The driver was pulling onto a driveway and braking to slow to a stop near the entrance of a garage. Suddenly the car surged ahead striking a stone column at the garage entrance severely damaging the column and damaging the front hood, bumper and licence plate area of the car. The air bags did not deploy. This incident occurred at night. At the same time the car surged forward the interior lights and control panel lights went out completely. They came back on after the vehicle hit the garage column. There were two adults and two children in the vehicle. All known recalls (7) at that time had been completed on the vehicle (2022 Hyundai Palisade).

I came to a complete stop at the stop sign and waited for several vehicles to pass on the street I needed to turn onto. I proceed to turn right but the vehicle stalled mid turn. The motor rev'd as I pressed the gas and made weird noises like the truck was stuck in neutral although it was in drive. The tires would not spin to propel me forward. I was stuck in the middle of the street. I shut the truck down for about a minute while flagging others to go around me then started the truck up again. The issue cleared. This has happened several times. Other times, the dashboard display completely blacked out and the drivemode button (eco vs sport vs comfort) changed on it's own and I was not able to manually change settings or get the dashboard to reappear or get the truck to move forward when placed in drive gear. I had to power cycle the truck to get it to work. Very unsafe to be stranded in the road. Dealership reported no trouble found, issue cannot be replicated. I also have suspension issues and reported power loss while driving. Please investigate.

Our 2026 Hyundai Palisade has experienced repeated dangerous electrical failures while driving. Xxx all instrument displays went completely black while driving. The engine continued running. Gateway Hyundai in fargo, nd, checked the vehicle but verbally reported finding no diagnostic codes. Xxx while driving on the highway at night, the interior displays and exterior lights repeatedly flickered off and on. Xxx the vehicle unexpectedly lost power and shut down at highway speed, requiring a tow to don bessette Hyundai in [xxx]. The dealership documented 36 stored diagnostic trouble codes, primarily communication faults. The codes were cleared, and an ecm software update was performed. No confirmed cause was identified. Xxx the instrument panel went completely black twice while driving, lasting approximately 10 minutes and 14 minutes. Xxx while driving at night, the interior and exterior lights again flickered off and on. Approximately 30 minutes later, the instrument panel went black and the exterior lights dimmed. We pulled over, activated the hazard lights, and restarted the vehicle, but normal lighting did not return. We drove approximately 14 miles with hazard lights on to reach the nearest town. The lights eventually returned, but the instrument panel continued flickering, the front camera repeatedly reported being disabled, and driver-attention warnings appeared during the drive home. These failures continued after dealership service and a software update. We are concerned about another sudden loss of engine power, headlights, or critical driver information at highway speeds. These failures pose a serious safety risk to occupants and other motorists. We request that NHTSA investigate these electrical failures. These vehicles are having disabling electrical issues, mine has been in the shop for 3 weeks and the dealership along with tech support from Hyundai are unable to repair yet. As I searched online forums I have found that every one of the 2026 Palisade are having electrical issues that they cannot find a repair for and lot of these vehicles have been in the shop for over a month.

The instrument cluster automatically turns on (and stays on) when a car door or the trunk is opened without the car being started. This lead to the battery draining twice while packing and unpacking the car while on a recent camping trip. If I was not with another family that was able to jump my car, my family would have been stranded in the woods. The automatic wake up is considered a feature, but it can put people's safety in serious jeopardy by causing them to be stranded in remote areas. The trim level of this vehicle is marketed as the off-road package, but this feature makes using the vehicle in the manner it is marketed dangerous.

My 2020 Hyundai Palisade experienced repeated instances of the engine cooling fan continuing to operate after the vehicle was completely shut off. In one instance, the fan ran for about 90 minutes after shutdown. After the vehicle was driven again, it ran for approximately another 45 minutes after shutdown. On a subsequent occurrence, the fan continued running until it discharged the battery enough that the vehicle would not start. Southtowne Hyundai in newnan, georgia subsequently diagnosed the cause as an internal pcb block failure and replaced the engine-room pcb block pursuant to Hyundai technical service bulletin 26-ee-007h, which addresses battery drain caused by continuous cooling-fan operation after the vehicle is turned off. The dealer installed pcb block part number 91959-s8000-fff. The failure was intermittent and did not occur every time the vehicle was shut off. My concern is that the defect could unexpectedly discharge the battery while the vehicle is parked, leaving it unable to restart. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA has a record of the failure and can determine whether similar failures are occurring in other Hyundai Palisades.

