I am reporting a serious and ongoing safety issue involving my 2023 Hyundai Palisade that is currently unresolved and directly impacts the safety of my children and passengers. My vehicle is subject to an open safety recall (recall 292 – ejection mitigation) for which there is currently no available remedy. In addition to this unresolved recall, I am experiencing an active failure of the seatbelt system. The seatbelts do not consistently latch and/or will not remain securely latched, creating an immediate risk to occupants. Replacement seatbelt components were ordered in January, and I have been informed they are on backorder with no estimated timeline for repair. As of today, the issue remains unresolved. This situation presents a severe safety concern. The vehicle has compromised occupant protection systems, including both restraint failure (seatbelts) and an open recall involving ejection mitigation. I regularly transport children in this vehicle and cannot rely on the safety systems to function properly. I have contacted Hyundai motor America and opened a case to resolve this issue. However, Hyundai has not provided a repair, has not provided a safe alternative vehicle, and has not offered a viable solution. I was offered rental reimbursement, but I am unable to pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle upfront, and the reimbursement limit does not cover a comparable vehicle suitable for transporting my family. As a result, I am being left with no reasonable or safe option: either continue operating a vehicle with known safety defects or assume financial burden that I cannot afford in order to obtain temporary transportation. I am requesting that this issue be investigated, including: * the delay in remedy for recall 292 * the failure and parts shortage related to seatbelt systems * the lack of manufacturer support for consumers facing active safety risks this vehicle is not safe for normal use under current conditions.
We were driving on a residential street, and our sunroof just exploded!.
When moving forward at very slow speed, the steering wheel bounces as if it had been hit by something and we hear a loud "thunk". The whole front end of the car vibrates. This has also happened once while completely stopped at a traffic signal. This has been happening for several months, and we know that others have reported the same problem, but the dealer is unresponsive. We are worried that the steering could fail at speed, and are losing confidence in the car.
Our vehicle has yet another active recall, without a remedy. The vehicle is “unsafe in event of a crash in the third row”. I specifically bought this vehicle because I have children and need the third row. We spent 40 days with a rental vehicle in December because of a recall with a seat belt that had no remedy and are again having to request a rental. Hyundai is denying our claim for a buyback because of this new issue, which is unacceptable. This vehicle is unsafe. Hyundai cannot fix it. There needs to be a buyback.
I was driving on the highway at about 65-70 mph and the sunroof spontaneously shattered. It sounded like an explosion. No object hit the car. We were in nevada and the outside temp was in the mid 60s. The inside air conditioning was set at 69. We pulled over to inspect and take a picture. I have read about numerous complaints of this happening going back to the 2021 models and as recently as the 2024 models. We had the shade closed, but if it were open glass could have sprayed all over the car and into my passengers eyes, faces, etc. It is scary and dangerous.
Safety recalls and I don’t feel safe with my children in car.
At low speed, and today for the first time completed stopped at a stop sign, we here and feel a very loud "thunk" through the steering wheel and coming from under the front end of the vehicle. It's very loud and jerks the steering wheel when it happens, and can be felt through the car seats as well. The whole vehicle seems to shake. This has happened so far approximately ten times, and we are losing confidence in the car's safety. The dealer told us that he had not heard of this problem, but we know that to be untrue, because a simple google search reveals that it is a known issue.
I was stopped at a stop sign with my foot firmly on the brake and vehicles engine starting revving. Next was stopped at my mailbox with the foot firmly on the brake and engine started revving again. Next, I was pulling into my garage and had just taken my foot off of the brake and engine revved again, this time propelling me into my garage wall. I have a video of the car pulling into the garage and you can hear the car accelerate.
I was driving down a 4 lane highway at 70mph with no landscaping, cars or trucks around me what so ever and my sunroof imploded on me. Luckily my sunshade was closed. The glass was domed outwards like pressure from inside the cabin pushed it out and shattered into tiny pieces. Hyundai is aware of this issue but is not willing to cover it under warranty. My vehicle isn't even 3 years old and has less than 30,000 miles on it. I bought this vehicle due to all the great reviews about the warranty, well now that I need something fixed under warranty, they are not willing to help me out.
The sunroof exploded while driving.
I've had two incidents with my car. I've been to the service center several times, but no one can help me. How much longer can this go on? it's been going on since September.
