1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 06/07/2026

I was driving my 2026 Hyundai Palisade on a busy road when the vehicle suddenly stopped without warning. A message appeared on the dashboard stating that the engine was off. I did not turn off the vehicle. This created a dangerous situation in traffic.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 05/25/2026

The engine burns oil excessively and the oil light does not come on when the oil is low. Our car is right at 90k miles, it began to shudder and malfunction out of the blue while we were driving on the highway. There was absolutely no indication the oil was low. Now the car will not turn on at all. We were in between oil changes. The safety of myself and my family was put at risk because the engine blew with no warning. The vehicle has been serviced repeatedly by Hyundai for this issue, and they are trying to tell us that it is normal for oil to completely burn out in between oil changes.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 05/22/2026

My 2022 Hyundai Palisade recently blew the engine due to very little oil (6 quarts). My wife stated that she was driving when it started to act weird. Very shortly after that she heard the vehicle making a loud knocking / banging sound. She stopped the vehicle and turned it off in the nearest parking lot. We had the vehicle towed to our certified mechanic to have it looked at. 6 quarts of oil was put into the engine before it was full. Both him and my wife stated the vehicle never showed a check engine light, low oil light or oil pressure problems. He stated the vehicle had no leaks. He advised us that Hyundai/kia was having problems burning oil. This is a high risk and safety concerns since there was no warning, happened suddenly and could cause problems for people to find a safe place to pull off the roadway and interstate. So many things can happen if someone didn't hear the noise or have lights indicating a problem, therefor if this happened on the interstate people could struggle getting to the shoulder when engine locks up. Also, a piston or connecting rod can be ejected from an engine risking the safety of pedestrians on foot or driving down the road.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 05/21/2026

Purchased a vehicle that has experienced ongoing mechanical and safety-related defects, including excessive oil consumption, seat belt malfunctions, and unresolved injector recall issues. Despite multiple repair attempts by the dealership, the problems continue to persist and have not been permanently corrected. These defects substantially affect the vehicle’s safety, reliability, value, and everyday use. The dealership and manufacturer represented the vehicle as reliable and safe; however, the repeated failures and unresolved recalls suggest otherwise. I believe it is misleading to continue selling or servicing vehicles with known defects that cannot be properly repaired. I have also learned that certain model years are no longer sold due to widespread malfunctioning issues that are costly for consumers to repair, yet I was not informed of these concerns at the time of purchase. I have made several attempts to resolve this matter by bringing the vehicle to the dealership for repairs, reporting the recurring issues, and complying with recommended service appointments. Despite these efforts, the defects remain unresolved, causing financial hardship, inconvenience, and concerns for my safety.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 05/19/2026

Premature engine fail. Excessive oil consumption due to piston ring failure. Maintenance has been done on car on regular basis. No check engine light. Carson was services at dealership 4 months ago.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 05/14/2026

Driving down road in early afternoon at about 35 mph. Car began to run rough (jutter) then almost immediately stalled. The car’s engine icon appeared on the screen along with verbiage indicating service engine soon. After about 3-5 minutes, I started the car and drove it directly into a parking lot approximately 100 feet from where the car stalled. I had the car towed to a repair shop in town. The following day the service adviser called after doing diagnostics and indicated the car had no oil (it was approximately 3,400 miles since my last oil change). The technician explained there were some minute cracks in the oil filter cap but nothing that would warrant such a large loss of oil. An oil change was done, the oil filter cap was replaced with an aftermarket cap, and the car was returned to me. I have contacted the service department of the Hyundai dealership where the car was purchased and am awaiting a call back.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 05/09/2026

