2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/20/2026

The engine oil system failed due to a persistent oil leak that was present from the time of purchase on December 16th 2024. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and is currently immobile due to a completely seized engine. My safety was put at serious risk because the vehicle has no functioning low oil warning indicator to alert the driver of critically low oil levels. I was driving this vehicle regularly for work with no indication whatsoever that the engine was losing oil. A seized engine can cause sudden and complete loss of vehicle control which puts not only the driver but other drivers and pedestrians at risk. This failure occurred without any warning while the vehicle was in regular use. The oil leak was brought to the selling dealership, auto merchants inc. In plano texas, for repair on January 6th 2026. They kept the vehicle overnight and confirmed it was fixed. The problem was not resolved as the vehicle continued losing oil. On March 3rd 2026 I discovered the engine was completely empty and added 6 full quarts of oil with no warning light appearing. I also contacted Hyundai consumer affairs and the Hyundai dealership directly who confirmed the manufacturer warranty had already expired at the time of purchase on December 16th 2024 and declined to cover the repair. The vehicle has not yet been formally inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representatives. The dealership serviced it on January 6th 2026 and claimed the leak was repaired however the engine seized on April 20th 2026 due to continued oil loss. There were zero warning lamps or indicators of any kind prior to the engine seizing completely on April 20th 2026. No low oil warning light appeared at any point during the 4 months I owned this vehicle despite the engine running completely out of oil on three separate occasions. The only symptom prior to full engine seizure was the vehicle sputtering when coming to a stop on April 19th 2026, one day before the engine seized completely.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/11/2026

I have been having an issue with my 2021 Hyundai Palisade's engine oil consumption. It is constantly burning oil at a high rate, requiring me to purchase oil constantly. I had it serviced at Hyundai in gurnee, IL. An oil consumption test was conducted. Hyundai corporate stated that my vehicle's engine was not burning oil at the required rate, which prompted an engine replacement. I reached out to corporate because the issue is persisting, but they never responded to my concern. This issue is costing me a significant amount of money, as I have to purchase oil without a remedy from Hyundai regarding my engine oil consumption. As a consumer, it's frustrating because I left without answers on an issue they definitely know about.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/31/2026

A week or so after taking the car in for an oil change, I was on the highway and heard a rattling sound coming from the engine. There were no indicator or warning lights from the dashboard. The car then stopped accelerating. It was on, and the accelerator increased the rpms but the car did not move faster. I safely got home and checked the oil and it had less than a quart. There were no low-oil indicator lights telling me the oil was low. Separately, this week, while driving in the city, the engine again started making rattling sounds and completely shut off forcing me to pull off the road. Again, prior to the shut off there were no indicator lights. I was able to pull to the side of the road safely. I tried to restart the car and it would idle roughly befor the engine shut off again. After waiting 30 minutes, I checked the oil to see if the previous cause was the culprit, but this time the oil was still full. After 45 minutes, I was able to restart the car and drive home. I researched the issue and there are many complaints on reddit about this for this make and model. Since the issue is intermittent and can't be replicated at the dealership, there is no fix offered. I no longer trust or feel safe driving this car, especially on highways.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/31/2026

At about 60,200 miles, my check engine light went off and I took it to the dealer. They told me all my fuel injectors were failing and I had to replace those to include the spark plugs. I understand there is a current class action lawsuit for similar Hyundai vehicles but does not include the Palisade.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/30/2026

When picking up my children from daycare, my 2024 Palisade (37k miles) would not shift into park. It was stuck in the reverse position. It would not shift to any drive, park, or neutral. Even in the reverse position, the car would not move. I applied the emergency brake and had to turn the car off without placing it in park. When I restarted the car, and place it in reverse, the engine made clunking noise. The dash said "shifting malfunction. Service immediately".

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/25/2026

While the vehicle was off and in my garage, the vehicle started on its own and was idling at an extremely high rpm. I was the only person home, the keys were out of reach on a key rack and had not been driven yet for the day. I walked into the garage and found my vehicles engine running at a high rpm and all the electrical displays within the vehicle were compleltely off with only the engine running. I retrieved my keys and my only thought was to start the car, which I did which then brought the rpm down to standard idle. I am extremely concerned as a vehicle idling in an eclosed garage poses extremely high risk to carbon monoxide.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/22/2026

Vehicle shifted into neutral while driving myself and others were put into danger as I was on the highway with no warning.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/20/2026

