Windshield trim on driver’s side a pillar has failed (come loose) multiple times causing a rattling noise to be present when driving at high speeds. After trim, brackets, rivets (to include larger rivets), and windshield have all been replaced multiple times, the noise is still present. It goes away in cold weather, leading to believe that the issue is with the frame of the vehicle.

The white paint on this 2022 Hyundai Palisade is peeling on the roof, and in one place on the hood which is now causing rust. This has been a reported recall for other Hyundai models with the white paint. It looks as if the paint did it bond properly.

The sunroof on our 2021 Hyundai Palisade spontaneously shattered while driving. There were no other vehicles around, it just exploded. Fortunately the shade cover was closed so no glass flew into the vehicle.

The rear liftgate will not close more than half-way down whether using the remote, the dash-mounted switch, the rear inner button, or manually. Since the rear lights including the stop and turn lights) are mounted on this door, this seems like a safety issue. We've contacted every hundai dealer in town and were told they might be able to get us in 3 weeks or so down the timeline. Googling this particular issue came up with one earlier similar failure that turned out to be a plastic part that broke and jammed the door.

1) while I was driving, the “rear passenger door trim” started to come off of my car. My car was not hit and I did not hit anything. Upon further evaluation, the plastic pieces holding the trim on were broken. How they became broken is unknown. I was able to reattach trim to my car, but it is still loose because the plastic pieces holding the trim on are still broken. 2) it was a safety hazard to others while driving on the road. If it flew off my car while driving on the highway, it could hit other cars, potentially causing an accident. In addition, it was difficult for my child to climb out of the car without getting cut by the trim. 3) my dealer has verified that the trim is broken and loose on my car. 4) the Hyundai dealer has inspected to problem. $550 was the verbal quote to replace. Not covered by warranty. 5) no warning messages for the problem. My child told me about it when she tried to get out of the rear passenger door. Problem first noticed July 2023. Looking online, multiple people have complained about this happening to them for no reason on the same exact car. I believe the plastic pieces holding the trim on the car are defective.
Sun roof glass spontaneously shattered while driving on the freeway without hitting anything else with glass falling on to the sun shade.
Sunroof shattered while driving down the highway without impact. Drove 8. 5 hours of a 9. 5 hour drive and the sunroof randomly shattered. There were no bumps in the highway at the time it occurred. We were going around a slight right hand curve. The glass breaking sounding like a gunshot. Glass sharps went inside and outside the cabin of the vehicle. The dealer can’t get the vehicle in for 3 weeks to fix it. Forums show others having the same issue with 2022 models.
2020 Hyundai Palisade bought new with extended warranty that was supposed to "cover everything". The plastic items on the vehicle started failing with sun damage & the paint on the lift gate & roof started failing in 2023. The plastic items failing are the both driver/passenger rear view mirrors, the rear lift gate spoiler that houses one of the brake lights, the black trim on each side of the spoiler, the paint on the rear lift gate & paint on the roof including around the moon roofs. I brought it to the attention of the dealership I go to each time I brought it in for service or other warranty issues. I feel like I was blown off & not taken seriously. When they finally found & pull up my extended warranty to look at what it covered & inspected the sun damage/defect on June 27, 2025 they told me the manufacturer's warranty expired & it was not covered under my extended warranty. I voiced my frustration, saying they knew about this issue for about a year & when it possibly could have been under the warranty but not it is not. I asked how I can escalate this & they gave my the consumer affairs phone # for Hyundai. I contacted them, case#[xxx], and at their request I went to a dealership for them to inspect the damage/defect. I was later told the same thing, it is out of warranty. After researching my issue, I have discovered this vehicle has a recall for this exact issue, but for different paint colors. Just not my suvs color blue. Seeing how this damage happened in such a short period of time & the amount of damage/defect is not normal given that timeframe, I am worried about it getting worst quickly. This could affect the function of the brake light & rear view mirrors thus affecting my safety, the function of the vehicle, & it's value. Our family was driving home and we then heard a loud noise coming from the car roof. Startled from the unexpected boom, as there was not a car in front of us nor debris of any kind in the lane being driven in. The windshield was free of any cracks/damage as well as the front body of the vehicle. The sunroof shattered on it's own. Luckily the sunroof cover was closed and glass did not enter the interior vehicle, a big blessing as our children were in the second and third row seats. If the sunroof interior cover was open, mutitiple children would've possibly suffered eye damage due to the trajectory of the glass shattering to the rear of the vehicle. We are deeply bothered learning that other Palisades have had similar incidents. The sunroof shattered directly in the center as confirmed in other incidents for Hyundai owners in recent Hyundai forums. As an owner, I would hope that Hyundai takes accountability and necessary safety measures to secure the well being of their customers. Our car was taken to the dealer the very next morning after the incident. Our vehicle only has 8,000 miles and the sunroof defect is not covered by the dealership warranty. The dealership stated they will not cover the sunroof defect and sent us to Hyundai corporate. Hyundai corporate got back to us after 7 days after opening a case number and just assigned a case manager. Both the dealership and Hyundai corporate are treating this incident as if this is not a sunroof defect, when it's a known Hyundai sunroof glass defect for Hyundai Palisades and other Hyundai vehicles equipped with a sunroof have had similar issues. We will not use our car insurance as this is a hazardous vehicle defect that should be covered under warranty, not by our personal insurance.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated while driving at 30-40 mph, he heard abnormal rattling sounds coming from the front driver's side ceiling. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately six times. The dealer test drove the vehicle and diagnosed that the abnormal sounds were coming from front driver's side headrest. The dealer replaced unknown components of the headrest; however, the failure persisted. The dealer informed the contact that they could not repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 2,431.
Two days ago, my husband took our vehicle to the car wash. At the other end of the car wash, it was discovered that the closed panoramic sunroof was completely destroyed during the process. Shards of glass were everywhere. We have contacted Hyundai and they have told my husband there is no class action suit about this problem. Even though it is under warranty, as it is a 2022, they refuse to take responsibility to take care of the damages. I have found through my research, that this was a class action lawsuit, which was closed in 2017, but continues to be a very bad problem for not only Hyundai but many other vehicles using a particular type of glass. We are now unable to get the parts to repair it, as the glass company cannot get a part from Hyundai, and Hyundai refuses to comply comply.
While driving our Palisade on the freeway, the sunroof exploded without warning. Fortunately, the sunroof was closed and we had the internal compartment closed and no one was behind us on the freeway. So the glass did not enter the vehicle or hit another vehicle. But if the indoor compartment was open then glass would have entered into the vehicle and striking individuals in the car. The shattered glass did do damage to the top of our car (I. E. Scratches deep enough to take off the paint completely). Based on online forums, and one law firm’s (based in connecticut) website, this is a known problem with the Hyundai Palisade. It also appears that the NHTSA is investigating the kia sorento for this same problem. Thus, the problem has been replicated in other vehicles and kia/Hyundai are aware of the problem. Our vehicle has not yet been inspected by anyone (we are taking it to the dealer in the near future). There was no warning that this was going to happen, it just sounded like a gun was being fired in our car.
The sunroof of my Hyundai Palisade calligraphy shattered on its own on the very second day of owning it. This seems to be a common issue with sunroof on Hyundai Palisade.