While driving on a high-speed interstate with two children in the vehicle, and without any prior warning signs or issues, the dashboard began displaying sequential warnings from multiple advanced driver assistance systems (adas) sensors. As the vehicle continued cycling through numerous dashboard warnings, the power steering failed, making the vehicle difficult to control. Additional electronic systems also began malfunctioning, including the display screen, cameras, and safety sensors, while the driver attempted to safely maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. After reaching the shoulder, the driver powered the vehicle off in an attempt to reset the electrical systems. However, once powered down, the engine would no longer start. When the tow truck arrived, the technician was required to jump-start the battery in order to shift the vehicle into neutral for towing. The technician also showed the driver a low-voltage reading on the jump-start device, indicating a possible alternator or charging-system failure. Hyundai dealership representatives later stated that diagnostic testing of the alternator and electrical system showed no faults and informed the customers that the battery was simply dead. After the dealership replaced the battery, the customers drove the vehicle approximately 15 miles to their residence. During that drive, the vehicle again began displaying the same sequence of sensor and system failures. The power steering failed a second time, and the same electrical malfunctions experienced during the initial incident were repeated.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/30/2026

The vehicles check engine light has come on. I have had it to the dealership several times. I spent a large amount of money to have the fuel injectors replaced. Not fixed. The dealership has told me they have had 3 others in with the same problem and haven’t been able to fix it. Now my vehicle is out of warranty so I have to pay for all the repairs. I have had to e vehicle stall 4 times now in traffic.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/29/2026

I recently purchased this vehicle, and shortly after, it began having serious powertrain issues. When I accelerate, the vehicle intermittently loses power and starts shaking violently. It feels like the engine or transmission is slipping or failing. The rpms surge and drop rapidly, and the vehicle hesitates, jerks, and sometimes briefly slows down before suddenly accelerating again. This creates an unsafe and unpredictable driving condition, especially when merging or driving in traffic. I’m concerned about a loss of propulsion while the vehicle is in motion. My mechanic indicated the issue may involve the torque converter clutch not engaging properly (possible “stuck off” or circuit performance issue), which would explain the shuddering and inconsistent power transfer. Despite how severe this is, there are no warning lights or check engine light, and no diagnostic codes, which raises concern that the failure is not being detected by the vehicle’s onboard systems. I am also experiencing low and fluctuating engine oil levels even after topping it off and a recent oil change, which may indicate an additional engine-related defect. The vehicle has a clean title and no accident history. - failed system: powertrain (engine/transmission), suspected torque converter clutch malfunction. Vehicle is available for inspection. - safety risk: intermittent loss of power, hesitation, and surging creates a high risk of collision, especially in traffic or at highway speeds. - confirmation: my independent mechanic has identified as likely a torque converter related issue. - inspection status: not yet inspected by manufacturer or insurance. - warnings/symptoms: no warning lights or codes. Symptoms began shortly after I purchased and have worsened over time.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/22/2026

Excessive oil consumption - Hyundai is refusing to issue a recall even tho there was a class action lawsuit.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/20/2026

The engine oil system failed due to a persistent oil leak that was present from the time of purchase on December 16th 2024. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and is currently immobile due to a completely seized engine. My safety was put at serious risk because the vehicle has no functioning low oil warning indicator to alert the driver of critically low oil levels. I was driving this vehicle regularly for work with no indication whatsoever that the engine was losing oil. A seized engine can cause sudden and complete loss of vehicle control which puts not only the driver but other drivers and pedestrians at risk. This failure occurred without any warning while the vehicle was in regular use. The oil leak was brought to the selling dealership, auto merchants inc. In plano texas, for repair on January 6th 2026. They kept the vehicle overnight and confirmed it was fixed. The problem was not resolved as the vehicle continued losing oil. On March 3rd 2026 I discovered the engine was completely empty and added 6 full quarts of oil with no warning light appearing. I also contacted Hyundai consumer affairs and the Hyundai dealership directly who confirmed the manufacturer warranty had already expired at the time of purchase on December 16th 2024 and declined to cover the repair. The vehicle has not yet been formally inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representatives. The dealership serviced it on January 6th 2026 and claimed the leak was repaired however the engine seized on April 20th 2026 due to continued oil loss. There were zero warning lamps or indicators of any kind prior to the engine seizing completely on April 20th 2026. No low oil warning light appeared at any point during the 4 months I owned this vehicle despite the engine running completely out of oil on three separate occasions. The only symptom prior to full engine seizure was the vehicle sputtering when coming to a stop on April 19th 2026, one day before the engine seized completely.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/19/2026