The vehicle suffered a structural "seam leak" on the pressurized oil filter housing. This was verified by an authorized Hyundai dealer (dealer xxx, invoice #xxx). The failure is a structural crack in the housing component itself, not a maintenance-related seal or filter failure. This defect causes pressurized engine oil to spray directly onto the hot engine block while the vehicle is in operation, creating a severe and immediate fire hazard. Additionally, the rapid loss of oil and oil pressure poses a risk of sudden engine seizure or stalling at highway speeds, which could lead to a crash. Despite being a known manufacturing defect in a critical engine component, the manufacturer has refused to address the safety implications or offer a remedy. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/18/2026

While traveling to abilene TX to see my doctor my check engine light came on. I pulled into the Hyundai dealership and ask the service advisor to plug into my vehicle and let me know what was going on. After he talked to his service manager he advised me that they "where to busy" and the earliest they could get me in would be the next Monday. This was Wednesday. My home is 100 miles from abilene. I asked if he thought it would be alright and he said sure. I barely made it back to big spring before it started clinking and cluttering. It sound horrible. My son said it sounded like it through a rod. He checked the oil and said that I had low oil however my low oil light did not come on. I notified the dealership and was advised that I had to have it towed back to the shop in abilene which I did. After a week passed I was in abilene and stopped to check on my vehicle. Needless to say my repairs are in excess of 20k. New engine etc. And rear suspension is out also. After researching I have found I'm not the only owner with these problems. There are numerous complaints about these problems with the Palisade. This is a danger to all who own this vehicle. Fires, accidents and no telling what can affect us. All these vehicles need to be recalled because of the engine that was placed in these vehicles. The engine is eating oil fast. My oil changes were on time. Hyundai and the dealership are unwilling to offer any help in repairing my vehicle. The parts on the suspension are sub standard. I can't believe they are called the #1 SUV in America! buyers need to be aware of the substandard parts and engine. They also need to be aware the Hyundai doesn't stand behind their product or the dealership either for that matter. I shutter to think of who I could've been on the side of the road with a blown on fire engine. I'm thankful I made it home before the vehicle cratered.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/15/2026

Last year while traveling on vacation, my family was on the interstate crusing at approximately 70 mph when the Hyundai Palisade suddenly started shaking and slowing down. It was shaking so bad, I ended up having to turn on my flashers because the vehicle would not accelerate up hill while pressing on the gas pedal. Thankfully, I was able to exit the highway and located a Hyundai dealership about 15 miles away in jasper, al. The dealership service department was very nice and indicated my engine oil was low. I could not figure out why this happened because we have always changed the oil at recommended intervals but once the dealership changed the oil, the check engine light turned off and we were able to proceed on our trip. Last night, we were traveling from [xxx] International airport back to [xxx] and the same pattern started all over again. After conducting some internet research based on the 2020 Palisade sel, it appears this is a common issue for vehicles just under 100k miles. The reason I am reporting this is because Hyundai corporate should do the right thing in this situation, by offering to replace the engine since I am within the 100k mile powertrain warranty period. I plan to take the vehicle to my local dealership today becuase there are two outstanding recalls, one of which is considered more serious due to a seatbelt latch. We waited over a month to schedule this service and the local dealership cancelled our appointment and didnt even offer to contact us to tell us this. The seatbelt issue is still not resolved and now we need Hyundai to perform oil consumption testing because the vehicle should not be burning this amount of oil while driving at speeds over 55mph or over. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/14/2026

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked for nine hours unattended in the middle of the night; it caught fire. No warning lights were illuminated before the fire. The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer two weeks prior for a recall repair and oil change. While her husband was extinguishing the fire, he sustained burns to his arms and face, but medical attention was not provided. Additionally, part of the home was burned. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. There was no police report filed, no air bag deployment, or crash. The vehicle was towed to a storage facility by the insurance company. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/07/2026

1. The exact component that failed is unknown at this time. The fire appeared to originate in the driver-side front area of the engine compartment near the headlight. Prior to the fire the vehicle experienced engine shaking and a check engine light. The vehicle has been towed to a Hyundai dealership and is available for inspection by insurance investigators, the manufacturer, or safety investigators upon request. 2. The vehicle caught fire while it was being operated on a public roadway shortly after leaving our residence. Flames were visible from the engine compartment within minutes of driving. This created an immediate safety risk to the occupants of the vehicle and to other motorists because the fire occurred suddenly while the vehicle was in motion. 3. The problem has not been reproduced. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership following the fire incident and is awaiting inspection. The vehicle is a total loss. 4. The vehicle has been inspected by a tow operator and insurance representatives after the fire incident. The vehicle is currently located at a Hyundai dealership and may be inspected by the manufacturer or investigators if requested. 5. Yes. Prior to the fire the check engine warning light illuminated and the engine began shaking while the vehicle was being driven. Within moments of these symptoms a loud popping sound was heard from the front driver-side engine compartment area, followed by visible flames.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/06/2026

