39 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 04/23/2017

Fuel gauge is inconsistent and keeps going up and down after putting gas in. No idea how much gas is really in the tank.

40 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 04/13/2017

Fuel gauge problems. The fuel gauge goes up and down sporadically regardless of how much gas is in the tank. You can't determine how much gas is left which has posed a safety issue leaving me stranded in an unsafe area.

41 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 03/23/2017

The "check engine light" indicator turned on, and there was a recognizable failure in engine when srtarting. Took it back to dealerand took nearlya month to find the inconvinience and two weeks to fix it. They call me back to annuonce me it was ready and by the time I was reciving I noticed the air conditionar not functioning at all. Once again one more week to find the missfunctioning and reparing, now the veihicle is consumming to much gasoline (almost half tank in 87 kilometer) the injectors problem plevails. I get the Santa Fe in mxico, ciudad juarez chihuahua at hyndai penta is the name of the agency, as a brand new vehicle whit 0 kilometers and I pay it in cash I hope you can help me because they dont want to respond. Thank you.

42 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

My fuel gauge in the car show no fuel at time and then 1/2, 1/4 or zero tank, check engine light is on, I have had the check engine light checked and was advised that it is the gauge in the fuel tank.

43 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 02/25/2017

Low fuel light stays on regardless of fuel level. This is an ongoing complaint on this model and needs to be recalled for the safety of drivers. The gauge has been moving periodically but now has stayed at a constant "empty state" with the warning light on. Luckily we were able to fill the tank. We now are going to move it the tank from using g the trip miles.

44 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 02/23/2017

About a month ago the check engine light illuminated. I had about a half tank of gas at the time. While waiting on a passenger the fuel gauge went to empty. I thought perhaps I had a leak, but didn't notice or smell gasoline. I went to the fueling station and filled up. It only took about 7 gallons to fill the tank. When the tank gets to aprox half full the needle will travel to empty. I have searched for a recall, but found none. When researching the recall I noticed that this is a very common problem on these Santa Fe vehicles.

45 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 02/08/2017

Intermittent failure of fuel gauge sensor caused fuel gauge to show fuel empty caution light to come if the tank was empty or not empty. Have run out of gas because of this issue. Have seen online many complaints about this problem with 2007 Hyundais. Because of the extensive problem, Hyundai should recall this and bear the cost of this expensive repair.

46 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

My car started to displayed the fuel tank as empty when is not. Upon turning on the engine, the gas gauge light is on and the fuel tank is displayed as empty. The gas gauge on occasion also sporadically fluctuates up and down, regardless of how much gasoline is in the tank.

47 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 01/09/2017

Fuel gauge not working properly, it will go from showing there is gas in the tank to completely empty, then back to gas in the tank. This has lead to the check engine light coming on. I don't want to get stuck out in this cold weather with an empty tank due to a faulty fuel gauge.

48 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

Fuel level sensor failed at 65,000 miles. Fuel gauge oscillates, no way to know how much fuel is remaining. Significant danger of vehicle cutting off while driving because fuel tank empty without driver being aware. Other automakers have issued recalls for this problem; Hyundai needs to fix this known, potentially dangerous issue.

49 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 12/20/2016

Brought vehicle in to shop for front end noise. Found needed front brakes, pads, rotor, caliper. Repaired the items. The shop also noticed and stated "has a fuel leak at the tank (should be a recall"). I don't find any recall here. Any suggestions? I'm not making a complaint, just need to know if this is a recall. Thank you.

50 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 12/10/2016

1) fuel tank gauge is inaccurate. Starts to drop rapidly after driving 75-100 miles and empty fuel tank light comes on after ~125-150 miles. When I refill the tank, it is only half empty. Normally, car will drive 270-320 miles before empty. 2) check engine light comes on and off. Nothing seems to be wrong with the car(have had it checked. ) 3) esc light comes on and off; sometimes at the same time as the check engine light, sometimes by itself. I have had it checked, no problem; and reset. Goes on - off again a few days later. These events have been occurring over the last 6 months, approximately.

51 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 12/04/2016

Faulty fuel sensor gauge. When trying to fill an empty tank the pump shuts off after only a couple of gallons. If I wasn't paying attention I would have thought it was full. I've seen complaints that the fuel gauge stops working on this car at similar milage, if that happens too I won't know how much gas is in my car. I could then run out of gas while driving and lose power steering. This is an accident hazard.

