I have a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe sport 2. 0 with 8500 miles on it. Since I took possession of this car, I have been having repeated occurrences of engine stalling coupled with the traction control light going on. This happens when I make either left or right turns into traffic: acceleration stalls completely for 2-3 seconds, and the traction control warning light flashes. I cannot get the car to accelerate at all, even with the pedal fully depressed to the floor. The engine revs extremely hard, but the car does not accelerate. This happens on completely dry pavement. There is something seriously wrong with the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, and someone is going to die as a result of this problem. I have come close to being rear ended multiple times, and I have nearly been t-boned when taking a turn in front of on-coming traffic. I have researched this problem online, and it is wide spread with hundreds of identical complaints. This needs to be addressed immediately before someone dies in the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe.

When making a left or right 90 degrees turn from a stopped position exiting a driveway or from a stop sign on smooth surfaced roads, upon acceleration, at the midpoint of the turn the forward momentum starts to lag and pressing the gas peddle results in what feels like a loss of or reduction of engine power causing potential for not getting up to a safe speed to merge safely in front of oncoming traffic. Complained to the Hyundai dealer that stated was a computer issue having to do with traction control and requires an update which is not available at this time.
The belt that runs the alternater has broken twice and continuously is squealing it wont keep speed when going up hill and wont let battery charge correctly to keep running will stop when it is being ran.

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. While driving 75 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 20 mph and drove slowly. The vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. Also, the electronic stability control warning indicator illuminated. The contact called napleton Hyundai (3703 north lake blvd, lake park, FL 33403, 888-691-9402), but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist because the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was 76,000.

Engine started to make clicks and car immediately stalled getting off the freeway. Had to be stopped, parked before I regained engine power. This happened around 22,800 miles. Happened again on the way to dealer and with dealer service staff. Diagnosed as defective turbo assembly that was replaced. Shortly after I picked the car from the shop, I noticed same clicking noise again and car also accelerated on it's own when my foot was not on the break. This happened intermittently. The car returned to the shop and I was told that there is damage in the engine and the engine was replaced. When I went to pick up the car I noticed oil dripping below it. Car was inspected again and I was informed that the transmission assembly is cracked and will need to be replaced. The car is still at the shop.

Esc is intermittently turning itself off for no apparent reason when I am driving. Happens mostly when I first start driving and am at a very low speed, but also happens on the highway at higher speeds at times. Only way to turn it back on is to turn off the engine and re-start. Is happening more frequently over the last week (almost a daily occurrence).
Takata recall: on June 2 2017 I took my vehicle to happy Hyundai of oak lawn for an oil change. They determined there was a recall because of rusting of my cars undercarriage. They kept my vehicle until August 17,2017. On October 5th, I was backing in a parking spot, what I know now as my control arm, left axle and left ball joint broke. Had it towed home, called happy Hyundai, has it towed there. After inspectioning my vehicle they determined the control arm & axle were a part of the campaign recall but they are refusing to fix my vehicle. Reuben told me on June 2, they were confiscating it because I could be driving and the bottom of the vehicle could fall off. Thankfully I wasn't driving on the highway. Hyundai returnses an unsafe vehicle to me and are not taking responsibility in repairing my vehicle when they should at least repair they recall since the control arm & axle was included in the recall. I think an investigation should be opened regarding this recall to ensure Hyundai is repairing vehicles up to safety standards.
Started car, noticed the following dash lights were abs esc downhill braking checked online and found that Hyundai recalled 1. 7 million vehicles for this problem (defective brake lamp switch) up to 2011. I'm concerned that my 2012 car has the same issue, even though my VIN is not included in the recall. These lights stay on no matter if moving or stationary.
When making a left turn from a stop or rolling stop and you press hard on the accelerator the engine does not rev up and the hesitation of a second or two can leave you stranded in a lane of traffic.