While driving at normal speed, my 2022 Hyundai Palisade suddenly lost power without warning. Multiple warning icons appeared on the dashboard at the same time. The vehicle immediately slowed down and became unsafe to operate. After pulling over, the vehicle would not restart and had to be towed. This created a dangerous situation on the roadway. I am reporting this because I wonder if other owners may have experienced similar sudden power-loss events with this model year. It was fortunate that I was on a secondary road and not on the highway when this happened because it could have resulted in fatalities.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/06/2026

The engine burns 1 quart per 1000 miles of driving.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/06/2026

My 2020 Hyundai Palisade has an excessive and dangerous oil consumption defect. The vehicle consumes approximately 3/4 of a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. At a standard 8,000-mile oil change interval, the engine loses more oil than it holds between services. At approximately 185,000 miles, my vehicle stalled on the interstate with my family inside the vehicle. Upon inspection, the engine was critically low on oil. I added 5 quarts of oil to restore proper level. Critically, at no point prior to the stall did the low oil pressure warning light illuminate. The vehicle's oil warning system completely failed to alert me that the engine was dangerously low on oil. This is a dual failure: the engine is consuming oil at an excessive and unsafe rate, and the warning system designed to protect the driver failed to activate when the engine was in a critical state. I have reported this issue to my dealership and filed a formal complaint with Hyundai motor America. Neither has resulted in a meaningful resolution. Hyundai's internal "acceptable" oil consumption threshold of 1 quart per 1,000 miles is significantly outside mainstream industry standards set by other major manufacturers and appears designed to deny warranty claims rather than protect consumers. This defect poses a direct and serious safety risk. A vehicle stalling on the interstate due to oil starvation, with no warning to the driver, is a life-threatening failure. I am requesting that NHTSA open a formal investigation into the 2020 Hyundai Palisade for excessive oil consumption and oil pressure warning system failure.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/04/2026

I am reporting a safety concern involving my 2026 Hyundai Palisade limited involving repeated engine malfunction warning lights and diagnostic trouble code p001600 (camshaft/crankshaft timing correlation fault). This issue has occurred multiple times within the first 60 days of ownership and the vehicle has been taken to a Hyundai dealership twice. The dealer has not been able to determine a permanent repair and states the code is stored as a history fault without an available fix at this time. This defect is concerning because camshaft/crankshaft timing correlation faults can potentially result in engine stall, loss of power, or unexpected shutdown while driving, which could create a serious safety risk. I routinely drive long distances and transport two small children in this vehicle and no longer feel confident in the safety and reliability of this vehicle due to the unresolved engine defect. Additionally, I understand there is a recent safety recall affecting certain 2026 Hyundai Palisade vehicles, which increases my concern about the safety of this vehicle platform. I am submitting this complaint because this appears to be a potential safety defect involving engine operation that could affect safe driving conditions.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/01/2026

Vehicle is consuming or burning oil at a high rate. While dealer has done an oil consumption test and claimed it was "within tolerance," I have on multiple occasions had the car start to shudder at 2,000 miles since last oil change only to find the oil wasn't even on the stick anymore. The symptoms go away when adding oil, on some occasions more than 4 quarts of oil need to be added to get the oil to "full" on the dip stick. Multiple independent service centers have noted how dirty the oil is and how little is drained on oil change. No warning lights have come on at any time, even when car is making grinding noises and shuddering with no oil. This causes a safety issue as drivers reasonably expect to go at least 3,000 miles between oil changes and the engine could seize in traffic. Owners are being tacitly asked to add oil regularly to keep the engine functioning properly.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 02/25/2026

The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of oil. There was an oil-burning odor coming from the vehicle. There was a misfire coming from the engine before the vehicle stalled. The auto start/stop was activated while driving. The feature was turned off, but quickly reactivated. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 02/20/2026

This vehicle is still using the defective style piston rings causing oil consumption of 1. 5qts in 1000miles, with only 100,000miles. This has been ongoing since we purchased the vehicle with 94,000 miles. This needs to be issued as a recall to replace piston rings or the engine entirely. My valuemax level 4 extended warranty is refusing to repair the issue stating Hyundai/kia has carbon buildup on the piston rings. This engine could run low on oil and cause a fire, or a engine shut down causing a crash.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 02/20/2026

