are expected under highway driving conditions. Of all the 9 vehicles that I have owned previously none had this issue but with Hyundai Palisade the glass cracked very easily. I have small cracks on my windshield at multiple places and it appears that Hyundai has installed a thin windshield or a windshield not suited for highways in USA. Could NHTSA please investigate this?.

5 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2023

On 7/23 my family experience a very horrific event. While traveling on a road at approximately 35 mph our rear passenger window exploded. The explosion was unexpected and dangerously unsafe. There was debri of broken glass all over our bodies , hair, clothing and inside our vehicle. Luckily our family was not injured. Since then our family has really questioned the safety of your vehicles after learning that this type of event is happening to other Hyundai Palisade owners. I created a case and have not heard back from anyone nor any dealership cannot provide assistance in my area. My kids and family are afraid to get into a vehicle we thought was safe but apparently is not. I need someone to call me and I need to stop being transferred over and over to different customer service reps and need Hyundai to take responsibility for our loss family time, appointments and mental insecurities caused by this explosion.

Failure Date: 01/02/2023

The contact owns 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v180000 (visibility, wiper) and 22v633000 (trailer hitches). The contact stated that the fuse was removed from the tow hitch, rendering the tow hitch inoperable. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to provide assistance. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Failure Date: 12/09/2022

Windshield on 2021 Palisade cracks easily I had two cracks developed within 3 days of each other. Cracks easily developed into a 2 feet crack.

8 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2022

The is no incident yet I am writing to file a complaint as to the extend time that we owners of said vehicle got recall notices and follow up notices, but yet no fix appears to be had in the immediate future. So I have to remove and replace a trailer harness fuse everytime I need to use my hitch to avoid a fire and potentially losing my house since my garage is attached. When paying $50k on a car you should not have to part outside away from you house for this long extended period because the manufacturer can't figure out what the fix is. Also the wiper motor recall-would think this would be an easier fix-yet nothing resolved on that either after several months of notices and waiting. Someone needs to press Hyundai to get on it!!!!!.

9 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2022

Cracked windshiled, unknown.

10 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2022

While driving down the highway a truck in front of me slings a rock into my windshield. Watched this small crack run all the way across my windshield shortly after. These windshields are too fragile. I have never experienced this with any other vehicle I have owned.

11 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2022

On June 13 I was driving on the interstate when a pebble was kicked up and hit my windshield. I exited as soon as I was able to and checked for any damage on my windshield. At that time I did not see any chips or damage. On June 14, I was in the process of cleaning out my car when I looked up at my windshield and saw about a 24 inch crack going across my windshield from the top corner all the way down to the middle. This is the second chip that I have had to have repaired or replaced and I’ve never had this much issues with a windshield. Safelite said that it is unrepairable and in order to get it replaced will cost around $2000. I am a teacher and a single mother and an m able to replace it at this time. I noticed that when I did my research that many others have complained about the same windshield issues. There is a class action lawsuit has also been filed by several plaintiffs who have experienced the same windshield issues as me. I have driven the interstate for the last 14 years every day and this is the first time I’ve ever had this big of a crack in my windshield I didn’t even have time to call and have it repaired. Out of curiosity how many complaints do you need to collect about this issue in order for Hyundai to be held responsible and correct this windshield issue?.

12 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2022

Windshield has cracked twice in less than one month. Second time the car was not moving ( in parking lot) it appears there are many reports of this happening needs to be a recall. Imagine how easily it would shatter in an accident.

13 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2022

The windshield wipers stop/lock with even a small amount of snow on the windshield anywhere in the wiper well (at the bottom, near the hood). Even if it's cleared out very well to start, snow pushed down there by the wipers causes the wipers to stop working entirely, while driving. This is unlike any vehicle I've ever driven in my life; it's incredibly annoying and unsafe.

14 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2022

Serious safety problem with a very important very needed system called the windshield wipers!!! they absolutely suck!!!! I driving down the interstate and got stuck under snow, and all of a sudden my wipers just quit working!!! I almost hit the cars in front of me!! I coiner see anything. I was later told the reason by a dealer employee… because as the wipers are traveling in the down stroke, they quite naturally push snow down into the well in which the wipers sit when they are not in use, down where the wiper arms connect to the vehicle, and it doesn't take long to fill that area and pack it with hard wet snow, when this happens, evidently the system senses that there is an obstacle blocking the wiper arms motion, and shuts the system down, apparently so that nothing breaks! so now then I was forced to pull off onto the shoulder of the interstate in the middle of this snowstorm to try to clear the snow from the wiper well! this is a dangerous interstate and was almost hit by passing trucks!! while clearing the well I found here is another problem that comes into play. . . . The wipers are now stuck partially up, but not enough so that you can fold the arms up to be able to get a scraper or your hand to the area where the snow is now packed into ice, which is kinda a deep pocket! now I have learned from unwanted experience that you can manually pull the wiper arms up a few inches, which aids in letting you get your fingers in there to try to clear the snow jam, but you have to move quick, because the system is constantly trying to "reset" itself and comes slamming back down on your fingers about every 30 seconds!!!! it literally took me 20 minutes while dodging semi trucks on i95 to get them working again! now I'm 5'5" short which does not help at all especially for the passenger side wiper where the snow jam is in the exact middle of the vehicle!!! I felt I was going to be killed that day. This is an absolutely rediculous and dangerous situation to be put in, and h.

