1 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/20/2026

The engine oil system failed due to a persistent oil leak that was present from the time of purchase on December 16th 2024. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and is currently immobile due to a completely seized engine. My safety was put at serious risk because the vehicle has no functioning low oil warning indicator to alert the driver of critically low oil levels. I was driving this vehicle regularly for work with no indication whatsoever that the engine was losing oil. A seized engine can cause sudden and complete loss of vehicle control which puts not only the driver but other drivers and pedestrians at risk. This failure occurred without any warning while the vehicle was in regular use. The oil leak was brought to the selling dealership, auto merchants inc. In plano texas, for repair on January 6th 2026. They kept the vehicle overnight and confirmed it was fixed. The problem was not resolved as the vehicle continued losing oil. On March 3rd 2026 I discovered the engine was completely empty and added 6 full quarts of oil with no warning light appearing. I also contacted Hyundai consumer affairs and the Hyundai dealership directly who confirmed the manufacturer warranty had already expired at the time of purchase on December 16th 2024 and declined to cover the repair. The vehicle has not yet been formally inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representatives. The dealership serviced it on January 6th 2026 and claimed the leak was repaired however the engine seized on April 20th 2026 due to continued oil loss. There were zero warning lamps or indicators of any kind prior to the engine seizing completely on April 20th 2026. No low oil warning light appeared at any point during the 4 months I owned this vehicle despite the engine running completely out of oil on three separate occasions. The only symptom prior to full engine seizure was the vehicle sputtering when coming to a stop on April 19th 2026, one day before the engine seized completely.

3 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/03/2026

While vacationing in myrtle beach with my family the vehicle alarmed and then progressed to critical failure of safety functions while traveling at approximately 55mph on Friday April 3, 2026. The vehicle was brought to myrtle beach Hyundai where it was eventually diagnosed and repaired as an alternator issue that I have found to be common with this specific vehicle. The issues I have experienced with this vehicle go far beyond a typical mechanical concern. Over time, the vehicle has exhibited repeated electrical system malfunctions, including: - false blind spot collision warnings when no vehicles are present - intermittent failure of the crash avoidance system - loss of cruise control functionality tied to system faults - a broader electrical failure event that triggered multiple warning systems simultaneously most concerning, these failures have occurred while the vehicle was in motion, creating an unpredictable and potentially hazardous driving condition. The loss and unreliability of critical driver-assist and safety systems directly impacts driver awareness and vehicle control, which raises serious safety concerns. Despite multiple attempts to have this diagnosed through the dealership network while under warranty, no definitive root cause was identified, and the issue has persisted. This suggests the possibility of a systemic electrical defect rather than an isolated component failure. Additionally, I have found that similar complaints involving electrical system irregularities and cascading warning system failures have been reported by other owners of this model, further supporting the concern that this may represent a known or emerging defect pattern. Given these factors, I do not believe this situation should be categorized as routine. Instead, it warrants review under the lens - vehicle safety risk - potential defect trend - failure of critical driver-assistance systems during operation this vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/01/2026

When I push on the brake the car starts to tug. Feels like it wants to turn off. Happened several times after I got a recall checked. 2 weeks ago same thing was happening and my car all of a sudden turns off. The lights on the dashboard turned on and the emergency brake engaged. I was able to turn the car back in after 3 tries. 6 days later I was driving 50mph and my car suddenly changes shifts on its own. It changed to neutral and then my car shuts off and again the dashboard lights turn on and the emergency brake engages. Again turned on after 3 times. Now the dealership is telling me that its my injectors. And that I had 10% fluid in my gas tank. That will not cause my car to shift gears and 10% is an excessive amount that would mess my car up.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/31/2026

A week or so after taking the car in for an oil change, I was on the highway and heard a rattling sound coming from the engine. There were no indicator or warning lights from the dashboard. The car then stopped accelerating. It was on, and the accelerator increased the rpms but the car did not move faster. I safely got home and checked the oil and it had less than a quart. There were no low-oil indicator lights telling me the oil was low. Separately, this week, while driving in the city, the engine again started making rattling sounds and completely shut off forcing me to pull off the road. Again, prior to the shut off there were no indicator lights. I was able to pull to the side of the road safely. I tried to restart the car and it would idle roughly befor the engine shut off again. After waiting 30 minutes, I checked the oil to see if the previous cause was the culprit, but this time the oil was still full. After 45 minutes, I was able to restart the car and drive home. I researched the issue and there are many complaints on reddit about this for this make and model. Since the issue is intermittent and can't be replicated at the dealership, there is no fix offered. I no longer trust or feel safe driving this car, especially on highways.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/25/2026