The engine in my 2021 Hyundai Palisade experienced sudden loss of oil leading to engine failure. The vehicle had been regularly serviced and maintained at a Hyundai dealership according to recommended intervals. During multiple service visits, the dealership informed me the vehicle was low on oil. An oil consumption test was performed but the results were inconclusive. At approximately 99,500 miles, the vehicle developed an oil leak which the dealership diagnosed as a gasket issue and repaired under warranty. An oil change was completed at that time. Approximately 5,000 miles later, while driving, the vehicle began experiencing loss of power and rough engine operation. I immediately drove the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership later informed me the engine had no oil in it when inspected. There were no active external leaks observed at that time. The dealership stated that it is “normal” for this engine to consume up to one quart of oil per 1,000 miles. The engine now requires full replacement due to internal damage caused by oil loss. This situation created a safety concern because the vehicle began losing power while in operation. The failure occurred suddenly without warning indicators prior to the loss of engine performance. The vehicle had documented oil level concerns during previous service visits, suggesting a potential excessive oil consumption or engine defect. The failed engine is currently available for inspection at the dealership.

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 02/17/2026

The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the vehicle turned off on several occasions after the engine auto start/stop system was engaged. The vehicle was restarted and was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. Additionally, upon starting the vehicle after the vehicle was refueled at a gas station, the check engine and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the vehicle failed to respond while shifted to drive(d). The vehicle was towed to the contact's business. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed because there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 5,463.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 02/10/2026

While idling at a traffic light on a busy city street all of the warning lights on the car went off and the car shut off on its own.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/29/2026

I have the video but I am unsure how to upload or share incident description: the vehicle is experiencing intermittent, complete engine stalls while in motion at highway speeds. The failure has occurred four times. Initial symptom: the issue first manifested as "stuttering" and erratic behavior from the advanced driver assistance systems (adas) which I thought it was. Escalation: the vehicle has since progressed to a total loss of power. During these incidents, I was forced to pull over on high-speed corridors (hwy 46 and hwy 5) to restart the vehicle. Recurring pattern: most recently, after a stall and restart, the vehicle stalled again within a few blocks. I have captured video evidence of the stall occurring immediately after the vehicle was "reset" and put back into motion. Safety concern: this is a life-threatening defect. The vehicle loses propulsion without warning in high-speed traffic. The manufacturer’s service department (Hyundai) has been unable to identify a diagnostic fault code, citing "no problem found," and has only attempted a software/values reset, which has failed to correct the physical stalling.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/28/2026

While driving on a California freeway at approximately 70mph, the engine check light began flashing, the vehicle experienced a sudden and severe power loss, entered reduced power mode, and began violently shaking. Engine braking occurred without brake light activation, creating an immediate rear-end collision risk from following traffic. The vehicle would not stop shaking until restarted. This occurred twice — once in January 2026 and again in March 2026, both on the freeway with passengers in the vehicle. The dealer confirmed fault codes p0303 (cylinder 3 misfire), p0306 (cylinder 6 misfire), and p0300 (random/multiple misfire) on both visits. On the first visit the dealer called the codes normal and returned the vehicle unrepaired. The second visit lasted 44 days. The dealer could not reproduce the fault during the entire 44-day period. A Hyundai field service engineer physically visited the dealership and applied a special software update to the engine control module. The closed repair order documents this as "update special software into engine control unit" with no TSB number, no software version before or after, and no gds event number. The dealer confirmed they have no access to this update and cannot verify what was changed. No proof of correction was issued for California emissions compliance. The two recalls performed on the same repair order both have proper TSB numbers and stui documentation. The ecm update has none. Concerned about emissions compliance and potential fault code suppression on a California-registered vehicle.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/28/2026

Oil filter housing leak. Does not impact oil levels but more notable during cold weather as the ring tends to shrink.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/27/2026

I am reporting a safety concern involving repeated engine stalling while driving my 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The vehicle has stalled a total of seven times during normal operation. Most of the incidents occurred while slowing down or stopped at intersections and traffic lights. In these situations, the engine suddenly shut off without warning. I was forced to immediately shift the vehicle into park and restart the engine to continue driving. The check engine light did illuminate in connection with this issue. These incidents create a serious safety hazard, as sudden engine shutdown in active traffic increases the risk of rear-end collision. The loss of engine power occurs unexpectedly and without sufficient warning. The vehicle has been inspected, and I was informed that the issue may involve internal engine malfunction requiring major repairs. Because this vehicle has experienced multiple unexpected stalls in traffic, I am submitting this complaint due to the significant safety risk posed by sudden engine failure during operation.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/21/2026