On may 31st I purchase a new Santa Fe sport awd 2017 - 21 days after drving the card the dashboard light where coming on for tracking control and downward shifting - when I originally called the dealership I was told maybe I went through a large puddle if they come on again call them back - within three hours of hanging up the phone the same problem started again - I called the dealership - and brought the car in they kept the car for a month stating a master technician from Hyundai was looking into it, but they see where there was an issue with the shift. But they were not able to tell me the issue but it seemed to be cured for. While I was driving last week on the highway I hear a thumping sound, I thought I had a flat tire - pulled over no flat - I proceeded to drive and the sound came back - I immediately turned around and brought it back to a local mechanic shop - the mechanic shop informed me that the right front axle and shaft joint was broken and the car was unsafe to drive - I had the car towed to the local dealership who confirmed the same issue and replaced the parts required - they informed me that it was very possible that was the reason why the dashboard lights are coming on originally - the card is branch new and did not even make three months of ownership - I contacted Hyundai originally and made a complaint for the dashboard ,lights but never received a reply - I sent an additional email in regards to the new issue and informed them that they should check to see if perhaps this make and model of the card is are experiencing a manufacturing defect ----- I also informed them that I could have died if this axle failed while driving on the highway. - I think there need to an investigation into the matter before someone does end up dying.
Car has serious, dangerous acceleration problems. It's most noticeable when turning left into oncoming traffic. Car appears to lose all power when accelerating - hanging for seconds while nothing happens. Engine hits redline all the time and it barely gains speed. Called dealer and was first told "dual clutch will learn driving style. " after noting car has 2k miles was then told "the delay is a characteristic of that car. " this is unacceptable and incredibly dangerous. I've almost been t-boned multiple times because of this. Googling led me to many other reports of the same issue. This vehicle needs to be recalled.
Esc off light comes on then vehicle slows down to 20 mph and will not speed up. Must park turn engine off to get to go again. No longer works.
I actually have 2 issues occurring. One of these was deemed to have been fixed by a previous recall (campaign 105/110 - fixed /closed Jun 23, 2014). However, my esc off light and abs light are again lighting up. I have (luckily) not yet had loss of engine power or control. The second issue is in regards to campaign 936. I've had the front engine valve gasket cover fixed, along with my alternator replaced (after my husband and I did it ourselves after losing all power on christmas eve in the middle of road before barely coasting into a nearby parking lot where we were able to sort of park out of the way). We changed my oil this weekend, have had no other work done on the car since (except oil changes) and my husband noticed that the alternator is again covered in oil. Between the 2 issues, it is most likely a matter of days (if I'm lucky) before my car loses power in some form and I am potentially in a wreck with my family in the car. I don't know how much the dealership wants to "re-fix" the first 2 campaigns that should have already been fixed, but for just the valve gasket work, it would be at least $500, not including the alternator that will need to be replaced when the car does go out. Apparently the gasket that is leaking this time isn't the front one, it is the rear one. My personal thoughts on this are that if the front one is faulty, then it's not a stretch to get to the rear one being faulty. My Hyundai dealership even warned me when replacing the front one that my rear one would most likely need to be done too (for $500+). If the dealerships know, it makes me wonder why the recall didn't include both valve cover gaskets or a new one hasn't been issued for the rear one. Hopefully, both of these issues can be re-addressed. The date below is of first warning lights. The lights come on from park or while driving.

The electroin stability control (esc) function on my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe has begun failing since April 2018. The warning light will randomly come on better than halfo of the time we operate the vehicle. There is a push-button switch that allows manual control of this feature that now does nothing. This failure shows to be part of a voluntary recall of 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles - see nhsta campaign id number: 13v1130000 (Hyundai # 110). Checking with Hyundai, they indicate my vehile VIN is not part of the recall though the description of the failure matches what is happening to the vehicle. The failure can occur at start up, shortly after beginning driving, while driving, or not at all.