15 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2022

The car cannot be driven in the snow. The windshield wipers are "recessed" below the hood. While driving in snow when snow gets pushed down the wipers sense the snow and shutdown/lockout. The driver (my spouse) spent 20 minutes trying to remove all snow and was forced to driver without wind shield wipers in a snow storm. It has happened both times the car was driven in the snow.

16 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2022

When there is snow or ice build up under the front wipers that prevents them from going to thier “starting position or offer any resistance the wipers will no longer continue to function. So during snow storms when this occurs the wipers do not work requiring the driver or other occupants to get out sometime even opening the hood due to the large wiper well on the car to clean all residual snow or ice including that under the hinge. This can be extremely dangerous if you need to do this on the side of a road or highway in poor weather like blizzard or heavy snow fall. Please note the wipers still have full and proper range to go up and may have just have gone up. But once they can’t go down they shut down operations I think in order to prevent motor damage of the wiper regardless of the settings on the wiper controls. Hyundai needs to program the I cars to continue to allow wiper operations or trying regardless of the tension and if they can no longer do down stop and wipe up from that point. Lastly if the wipers are shutting down on the instrument control panel the driver should be notified of the wipers discontinuing of operations for thier awareness and not have to guess as to the issue. In all of my years owning and driving vehicles I’ve never experienced this with Ford, chevy, Dodge, GMC, etc…. This seems to be an issue and there is a large forums of users complaining of this issue here https://palisadeforums. Org/threads/wipers-stopped-working-snow-build-up. 444/.

17 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2021

Every time that it has snowed this winter the wipers have stopped working. This has happened while stopped and while driving. If there is any amount of snow/ice/build up on the lower windshield, in the 'well' under the wiper blades and the hood of the car, the wipers will stop working. Not only is the frustrating but more importantly is a massive safety hazard the needs to be addressed ASAP. This happened this morning taking my kids to school, and there was very minimal snow below the wiper blades. Definitely not enough to cause harm to the wipers/motor during their use as the total amount was not even an 1/8". The time before that I was driving at normal speeds and had a truck pass me. During the trucks passing large amounts of slush/water were flung up onto the windshield and windshield well, stopping the wipers directly in their path. Being there was a vehicle in front of me, that I could a. ) no longer see and b. ) had no working wipers anymore, I made the decision to safely ditch the vehicle. I then had to get out, clear the slush from the well, at which point the wipers began to work again although there was nothing left to clear as all the slush/water had already ran off the windshield. This design flaw is putting lives at risk. Had I not been familiar with my area, the road I was on, and it was safe to defensively move over into the shoulder/ditch a major accident could have been caused. I can appreciate the intent, but this needs to be recalled immediately before a major accident is caused and people are hurt or worse.

18 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2021

Only approx 8000 miles on the Palisade. Tiny rock hit windshield and left a 3mm pit in the glass in the middle. Within minutes the glass cracked and is now almost a foot long. After 1 search on the internet looking for replacement glass I found multiple forums of people discussing how common the cracking/spiderweb issue is, sometimes with no impact. Now my visibility is being impaired as the crack continues to spread across the windshield.

19 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2021

My car is 3 months old and has 2500 miles on it. The windshield has a huge crack across it. It happened while I was driving. I'm not sure if a small pebble hit it or if the temperature caused it. The windshield seems very weak.

20 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2021

Driving on 2 lane route at speed limit and rock hit my windshield and left a large crack and now needs repaired. Windshield cracks so easily this is also a safety hazard.

21 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2021

Windshield cracked without any impact. If there was an impact, it was very small as there is no sign of damage. (I didn't hear anything hit the windshield while driving) this seems to be a concern with many owners as seen in different forums. I have driven many different vehicles over the years with many rocks hitting my windshield in other cars with no damage. This needs to be looked into and make Hyundai responsible for fixing this issue.

22 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2021

Windshield gets rock chips very easily. It's an ongoing problem.

23 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2021

Went on a trip to nashville small pebble hit windshield made a chip and rapidly started spreading. Had windshield replaced by safelite on Monday afternoon on Thursday got up to go somewhere and looked at the windshield and it had a crack that went from the lower left hand of driver side and went all the way to the middle of the windshield.

24 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2021

Small rock hit left side of windshield by car frame on a Sunday. Left a small, superficial knick (didn't look to be through windshield). Drove car Monday & Tuesday with no noticeable windshield damage. Went to drive car Wednesday and there was a six inch crack across windshield originating from Sunday's knick. Over the course of an hour, crack grew to longer than two feet.