Along with the two recalls of which I have not been contacted by Hyundai or provided any form of remedy, this is highly concerning and makes me feel extremely unsafe driving my vehicle, especially with the fact that I have small children and teenagers. My car had an issue from inception that I’ve let the dealer know about that. They still have not fixed including the fact that well I’ll be driving on certain roads are on the highway. It’ll come up with a warning telling me that I’m going the wrong way and try to engage the automatic breaking system. In addition, the second row seatbelt has been stuck and it won’t go back in. The third row seats often times try to disengage and come down. Anytime I hit a small bump or go over a speed bump even very slow. My bluetooth goes off-line as well as the navigation and then it comes back online within 3 to 5 minutes. Carr seems to have had a number of odd issues, including the way the engine has sounded as well as the electrical system is not engaging properly. I feel highly unsafe continuing to drive this vehicle and until all recalls and full proper analysis is conducted to remedy these issues I would want either a full refund of the cash value that I purchased my vehicle for, a brand new vehicle at no additional charge, or a loaner vehicle until all of these issues are remedied, and then a full analysis to ensure that it meets the standards. My preference would be to get a full refund of the cash value in which I purchased my vehicle for so I can get something else that is more safe for my family.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/18/2026

The vehicle engine shuts off out of nowhere, unable to change/switch between gears for 2-3 minutes after stopping at a red light, stop sign, or during heavy traffic, with no activation of the idle-stop-system before the incident. During the incident, the vehicle's steering was not able to turn. I have to keep my foot on the brake pedal for a while. After the second incident, I managed to drive the vehicle carefully and slowly to the dealership, but I was told there was no problem with the vehicle. So, I requested to take a drive with a mechanic, and the engine shut off in the middle of the street while slowing down for the third time. The dashboard reads "auto stop is off. " shift to p or n and start engine manually. Vehicle still at the dealership for 5 days.

30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Request: investigation into oil consumption recall and sensor failure.

31 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/12/2026

On January 12, 2026, the vehicle shut off twice during the same trip while driving in traffic. All dashboard warning lights illuminated, the tachometer spiked, rpm readings did not correspond, the gear selector became unresponsive, and the vehicle lost propulsion while in motion. On February 15, 2026, the vehicle shut off again while driving under similar conditions. The vehicle was taken to a Hyundai dealership for diagnosis. The battery failed a load test and was replaced. According to the repair order narrative, after the battery replacement, the stall condition recurred during dealership testing. Multiple extended road tests and datalogging were later performed. The dealership has stated they are unable to re-replicate the condition and that no active diagnostic codes are present. The vehicle has experienced multiple loss-of-power events while in motion. An intermittent stall while driving presents a significant safety hazard, particularly in traffic conditions. The root cause has not been definitively identified.

32 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/02/2026

The engine is burning oil at a rapid rate. It's burning one liter every 70 miles.

33 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 01/01/2026

Excessive oil consumption. The vehicle is burning nearly 4 quarts of oil between changes. This started at around 100,000 miles with no warning lights. The only indication was a strange tapping noise coming from the engine.

34 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2025 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 12/27/2025

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2025 Hyundai Palisade. The vehicle has repeatedly produced white smoke during cold start and has experienced loss of engine power while driving. Despite multiple repair visits (six times) to an authorized Hyundai dealership, the dealer repeatedly stated that the condition could not be reproduced and no repairs were performed. I provided video evidence of the white smoke and described the symptoms in writing at each visit. Shortly after the most recent service visit(12/22/25), within approximately five days, the vehicle displayed an “engine power limited” warning message and a malfunction indicator light (mil). When this occurred, the vehicle’s power was significantly reduced, making it difficult to maintain speed and creating a potentially dangerous condition, especially during highway driving or merging into traffic. This issue poses a serious safety risk because sudden loss of engine power can increase the risk of collision. The problem appears to be intermittent but recurring, and it has not been properly diagnosed or corrected by the dealership despite repeated opportunities. The vehicle has not been repaired for this condition, and the defect remains unresolved. The condition may be available for inspection upon request, and diagnostic data such as warning messages and onboard fault codes should be present in the vehicle’s system. The failure began with white smoke during cold start and later escalated to engine power limitation and warning lights.

35 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 12/27/2025

Vehicle experienced engine failure previously and received a Hyundai-installed replacement engine in February 2025. Replacement engine is now setting dtc p000a00 – intake camshaft position slow response (bank 1). Hyundai dealership master technician confirmed excessive variance between commanded and actual cam timing, indicating a vvt / cam timing failure controlled by oil and actuators. Hyundai is refusing to cover diagnosis and repair under replacement engine warranty and is requiring customer-paid tear-down despite fault originating within the engine assembly. Concern is for internal engine timing failure that may lead to engine damage or loss of power. This appears consistent with known Hyundai engine timing and oil control issues.
