There are two major safety recalls that have not been fixed by the manufacturer, making this vehicle unsafe to drive. 1) seatbelts come undone; no estimated timeline for parts to be available for repair 2) vehicle's interior cabin design may not provide sufficient protection for third-row occupants during a rollover; no estimated timeline or remedy available for repair.
1. The exact component that failed is unknown at this time. The fire appeared to originate in the driver-side front area of the engine compartment near the headlight. Prior to the fire the vehicle experienced engine shaking and a check engine light. The vehicle has been towed to a Hyundai dealership and is available for inspection by insurance investigators, the manufacturer, or safety investigators upon request. 2. The vehicle caught fire while it was being operated on a public roadway shortly after leaving our residence. Flames were visible from the engine compartment within minutes of driving. This created an immediate safety risk to the occupants of the vehicle and to other motorists because the fire occurred suddenly while the vehicle was in motion. 3. The problem has not been reproduced. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership following the fire incident and is awaiting inspection. The vehicle is a total loss. 4. The vehicle has been inspected by a tow operator and insurance representatives after the fire incident. The vehicle is currently located at a Hyundai dealership and may be inspected by the manufacturer or investigators if requested. 5. Yes. Prior to the fire the check engine warning light illuminated and the engine began shaking while the vehicle was being driven. Within moments of these symptoms a loud popping sound was heard from the front driver-side engine compartment area, followed by visible flames.

The paint on my make and model vehicle has a widespread paint adhesion defect, not isolated to road debris damage. I have reported the issue to my dealer and to Hyundai customer care and I have been told that it would not fall under a warranty repair. The paint delamination is extensive enough to lead to structural rust if it is not repaired.
The vehicle has two open safety recalls. Recall 26v034000 – the vehicle does not meet federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 226 for ejection mitigation. There is currently no remedy available. Recall 25v607000 – seat belt buckle may not latch properly, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. The vehicle also had a powertrain fault that triggered the check engine light and it has been at the dealership for more than 30 days for I am concerned about the safety of my famil.
This complaint concerns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade subject to two active safety recalls that remain unresolved, creating an ongoing safety risk. The first involves noncompliance with fmvss 226 (ejection mitigation), identified in a January 2026 recall. The manufacturer has acknowledged the vehicle may not meet federal occupant protection requirements but has provided no remedy and no timeline for repair. The second involves defective seat belt buckle assemblies that may fail to properly latch. An authorized dealer confirmed the condition and advised that parts have been ordered; however, no estimated arrival date or repair timeline has been provided. As a result, the repair cannot presently be completed. The vehicle is used to transport young children in rear-facing car seats that rely on properly functioning seat belts for secure installation. The inability to ensure proper seat belt function, combined with the lack of compliance with fmvss 226, presents an ongoing safety risk. Despite multiple written inquiries, the dealer has not provided any written confirmation regarding repair timing, instead offering only verbal and unverifiable updates. The manufacturer has been placed on written notice but has not provided any substantive response or identified an available remedy. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized dealer, who confirmed the recalls and the current inability to complete repairs. These conditions have persisted for months without an available repair path, leaving the vehicle in continuous use despite known safety defects and federal noncompliance. The inability to obtain a verifiable repair timeline or confirm parts availability demonstrates that the defects cannot be remedied within a reasonable time. Supporting documentation is attached. The lack of available remedy, combined with the inability to complete or verify recall repairs for safety-critical restraint systems, leaves occupants exposed to preventable injury risks in crash scenarios.

Rear sunroof exploded randomly.
I have been cut very deeply at least 6 times on the driver's door, and my wife has been cut at least 3 times (she does not ride in it as often) on the passenger side door while closing. The edge (point) on both sides is rough and sharp. I have begun carrying first aid supplies as it takes 20 mins to stop the bleeding and I am getting scars. This has been reported to the dealership but the service manager states they will investigate. I have found numerous reports online of the same issue with 2025 Palisades. This also occurred with the 2020-2022 model and resulted in recalls of some trim packages.
I was driving and the sunroof glass randomly combusted. Nothing hit it, and there were no other cars around.
This is the second time I’ve had this incident. I was driving in the middle of nowhere texas, no other cars or pedestrians were present. There were no overpasses or construction and out of nowhere. My sunroof exploded at 50 miles an hour. The weather was fair around 60°. This being the second time it had happened. I knew it was a sunroof and did not open the cover to inspect. I pulled over, got out of my car and looked and saw that my sunroof had blown out and upwards. The first time this happened, it was covered with minimal effort. Now that this has happened a second time with the car less than two years old I have to wait for the manufacturer to confirm it will be covered again.