Leased vehicle in 2023 after a few months rear suspension was giving problems after a year of ignoring claims they saw the rear bushings were out. They changed it and after a few months again the problem came back more permanent. They admitted the part was faulty. Change the suspension and now it sounds like a space ship when breaking. Went in for 30k maintenance and now the ac vents sound like a plane. Two days later after a storm I see the roof is leaking and rear sunroof is also leaking. Since the near three year ownership it has been problem after problem not cause by me but by poor quality management at the dealer.
I was driving my 2023 Hyundai Palisade at 75 mph on i25 in northern colorado when I heard a terribly loud noise like an explosion above my head. I jerked but kept control of the car. My immediate thought was that something dropped on my roof but I wasn't under an overpass. Frantically looking in all directions, I saw something dark flying in the air towards the side of the road. At the same time, motorcycles traveling behind me were moving out of my lane. I pulled over and found my sunroof had instantaneously exploded outwards. There were bits of glass everywhere. It was certainly a startling driver safety issue that caused me to jerk the wheel. At highway speeds, it is fortunate that I didn't lose control or roll my vehicle. If the inside sunroof cover had been open as it is most of the time, bits of glass would have exploded all over the inside of the car showering the driver and passengers, including their faces and eyes. It was a terribly dangerous situation. I immediately reported it to my dealer who would not even look at the car. The dealer said they don't deal with glass. They recommended a glass installer, anders glass. Anders didn't deal with sunroofs. They sent me to novus glass who inspected, sealed up, then ordered and replaced the unit with a used sunroof. The problem couldn't be reproduced because the sunroof was shattered. There are no glass warning lights. No other warning lights, messages or symptoms appeared before or after the sunroof spontaneously exploded outward.
I noticed my right rear tire skidded on the road when I turned. Went to dealer. They didn't find anything. Leaving a drive through once I hit the other road crossing my tire did the same. It felt like the break was not releasing. Yesterday leaving my driveway we slowed down and both rear tires felt like you were dribbling a ball. As if the breaks were going on and off. It was less than 15 seconds but it was scary. I read an article where in other states other Palisades are having the same issue and they were not repaired. It has to do with the abs per the article. No warning signs pop up on my dashboard. I'm glad I don't drive fast. I'm worried something worse can happen. I did not report to police there was no accident.
The steering wheel locks briefly when the idle stop and go (isg) system restarts the vehicle. This happens intermittently, about 50% of the time. It has affected the ability to steer the vehicle properly when turning at a traffic light after the isg system has initiated an engine shutdown and subsequent restart. This issue has been reported to our local dealership, but the technicians were not able to reproduce the issue. We have also experienced a complete loss of electrical power in the vehicle with the isg system a few times. Unfortunately, there is no way to permanently deactivate the isg system; the auto stop button must be pressed every time the vehicle is used to deactivate it for that trip.
Was driving on the freeway today when I heard a crazy exploding sound. I thought it was a gunshot. Then I heard stuff falling off the roof of my car. Apparently my sunroof spontaneously exploded which was terrifying!!!.
While the car was in motion all the warning lights started going off for adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, parking collision warning, rear cross traffic warning saying that they weren’t working and then the power steering turned off all the dash lights came on like the check engine, the oil light, battery, car lock, abs, traction on and off, tire pressure etc. Then the engine turned off and would not start again.
I was driving home in the evening and we heard a loud explosion then shattered glass. When we pulled over to check, our sun roof had exploded outward.
I was driving about 40mph on a sunny, dry day, and approached a red light. I depressed the brake, and rather than stopping, the brake vibrated and the car continued to coast an additional 2 car lengths. On a second occasion, about 2 months later, I was driving about 25mph on a sunny, dry day, and I came to an intersection. I applied the brake, and again, rather than stopping, the brake vibrated and the car coasted into the intersection. There was a car coming, so I had to honk the horn repeatedly to alert the other driver that my car was not stopping. I took the car to the dealership. They have been unable to reproduce the problem, so they insist that nothing has happened and they want me to take the car back.
While driving to our vacation destination, we head a very loud pop from the roof area. We found a place to pull over and realized that there was a huge hole in our sunroof glass. Nothing hit the car while driving, it just spontaneously exploded upward and shattered the area around it. There was broken glass all over the sunroof area. Nothing had come into contact with it. It just exploded upward and shattered.