Vehicle hesitates for a second or two when accelerating, both from a fully stopped position, or while driving at low speeds. Did not test high speeds. This can be a safety concern when merging into traffic, especially on a highway. Dealer service said they could not reproduce the issue, but it is very real, and very scary. I had documented this issue several times with Hyundai support but they just keep closing the case without any action.
Exactly 2,000 miles after my 60,000 mile warranty expired, my car experienced a failure of the air bag control module which also impacted steering, yaw/stability and other vehicle safety features. The warning lights came on while I was starting the vehicle but I encountered no issues when driving it 25 minutes to a dealership to have it checked out (fortunately). It took from 2 pm April 4 to 4 pm April 6 to get the necessary repairs done (the part had to be special ordered). It was not covered by either the expired 60,000 mile warranty or the extra ($1,500) 100,000 mile warranty (I was told that that warranty did not cover safety issues).
Hit pot hole after stop and stability control stops power to transmission. . . 5-8 seconds of no accelaration has caused safety issue when merging into traffic. Appears to be a very common problem on user based forums.
Driving and power steering went out, dash panel lights went haywire. I could barely turn the steering wheel to get the car off of the road. I am not at all sure my wife could have turned the wheel. Attempted to jump-start the car - not work. First time driving at 35 mph in a subdivision in al. Pulled over, would not start, towed to dealer who recharged battery and entire electrical system checked said it was fixed. Tried to jump-start the car and this did not work. Few weeks later exact same thing happened in ky. I was doing 63 mph on highway with 50 cubic yard coal trucks coming by. If happened to my wife I am very concerned as to a rather bad accident. Auto transmission locked up and could not get it out of gear. Tow people jimmied the shift to load on the tow truck. Vehicle towed to another dealer where battery replaced and entire electrical system checked said it was fixed. We bought the car new and have had three batteries in 2 years and 4 months. I do not let my wife drive the car except around town. I feel this is truly an accident waiting to happen. Do not know what caused the issue and apparently Hyundai does not know either.
During acceleration from stop or low speed turn ,car has no or little response from accelerator, happens on dry pavement as well as wet, traction control light flashes. At this point there is no traction issues. Reported to Hyundai dealer checked 3 times and said all was fine ,not satisfied with answer I contacted Hyundai customer service and spoke to chris wells opened a case with them #10059476 on 3/15/2017. Ive had phone contact with him ,he said he would give it to the guys upstairs but still no satisfaction. Big saftey concern!!! please help!.
For the last three years I have had issues with my fuel gauge not working. I have taken it in and was told it would cost a good amount of money to fix. I asked if this is a common problem with massey Hyundai and they told me yes this is a current issue, and could not be recalled because it was not dangerous. So on 3. 9. 17 as a result of not fixing this issue with my vehicle because of the price. My car has stalled out once while on the interstate and almost lost control of my car and crashed. And a second time while turning into work road and stalling out again mid turn and almost turning into a ditch. I was told that the fuel sensor needed to be replaced and they had to do both because they weren't sure which one it is. If not fixed could result in an accident, well if this is a problem for most Hyundai vehicles this should be fixed by the company who makes it not the people who buy faulty products.
I filed this report on 2/21/17 and after a few weeks it disappeared (complaint # 10956079). This is an updated version of that complaint. When making a right or left turn from a stop into traffic and the SUV hits a small patch of snow, pothole or bump in the street, the stability/ traction control will curtail the vehicle acceleration for a few seconds. This has caused a near miss rearend collision into my vehicle on three occasions. There is a button to shut the traction (acceleration) control feature off but it must be pushed each time you start the vehicle. My opinion is that the stability/traction control sensor is far too sensitive and / or the computer software needs to be revised. Hyundai motor USA and my local dealer have stated that the stability/traction control is operating as designed.
During normal left hand and right hand turns and u-turns, the tc/esc can activate and cause the engine management system to significantly reduce engine power. This happens on dry pavement, under normal acceleration. It will also happen more frequently during turns if there is a bump/pothole/road imperfection that jars the suspension. This issue is dangerous and has nearly caused accidents. I have had to pull off the road to avoid a collision from the rear because the engine had no power, the tc/esc light was flashing on the dash. So far my attempts at the dealer to have this fixed have been unsuccessful. I am working with Hyundai consumer affairs to determine a solution.

