The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 145,000.

2 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2019

Esc is intermittently turning itself off for no apparent reason when I am driving. Happens mostly when I first start driving and am at a very low speed, but also happens on the highway at higher speeds at times. Only way to turn it back on is to turn off the engine and re-start. Is happening more frequently over the last week (almost a daily occurrence).

3 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2019

My son, zacher tiburzi was driving the car. While decelerating down from 60 mph on approach to bridge toll plaza, at about 40 mph the esc light came on, the engine lost power and the steering became very hard to work.

Failure Date: 04/27/2019

Hyundai recalls Santa Fe for alternator oil leak. Santa fe crossover to fix an oil leak, caused by a faulty valve cover gasket, that could affect alternator performance. . Dealer said they wont honor the recall cause its out of warranty. Also the coil was not replaced and a recall was sent out also on coil spring. The wont honor that.

5 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2019

Driving at 60mph the esc off light appeared and the vehicle came to a 5mhp slow down quickly and the steering was extremely hard to pull off the road as if the engine had died. I was almost hit by a logging truck. This is an extremely dangerous problem.

6 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2019

Brake lights remain on, stability control is turned off and cruise control doesn't work. This is a safety hazard to vehicles following, a lack of vehicle stability control, an inability to maintain a constant speed on the freeway. There has been a historic recall on this issue - but not for this specific VIN. This vehicle obviously is using the same defective part. Battery runs down and vehicle won't start unless battery is disconnected (due to brake lights remaining on).

7 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2018

Check engine light stays on after a professional reset brakes light wont go off unless I unhook the battery.

8 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2018

"takata recall" my car constantly has the esc off light come on while I'm driving. I can be going 5 miles per hour or 60 miles per hour. I can be in my neighborhood or riding on the interstate. I was sitting still the other day and the light came on causing me to not be able to hit the gas. This has been going on for over a week now, since 05/14/18.

9 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. While driving 75 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 20 mph and drove slowly. The vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. Also, the electronic stability control warning indicator illuminated. The contact called napleton Hyundai (3703 north lake blvd, lake park, FL 33403, 888-691-9402), but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist because the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was 76,000.

10 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2017

Esc is intermittently turning itself off for no apparent reason when I am driving. Happens mostly when I first start driving and am at a very low speed, but also happens on the highway at higher speeds at times. Only way to turn it back on is to turn off the engine and re-start. Is happening more frequently over the last week (almost a daily occurrence).

11 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2017

Esc off light comes on then vehicle slows down to 20 mph and will not speed up. Must park turn engine off to get to go again. No longer works.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2017

The electroin stability control (esc) function on my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe has begun failing since April 2018. The warning light will randomly come on better than halfo of the time we operate the vehicle. There is a push-button switch that allows manual control of this feature that now does nothing. This failure shows to be part of a voluntary recall of 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles - see nhsta campaign id number: 13v1130000 (Hyundai # 110). Checking with Hyundai, they indicate my vehile VIN is not part of the recall though the description of the failure matches what is happening to the vehicle. The failure can occur at start up, shortly after beginning driving, while driving, or not at all.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2017

For the last three years I have had issues with my fuel gauge not working. I have taken it in and was told it would cost a good amount of money to fix. I asked if this is a common problem with massey Hyundai and they told me yes this is a current issue, and could not be recalled because it was not dangerous. So on 3. 9. 17 as a result of not fixing this issue with my vehicle because of the price. My car has stalled out once while on the interstate and almost lost control of my car and crashed. And a second time while turning into work road and stalling out again mid turn and almost turning into a ditch. I was told that the fuel sensor needed to be replaced and they had to do both because they weren't sure which one it is. If not fixed could result in an accident, well if this is a problem for most Hyundai vehicles this should be fixed by the company who makes it not the people who buy faulty products.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2016

I arrived home from work and my car wouldnt shift into park. It will not shift without using the lock mechanism by the shifter. Now when I put it in gear it automatically has the ecs off light on the dash.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2016

Hyundai Santa Fe esc light pops on intermittently and after pushing the on/off switch does not put it out. "esc " light intermittently illuminates on the dashboard the front tires kind of lock up with a grinding sound and the car violently trying to stop it self and I was going straight on a city street. Research shows this is a common problem in many Hyundai models and recalls have been issued. I am the owner of the vehicle.