Tried to open sunroof and it came off its track and twisted which caused some pieces to break. It is stuck in an open position. The vehicle has 144,000 miles so it no longer has any warranty coverage. We had to gorilla tape it down otherwise it could fly off while going down the road. I’ve read there has been many of the same incident happening to others.

The sunroof glass shattered on its own without any objects hitting it.
The sunroof glass exploded while traveling on the highway. The glass panel was closed shut about a minute before the incident. Small and large glass fragments entered the passenger cabin while traveling at highway speed. One large fragment caused a small laceration to the drivers arm. Another fragment struck the vehicle traveling behind and caused minor damage. Other large and small fragments landed on 2nd row passengers. There was no evidence of a foreign object or road debris causing this incident.
The windshield (visibility system) on my 2025 Hyundai tucson (VIN: [xxx] ) was cracked on [xxx]. I immediately contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle (in new york), and later local Hyundai dealers in florida where I now reside. I was informed that the windshield is on a nationwide oem backorder with no estimated time of arrival (eta). As of August 6, 2025, the part remains unavailable, and the vehicle has been inoperable for 57 days, parked in my garage. The crack makes the vehicle unsafe to drive, and due to advanced driver assistance systems (adas) such as lane keeping assistance and forward collision warning, the windshield requires proper oem calibration post-installation, which cannot be performed until the correct part is secured. The issue was confirmed by multiple Hyundai dealers and 3rd-party glass installers, all of whom indicated they are unable to acquire the correct windshield due to Hyundai’s ongoing parts shortage. No resolution has been provided by Hyundai corporate. Although one vendor was referenced by the dealer, they too did not have the part available locally. Hyundai has offered limited rental reimbursement, but not enough to cover costs during this extended downtime. No inspection has been conducted by the manufacturer or insurance company beyond initial confirmation of the damage. No warning lights or messages preceded the incident — the issue is entirely due to the unavailability of a critical oem part, making the vehicle unsafe and unusable. I am paying monthly for a financed vehicle that cannot be driven due to a manufacturing and supply chain failure beyond my control. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
After 45 days of purchasing the SUV I notice the front grille was checking and flaking. Report it to the dealership and Hyundai. They said it was caused by "out influence". So they didn't cover it. After several attempts back and forth with dealership they finally agreed to cover the replacement front grille. This is an on going issue with these grilles. The new grille is starting to do the same thing. Many Hyundai Palisade customers on the forums are talking about this issue!.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied, while attempting to close the front driver’s and passenger’s side doors, the contact became aware that the lower moldings had detached. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and it was determined that the clip attached to the molding had detached. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the decision made by the dealer was final and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 37,713.

I tried opening my sunroof and it made a clicking noise and is now stuck partially open. The dealership said that there is a set of Hyundai vehicles that are being covered by this malfunction but that my particular VIN isn't included. A Hyundai dealership is looking at it on Monday 03/17/2025 and is unsure if Hyundai will cover the repair since my VIN isn't included and I am past the bumper to bumper warranty. I only have the powertrain warranty left.
The child safety lock fails frequently. It begins to click as if it is trying to lock the rears doors and then a warning on the dash says the child locks have failed. I have 2 children and this is a big problem.
1. On several occasions while braking over uneven surfaces, the vehicle would not come to a complete stop, the brake pedals and steering wheel shook violently, and the vehicle continued to propel forward although I had the brakes engaged. This almost caused me to collide with other vehicles. The dealership could not replicate the issue and said it was a normal response. No, that is wrong; this is abnormal and dangerous. But at any rate, there was a safety recall recently to address the same issue that I have been complaining about so I hope it fixes the problem 2. Also, the paint on the roof rails and the door handles are flaking off. The coating and paint on the roof rails is splotchy, rough, and uneven, and the door handles continue to peel horribly. The dealership said corporate and parts denied my warranty request deeming the issue as normal wear and tear when the dealership said it was a paint and workmanship defect. No new vehicle should be losing its paint like this. Me simply opening a door and driving a car should not cause handles and roof rails to peel. It id getting worse. Also in conducting research on the issue, it is found to be a problem others have complained about as well. I have filed several complaints and claims in attempt to get my truck fixed.
Sunroof shattered without object impact during cold weather.
When the child safety lock is engaged and the vehicle is in a driving or no-driving state, all the doors start to make a clicking noise. I am not sure if the child lock is engaged at this point, which creates safety issues, especially when driving with kids.
