I do not understand how Hyundai can approve its required testing process, have the vehicle fail that test, and then deny the engine replacement resulting from those findings. This is unfair and raises serious concerns about how Hyundai is applying its warranty procedures. Hyundai’s published oil-consumption procedures establish a process for diagnosing excessive oil consumption and determining when further repairs, including engine replacement, may be warranted. I am requesting that Hyundai explain exactly what requirement my vehicle allegedly failed to meet and provide documentation supporting the denial. I am requesting that Hyundai reverse the denial and fully cover the necessary engine replacement under warranty. I also request a complete review of my maintenance history, repair records, oil-consumption test results, diagnostics, and the dealership’s submission. This vehicle has been properly maintained and has only approximately 80,000 miles. I purchased it expecting a reliable vehicle that would last many years. An engine developing excessive oil consumption at this mileage is unacceptable, and I believe Hyundai should stand behind its product and warranty obligations.

At 16 thousand plus my car was at a stop light and stop/stalled/shut down what ever you want to call it. The auto stop was on but this was not the problem. I physically had to restart my car in traffic. The next time I experience this was at 20 thousand plus. We were in the hospital parking garage and the car again stop/stalled/shut down and I physically had to restart it again. This time I was driving with the auto stop off. I have experience this again at 21 thousand plus. Again I was at a stop light. The auto stop was off. The car stall/stop/completely shut down again. Car had to be restarted while again in traffic. Hyundai had been notified of the stall/stops. This was the last time I was dealing with this problem and took it into happy Hyundai in libertyville illinois. They had it for a week. They did run test, but the car was not giving any codes. Happy Hyundai did not run it over the weekend for on my bluelink I get notification. On Monday my husband called and told them to drive it because this is when we are experiencing the problem. Happy Hyundai drove it once. Tech was not able to replicate it. My husband also took happy Hyundai to let it run. They let the car run. This is what happen when we were in the hospital parking lot. We were sitting. The safety of the person driving the car is at risk for a accident. There have been reports on they Hyundai facebook web sites of the car stalling while driving at speed. I carry my handicapped daughter in my car. This stall/stop becomes a worry some problem, not knowing when it is going to shut off again. This has caused me much anxiety. I don't even want to drive my car. This is a accident waiting to happen. Along with many law suite's. No dash board cluster lights were on when the car stall/stop. Car has been inspected by happy Hyundai and is now going back per Hyundai coporate wanting a tech to pull codes.

In the past two weeks, our 2021 Hyundai Palisade has shut off completely when driving. It has around 110,000 miles on it and was just purchased used (second owner) three months ago. At that time, the dealership had to fix a leak in the engine and did a complete oil change. Based on internet searches, we just checked the oil dipstick and it is completely empty. We have not driven more than 3,000 miles since purchasing the vehicle and there is absolutely no oil left. Based on searches, it appears this is a fairly common, known issue and nothing is being done. It is incredibly dangerous that the car shut down while driving (on the highway, in the middle of a right-hand turn). Every single warning light lit up at once then the car completely shut off within a matter of seconds. Thankfully my husband was able to get to the side of the road and no accidents occurred, but this is terrifying and completely unacceptable. The car is going to be towed to the dealership to check for excessive oil consumption, but again, based on research, it appears that this is a known issue but Hyundai says it is "within acceptable limits. " please do something about this before someone is seriously injured or killed.

On August 14, 2026, while driving and decelerating, I heard a knocking sound from the engine and the vehicle had difficulty downshifting. As the transmission shifted from second gear to first, the engine stalled immediately and the vehicle dropped into neutral while on the roadway. I lost propulsion in traffic. The vehicle behind me nearly rear-ended us due to the sudden stall. My children were in the vehicle. All dashboard warning lights illuminated at the moment of the stall. I was able to restart the engine and move the vehicle slowly, in first gear only, into a nearby parking lot. The check engine light came on at that restart and has remained on since. The vehicle sat parked and off for approximately 90 minutes. Before restarting, I checked the engine oil level and it was within the normal range. On startup, my children and I both heard a loud knocking sound and noticed an unusual smell, and the engine idled roughly while in park. I drove approximately 15 minutes home with the rough idle continuing. On arrival the vehicle smelled hot, with a burning odor, although the temperature gauge read approximately mid-scale and was not in the high range. The check engine light remained on and the oil level was again confirmed to be within range. The vehicle has been out of service since the incident and is currently at a dealership awaiting diagnosis. This is a 2020 Hyundai Palisade with approximately 93,000 miles at the time of failure. A sudden loss of motive power in a travel lane is a safety defect.