At 40 mph+, the inside of the vehicle sounds like you are in a wind tunnel. The noise is so excessive that it gives you a headache at speeds over 50 mph. The excessive wind noise is coming from the driver’s side.
A small pin hole in the second row passenger side door arm rest. Also a crack on the window pan trim cover panel on the same door.
Wind noise coming from passenger side door/window when going 40+ mph.
The tract that the front seat move back or forth on are dangerous while cleaning or removing mats as the end of tracts are very sharp and can slice your hand when pulling mat out or just cleaning.
Power liftgate fell without warning and struck my wife in the head. Liftgate will go up and down when activated, but will fall without warning.
When exiting the vehicle the door ripped a gash in my right leg in the calf area. There was a recall, they supposedly fixed it. It happened again after the repair was made. It doesn't look to me the repair was made. It was repaired by doug's Hyundai on 04/07/2022. I have contacted Hyundaiusa and have a case opened but all I am getting is the runaround. Case 20085813, contact is haley 833. 462. 8722 ext 65118.
Both rear liftgate supports have developed cracks in their plastic housings. The cracks result in a loss of function for the power liftgate and a possibility of the springs inside popping out of the housing and striking the operator.
The sunroof (front unit of panoramic sunroofs) exploded into pieces.
When I was driving on an interstate suddenly the sunroof glass bursted and shattered in to pieces. There was nothing fell on to us only because I had the sunroof cover closed. I just heard a huge noise like shotgun fired and found out that the glass shattered and blew out a hole in the sunroof glass about 18" across. I was 6 hours from home and took it the the local dealer for review the following day. The dealer did promptly and professionally address the matter and they are covering it under warranty. Many owners of Palisades reported this issue as well.
Just purchased this vehicle yesterday. Took it for a test drive two days earlier and noticed very strong interior odor, such a carpet cleaner or disinfectant, which we assumed was from dealership trying to clean, but other cars we test drove did not have this smell. Both my us and and I came home that afternoon with a strong headache that lasted all night. We assumed it was from stress and car shopping's. We still decided to purchase the car, assuming it was still just a disinfectant and would go away. Brought home, opened all doors and windows and back hatch to air out. Sprayed with natural air freshener all over carpets and floors. After one night of sitting closed inside the garage, opened up the doors to find the smell is getting stronger and more intense. Opened the windows to let air out and sprayed carpets again. Today, an article was released that thousands of other Hyundai Palisade owners are complaining of the same issue, and is tied to the higher end models and nappa leather seat, which we have. We now have learned that Hyundai has been made aware of this issue and are not responding. We are sad to find out that our 1 day old car (to us) has such a widespread problem that we were not aware of and cannot stand. We are concerned about the materials and products used to build this high end vehicle and it's affects on our health. I am very sensitive to smell amd have complained of this awful scent since we first sat in the car. Now that we know this may not be something that will just air out and may be an inherent problem directly from Hyundai, we want action. This may be the real reason why the previous owner turned it in. It is awful and I don't feel comfortable sitting myself or my family in our newly purchased vehicle. We feel Hyundai should replace or repair this problem with a recall!.
Driver side glass has developed a hairline crack approximately 8 inches long, while vehicle was parked overnight in my garage.
We were driving at highway speed when the sunroof spontaneously exploded. Dealer verified that there was no evidence of any impact.
Driver side whistle when driving the car if the when the wind is coming from the driver side of the car. The problem seems tot be limited to highway driving and only low whistles in the city. It don't seem to have any whistling when there is no wind, tailwind or headwind. The whistle when on the highway is so loud it is distracting and making it difficult to concentrate on driving therefore a safety hazard. The dealer say it is been researched and is hard to reproduce therefore is doing nothing about the issue. I have video file for you to listen to that I can upload somewhere or send.
Intermittent whistling sound and excessive wind noise. Appears to originate from the front driver and passenger doors/windows. This makes driving very uncomfortable at speeds over 50 mph.