While the vehicle was off and in my garage, the vehicle started on its own and was idling at an extremely high rpm. I was the only person home, the keys were out of reach on a key rack and had not been driven yet for the day. I walked into the garage and found my vehicles engine running at a high rpm and all the electrical displays within the vehicle were compleltely off with only the engine running. I retrieved my keys and my only thought was to start the car, which I did which then brought the rpm down to standard idle. I am extremely concerned as a vehicle idling in an eclosed garage poses extremely high risk to carbon monoxide.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/23/2026

I am the owner of a 2026 Hyundai Palisade, purchased new less than 60 days ago. This vehicle is currently subject to a safety recall involving the 2nd and 3rd row power seat assemblies, which reportedly lack sufficient anti-pinch protection during certain seat adjustment functions, including automatic power-folding (stow) and the one-touch tilt-and-slide (“walk-in”) feature. We experienced this defect firsthand in our vehicle. During operation of the second-row seat adjustment feature, the seat continued moving without adequate resistance detection or automatic stop, indicating a failure of the anti-pinch protection system. This created a hazardous condition where an occupant could become trapped or injured by the moving seat mechanism. This issue is especially concerning because these seat functions are located in areas of the vehicle intended for passengers and children. We have an infant who will be occupying these seating areas, and this defect presents a direct safety risk. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have also become aware that this defect has been linked to multiple injuries and the death of a young child. Additionally, Hyundai has issued a stop-sale on affected vehicles, yet current owners are still expected to operate them without a confirmed repair available. At this time, no remedy has been completed on my vehicle, and I do not believe it is safe to operate given the nature of the defect and its location within the passenger seating area. I was told to ask the dealership for a loaner, which the dealership does not have. Additionally, Hyundai said they would cover $60/day in rental fees. A similarly-sized SUV in our area rents at $210/day - a payment discrepancy we cannot afford.

11 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/16/2026

2026 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy, VIN [xxx] , purchased March 6, 2026 with under 2,200 miles at time of incident. Safety incident: while operating under adaptive cruise control at highway speed, the vehicle experienced sudden unintended acceleration followed by severely delayed braking response. At least three trailing vehicles were forced into emergency evasive action to avoid a multi-vehicle collision. Family members were present. This event represents a direct and immediate threat to the safety of vehicle occupants and the public. The root cause has not been definitively identified or resolved. The authorized dealership confirmed can-bus resistance irregularities — 160 ohms versus the designed 120-ohm specification — governing acceleration, braking, and all driver assist systems. Prior symptoms included flickering interior lighting. An initial module replacement failed. Repair has escalated to full wiring harness replacement with no parts availability and no confirmed timeline. The safety event remains undiagnosed and unresolved. The vehicle carries three simultaneous active safety recalls — 293, 296, and 297 — all involving electrical and wiring systems on the calligraphy trim exclusively. None have permanent remedies. The vehicle has been in dealer custody since March 21, 2026 and is available for inspection. Hyundai motor America active case — no. Xxx. This vehicle is not safe to operate. 13 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/07/2026

1. The exact component that failed is unknown at this time. The fire appeared to originate in the driver-side front area of the engine compartment near the headlight. Prior to the fire the vehicle experienced engine shaking and a check engine light. The vehicle has been towed to a Hyundai dealership and is available for inspection by insurance investigators, the manufacturer, or safety investigators upon request. 2. The vehicle caught fire while it was being operated on a public roadway shortly after leaving our residence. Flames were visible from the engine compartment within minutes of driving. This created an immediate safety risk to the occupants of the vehicle and to other motorists because the fire occurred suddenly while the vehicle was in motion. 3. The problem has not been reproduced. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership following the fire incident and is awaiting inspection. The vehicle is a total loss. 4. The vehicle has been inspected by a tow operator and insurance representatives after the fire incident. The vehicle is currently located at a Hyundai dealership and may be inspected by the manufacturer or investigators if requested. 5. Yes. Prior to the fire the check engine warning light illuminated and the engine began shaking while the vehicle was being driven. Within moments of these symptoms a loud popping sound was heard from the front driver-side engine compartment area, followed by visible flames.

14 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/06/2026

While driving at normal speed, my 2022 Hyundai Palisade suddenly lost power without warning. Multiple warning icons appeared on the dashboard at the same time. The vehicle immediately slowed down and became unsafe to operate. After pulling over, the vehicle would not restart and had to be towed. This created a dangerous situation on the roadway. I am reporting this because I wonder if other owners may have experienced similar sudden power-loss events with this model year. It was fortunate that I was on a secondary road and not on the highway when this happened because it could have resulted in fatalities.

I had to manually intervene to release her. This created a dangerous situation with risk of serious injury or death. This vehicle is currently under recall for this exact issue, and I have personally experienced the defect.