Vehicle: 2022 Hyundai Palisade, approximately 78,000 miles. The vehicle has experienced a recurring engine/powertrain malfunction involving engine stalling, hesitation/rough operation, startup rattling, cylinder air/fuel imbalance, and misfires. The exact failed component is currently unknown. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle has stalled at low speeds, creating a safety concern because the engine can unexpectedly shut off or lose power while the vehicle is being operated in traffic. Unexpected stalling could leave the vehicle without normal acceleration when entering or crossing traffic and creates a risk of a collision involving the occupants or other motorists. The vehicle has been evaluated and serviced by a Hyundai dealership for engine-related concerns. Diagnostic trouble codes associated with these problems have included p000c, p219d, p219f, p21a0, and p0302. Of particular concern, p219d, indicating a cylinder 2 air/fuel ratio imbalance, has occurred repeatedly, and the vehicle subsequently generated p0302, indicating a cylinder 2 misfire. This suggests a recurring problem involving the same cylinder, although the underlying cause remains unknown. Previous repair efforts have included work involving the vehicle's vvt system, but the engine-related problems and diagnostic codes have continued/recurred. The vehicle/component has been inspected by a Hyundai dealership. To my knowledge, it has not been separately inspected by police, insurance representatives, or NHTSA. Whether Hyundai corporate/manufacturer representatives have directly inspected the vehicle is unknown. I had an oil change in Feb 2026 at 64000 miles. In June, I was driving the car and suddenly the car started jolting while I was idle and would turn off completely when I was stopped. This happened to me while driving on the freeway in traffic and also at a traffic light. I immediately went to the dealership and was told my car had no oil in it. Since the oil change I drove about 5900 miles. I was told there were no leaks so the issue was either the engine or that when I had the oil changed that they forgot to put the oil in. They advised to get an oil test. I drove 1000 miles and took the car back in today 8/11. I had the oil tested and I burned . 4 quarts in the 1000 miles which was under the standards of 1 quart per 1000 miles in order to get the issue fixed. I was told that I needed to check my oil and add oil to the car when needed. I left the dealership confused because I have had this car for over a year and never had an issue with the oil or oil levels. I never had any oil indicator on my dashboard to alert me of any issue. I called back the advisor asking more questions because I did not understand how my car burned through so much oil that it was malfunctioning. After being talked to like an idiot about how it is my responsibility to make sure my car has oil, I was finally told that this Palisade has a known issue for premature oil consumption once it hits 60000 miles. Then I was told there is no recall and the issue will only get worse and I have to wait till it hits 1 quart of oil burned in 1000 miles for anything to be done. I feel like this is extremely irresponsible of the company to know this issue exists with nothing being done or communicated to their customers and that it is a huge safety concern to not have any indication there is something wrong with the oil amount and my car could literally stop in the middle of the freeway. They are waiting to make the issue neglect from the customer so they are not held responsible for their vehicle's issue.

While driving the vehicle, the accelerator pedal was pressed but the vehicle failed to respond and did not accelerate, it simply rolled slowly as the engine continued to idle. The driver increased throttle input in an attempt to get the vehicle to accelerate. The vehicle continued to show no response to the additional throttle. After a delay, the vehicle suddenly resumed normal operation while the higher throttle input was still applied. This resulted in an abrupt and undesired surge of power. While this was occurring, another vehicle was rolling forward in preparation for a left turn. The other driver appeared confused by the Palisade’s lack of acceleration (apparently believing it was yielding) and had not yet turned into the path of the Palisade. The sudden surge of power created a near-miss situation. This incident involved a delayed response to throttle input followed by a sudden surge of power under increased throttle when the vehicle resumed normal operation. The behavior created a safety risk by causing another driver to misjudge the vehicle’s intentions and by producing unexpected lack of acceleration followed by acceleration at a critical moment. This is consistent with ongoing intermittent throttle and power-response issues that have previously been reported to the selling dealer on multiple occasions.