The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while at a stoplight and attempting to depress the accelerator pedal while making a left turn, the vehicle lost power. The police showed up on the scene and were able to jumpstart the vehicle and called aaa to have the vehicle towed to the dealer. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine control module needed to be updated. The engine control module was updated; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the dealer test drove the vehicle and informed the contact that the vehicle was operating as intended. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 300.

On September 15, 2026, my 2026 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy would not start and could not be driven. Aaa responded, tested the 12-volt battery, and advised me that it had a bad battery cell. The vehicle was towed to larry h. Miller southwest Hyundai albuquerque for diagnosis and repair. A service representative later told me that a parasitic electrical drain or malfunctioning component may have depleted the battery, but I have not received a written diagnosis confirming the cause. As of September 28, the vehicle remains at the dealership and has not been repaired or returned to me. I have also experienced two seat-related safety concerns. The driver’s seat moves backward automatically and presses into the second-row captain’s seat area where my child’s rear-facing car seat is installed. This movement pushes the child’s head forward. In addition, the second-row seat controls sometimes do not respond when pressed, or the seat moves in the opposite direction from the one selected. I am concerned about my child’s safety from the seat movement and about being stranded with my three children if the vehicle fails to start again. I am reporting the conditions I observed. Hyundai has not provided me with a diagnosis explaining the no-start failure or the seat behavior.

"stop vehicle and check power supply" warning lights accompanied and panic alarm goes off on new 2027 Palisade hybrid calligraphy with 72 miles. The passenger rear brake grabs much more than the others which you can barely feel. Johnson hyundia of apex,nc, where we purchased the vehicle tell us not to bother bringing it to them because unless it has a fault code or constant message, they can't do anything. Hyundia corporate gave me a case number but acted like they never heard of it happening to anyone else. Reddit posts have at least 20 other cases of this same thing happening to new hybrid vehicles.

The vehicle has experienced issues for roughly 6 months randomly not starting. The lights and displays come on but it will not respond to push start. We took it in and they replaced the starter assembly about a month ago. The next day it wouldn’t start again. That same weekend died twice and intersections with the auto stop start like the computer was rebooting. It went back into the shop a few weeks ago and they have been unable to isolate the issue. Opened up a case with Hyundai and it’s back at the dealer again tomorrow for them to work with hq technical teams.

Vehicle purchased new in August 2026. Within 80 miles, it began experiencing a recurring electrical fault causing simultaneous warnings across the steering, braking, and driver-assistance systems (dtcs c28c586, c164286, c181486, c181483, logged via Hyundai's bluelink diagnostic system). The fault has recurred at least 9 times between 80 and 1,121 miles despite three repair attempts (8/28/26, 9/8/26, 9/14/26), including one escalation to Hyundai's national techline (case #2026091700002) referencing TSB 25-gi-016h. Each repair was declared successful, and the identical fault returned within days each time. During active occurrences, dashboard alerts have included "check driver assistance system," "check rear cross-traffic safety system," and simultaneous warnings for lane departure, forward collision, blind spot, and anti-lock braking systems. This represents a loss of reliable communication between safety-critical systems (steering assist, abs, and driver-assistance) while driving, creating a risk of degraded steering or braking response without warning. Manufacturer has declined to repurchase or replace the vehicle.

Blind spot warning system stopped working. Then speedometer stopping working registering 0 both digital and the circle. Then all lights started going off on the dashboard. My dealer cleared codes and errors went to history but not active. When I went to drive again blind spot didn’t work and speedometer didn’t work. I didn’t drive further after that. I heard there was an issue with the 2022 dashboard cluster.

I believe this is related to recall 235, veh was parked on the street, thank god. The Palisade then spontaniusly caught fire, fire department had to be called and insurance company says its a total loss. Fire started in the rear driver side.