16 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 02/27/2026

The sunroof failed to totally open or close after an initial engagement. Further inspection revealed the sunroof wind deflector frame slides and shoes were broken, and cables were loose and out of position. Keep in mind, the sunroof has been used only a handful of times. After doing some research and learning Palisades had a history of exploding sunroofs, I worried that continuing to drive the car in a compromised condition (even a covered film to keep wind and rain out) would trigger the sunroof to do the same, putting my grandchildren in danger. After taking it to the dealer and having them confirm a TSB issued by Hyundai to address this very issue, I also learned it would not be a covered expense. Repair would run $3,000, a hefty consumer expense for a recognized flaw and safety hazard by the manufacturer.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/30/2026

On Friday, 1/30/26, my daughter, granddaughter and grandson were heading out of town and tried to lower the 3rd row seat on the driver's side to put our luggage in the back. My [xxx] granddaughter was buckled in the second row seat. The 2nd row seat button was pushed. My granddaughter started screaming about the seat coming down on her. We kept trying to stop it, it finally stopped (we were lucky). I ran to my granddaughter and she was completely squashed in the seat and could not get out. She is tiny, roughly 40 lbs, the opening was roughly 6" to 8". It was not easy but I was able to pull her out. We did not touch the button or try to move the seat until I arrived back home on Saturday night, 1/31/26. My husband pushed the button and was able to place the 2nd row seat back into place. This was really scarry and with all the sensors the Palisade has, I am not sure how this happened. Prior to purchasing this car, we did our research on the safety and reliability of 2026 SUV's. What is the length of time Hyundai has to recall and repair? this is really a liability to everyone. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

21 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/29/2026

I have the video but I am unsure how to upload or share incident description: the vehicle is experiencing intermittent, complete engine stalls while in motion at highway speeds. The failure has occurred four times. Initial symptom: the issue first manifested as "stuttering" and erratic behavior from the advanced driver assistance systems (adas) which I thought it was. Escalation: the vehicle has since progressed to a total loss of power. During these incidents, I was forced to pull over on high-speed corridors (hwy 46 and hwy 5) to restart the vehicle. Recurring pattern: most recently, after a stall and restart, the vehicle stalled again within a few blocks. I have captured video evidence of the stall occurring immediately after the vehicle was "reset" and put back into motion. Safety concern: this is a life-threatening defect. The vehicle loses propulsion without warning in high-speed traffic. The manufacturer’s service department (Hyundai) has been unable to identify a diagnostic fault code, citing "no problem found," and has only attempted a software/values reset, which has failed to correct the physical stalling.

22 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/25/2026

Purchased a brand new car at gerald north aurora on 12/31 with 400 miles and on 01/25 car wont start with 717 miles and I had to register a road side assistance for jump start and after service center visit they replaced with a brand new battery. And same thing happened on 02/16 at 942 miles after inspection they said battery drained and they had to charge it. There is an issue with my car and I need it replaced with as it is a new car.

23 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/24/2026

Sub-freezing temperatures caused car not be able to start. The battery in this vehicle is less than 3 years old as it was purchased in October of 2023. It displayed a "check esc" message, flashed all the lights and I could not hear the engine crank / turn over at all.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/21/2026

Along with the two recalls of which I have not been contacted by Hyundai or provided any form of remedy, this is highly concerning and makes me feel extremely unsafe driving my vehicle, especially with the fact that I have small children and teenagers. My car had an issue from inception that I’ve let the dealer know about that. They still have not fixed including the fact that well I’ll be driving on certain roads are on the highway. It’ll come up with a warning telling me that I’m going the wrong way and try to engage the automatic breaking system. In addition, the second row seatbelt has been stuck and it won’t go back in. The third row seats often times try to disengage and come down. Anytime I hit a small bump or go over a speed bump even very slow. My bluetooth goes off-line as well as the navigation and then it comes back online within 3 to 5 minutes. Carr seems to have had a number of odd issues, including the way the engine has sounded as well as the electrical system is not engaging properly. I feel highly unsafe continuing to drive this vehicle and until all recalls and full proper analysis is conducted to remedy these issues I would want either a full refund of the cash value that I purchased my vehicle for, a brand new vehicle at no additional charge, or a loaner vehicle until all of these issues are remedied, and then a full analysis to ensure that it meets the standards. My preference would be to get a full refund of the cash value in which I purchased my vehicle for so I can get something else that is more safe for my family.

25 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/18/2026

The vehicle engine shuts off out of nowhere, unable to change/switch between gears for 2-3 minutes after stopping at a red light, stop sign, or during heavy traffic, with no activation of the idle-stop-system before the incident. During the incident, the vehicle's steering was not able to turn. I have to keep my foot on the brake pedal for a while. After the second incident, I managed to drive the vehicle carefully and slowly to the dealership, but I was told there was no problem with the vehicle. So, I requested to take a drive with a mechanic, and the engine shut off in the middle of the street while slowing down for the third time. The dashboard reads "auto stop is off. " shift to p or n and start engine manually. Vehicle still at the dealership for 5 days.