Component: engine my 2020 Hyundai Palisade (approximately 155,856 miles) experienced a serious and dangerous engine-related failure that resulted in a vehicle fire. My 16 year old daughter was driving alone at the time of the catastrophic failure and fire. For approximately six months prior to the incident, the vehicle was consuming oil at an abnormal rate with no visible external leaks. This condition persisted without clear cause. While driving, the vehicle suddenly developed a new oil leak, and the engine failed without warning, leaving me stranded on the roadway. Immediately following the failure, the engine compartment caught fire. There were no prior indications of an active oil leak before this sudden failure. The progression from oil consumption to catastrophic failure and fire presents a serious safety concern. This incident created a dangerous situation with risk of injury or worse, and it appears to be more than normal wear and tear. I am reporting this as a potential safety defect involving engine failure and fire risk. Mileage at time of incident: approximately 155,856 miles no prior accident or external cause contributed to the fire.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/11/2026

I have been having an issue with my 2021 Hyundai Palisade's engine oil consumption. It is constantly burning oil at a high rate, requiring me to purchase oil constantly. I had it serviced at Hyundai in gurnee, IL. An oil consumption test was conducted. Hyundai corporate stated that my vehicle's engine was not burning oil at the required rate, which prompted an engine replacement. I reached out to corporate because the issue is persisting, but they never responded to my concern. This issue is costing me a significant amount of money, as I have to purchase oil without a remedy from Hyundai regarding my engine oil consumption. As a consumer, it's frustrating because I left without answers on an issue they definitely know about.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/09/2026

After emissions campaign 9c9, downshifting using paddle shifters on downhill grades, engine failing to maintain speed. Does not slow car down like it did before, seems like no compression. Fuel efficiency / emissions over traditional transmission braking, forcing drivers to use brakes more often to avoid high rpms. Safety risk: the lack of engine braking can lead to brake overheating or fade on long downgrades, lack of engine braking can lead to brake overheating or fade on long downgrades. Above is what google found [xxx] ) when I put in some key words. Here is what I wrote to a [xxx] . My 2021 Hyundai Palisade campaign 9c in your article about the 2022 having the same downshifting issues after the emissions recall was done. Have you heard from other 2021 owners? I use the downshift for breaking/keeping my speed down to save the breaks here in the [xxx] , [xxx] , and [xxx] mountains. Does not function as designed. "loss of engine braking" " high engine revving" did go back to dealer and drove tech around lot. I called back later and nothing they can do. 5/12/26 went to the dealer again, for an appointment. Dealer service manager said it working as designed. Bull, was not that way before. He said if I don't like it, trade in the car. . He also said that I can't compare the palasade to the other cars that have manual shifting. Bull. I said why have them if they don't do anything. . . Tried to explain that I have been driving for over 40 years and have always downshifted every car. This was fine until the emissions recall. Got no place with the dealer. Contacted Hyundai corporate last week, and they should be following up on Wednesday/tomorrow. 5/13/26 left vm for sales gm at bowser today where I purchase the car. Wrote above and more [xxx] contacting you now. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/08/2026

- engine leaking oil / burning oil - vehicle stuttered while turning left - can lead to sudden breakdown or stalling - dealer performed warranty repair of oil pan and oil filter housing in February. 2 months later, no oil on dipstick. Dealer reports this is a common issue. - manufacturer states one quart of oil lost every 1000 miles is acceptable. Car holds 6 quarts of oil. Dealership oil change is once every 6000 miles. Engine will be out of oil before next oil change is due - car is at dealer with no loaner available. Hyundai corporate contacted and they say this is very common and oil consumption test is next step. In the meantime, no car for us. - vehicle still has 28000 miles under warranty. A simple internet search will show this is an extremely common issue with no fix. - life of engine, value of car, peace of mind, safety of occupants are all a concern.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/31/2026