When making a right, left, or u turn the power completely cuts out and the car is left drifting without power. Their is no response to pushing on the gas peddle when this happens. At the same time on the dash the orange traction control light comes on. This last for a number of seconds and then the engine starts to once again respond to the gas peddle. This problem has happened to me and my wife12 times since we purchased the car 3-1/2 months ago. The problem has occurred in all weather conditions from a standing start and a rolling yield or u turn. The problem has always occurred on a paved public, city/county, street I have had the car to two different dealers, one several times, and both tell me that their are "no codes showing" so that their is nothing that they can do. You have to experience the fright of loosing power while you're in the process of a right or left hand turn with traffic coming at you from one or both sides to appreciate how truly dangerous this car is. This is our 4th or 5th Santa Fe, up to now all of them have been great but I am afraid to drive this new car we have now.
Before 50,000 miles had to purchase 4 new tires 1 blowout a&unusual vibrating from tires 4 new tires before 50,000 miles!I'm a widow of a veteran&lost my only son!a/c went out 2 years ago! 1) fuel tank gauge is inaccurate. Starts to drop rapidly after driving 75-100 miles and empty fuel tank light comes on after ~125-150 miles. When I refill the tank, it is only half empty. Normally, car will drive 270-320 miles before empty. 2) check engine light comes on and off. Nothing seems to be wrong with the car(have had it checked. ) 3) esc light comes on and off; sometimes at the same time as the check engine light, sometimes by itself. I have had it checked, no problem; and reset. Goes on - off again a few days later. These events have been occurring over the last 6 months, approximately.
I arrived home from work and my car wouldnt shift into park. It will not shift without using the lock mechanism by the shifter. Now when I put it in gear it automatically has the ecs off light on the dash.
Driver's seat lurches forward and backwards at random times while driving. This happens regardless of speed, brake/ acceleration/ cruise control, type of road, direction or movement etc. Often times while the car is parked or in motion, the seat will not move at all in any direction. Also, the abs, traction control, and downhill light have all been turning on and off at random, and, while parked and without provocation, my speedometer needle began jumping. Less important, the driver's seat a/c does not work consistently which leads me to believe this is an electrical malfunction, however, the multiple times I have taken this vehicle into the "service center", the mechanics said they could not recreate the problem and sent my broken car home, so the official reason is unknown. I am only 5'2" so this has caused me considerable problems with suddenly not being able to reach the pedals, and has almost resulted in numerous accidents.
My 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe sport 2. 0t ultimate hesitates starting from a stop especially on turns, to the point that it can be dangerous, as it may take several seconds before it will fully accelerate and I can avoid any oncoming traffic. It seems more pronounced in regular and eco mode than sport mode. The anti-skid traction light usually goes on when it is happening. This occurs at slow speed. When I took the car into the dealer, and it was checked by a factory rep who was there that day, they told me it was just the way the car works and it is the automatic anti-skid traction control working. I have been just very careful not to turn without a lot of space from any oncoming cars and I try to use sport mode to lessen the occurrences. This of course reduces fuel economy. I have now seen online reports by many other owners with the same problem and realize it is definitely not normal and needs to be corrected. I heard there may now be a technical service bulletin on this.
The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle began to hydroplane without warning. The contact stated that the steering failed and, due to the contact attempting to apply the brakes, the vehicle began to spin. The vehicle crashed into the road divider. The passenger side of the vehicle was damaged. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed. A police report was filed. The contact received shoulder and back injuries, which required medical attention. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ball bearings on the front axle were worn out. The tie rods were replaced, but the calipers needed to be replaced also. The vehicle was repaired. The body of the vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the esc and abs sensors illuminated. The contact returned the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the tires and brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