The vehicle, a 2020 Hyundai Palisade sel, was located in a closed garage, unoccupied. Within 10 minutes of parking the car in the garage, it caught on fire, possibly originating on the front, driver's side. Due to this incident occurring inside a garage, there was damage to our home and a high risk of safety (including loss of life) to the home and its occupants. At this time, we are waiting for the insurance company to investigate the origin of the fire as there were no warning lights or any indication of risk. This fire happened very suddenly and unexpectedly and it is our sincere hope that a thorough investigation will prevent this from happening to other families.
1. The paint (all the way down to the metal), in more than 3 spots, has started peeling off. 2 spots are about 2 feet each, so about 4 feet in total of missing paint. The silver on my rims has also started to peel off. 2. Paint has peeled off in large chunks which is unsafe. 3. The paint has been seen by service technicians at autonation, where I bought it from and service at a Hyundai dealership. 4. I have not filed a claim with insurance yet as it was recommended by both autonation and the dealership that it is a manufacturer defect and needs to be fixed by them. They both stated I could pay to have it repainted but it would just start chipping again since it is a manufacturer defect. The primer on the entire car was not applied properly so the paint is not sticking, hence why the paint has peeled all the way down to the metal. Just before I bought it, the paint had peeled on the hood and autonation repainted it back in October of 2024 and the paint has started peeling in the same spot as of February of 2025. The 2 spots that have 2 feet of paint gone happened all in one day back in decmeber 2024. No wreck, no damage to the car, I just walked out after driving it and paint was gone. 5. Both autonation and the dealership said they had never seen anything like this and this is a manufacturer defect 100%. No one wants to touch it since they have all claimed it will just peel again and I'll be right back in the shop a month later.
The paint is peeling on my white Hyundai Palisade. I see all over the internet that people are having issues with the white paint peeling. I cant find anyone who can help me. How can I get this fixed without cost?.
Paint started chipping… dealer stated it was from a rock, however a rock chip doesn’t cause a whole section of paint bigger than a quarter to just flake off. . Ironically there was another vehicle on the lot having the same issues . Picture is included. . Second issue is the engine it makes a grinding noise when driving almost like the cams or transmission is going to go bad, but I think it’s the timing chain. Lasty the suspension it has clicking noises that cannot be resolved.
The wind deflector for the sunroof malfunctioned while attempting to close the sunroof. The wind deflector became lodged in the track for the sunroof and broke which caused the sunroof to shift and not close fully. When researched online, this is a common occurrence with this year and model vehicle. It could potentially cause the glass to shatter above the drivers head and cause an accident. The sunroof would not fully close causing it to leak when it rained. The glass panel was removed and manually slid into the closed position to prevent further damage. Now the sunroof is inoperable. The vehicle can be inspected upon request. The issue has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or anyone else. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. We would like this issue to be resolved as it is a potential hazard.
Was driving on the freeway today when I heard a crazy exploding sound. I thought it was a gunshot. Then I heard stuff falling off the roof of my car. Apparently my sunroof spontaneously exploded which was terrifying!!!.
My husband was driving down the highway when he heard a loud boom! he then heard some wind. He pulled over to the side only to discover that the sunroof had exploded. Then while on his way to the dealership he could hear it crumbling more.
Sunroof randomly exploded while I was driving.
While driving to our vacation destination, we head a very loud pop from the roof area. We found a place to pull over and realized that there was a huge hole in our sunroof glass. Nothing hit the car while driving, it just spontaneously exploded upward and shattered the area around it. There was broken glass all over the sunroof area. Nothing had come into contact with it. It just exploded upward and shattered.
When the brakes are applied while in low speeds and you are driving on rough pavement or you hit a bump in the road the car skids and won't come to a stop. It feels like the abs has kicked in. There are a few brick roads in my town. In just one block when I stop it will skid almost completely through the stop sign. I have to brake almost halfway before I get to the stop sign. The other day I was driving in the middle of town going around 25 mph and went to stop at a stoplight. My car hit a patch of rough pavement and skidded almost into the back of the car in front of me. I have only had my Palisade for a few months and the paint is chipping terribly. I have the night edition and 2 weeks after having it there were tons of chips in the grill. I do not live on gravel nor do I travel on gravel often. This should not be happening this soon. Why is there not a protectant applied? why is my paint chipping so soon?.
While driving down the interstate heard a loud sound, sounding like a shot gun. Looked and the sunroof shattered. Immediately took it into the dealership and they determined it was not hit by anything and they have been seeing a rise of this happening. They are fixing under warranty and had to give me rental car because they don’t know how long it will take. It was extremely scary and thankfully my sunroof cover was closed. I can easily see this causing a car accident.
The sunroof spontaneously exploded while driving on the highway.
My brakes stop working anytime I drive over lose gravel and brake or over speed bumps. It will vibrate. And skid. I have taken it in 5 times and they said it’s normal I owned 5 cars and none of them are like this.