This vehicle has suffered two identical, catastrophic electrical failures causing an immediate and total loss of engine power while traveling at highway speeds. The first incident occurred after the engine was replaced under a Hyundai extended warranty. The dealership service department blamed that failure on a loose engine ground strap and released the vehicle back to me. On August 3, 2026, the exact same failure occurred for a second time while driving at high speed on the highway. The vehicle lost all propulsion, leaving me exposed to oncoming traffic with zero engine power. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership. On or about July 23 2026 I brought my vehicle into the dealership as my 2020 Hyundai Palisade suffered a severe, sudden engine malfunction while driving at highway speeds. The vehicle began shaking violently, losing power, and making loud mechanical noises forcing me to navigate dangerous highway traffic to get it to the dealership. Prior to the failure, in March of 2026, the vehicle was brought into an authorized dealership as the vehicle would not drive properly, very slow acceleration and the vehicle feeling like it was stalling causing a danger to the road. . The dealership performed an inspection on the vehicle and diagnosed "carbon buildup due to mileage and age," they performed an authorized emissions software update, changed the oil, and performed a paid fuel injection cleaning. The dealership did not issue a safety warning or advise against driving the vehicle long distance back to new york. A few months after this service, the vehicle suffered total engine failure. Professional teardown of the Hyundai lambbda ll v6 engine show that unresolved carbon buildup and software defects lead to piston ring failure, severe misfires, oil starvation, and sudden loss not motive power. Operating a vehicle experiencing severe mechanical shaking and power loss at highway speeds poses an immediate risk of an accident.

My wife was driving the vehicle to work this morning xxx around 730am on the [xxx] near [xxx] and the vehicle just cut off while driving at high speed. All the lights were activated on the dashboard. The steering wheel locked, the brakes stopped working, and the car would not accelerate. The vehicle died mid drive placing her in a dangerous life threatening predicament within this heavily trucked corridor. She was left to block traffic until help arrived. After the "9c9" emissions recall update the vehicle randomly fails to respond to appropriately throttle input when attempting to accelerate into traffic. The issue is very intermittent - it may occur twice in 10 minutes or drive fine for hours. It has demonstrated both a "bucking" / stuttering / misfire feeling as well as a complete lack of any throttle response. After a few seconds of bucking, the vehicle returns to normal and accelerates smoothly with no change in throttle input. If the throttle failed to respond, pumping the pedal a few times has resumed normal operation. Situation has occurred multiple times since the update and has allowed the vehicle to roll into traffic without the ability to promptly accelerate to speed creating a safety hazard. There are no warning lights, and the dealership is unable to reproduce the issue.

When attempting to use engine braking to control descent on mountain roads, the vehicle failed to slow. Engine rpms increased and speed increased requiring significant brake usage. Last year the vehicle performed as expected as deceleration was controlled via downshifting with much less brake usage. The only change was the application earlier this year of Hyundai service campaign 9c9.