A week or so after taking the car in for an oil change, I was on the highway and heard a rattling sound coming from the engine. There were no indicator or warning lights from the dashboard. The car then stopped accelerating. It was on, and the accelerator increased the rpms but the car did not move faster. I safely got home and checked the oil and it had less than a quart. There were no low-oil indicator lights telling me the oil was low. Separately, this week, while driving in the city, the engine again started making rattling sounds and completely shut off forcing me to pull off the road. Again, prior to the shut off there were no indicator lights. I was able to pull to the side of the road safely. I tried to restart the car and it would idle roughly befor the engine shut off again. After waiting 30 minutes, I checked the oil to see if the previous cause was the culprit, but this time the oil was still full. After 45 minutes, I was able to restart the car and drive home. I researched the issue and there are many complaints on reddit about this for this make and model. Since the issue is intermittent and can't be replicated at the dealership, there is no fix offered. I no longer trust or feel safe driving this car, especially on highways.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/31/2026

At about 60,200 miles, my check engine light went off and I took it to the dealer. They told me all my fuel injectors were failing and I had to replace those to include the spark plugs. I understand there is a current class action lawsuit for similar Hyundai vehicles but does not include the Palisade.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/30/2026

When picking up my children from daycare, my 2024 Palisade (37k miles) would not shift into park. It was stuck in the reverse position. It would not shift to any drive, park, or neutral. Even in the reverse position, the car would not move. I applied the emergency brake and had to turn the car off without placing it in park. When I restarted the car, and place it in reverse, the engine made clunking noise. The dash said "shifting malfunction. Service immediately".

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/25/2026

While the vehicle was off and in my garage, the vehicle started on its own and was idling at an extremely high rpm. I was the only person home, the keys were out of reach on a key rack and had not been driven yet for the day. I walked into the garage and found my vehicles engine running at a high rpm and all the electrical displays within the vehicle were compleltely off with only the engine running. I retrieved my keys and my only thought was to start the car, which I did which then brought the rpm down to standard idle. I am extremely concerned as a vehicle idling in an eclosed garage poses extremely high risk to carbon monoxide.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/22/2026

Vehicle shifted into neutral while driving myself and others were put into danger as I was on the highway with no warning.

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/20/2026

The vehicle suffered a structural "seam leak" on the pressurized oil filter housing. This was verified by an authorized Hyundai dealer (dealer xxx, invoice #xxx). The failure is a structural crack in the housing component itself, not a maintenance-related seal or filter failure. This defect causes pressurized engine oil to spray directly onto the hot engine block while the vehicle is in operation, creating a severe and immediate fire hazard. Additionally, the rapid loss of oil and oil pressure poses a risk of sudden engine seizure or stalling at highway speeds, which could lead to a crash. Despite being a known manufacturing defect in a critical engine component, the manufacturer has refused to address the safety implications or offer a remedy. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/18/2026

While traveling to abilene TX to see my doctor my check engine light came on. I pulled into the Hyundai dealership and ask the service advisor to plug into my vehicle and let me know what was going on. After he talked to his service manager he advised me that they "where to busy" and the earliest they could get me in would be the next Monday. This was Wednesday. My home is 100 miles from abilene. I asked if he thought it would be alright and he said sure. I barely made it back to big spring before it started clinking and cluttering. It sound horrible. My son said it sounded like it through a rod. He checked the oil and said that I had low oil however my low oil light did not come on. I notified the dealership and was advised that I had to have it towed back to the shop in abilene which I did. After a week passed I was in abilene and stopped to check on my vehicle. Needless to say my repairs are in excess of 20k. New engine etc. And rear suspension is out also. After researching I have found I'm not the only owner with these problems. There are numerous complaints about these problems with the Palisade. This is a danger to all who own this vehicle. Fires, accidents and no telling what can affect us. All these vehicles need to be recalled because of the engine that was placed in these vehicles. The engine is eating oil fast. My oil changes were on time. Hyundai and the dealership are unwilling to offer any help in repairing my vehicle. The parts on the suspension are sub standard. I can't believe they are called the #1 SUV in America! buyers need to be aware of the substandard parts and engine. They also need to be aware the Hyundai doesn't stand behind their product or the dealership either for that matter. I shutter to think of who I could've been on the side of the road with a blown on fire engine. I'm thankful I made it home before the vehicle cratered.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/15/2026