16 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2016

I was driving down a major highway when my esc off light and check engine light came on. My car slowed down to 20 mph and would not allow me to speed up at all almost causing me to be smashed into several times!! I shut my car off and re started it and I was able to get off the highway to someplace safe. I am having my mechanic look at it now but after looking on forums, I see it is probably the tps and I see that many other people have had this happen! why is this not recalled?!?! this is beyond a safety issue!.

17 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2016

While driving, I noticed the esc off light was on. I was still on low speed residential road. Pushing on the esc on button didnt do anything. I had to find a place to stop. Eventually I turn off my car and restarted, its gone. Then it happened again yesterday and again today. Looking into what could be the cause, I saw a lot of people are having the same issue. This is affecting safe driving because of this lighting up on its own and I mostly drive highway.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2016

(jcc add fuel propulsion, remove ext light) tl the contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. Upon starting the vehicle, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. After driving a short distance, the electronic stability control warning indicator also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing, which produced failure codes for the fuel senders and brake light switch. The vehicle was not repaired. The mechanic stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v113000 (service brakes, hydraulic, exterior lighting). The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

Light comes on intermittently for no reason. I have no idea if it is working or not. Started about 85,000 miles. Appears to be common problem with this model and year. Happens frequently during driving.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2016

When I was drving on the highway with 75 miles/hour the " esc off" light is suddenly came on even though I did not touch anything. After that the light is on and off all the time.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2016

My Santa Fe esc light came on and the car went into a "limp mode". It slowed down to 10 mph and wouldn't let me accelerate. I pulled over and I could feel the engine sputtering. I turned off the engine and waited a minute, turned the engine back on and everything was fine. Happened the next day as well , now when I drive whether its a cold start or after 30 minutes of driving the vehicle goes into limp mode. I took it to te dealer and $350 dollars later ihad the problem fixed, turned out to be a throttle position sensor. I have done research on this problem and I am not the only one this has happened to. This is a serious issue that I feel needs to be addressed by Hyundai immediately before someone gets injured or killed. The first time this happened to me I was driving on the interstate early in the morning and I was travelling on the inside lane and I was able to pull off the highway or my wife and I could have been seriously hurt or killed.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

Sensors -are bad. Have to turn off esc to keep from abs pulling me off the road. Feels like brakes are falling out. Someone else I saw said she had same issue. I paid over $2,000 to get brakes fixed at dealership-never fixed issue. I turn off button only give me a chance to drive.

23 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2015

Bought the car used, 2007 Santa Fe with 71k miles on it. 2 months after I got the vehicle, the esc off light started intermittently coming on. Then one day it stayed on and that same day the check engine light came on. I noticed the next day that my brake lights would not come on when pressing the brake and that my cruise control would not engage at all. The esc off light will not be on when I first get in the car, but the minute I hit the brakes, it comes on and stays on. Ever since the first day the check engine light came on, it has stayed on since. I believe this may be part of an earlier recall, but my specific vehicle did not fall under that recall.

24 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2015

Light esc on.

25 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

My esc off light comes off and on, intermittently with the check engine light. They both go off and on randomly. The esc off light will not go off when pushed. I cannot tell if the esc feature is engaged or not. I have had this car since it was new. It has been well maintained and in the shop whenever a fix was needed. After researching this issue, it's been a common complain with various Hyundai models, including mine. Upon speaking with Hyundai USA, various cars on this line have been recalled for this same issue. Mine was not one on line that was noted, however the issue is exactly the same. I filed a complaint with Hyundai USA last week. My only recourse is to take it to a nearby dealer and pay them to do a diagnostic work up out of pocket. I believe this problem has potential for safety issues. I bought my car with the esc safety feature. Now I can't tell if it's engaged or not as I cannot get the light to go off.