I was slowing down approaching an intersection with cars already at a full stop up ahead. I was braking to slow down in preparation to stop. As I got closer, I drove over railroad tracks and felt the brake pedal begin to vibrate like the automatic emergency braking system kicked in. With my foot still on the brake, the car continued forward without any additional decrease in speed. I pushed my foot down as hard as I could and the car stopped inches from the car in front of me. I’m not sure if me pressing on the brake more even did anything or if some other collision avoidance system in the car stopped it before colliding with the car in front of me. There was beeping and the display switched to show cameras in front of the car, which happens when getting close to something while parking, etc. Luckily I was slowing and not at a high rate of speed. If I had hit the car ahead of me, there would have been damage but not major. What if I was going faster when this occurred? or if I was braking for a person or bike? or if it was collision avoidance that actually stopped the car here but I was the first car stopping in the intersection and couldn’t stop.
Palisade's windshield cracked without any incidents, SUV was parked in the garage and today morning 03/21/2024 it had a 15-20 inch crack on the bottom of the windshield.
SUV turned itself off in traffic. I had it towed to dealership and they told me that they couldn't fund anything wrong. The SUV could not accelerate in traffic three weeks ago. Had to turn on side road from traffic. SUV has been at dealership for three weeks no progress.
Major safety concern with vehicle stalling, having no power, not moving mainly in snow mode. The first month of purchase the car stalled, had no power, would not move in comfort mode. My husband was driving and I thought it was a weird fluke or something. Then it happened driving up the hill to our house several times over the past year. That was annoying enough and then it snowed last week, roads were snow packed and icy. I was headed to work, had car in snow mode, attempted to pull out into traffic (thankfully with a whole lot of room between me and oncoming traffic!) and the car would not move. It literally stalled/lagged and would not go. I was almost read ended on a highway!!! this is not ok! I took the Palisade into the dealership to look at/test and they "could not get it to replicate the issue". I also submitted a complaint to Hyundai corporate, and after speaking with a case manager several times over the phone and via email - including sending them recorded video documentation of the issues, Hyundai determined that they would do nothing about this and would not even purchase the vehicle back. They could care less that a vehicle they produced is causing major safety issues for the public. I am beyond irate! we way overpaid for this car ("high demand" at the time of purchase) - $15,000 down, and because Hyundai does not care about their product, we just traded the vehicle in to get rid of it and had to pay an additional $7,000 out of pocket. There are literally no words!!! my families safety is worth more than the money we lost out on with that awful vehicle.
The second all glass sunroof combusted in the center while driving. It sounded like a tire blowing out, really loud burst. No warning. I had the front window closed but the shade slide open. The second shade slide was closed, thankfully, otherwise it would have shattered glass everywhere inside the car.
When put in snow mode, there is a loss of power or failure for the car to accelerate at all. You can put the accelerator to the floor, and the car will not move forward. You basically can not drive in traffic. I had to pull over multiple times to the shoulder, because the car would not accelerate at all. I could not even get to the shoulder, because the car would not drive. Almost caused multiple accidents as the car stops without warning. It happens without any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms. It is not because the car is in snow and trying to not spin tires or get stuck. You can try to very gently accelerate and it still won't go. You can push harder on the gas, still won't go. It is like it stalls but the car is still running. Just all of a sudden will not accelerate. I took a video of it occuring and gave that to the dealership. I took the car to the dealership as it was new, and they could not "replicate the problem. " we no longer used the snow mode after that incident. Now, approximately a year later, we had a winter storm, so attempted to use the snow mode and it happened again this week. Attempting to turn into oncoming traffic and the car stalled out, almost causing a collision. I have read online this is happening to multiple people and other people have contacted NHTSA. The dealerships can't "replicate" the issue, so no one is getting help. This is a serious safety issue that will cause a collision or worse, if it has not already. A recall and safety update to the system is needed for cars experiencing this failure!.
2023 Palisade is stalling out. Happened three times in the last six months, I’m slowly driving around 20mph and then it decides it doesn’t want to accelerate. The car is still running, but the engine won’t rev or move, no rpm increase with pumping the pedal, the engine is silent, and I just hang out at 20 mph (pedal to the floor and all). It has moments of movement (gets up a few more mph) then stops accelerating again. Lasts for about 30 seconds then is back to normal. I’ve looking through the other post about people’s vehicles shutting off, but mine isn’t turning off completely, just freezing up.