Last year while traveling on vacation, my family was on the interstate crusing at approximately 70 mph when the Hyundai Palisade suddenly started shaking and slowing down. It was shaking so bad, I ended up having to turn on my flashers because the vehicle would not accelerate up hill while pressing on the gas pedal. Thankfully, I was able to exit the highway and located a Hyundai dealership about 15 miles away in jasper, al. The dealership service department was very nice and indicated my engine oil was low. I could not figure out why this happened because we have always changed the oil at recommended intervals but once the dealership changed the oil, the check engine light turned off and we were able to proceed on our trip. Last night, we were traveling from [xxx] International airport back to [xxx] and the same pattern started all over again. After conducting some internet research based on the 2020 Palisade sel, it appears this is a common issue for vehicles just under 100k miles. The reason I am reporting this is because Hyundai corporate should do the right thing in this situation, by offering to replace the engine since I am within the 100k mile powertrain warranty period. I plan to take the vehicle to my local dealership today becuase there are two outstanding recalls, one of which is considered more serious due to a seatbelt latch. We waited over a month to schedule this service and the local dealership cancelled our appointment and didnt even offer to contact us to tell us this. The seatbelt issue is still not resolved and now we need Hyundai to perform oil consumption testing because the vehicle should not be burning this amount of oil while driving at speeds over 55mph or over. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/14/2026

The vehicle would shut off when idling at lights or in reverse and have delayed acceleration after stops. It also would shut off when idling in park. I took it to the dealership summer-fall 2025 and they were too busy to investigate the issue because no alarms were present. The vehicle started doing the same thing and the check engine light came on March 2026. Now it has been in the shop for many weeks because of an fuel injector issue. The dealership service department says all 6 injectors need to be replace, but warranty won't cover them all. This appears to be a common issue with 2021 Hyundai Palisade vehicles and should be investigated for a safety recall.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/14/2026

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked for nine hours unattended in the middle of the night; it caught fire. No warning lights were illuminated before the fire. The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer two weeks prior for a recall repair and oil change. While her husband was extinguishing the fire, he sustained burns to his arms and face, but medical attention was not provided. Additionally, part of the home was burned. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. There was no police report filed, no air bag deployment, or crash. The vehicle was towed to a storage facility by the insurance company. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/12/2026

It is burning much more oil per 1000 miles than the Hyundai website says is normal. It has kept burning oil at a very high and abnormal rate. To the point of having to carry oil while driving. Nothing happened to make this start, it just began!.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/07/2026

1. The exact component that failed is unknown at this time. The fire appeared to originate in the driver-side front area of the engine compartment near the headlight. Prior to the fire the vehicle experienced engine shaking and a check engine light. The vehicle has been towed to a Hyundai dealership and is available for inspection by insurance investigators, the manufacturer, or safety investigators upon request. 2. The vehicle caught fire while it was being operated on a public roadway shortly after leaving our residence. Flames were visible from the engine compartment within minutes of driving. This created an immediate safety risk to the occupants of the vehicle and to other motorists because the fire occurred suddenly while the vehicle was in motion. 3. The problem has not been reproduced. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership following the fire incident and is awaiting inspection. The vehicle is a total loss. 4. The vehicle has been inspected by a tow operator and insurance representatives after the fire incident. The vehicle is currently located at a Hyundai dealership and may be inspected by the manufacturer or investigators if requested. 5. Yes. Prior to the fire the check engine warning light illuminated and the engine began shaking while the vehicle was being driven. Within moments of these symptoms a loud popping sound was heard from the front driver-side engine compartment area, followed by visible flames.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/06/2026

While driving at normal speed, my 2022 Hyundai Palisade suddenly lost power without warning. Multiple warning icons appeared on the dashboard at the same time. The vehicle immediately slowed down and became unsafe to operate. After pulling over, the vehicle would not restart and had to be towed. This created a dangerous situation on the roadway. I am reporting this because I wonder if other owners may have experienced similar sudden power-loss events with this model year. It was fortunate that I was on a secondary road and not on the highway when this happened because it could have resulted in fatalities.