The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Alternator failure: my family and I were moving to [xxx] from [xxx]. A few hours into the drive, the vehicle battery light came on. It was intermittent though. It would be on for a little while 10-15 mins and then shut off and then repeat this process. I stopped at an autozone and they tested the battery and it was showing a charge of 7%. I could not afford to get stranded somewhere so I went ahead and had the battery replaced, even though I suspected the alternator was going bad. We continued on the trip, but the battery light continued to turn on and off. The vehicle ultimately began losing power about 2 hours after replacing the battery, causing all the warning lights on the dash to turn on, the main center console display lost power and then I lost power steering. All of this happened while I was on the interstate, putting myself and my family in serious danger. I was able to pull the car off an off ramp and park it safely. I called a tow service to take it to the nearest Hyundai. The dealership verified the alternator was bad, but later found that the tensioner assembly had also failed and would have caused serious damage if they had not caught it. The vehicle has since been repaired under warranty, but I researched and found this is a common failed item. The vehicle only has 33,253 miles on it, and is barely 2 years old. I am reporting a potential safety defect involving my 2021 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy awd. The vehicle has experienced repeated engine and drivability problems and multiple breakdowns following replacement of the engine by Hyundai. The original engine developed excessive oil consumption and was ultimately replaced by Hyundai with a new engine. Following the engine replacement, the vehicle experienced numerous additional mechanical problems and repair attempts, including engine rattling/pinging, intake-manifold replacement, oil valve-seal replacement, multiple cylinder misfires, ignition-system problems and an ignition-coil failure. Most concerning are repeated incidents involving severe shaking/lurching, loss of engine power, stalling and failure to restart. During one incident following repairs, the vehicle ran extremely rough, stalled and would not restart after approximately 20 miles of driving and had to be towed back to the dealership. During another incident, the vehicle experienced heavy shaking on startup, stalled and had severely limited power. Diagnostic history showed misfires involving multiple cylinders. On June 29, 2026, at approximately 103,671 miles, I was driving at approximately 50 mph when the vehicle began to lurch and shake, lost power, stalled and would not restart. The vehicle had to be towed back to the Hyundai dealership. The unexpected loss of propulsion and stalling while traveling at approximately 50 mph created a serious safety concern because I could no longer rely upon the vehicle to maintain power in traffic. The dealership subsequently identified an ignition-coil short/failure and replaced an ignition coil. The vehicle has nevertheless continued to experience additional mechanical problems. The vehicle is currently again at the Hyundai dealership. It has generated diagnostic code p0430 for bank 2 catalyst efficiency below threshold, and Hyundai has recommended replacement of both catalytic converter/manifold assemblies. Th.

The contact owned a 2025 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving 25-30 mph on a curvy road, the steering wheel suddenly locked up, and the vehicle failed to drive in the intended direction, drove down the street, into a yard, and the front end of the vehicle crashed into a tree. The brake pedal was depressed prior to the crash, but the vehicle failed to respond as intended. The air bags deployed during the crash. After the vehicle had crashed into the tree, a bystander yelled that the vehicle was on fire. The contact was able to exit the vehicle. The contact stated that the fire started under the hood, near the engine compartment. The vehicle made exploding sounds three times while the 4 ft. Tall fire progressed towards the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that the entire vehicle burned with the exception of the rear exterior lights and the rear passenger's side tire. The fire was extinguished by the fire department, and a report was filed. A police report was filed. There was no property damage. The contact was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The contact sustained chest pains, bruises on the chest cavity, several contusions and bruises, and difficulty breathing. The contact was undergoing breathing therapy. The vehicle was towed and deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

My properly maintained 2020 Hyundai Palisade suffered catastrophic engine failure at 77,000 miles. Importantly, prior to the engine failure, no check engine lights, low oil warnings, or other warning indicators were active or displayed. The vehicle gave no indication of an imminent catastrophic engine failure or lack of oil. Hyundai has repeatedly refused my requests for assistance in repairing this known issue due to my being a second owner with a lesser warranty that is given to 1st owners. This issue is a safety concern and a known issue to hca and should be a recall to insure it stops happening.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? rear exhaust system how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? fire hazard as it was similar to a blowtorch, melted several rear panels, lights and trim while driving. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? the dealership (elyria Hyundai) requested a PA from Hyundai and it was authorized, but am having a very difficult time getting reimbursed. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I am not sure what the dealership did with the exhaust. At one point, I had requested to keep it for evidence. There are pictures. I suggested having the manufacturer look at it or at least Hyundai. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? there were no warnings. After a 2. 5 hr trip, we got out; my children noticed the trim sticking out and melted off the rear right bumper. It was extremely hot to touch and the panels were bulging out from their normal position.

I was driving my 2026 Hyundai Palisade on a busy road when the vehicle suddenly stopped without warning. A message appeared on the dashboard stating that the engine was off. I did not turn off the vehicle. This created a dangerous situation in traffic.

The vehicle has been serviced repeatedly by Hyundai for this issue, and they are trying to tell us that it is normal for oil to completely burn out in between oil changes.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

My 2022 Hyundai Palisade recently blew the engine due to very little oil (6 quarts). My wife stated that she was driving when it started to act weird. Very shortly after that she heard the vehicle making a loud knocking / banging sound. She stopped the vehicle and turned it off in the nearest parking lot. We had the vehicle towed to our certified mechanic to have it looked at. 6 quarts of oil was put into the engine before it was full. Both him and my wife stated the vehicle never showed a check engine light, low oil light or oil pressure problems. He stated the vehicle had no leaks. He advised us that Hyundai/kia was having problems burning oil. This is a high risk and safety concerns since there was no warning, happened suddenly and could cause problems for people to find a safe place to pull off the roadway and interstate. So many things can happen if someone didn't hear the noise or have lights indicating a problem, therefor if this happened on the interstate people could struggle getting to the shoulder when engine locks up. Also, a piston or connecting rod can be ejected from an engine risking the safety of pedestrians on foot or driving down the road.