On August 4, 2026, our 2023 Hyundai Palisade was brought in for a routine oil change and rear tint recall. The driver's power seat height adjustment mechanism worked perfectly upon drop-off. When the car was picked up, the height adjustment function was no longer operable. The service department inspected the car and admitted that a factory wire bundle beneath the track was physically snapped/severed. To make matters worse, we discovered upon pickup that the vehicle's computer system had been completely factory reset. This was done without our knowledge or consent. When questioned about this, the service manager was entirely unable to provide any valid justification for why an oil change/rear window tint service would require a total system reset. This strongly indicates that service person experienced an electrical short or attempted deep electronic troubleshooting while the vehicle was in their possession, further implicating their shop in this damage. The service manager insists that their team did not cause the damage. However, they were unable to return the seat to the position it was in when dropped off. The primary driver of this vehicle is under 5 feet tall. Because Hyundai returned the car with the seat locked at its lowest setting and was unable to raise it, the primary driver cannot safely maintain visibility over the dashboard. She had to adjust the steering wheel to its lowest setting in order to operate the vehicle. The current configuration is not the ideal, nor safest setup. She uses this car to transport the children and we need the driver's seat operable again as soon as possible.

This vehicle has suffered two identical, catastrophic electrical failures causing an immediate and total loss of engine power while traveling at highway speeds. The first incident occurred after the engine was replaced under a Hyundai extended warranty. The dealership service department blamed that failure on a loose engine ground strap and released the vehicle back to me. On August 3, 2026, the exact same failure occurred for a second time while driving at high speed on the highway. The vehicle lost all propulsion, leaving me exposed to oncoming traffic with zero engine power. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership. The dealership identified a blown "sensor 4" fuse causing an intermittent dead circuit, but they have been unable to locate the short circuit after two weeks of troubleshooting. After demanding the diagnostic data logs, the dealership abruptly halted all repairs and ordered me to pick up the vehicle. Furthermore, due to excessive, repetitive diagnostic cranking and idling in 90+ degree heat while under the dealer's care, the vehicle's starter solenoid has now suffered collateral failure. The vehicle is currently completely disabled, undrivable, and the underlying highway stalling hazard remains completely unresolved. This is a recurring, severe life-safety issue that leaves the vehicle prone to sudden stall events in high-speed traffic without warning.

The speedometer, lane departure, heat gauge, and rpm’s and the whole speedometer cluster will stop working. It does this all the time you never know if it will work and then sometimes it will randomly come back but it’s more in the heat it will not work.

The throttle feels like it’s being pressed even when my foot is onky on the brake.

Vehicle incident statement – 2021 Hyundai Palisade driver/owner: [your name] vehicle: 2021 Hyundai Palisade date of incident: [insert date] location: restaurant drive-thru (vehicle stopped in line) summary of incident on the date listed above, I was stopped in a restaurant drive-thru lane with the vehicle in drive and auto hold engaged. The vehicle had recently had a battery replacement performed at a Hyundai dealership on the day prior to the incident (repair order available). While stopped, I pressed the accelerator to move forward in the drive-thru line. The vehicle did not respond immediately. There was a brief delay, followed by a sudden and unexpected surge of acceleration. Vehicle behavior the vehicle accelerated rapidly after a short delay in response to accelerator input the brake pedal felt normal when pressed applying the brake did not appear to slow or stop the vehicle effectively the vehicle continued moving forward and struck another vehicle additional relevant information the idle stop & go (auto start/stop) system had not been functioning for approximately one year prior to the incident on the day of the incident (after battery replacement), the auto start/stop system began functioning again unexpectedly the vehicle had no known prior issues with unintended acceleration no floor mat or physical obstruction was present affecting the accelerator pedal (to the best of my knowledge) vehicle condition the vehicle has not yet been repaired or inspected and is currently being held pending evaluation. I am requesting that all diagnostic data, including vehicle event data recorder (edr) information and control module logs, be preserved and reviewed. Request I am requesting a full diagnostic and safety review of the vehicle’s electronic throttle, braking, and auto hold systems, including any stored fault codes and event data. Check engine light was on for a week prior to service at dealership and dealership told me they could not service it at that time.