I was driving down the roadway and heard a loud noise that sounded like an impact followed by the sound of glass cracking. The panoramic sunroof suddenly shattered. I was confused because I had not gone under an over pass and there were no trucks in front of me to launch a rock in my direction. I thought maybe something had fallen out of the sky from an airplane or something. It was very frightening!.
I bought a 2023 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy and I found out the seat controls do not work and the air condition doesn’t work but they were fixed but the most important thing is the blue link button where the rear view mirror is inside the car that I need in case of an emergency doesn’t work at all and doesn’t connect to Hyundai blue link . I called Hyundai manufacturer and I called Hyundai blue link several times and their stupid engineers couldn’t fix the problem and I went to the dealership and their service dept and they couldn’t fix the issue . This is a brand new car that the blue link inside it doesn’t work at all and I paid for 3 years service . I push the blue link butto then it connects then it ends with no ring tone and no one on the other side . It keeps disconnecting and fails to connect me to blue link . This is a major defect in the Hyundai Palisade calligraphy and needs to be addressed seriously and professionally by Hyundai and get it fixed immediately. I am attaching photos and videos and on my car screen it shown that blue link ended on 12/31/2023 but that is wrong because I have blue link until 1/26/2026 three more years but my car screen has it as expired on 12/31/2023 and that is wrong.
The way this vehicle is designed, the angle of the lower screen that controls the ac is at the perfect angle to blind its drivers at times of sunset and sunrise and even some times between the two. This can happen no matter which cardinal direction you are traveling. I am blinded on a curvy road I drive every day to pick up my child to school. Its to the point where I have to completely cover the lower controls due to this reflective blinding.
I have bought this 2023 Hyundai Palisade and the blue link button and the sos emergency butto do not work at all and I cannot get connected with the sos emergency services in case of a crash or a medical emergency and that is a huge safety issue . I contacted Hyundai blue link and Hyundai customer service and it’s been 45 days with no resolution yet and they don know how to fix this issue and cannot fix this issue . I want Hyundai to open a recall on the blue link button and the sos button to fix it and repair this defect . Also I am enrolled in blue link till 1/26/2026 but t shows on the screen in my car that the blue link has expired on 12/31/2023 and that is wrong.
Hazy film on second row window blinds you when pulling out almost got hit twice because of the sun glaring on the hazy blurry window. The dealer ship is aware of this and said they need to be replace but Hyundai said it was made that way. This is the first year for these kind of windows they are dangerous when trying to see out. When you ride in second row it hurts your eyes because they are so hazy especially on a sunny day everything looks blurry. Needs to be a recall before lot of people has bad wreck and some one loses their life the rest of the windows aren't laminated "if these are really laminated like they say" shouldn't be a problem to exchange them out.
This is the third occurrence since we bought the car new in August of '23. The car will lock all of its doors and we won't be able to get inside. Once we manage to get inside the dash will not display. We can not turn anything on except for the dome lights (which indicate the battery has power, thus not the problem). We have tried jump starting the car on our own with no luck. The first trip to the repair shop, the technician said it was a "multi-fuse" that needed replaced. The second time (after the exact same symptoms and failed home jump start attempts) the technician said that wasn't the case and that they didn't know what caused it. And that we would need to wait for it to happen again and hopefully they could catch it if something did happen. . Well, it happened again. Exact same symptoms. We have young children in car seats and we live in a cold climate. If it is 0 degrees out and it happened again and they were in the car it would be a terrible, fatal thing! we buy new to avoid problems and things like this.
Cannot get either of 2 local kerry dealerships to back with me to schedule an appointment for repair.
We heard a very loud gunshot noise on 2023-10-20 while traveling on the i40 during a weekend road trip. We immediately got off the upcoming exit to inspect the tires for a blowout and other vehicle issues, however no issues were seen. No 18 wheelers or construction vehicles were near us at the time of the event. Later on we kept hearing a rattling sound that was baffling. The shattered moonroof was discovered when the shade was slightly cracked when inspecting the culprit of the rattling noise. I immediately closed the cracked moonroof shade and checked the top of the vehicle to discover a huge hole in the moonroof. Thankfully the sunshade protected us from the shattered glass and no one was hurt. The vehicle was taken to the dealership upon returning home on 2023-10-23 for an inspection and they observed it appeared that the moonroof blew out (up position). The dealership will be covering the replacement of the moonroof under warranty.