Purchased a vehicle that has experienced ongoing mechanical and safety-related defects, including excessive oil consumption, seat belt malfunctions, and unresolved injector recall issues. Despite multiple repair attempts by the dealership, the problems continue to persist and have not been permanently corrected. These defects substantially affect the vehicle’s safety, reliability, value, and everyday use. The dealership and manufacturer represented the vehicle as reliable and safe; however, the repeated failures and unresolved recalls suggest otherwise. I believe it is misleading to continue selling or servicing vehicles with known defects that cannot be properly repaired. I have also learned that certain model years are no longer sold due to widespread malfunctioning issues that are costly for consumers to repair, yet I was not informed of these concerns at the time of purchase. I have made several attempts to resolve this matter by bringing the vehicle to the dealership for repairs, reporting the recurring issues, and complying with recommended service appointments. Despite these efforts, the defects remain unresolved, causing financial hardship, inconvenience, and concerns for my safety.

Driving down road in early afternoon at about 35 mph. Car began to run rough (jutter) then almost immediately stalled. The car’s engine icon appeared on the screen along with verbiage indicating service engine soon. After about 3-5 minutes, I started the car and drove it directly into a parking lot approximately 100 feet from where the car stalled. I had the car towed to a repair shop in town. The following day the service adviser called after doing diagnostics and indicated the car had no oil (it was approximately 3,400 miles since my last oil change). The technician explained there were some minute cracks in the oil filter cap but nothing that would warrant such a large loss of oil. An oil change was done, the oil filter cap was replaced with an aftermarket cap, and the car was returned to me. I have contacted the service department of the Hyundai dealership where the car was purchased and am awaiting a call back.

While driving on a high-speed interstate with two children in the vehicle, and without any prior warning signs or issues, the dashboard began displaying sequential warnings from multiple advanced driver assistance systems (adas) sensors. As the vehicle continued cycling through numerous dashboard warnings, the power steering failed, making the vehicle difficult to control. Additional electronic systems also began malfunctioning, including the display screen, cameras, and safety sensors, while the driver attempted to safely maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. After reaching the shoulder, the driver powered the vehicle off in an attempt to reset the electrical systems. However, once powered down, the engine would no longer start. When the tow truck arrived, the technician was required to jump-start the battery in order to shift the vehicle into neutral for towing. The technician also showed the driver a low-voltage reading on the jump-start device, indicating a possible alternator or charging-system failure. Hyundai dealership representatives later stated that diagnostic testing of the alternator and electrical system showed no faults and informed the customers that the battery was simply dead. After the dealership replaced the battery, the customers drove the vehicle approximately 15 miles to their residence. During that drive, the vehicle again began displaying the same sequence of sensor and system failures. The power steering failed a second time, and the same electrical malfunctions experienced during the initial incident were repeated.

The engine shuts off to accessory mode when the car is parked or idle for more than 1 minute or so, and the “engine auto” is turned off (light illuminated)— this is our observed correlation. To clarify, the engine auto is automatically turned on when the car starts— the engine will automatically turn off for a short period of time and restart on its own. When the “engine auto” button is illuminated, and this issue occurs, the engine does not restart on its own, the cluster lights illuminate, air conditioner stops and the car must be restarted (foot on brake and push engine start button) to resume driving. This can happen several times in one day and often takes place if the vehicle is parked or idle— while in highway traffic, at a traffic light or stop sign included. My safety and the safety of my children and other passengers is at risk each time this takes place. We have impeded the flow of traffic on several occasions. Just today, 8/30/26 the auto start light in the cluster blinked 7 or 8 times when the engine turned back on automatically— this time, the engine auto button was not pressed (light was off).