25 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2021

On a clean road with no vehicles in either direction, I heard something like a bug hit the windshield and saw a crack appear. Two days later, on another clean road, I heard something like a pebble hit the windshield and a much larger crack appeared, that looked like a spider web. There were no large vehicles on the road (e. G. Gravel truck, dump truck, semi-truck) that would be likely suspects to throw a piece of gravel that would crack a windshield. Since this is a new vehicle with low miles, and two incidents on the same trip, I contacted Hyundai north America to see if there were any known issues with the Palisade windshields. The representative stated that it could be replaced under warranty as a manufacturing defect but that I had to take it to a dealership in order for them to verify prior to replacement or repair. At the dealership, the service representative stated that he would have someone look at it and call me back later in the day. He asked if I contacted anyone else yet and I told him that I contacted Hyundai north America. He stated that he would have to get his manager involved, which seemed odd. I performed an internet search and found multiple instances of other Hyundai Palisade owners who experienced similar issues with their vehicles. This is only the second year of production of these vehicles which could indicate a design defect. There is also a pending class action lawsuit regarding cracked windshields on Hyundai Palisades which also raises a red flag that these windshields should be recalled.

26 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2021

My 2021 Palisade windshield has cracked after nothing struck the windshield like so many others who own the 2020 and 2021 Palisade and kia telluride (Hyundai's company). This is a know quality issue with weak and easily cracked windshields which many owners have filed complaints to this NHTSA site and in online forums. The windshield is among the most important safety functions on a car. The auto glass must all be restored and it’s essential to retain the window and in good condition at all times. Driving with a chipped or cracked windshield may put me and my passengers at risk for injury in the event of a rollover or collision. Hyundai needs to issue a recall for the safety of their customers. I respectfully ask that you investigate the windshields on the 2020 and 2021 huyundi pallisaide's.

27 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2021

Small pebble impact on passenger side of windshield caused a very small chip. Chip developed into several long cracks as repair was being attempted. As cracks continue to propagate, a full windshield replacement will be necessary. A common problem surrounding this make and model.

28 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2021

Vehicle with 2200 miles. No prior damage. Traveling at 50mph, sudden failure of sunroof without warning. Sunroof and visor was closed. Driver was uninjured. Dealer inspected vehicle.

29 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2021

Small chip in windshield grew into several large cracks in a very short amount of time. Based on research, many Palisade owners have been experiencing the same issue.

30 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2021

I keep having to get my windshield fixed because it cracks eas8.

31 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2021

I purchased a new Hyundai Palisade (limited version) on April 1, 2021. On or about may 12, 2021, while driving down the road, a small pebble struck the bottom of my windshield directly in front of the driver position, leaving a very small chip in my windshield about the size of a bb. The small chip was so small and insignificant looking no further action was taken at the time. On the morning of may 30, 2021, I got in my Palisade, that was parked in my enclosed garage, and noticed a cracked windshield of approximately 24 inches, that appeared to originate at the location of the "bb size" chip. A cold front had came in on the night of may 29, 2021/early morning of may 30th, reducing the outside temperature much below normal. On June 1, 2021, I took my Palisade to the hallmark Hyundai, 1198 west main street, hendersonville, tennessee, to obtain an estimate for repair and determine if this damage was covered under warranty (remember this is a new Palisade, only six weeks old and less than 2,000 miles at the time of the "pebble strike"). I explained to the service manager that I believed the cracked windshield was a possible factory defect and if asked if anyone else had recently had a cracked Palisade windshield. He said they had one other Palisade with a cracked windshield a couple of weeks earlier. The service manager told me the cracked windshield was not covered under my new car warranty and that "at this time" there were no warranty enhancements/recalls on the windshield for my Palisade. The service manager then provided me a service estimate to have my cracked windshield replaced: part# 86111-s8110 - glass windshield: $1,561. 89 part# 86130=s8000 - garnish assy. - $188. 00 part# 86140-s8000 - garnish assy. - $187. 31 glass moldings and labor and recalibration - $375. 00 fee windshield removal/replacement - $275. 00 tax-$239. 33 grand total - $2,846. 76 in conclusion, I believe there is a lot of smoke that indicates Hyundai has a big fire with its defective windshield.

32 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2021

2 months old , already have chips on the windshield. . There has not been any hit as far as we know of. . But glass is chipped in two diff places.

33 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2021

Before I even hit 1000 miles my windshield chipped. I was driving behind a car not tailgating and heard a rock come up and hit my windshield. There was a big chip in my windshield. Today 3 days later driving heard a rock come up and now another chip. I've never seen a windshield chip like this before. As I was investigating the chip and cleaning my windshield I discovered more chips in lower right hand corner that I never heard anything hit. These windshields are very cheaply made. This car is not cheap and for the windshield to chip this easy is wrong!.

34 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2021

Twice this has happened. My windshield wipers lock up and will not clear the window. It seems like there may be snow or ice below them where they tuck in when this happens, which is hard to clear out anyway. While I am driving, if any snow or ice comes down from the roof, they will lock up as well, and this has left me absolutely not able to see the road. It is a major major hazard. Luckily I have been able to pull off the road both times to clear the window manually.

35 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2021

I just purchased the vehicle and on the same day I was driving on the highway on my way home, I discovered a rock chip on the windshield, I did not hear anything impact the windshield but judging but not hearing any sound. The windshield seems to be very fragile compared to other vehicles I've owned.