Several times now, the car's engine will shut off while driving at low speed. When it shuts off, there is a relatively loud electrical noise coming from the engine compartment, and the instrument panel has multiple lights and sounds. There have been times when this issue has nearly caused a major accident.

The wireless charging spot is overheating and causing phones to be overheated as well. I had to turn off the wireless charging pad due to it being extremely hot to touch and causing my phone to also be extremely hot to touch. Concerned for device damage as well as a fire risk for the vehicle.

Vehicle developed a check engine light and underwent warranty repair, during which all six fuel injectors were replaced (repair order #1hws5031079, dated 7/8/2026, 33,768 miles). Despite this repair, the check engine light returned, and the vehicle subsequently developed an intermittent hard-start and no-start condition — in some instances the engine would not start on the first attempt and required a second attempt. The vehicle was returned to the dealership for a second repair visit (repair order #1hcs55031999, dated 7/28/2026, 34,090 miles), during which the dealership considered multiple possible causes, including a sensor issue and fuel-related concerns, before completing the repair. The vehicle was out of service for a cumulative total of approximately 22 days across both repair visits. An intermittent no-start condition raises reliability and safety concerns, particularly in situations requiring predictable vehicle operation.

I am reporting a potential safety defect involving my 2021 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy awd. The vehicle has experienced repeated engine and drivability problems and multiple breakdowns following replacement of the engine by Hyundai. The original engine developed excessive oil consumption and was ultimately replaced by Hyundai with a new engine. Following the engine replacement, the vehicle experienced numerous additional mechanical problems and repair attempts, including engine rattling/pinging, intake-manifold replacement, oil valve-seal replacement, multiple cylinder misfires, ignition-system problems and an ignition-coil failure. Most concerning are repeated incidents involving severe shaking/lurching, loss of engine power, stalling and failure to restart. During one incident following repairs, the vehicle ran extremely rough, stalled and would not restart after approximately 20 miles of driving and had to be towed back to the dealership. During another incident, the vehicle experienced heavy shaking on startup, stalled and had severely limited power. Diagnostic history showed misfires involving multiple cylinders. On June 29, 2026, at approximately 103,671 miles, I was driving at approximately 50 mph when the vehicle began to lurch and shake, lost power, stalled and would not restart. The vehicle had to be towed back to the Hyundai dealership. The unexpected loss of propulsion and stalling while traveling at approximately 50 mph created a serious safety concern because I could no longer rely upon the vehicle to maintain power in traffic. The dealership subsequently identified an ignition-coil short/failure and replaced an ignition coil. The vehicle has nevertheless continued to experience additional mechanical problems. The vehicle is currently again at the Hyundai dealership. It has generated diagnostic code p0430 for bank 2 catalyst efficiency below threshold, and Hyundai has recommended replacement of both catalytic converter/manifold assemblies. Th.

On June 27, 2026 I started the vehicle and every warning light came on and the gauge cluster started cycling through system failure warnings for most every component/system on the vehicle. The vehicle was barely drivable, with no power steering, no backup camera, no ac, inoperable gauges, no safety/driver aids, and hard shifting. It was taken to bentley Hyundai in huntsville the same day. The vehicle was diagnosed with a canbus failure and after weeks of troubleshooting they said it was a bad engine wiring harness. The new harness was installed under our extended factory warranty this week. I was informed today, August 29, 2026, that there are still electrical issues with the vehicle. I am concerned about the safety of this vehicle now due to the length of time it has been at the dealership, 60+ days, and continuing issues even after replacement of a major component of the electrical system.