26 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2015

3/18 driving down a road hit a large pothole esc off and abs lights pop on on the dash press the esc button wihish did nothing. I stop in a parking lot turn the car off and then back on the lights came back on as I pulled away the lights turned off. 3/19 I was driving at about 25-30 and all of a sudden the esc off and abs lights came one once again I park at the grocery store to shop. Leaving the grocery store I turn on the vehicle on the dash the same lights are light up as I pull away they turn off NHTSA campaign number: 09v122000 is a recall in place for this issue on my make and model vehicle but it starts for the Santa Fes that were manufactured from April of 2007 and further. My Santa Fe was manufactured in mid March of 2007 please look into adding my vehicle to NHTSA campaign number: 09v122000.

27 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2015

Hyundai Santa Fe esc light pops on intermittently and after pushing the on/off switch does not put it out. The check engine light also pops on along with the esc light. Research shows this is a common problem in many Hyundai models and recalls have been issued. I am the original owner of the vehicle.

28 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2014

When pressing on the brakes, the antilock braking system abs will activate whether slowing at 10 mph to and intersection or slowing at 50 mph in traffic. While driving, the esc and abs warning lights come on at the same time. The brakes and warning lights come on on asphalt streets in good shape, on bumpy roads, or going over speed bumps. The abs activated when coming to an intersection preventing the car from stopping at the stop light. South bay Hyundai in torrance CA says its the abs control module and will replace it for $2300. 00 and we cannot have our car back for 4 days. The vehicle is in very good shape. Purchased August 2007. Has 90169 miles.

29 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2014

When car is turned on "esc off" dashboard light remains on making the esc useless.

30 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2014

Brake switch malfunctioned causing esc off light to illuminate, cruise control not to engage, and brake lights to not illuminate. Check engine code of p0405 being thrown by onboard computer to indicate failure.

31 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2013

This is actually my third complaint. I have spoken to Hyundai no one will acknowledge that there is a problem. First my check engine light came on. I was told it was a fuel gauge sensor. I recently had them replaced now my car's check engine light is flashing and the car has stalled on me several times while in traffic or on the interstate. Hyundai is ignoring this. I think it's my fuel/ proposition system. I had a tune-up the car shakes like it's going to stall constantly. I can smell the fuel from inside of the car. I cannot believe after all the complaints they still say that the cars affected were either only 2006 models or were never sold. That's a lie. They've had over four hundred complaints and three years to do something about this.

32 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2013

I went to the dealer to have recall issues corrected and another customer brought his same year vehicle with the same issues in for his recalls. I heard him tell the service guy the exact same issues I was having. They pulled my car around and when I got in the car the esc light was still on so I went back in to ask about it and he pulls it up my info and tells me the production date did not qualify and that it's the brake switch. He then shows me the production date for the other customer and uses it as an example as to how it's based on when the car was built. He explains why it happens and the danger in it so I stop him and ask him if it's just a coincidence that there's a recall for this issue. Any way you look at it the other customer had the same make and model and year as mine with the same brake switch recall problem yet it didn't affect my car and he looked at me and said the dealership wouldn't get paid for the work cause it wouldn't be reimbursed by Hyundai and if I call Hyundai and was real nice that they may allow it. I called and very nicely explained that my car was having the issues directly related to the brake switch and that a Hyundai dealership had inspected it and printed me copies stating that it was the issue for the recall and said there was nothing they could do. Obviously they are not taking responsibility to account for every single vehicle affected by there mistakes and further more after explaining to me the danger with it they don't care enough about my safety and have no problem sending me back on the street with the faulty vehicle the sold me. If there's anything you can do to look into it and help out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

33 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. When starting the vehicle, the esc indicator illuminated and the vehicle would not accelerate over 10 mph. The contact would have to turn the vehicle on and off several times in order to deactivate the esc. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The failure recurred. The failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 13v113000 (exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic). The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2013

Gas fuel gauge stopped working. Estimated repairs from dealer $550. 00. Needed to remove rear seat and fuel tank.

35 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2013