26 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/12/2026

On January 12, 2026, the vehicle shut off twice during the same trip while driving in traffic. All dashboard warning lights illuminated, the tachometer spiked, rpm readings did not correspond, the gear selector became unresponsive, and the vehicle lost propulsion while in motion. On February 15, 2026, the vehicle shut off again while driving under similar conditions. The vehicle was taken to a Hyundai dealership for diagnosis. The battery failed a load test and was replaced. According to the repair order narrative, after the battery replacement, the stall condition recurred during dealership testing. Multiple extended road tests and datalogging were later performed. The dealership has stated they are unable to re-replicate the condition and that no active diagnostic codes are present. The vehicle has experienced multiple loss-of-power events while in motion. An intermittent stall while driving presents a significant safety hazard, particularly in traffic conditions. The root cause has not been definitively identified.

27 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/10/2026

My wife was driving the vehicle and the dash lit up like a christmas tree. Every fault and every light came on including the steering tightened up like there was no power steering. Dealership has had the vehicle for almost a week and haven't heard anything. This is a brand new vehicle. Never have bought a Hyundai before, very disappointed!.

28 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/09/2026

I am reporting a recurring, life-threatening electronic failure in my 2023 Hyundai Palisade. On [xxx], while turning into an intersection, the vehicle's brakes spontaneously engaged, stalling the car in the path of oncoming traffic. During this event, multiple critical safety systems failed simultaneously, including the headlights and horn, leaving me unable to warn other drivers. A "violent" surge was required to clear the intersection, risking a high-speed collision. Similar spontaneous recurrences occurred on [xxx] and [xxx], and most recently on [xxx]. These incidents are characterized by "phantom braking," total loss of propulsion, and a complete lack of interior/exterior electronic response. Technical evidence: diagnostic scans revealed 16 distinct fault codes (including c161608, c181287, and u012687) involving the chassis control module, electronic control unit (ecu), and communication buses. Despite these logged codes, Hyundai and the dealership have repeatedly returned the vehicle to me, stating they "cannot replicate" the issue, thereby dismissing a documented electronic record of failure. Arbitration status: I entered into bbb auto line arbitration (case #[xxx]). Hyundai has contested the claim by attempting to manipulate the "start date" of the defect to February 2024 to avoid lemon law statutes, despite dealer records confirming the first occurrence in August 2023. As of January 13, 2026, the dealership is again attempting to force me to take delivery of the unrepaired vehicle. This vehicle is a "phantom" safety hazard. The manufacturer’s inability to replicate a logged electronic fault during a brief test drive does not mitigate the extreme risk of sudden braking and power loss at highway speeds. I am requesting a formal investigation into these specific fault codes and the electronic integrity of this model. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

33 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 12/26/2025

The first incident, my SUV failed to start, per roadside assistance, I replaced the battery. No diagnostic testing done. On 12/26/25 my SUV stopped cold while driving. Red battery light and other warning indicators on dashboard lit up. Radio went dead; loss of steering assist; loss of vehicle power; dashboard went black and SUV shut down. It would not start again. Towed to Hyundai for diagnostic test. I leave my home at 4:30 a. M. Every morning driving 30 miles on the beltway to work. Imagine the danger, stopping cold on the beltway, in the dark alone with no power for emergency lights to warn approaching traffic of the danger. I travel with my family in my SUV on the beltway daily. I no longer trust this vehicle, and I’ve requested to be reimbursed; my vehicle is my livelihood and it’s my life and the lives of my family each day that I get into this SUV. SUV is paid off. Rockville Hyundai’s finding was a faulty alternator and battery. The original battery was in the SUV with the first incident, still I’m terrified to drive this SUV. I researched possible causes for my SUV performing in this manner and my research yielded, and I quote:  “electronic troubles with the 2022 Palisade calligraphy often involve dashboard warning lights, driver-assist malfunctions, instrument cluster failures, and even engine shutdowns, frequently linked to issues like a faulty alternator, low battery voltage, or problems with the instrument cluster itself (recalls), with some owners reporting dangerous situations like loss of steering assist or vehicle power loss on the highway. ” on 1/6/26 on the beltway, the battery light and other warning indicators lit up; radio went dead, all warning indicators on the dashboard lit up; experienced loss of steering assist; and the dashboard went black instantly. I reached home, and parked; lights on the dashboard came back on, and I turned the engine off. On 1/7/26 I drove to Hyundai for another diagnostic test. 1/21/26 SUV still in service.