The design of the shifting mechanism is backwards so that drivers meaning to put the vehicle into drive (and go forward) will easily confuse the buttons and put the vehicle into reverse (sending the vehicle backwards). Thinking about a shift knob on a standard vehicle, one thinks of the knob in "reverse" as being back towards the rear windshield. Same with a motorized wheelchair: to go forward you select the position in the front, and to go back, you select the position in the back. The confusion happened to me often enough that I always look at the buttons carefully before going forward to make sure"d" has lit up. My husband, who usually drives another car, drove this vehicle and pressed "" by accident twice and the car obviously went backwards when he meant to go forwards. Everyone I ask has agreed with us that the natural (and therefore most safe) orientation would be to have the most forward button be drive, and the bottom towards the back be reverse. Although we avoided crashes, I think this design creates the real possibility of many accidents.
Toxic gaseous contaminants,. Dealer under the direct guidance of the Hyundai corporate technical department. Dealer and Hyundai corporation has made numerous attempts to repair the gaseous toxic smell from this vehicle and solutions are not correcting the problem. I must say I am disappointed Hyundai corporation and stivers Hyundai owner and representatives failed to inform us of the ongoing gaseous odor dilemma of the Palisade limited purchased /del dat 11aug2020 'sick house syndrome', nausea, or fatigue from exposure to vocs. Some vocs may even cause cancer with a high exposure concentration. After the vehicle had been closed up for over 24hours we opened the Palisade and received a gaseous chemical odor emanating from all four doors and the rear hatch which was both debilitating and frightening. My wife immediately had an asthmatic attack and caused a headache with both events requiring medication . I personally was choked by the odor and almost vomited . I immediately open all doors and stupidly tried to locate which area of the vehicle the terrible odor came from . It was too strong an odor to detect any one area and it permeated from all the doors and rear hatch. "what I did achieve was enough of the gaseous chemical compound in my mouth's mucous membrane and my airway that my taste and breath had the residual odor for over four hours. This was a frightening experience that we cannot withstand again. My wife certainly cannot withstand life threatening asthmatic attacks caused by our brand new Hyundai vehicle, the Palisade I have is unsafe because Hyundai motor America cannot disclose to me what contaminants are causing this toxic odor. What is it and what level of whatever it is would be poisonous ? technical service bulletin 20-bd-018h is non scientific and non engineered cover up of hazardous health issue to all consumers.
Whistling/wind noise occurs around the door glass area while driving.
When driving I can hear wind noise coming from the drivers side door about 60 mph.
Wind noise during driving at 35-40 mph in cabin near driver and passenger doors, becomes more louder on the freeway. A crack in the front windshield after rock/debris had nicked the front windshield while on the freeway. The crack quickly keeps on expanding in a short period of time after getting nicked.
Horrible whooshing sound comes through both the driver and passenger side windows when going 50mph or above. Hyundai has know about it since early their and issued a service bulletin; however, they later retracted it with no additional next steps. This has happened since I purchased the car in February and has been acknowledged / confirmed by the dealer. That said, the dealer will not take action without another service bulletin.
Wind noise occurs with windows/ doors, to include the sunroof. It occurs at all vehicle speeds. When the car is sitting, a 10mph gust of wind also causes this noise. The sun roof is the worse when it comes to this noise, but the shade dampens the sound, so it's never open.
Two issues: 1. Warning indicator comes on along with a warning that reads "check blind-spot collision warning system. " these warning come on after driving for about 10 minutes, and come on even when no other vehicles are around or in blind-spot. Seems to be a faulty sensor. At time of writing this, vehicle only has about 500 (five hundred) miles. 2. Loud whistle/wind noise from coming in from driver side door. Occurs when traveling at approximately 50+ mph. Seems like the door is not sealed properly, even though it is shut all the way. Loud noise could cause driver to be unable to hear emergency sirens, which could be fatal or cause traffic violations. With both issues the vehicle is in motion, on city streets and highway. The warning indicator with the blind spot warning will even stay on when the vehicle is pulled into a lot, comes to a stop, placed in park, and with no one around.