The vehicle's oem wiring harness caught fire during standard operation. We had just started our drive connected to a trailer and break controller that functioned flawlessly for a year with a different vehicle prior to this incident. The trailer is a 2025 and the brake controller was new at the time of purchasing the trailer in February 2025. The only thing that prevented further damage was my husband calling to say something was smoking and I needed to stop the car. I was driving to pickup my husband and children from the campground bath house to drive home. Yes, it is available for inspection. The safety of myself and any passengers was put at risk due to the electrical fire and all extenuating risks associated with that. The problem has not been reproduced by the manufacturer that I am aware of. The tech at the dealership verbally confirmed that the part in question was the cause of the fire and that the new (post repair) part did not have a secure 7way plug attachment to the break controller which was also brand new since the original was damaged during the incident. The components have been inspected by the dealership. There were no lights prior to the failure and there were no lights after the failure until the new temporary harness was installed in slade ky prior to receiving and installing the new (same) oem part once we returned home.

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving a 2023 Hyundai Palisade with approximately 26,000 miles. While the vehicle is being driven, the esc warning light illuminates and the vehicle can unexpectedly come to a stop, shift into park, and shut down. The vehicle must then be restarted before it can be driven again. This condition has occurred while the vehicle is in operation and creates a significant safety concern because the vehicle can unexpectedly stop in the roadway. If this occurs in traffic or at highway speeds, there is a risk of a rear-end collision or other crash. The vehicle has been presented to/communicated about with an authorized Hyundai dealership, alm Hyundai florence in florence, south carolina, but the issue has not been resolved. I am also reporting the issue directly to Hyundai motor America. I am requesting that NHTSA document and investigate this condition to determine whether other 2023 Hyundai Palisade vehicles have experienced similar esc-related shutdown, stopping, or unintended shifting-to-park events and whether a safety defect may exist.

Following completion of recall campaign 296, the third-row rear seat continued to exhibit the same hazardous behavior the recall was intended to correct. During testing, the power-folding third-row seat fully closed onto a u. S. Military-issued kevlar helmet and remained latched in the fully seated/down position without reversing or detecting an obstruction. This demonstrates that the recall remedy/software update failed to restore adequate occupant detection and did not correct the underlying anti-pinch safety functionality. The seat continued applying force against the obstruction instead of stopping or reversing as expected from a functioning anti-pinch system, creating an ongoing risk of serious injury or death to occupants, including children.

While driving on a high-speed interstate with two children in the vehicle, and without any prior warning signs or issues, the dashboard began displaying sequential warnings from multiple advanced driver assistance systems (adas) sensors. As the vehicle continued cycling through numerous dashboard warnings, the power steering failed, making the vehicle difficult to control. Additional electronic systems also began malfunctioning, including the display screen, cameras, and safety sensors, while the driver attempted to safely maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. After reaching the shoulder, the driver powered the vehicle off in an attempt to reset the electrical systems. However, once powered down, the engine would no longer start. When the tow truck arrived, the technician was required to jump-start the battery in order to shift the vehicle into neutral for towing. The technician also showed the driver a low-voltage reading on the jump-start device, indicating a possible alternator or charging-system failure. Hyundai dealership representatives later stated that diagnostic testing of the alternator and electrical system showed no faults and informed the customers that the battery was simply dead. After the dealership replaced the battery, the customers drove the vehicle approximately 15 miles to their residence. During that drive, the vehicle again began displaying the same sequence of sensor and system failures. The power steering failed a second time, and the same electrical malfunctions experienced during the initial incident were repeated.

Was driving 70mph on the highway, all instrument cluster speed gauges go to 0mph and I lose ability to manage speed through cruise control. Was driving blind and had no clue what speed I was going and was extremely worried for my safely. Dealership said my instrument cluster has failed, won’t cover under warranty or as a safety issue. Ridiculous a 80k 6 year old car has a main gauge part fail.

I went to start the car and it was totally dead. It is used 7 days a week and driven back and forth to work 5 days a week. There was no warning and nothing was left on, just dead. I took the car to the dealer yesterday and they did an electrial system analysis and only found the battery had a slight discharge. Which is frustrating because I don't know when or where this could happen again. The dealer charged the battery and it seems ok at this point.