The vehicles check engine light has come on. I have had it to the dealership several times. I spent a large amount of money to have the fuel injectors replaced. Not fixed. The dealership has told me they have had 3 others in with the same problem and haven’t been able to fix it. Now my vehicle is out of warranty so I have to pay for all the repairs. I have had to e vehicle stall 4 times now in traffic.

I recently purchased this vehicle, and shortly after, it began having serious powertrain issues. When I accelerate, the vehicle intermittently loses power and starts shaking violently. It feels like the engine or transmission is slipping or failing. The rpms surge and drop rapidly, and the vehicle hesitates, jerks, and sometimes briefly slows down before suddenly accelerating again. This creates an unsafe and unpredictable driving condition, especially when merging or driving in traffic. I’m concerned about a loss of propulsion while the vehicle is in motion. My mechanic indicated the issue may involve the torque converter clutch not engaging properly (possible “stuck off” or circuit performance issue), which would explain the shuddering and inconsistent power transfer. Despite how severe this is, there are no warning lights or check engine light, and no diagnostic codes, which raises concern that the failure is not being detected by the vehicle’s onboard systems. I am also experiencing low and fluctuating engine oil levels even after topping it off and a recent oil change, which may indicate an additional engine-related defect. The vehicle has a clean title and no accident history. - failed system: powertrain (engine/transmission), suspected torque converter clutch malfunction. Vehicle is available for inspection. - safety risk: intermittent loss of power, hesitation, and surging creates a high risk of collision, especially in traffic or at highway speeds. - confirmation: my independent mechanic has identified as likely a torque converter related issue. - inspection status: not yet inspected by manufacturer or insurance. - warnings/symptoms: no warning lights or codes. Symptoms began shortly after I purchased and have worsened over time.

Excessive oil consumption - Hyundai is refusing to issue a recall even tho there was a class action lawsuit.

The engine oil system failed due to a persistent oil leak that was present from the time of purchase on December 16th 2024. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and is currently immobile due to a completely seized engine. My safety was put at serious risk because the vehicle has no functioning low oil warning indicator to alert the driver of critically low oil levels. I was driving this vehicle regularly for work with no indication whatsoever that the engine was losing oil. A seized engine can cause sudden and complete loss of vehicle control which puts not only the driver but other drivers and pedestrians at risk. This failure occurred without any warning while the vehicle was in regular use. The oil leak was brought to the selling dealership, auto merchants inc. In plano texas, for repair on January 6th 2026. They kept the vehicle overnight and confirmed it was fixed. The problem was not resolved as the vehicle continued losing oil. On March 3rd 2026 I discovered the engine was completely empty and added 6 full quarts of oil with no warning light appearing. I also contacted Hyundai consumer affairs and the Hyundai dealership directly who confirmed the manufacturer warranty had already expired at the time of purchase on December 16th 2024 and declined to cover the repair. The vehicle has not yet been formally inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representatives. The dealership serviced it on January 6th 2026 and claimed the leak was repaired however the engine seized on April 20th 2026 due to continued oil loss. There were zero warning lamps or indicators of any kind prior to the engine seizing completely on April 20th 2026. No low oil warning light appeared at any point during the 4 months I owned this vehicle despite the engine running completely out of oil on three separate occasions. The only symptom prior to full engine seizure was the vehicle sputtering when coming to a stop on April 19th 2026, one day before the engine seized completely.

Component: engine my 2020 Hyundai Palisade (approximately 155,856 miles) experienced a serious and dangerous engine-related failure that resulted in a vehicle fire. My 16 year old daughter was driving alone at the time of the catastrophic failure and fire. For approximately six months prior to the incident, the vehicle was consuming oil at an abnormal rate with no visible external leaks. This condition persisted without clear cause. While driving, the vehicle suddenly developed a new oil leak, and the engine failed without warning, leaving me stranded on the roadway. Immediately following the failure, the engine compartment caught fire. There were no prior indications of an active oil leak before this sudden failure. The progression from oil consumption to catastrophic failure and fire presents a serious safety concern. This incident created a dangerous situation with risk of injury or worse, and it appears to be more than normal wear and tear. I am reporting this as a potential safety defect involving engine failure and fire risk. Mileage at time of incident: approximately 155,856 miles no prior accident or external cause contributed to the fire.