30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/06/2026

The engine burns 1 quart per 1000 miles of driving.

31 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/06/2026

My 2020 Hyundai Palisade has an excessive and dangerous oil consumption defect. The vehicle consumes approximately 3/4 of a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. At a standard 8,000-mile oil change interval, the engine loses more oil than it holds between services. At approximately 185,000 miles, my vehicle stalled on the interstate with my family inside the vehicle. Upon inspection, the engine was critically low on oil. I added 5 quarts of oil to restore proper level. Critically, at no point prior to the stall did the low oil pressure warning light illuminate. The vehicle's oil warning system completely failed to alert me that the engine was dangerously low on oil. This is a dual failure: the engine is consuming oil at an excessive and unsafe rate, and the warning system designed to protect the driver failed to activate when the engine was in a critical state. I have reported this issue to my dealership and filed a formal complaint with Hyundai motor America. Neither has resulted in a meaningful resolution. Hyundai's internal "acceptable" oil consumption threshold of 1 quart per 1,000 miles is significantly outside mainstream industry standards set by other major manufacturers and appears designed to deny warranty claims rather than protect consumers. This defect poses a direct and serious safety risk. A vehicle stalling on the interstate due to oil starvation, with no warning to the driver, is a life-threatening failure. I am requesting that NHTSA open a formal investigation into the 2020 Hyundai Palisade for excessive oil consumption and oil pressure warning system failure.

32 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/05/2026

Hyundai's recent emissions software update (9c9) has disabled engine braking, creating a risk of brake fade on grades. The vehicle is no longer able to hold speed while descending grades, regardless of downshifting, forcing the brakes to be implemented to avoid excessive speed. This was never an issue prior to the software update and happened immediately after the software was installed. Instead of holding the vehicle with the engine (foot off the gas, and downshifting) the engine will continue to increase speed up to the point of approaching maximum rpms. Further evidence of this behavior is that trying to use the engine braking no longer shows maximum mpg on the dash, indicating the software update is still feeding fuel to the engine with the foot off the gas.

33 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/04/2026

I am reporting a safety concern involving my 2026 Hyundai Palisade limited involving repeated engine malfunction warning lights and diagnostic trouble code p001600 (camshaft/crankshaft timing correlation fault). This issue has occurred multiple times within the first 60 days of ownership and the vehicle has been taken to a Hyundai dealership twice. The dealer has not been able to determine a permanent repair and states the code is stored as a history fault without an available fix at this time. This defect is concerning because camshaft/crankshaft timing correlation faults can potentially result in engine stall, loss of power, or unexpected shutdown while driving, which could create a serious safety risk. I routinely drive long distances and transport two small children in this vehicle and no longer feel confident in the safety and reliability of this vehicle due to the unresolved engine defect. Additionally, I understand there is a recent safety recall affecting certain 2026 Hyundai Palisade vehicles, which increases my concern about the safety of this vehicle platform. I am submitting this complaint because this appears to be a potential safety defect involving engine operation that could affect safe driving conditions.

34 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/01/2026

Vehicle is consuming or burning oil at a high rate. While dealer has done an oil consumption test and claimed it was "within tolerance," I have on multiple occasions had the car start to shudder at 2,000 miles since last oil change only to find the oil wasn't even on the stick anymore. The symptoms go away when adding oil, on some occasions more than 4 quarts of oil need to be added to get the oil to "full" on the dip stick. Multiple independent service centers have noted how dirty the oil is and how little is drained on oil change. No warning lights have come on at any time, even when car is making grinding noises and shuddering with no oil. This causes a safety issue as drivers reasonably expect to go at least 3,000 miles between oil changes and the engine could seize in traffic. Owners are being tacitly asked to add oil regularly to keep the engine functioning properly.