I recently purchased this vehicle, and shortly after, it began having serious powertrain issues. When I accelerate, the vehicle intermittently loses power and starts shaking violently. It feels like the engine or transmission is slipping or failing. The rpms surge and drop rapidly, and the vehicle hesitates, jerks, and sometimes briefly slows down before suddenly accelerating again. This creates an unsafe and unpredictable driving condition, especially when merging or driving in traffic. I’m concerned about a loss of propulsion while the vehicle is in motion. My mechanic indicated the issue may involve the torque converter clutch not engaging properly (possible “stuck off” or circuit performance issue), which would explain the shuddering and inconsistent power transfer. Despite how severe this is, there are no warning lights or check engine light, and no diagnostic codes, which raises concern that the failure is not being detected by the vehicle’s onboard systems. I am also experiencing low and fluctuating engine oil levels even after topping it off and a recent oil change, which may indicate an additional engine-related defect. The vehicle has a clean title and no accident history. - failed system: powertrain (engine/transmission), suspected torque converter clutch malfunction. Vehicle is available for inspection. - safety risk: intermittent loss of power, hesitation, and surging creates a high risk of collision, especially in traffic or at highway speeds. - confirmation: my independent mechanic has identified as likely a torque converter related issue. - inspection status: not yet inspected by manufacturer or insurance. - warnings/symptoms: no warning lights or codes. Symptoms began shortly after I purchased and have worsened over time.

While entering a roundabout at a slow speed (~5mph), the electronic power steering on my wife's car failed, almost resulting in an accident with another vehicle, as it suddenly became very difficult to steer. The vehicle's power steering warning indicator turned on, and then the following warning messages appeared on the dashboard: check forward/side safety system, check lane safety system, check lane following assist system, and check inattentive driving warning system. After turning into a nearby parking lot and parking, the vehicle was turned off and then back on, and all warning messages and the power steering warning indicator turned off. My wife was approximately 1 mile from home and decided to try to drive home. After getting back on the road, the same issue occurred again with all indicators and warnings repopulating on the dashboard this time with the vehicle traveling at approximately 35 mph as she crossed a major intersection. My wife was able to get the car home safely without power steering, and after turning the car off and back on again, all warning messages and indicators turned off again. The next day, 4/30/2026, we contacted our local Hyundai dealer and Hyundai roadside assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it is currently being serviced for this issue. We have not yet received an update on what caused the issue, but we felt it was important to report it to NHTSA because, if it had happened at a higher speed, it could have resulted in a serious accident and possibly serious injury or death of my pregnant wife and child, who was with her in the car at the time. I can provide any and all updates and documentation I receive from the dealer upon request, and the vehicle can possibly be made available for inspection upon request.

The engine oil system failed due to a persistent oil leak that was present from the time of purchase on December 16th 2024. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and is currently immobile due to a completely seized engine. My safety was put at serious risk because the vehicle has no functioning low oil warning indicator to alert the driver of critically low oil levels. I was driving this vehicle regularly for work with no indication whatsoever that the engine was losing oil. A seized engine can cause sudden and complete loss of vehicle control which puts not only the driver but other drivers and pedestrians at risk. This failure occurred without any warning while the vehicle was in regular use. The oil leak was brought to the selling dealership, auto merchants inc. In plano texas, for repair on January 6th 2026. They kept the vehicle overnight and confirmed it was fixed. The problem was not resolved as the vehicle continued losing oil. On March 3rd 2026 I discovered the engine was completely empty and added 6 full quarts of oil with no warning light appearing. I also contacted Hyundai consumer affairs and the Hyundai dealership directly who confirmed the manufacturer warranty had already expired at the time of purchase on December 16th 2024 and declined to cover the repair. The vehicle has not yet been formally inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representatives. The dealership serviced it on January 6th 2026 and claimed the leak was repaired however the engine seized on April 20th 2026 due to continued oil loss. There were zero warning lamps or indicators of any kind prior to the engine seizing completely on April 20th 2026. No low oil warning light appeared at any point during the 4 months I owned this vehicle despite the engine running completely out of oil on three separate occasions. The only symptom prior to full engine seizure was the vehicle sputtering when coming to a stop on April 19th 2026, one day before the engine seized completely.

Sunroof completely shattered while driving. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request. Due to the glass spontaneously shattering while driving, all occupants in the vehicle were at risk of injury.