52 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 12/01/2016

The issue started shortly after my vehicle surpassed 60,000 miles. Upon turning on the engine, the gas gauge light is on and the fuel tank is displayed as empty. The gas gauge on occasion also sporadically fluctuates up and down, regardless of how much gasoline is in the tank.

53 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 11/02/2016

My vehicle has had a fuel gauge that would move up and down while car is still. Today the check engine light came on with a code p0464-fuel level sensor. The fuel in vehicle is at half and the gauge would go all the way to empty (with empty light coming on) then it would go back to half and move every now and then. The vehicle is at 83000. So far the the gauge is somewhat working but is very frustrating knowing that this can be a $500 repair since it will involve the gas tank. This can make for a bad situation if the gauge completely fails.

54 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/29/2016

The contact owns a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. While the vehicle was parked or being driven, there was a strong fuel odor coming from the vehicle. In addition, there was fuel leaking from the rear of the vehicle. An independent mechanic stated that fuel was leaking from the seam of the fuel tank and the fuel tank needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 138,900.

55 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/24/2016

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe sport. While the vehicle was idling at a stop sign and a stop light, it shook and vibrated severely. While accelerating at highway speeds above 55 mph, the suspension was unstable. In addition, the fuel tank would be full at 381 gallons and would decrease to 360 gallons. The dealer (pantili Hyundai, 720 oakvale rd, princeton, wv 24740, (304) 425-8203) was notified of the failures. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but they were unable to replicate and diagnose the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

56 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/19/2016

Fuel sensor does not work when idling or driving! fuel gauge shows empty when full. Digital display does not show distance range. A real hazard to not know how much fuel is in your tank. This is a basic need in an auto or an aircraft. This basic need should be the manufacturer's responsibility. The many blogs and forums on this issue show repairs of from $300 to $900 for fixing what shouldn't need fixing. I'd hate to have my wife or daughter stuck on some road after running out of gas. If you can check the online forums for validation and have Hyundai recall this safety issue it would be wonderful.

57 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/11/2016

Fuel gauge shows empty tank, when tank is full. Check engine light on, but is intermittent. Risk is that vehicle runs out of fuel with no notice.

58 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/10/2016

While driving, "check engine" light illuminated. "low fuel" warning light illuminated. Fuel gauge indicated nearly empty even though tank was close to half full. Check engine" light always illuminated.

59 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/03/2016

The contact owns a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact noticed a fuel odor inside and outside the vehicle. When re-fueling, the fuel leaked out of the fuel tank without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

60 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

A problem is regarding fuel gauge failure /check engine light. Check engine light comes on ,goes off ,fuel gauge register on empty with light indicator anytime tank is less than full.

61 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

Fuel level gauge becomes erratic and does not indicate correct fuel level in gas tank. Recently "check engine light" came on and diagnosis by mechanic was "fuel level sensor a, circuit intermittent". This is a very expensive repair and should not occur on a vehicle at this stage. I have now become aware that this is an extremely common defect in the Hyundai Santa Fe line of vehicles.

62 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 09/20/2016

My Santa Fe stay over nite, inside my garage and I notice very strong odor of gasoline every time I open my garage and after I look under, I spot a drop of gasoline on the passenger side between a plastic cover and the fuel tank, while is park over nite, while I am driving I am afraid that something happen, like people trowing cigarette but and cut my car on flame. After I read other people recent complaints I decide to stop using my Santa Fe, I think this is a defect from Hyundai to create a fuel tank that holds water and salt between the tank and the cover.

63 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 08/28/2016

I want to join the many others who have launched complaints on this and other websites about the faulty fuel gauge sensors of the 2009 Santa Fe. When I fill my gas tank, the fuel gauge only registers at half a tank and the low fuel light comes on. Now my check engine light is on. When I brought the vehicle to auto zohn to have the engine light checked, it does, indeed, come up as a faulty fuel level sensor. Hyundai is obviously aware of this problem as evidenced by all of the consumer feedback, yet it has failed to do anything to assist. Unlike their counterparts at Toyota, Volkswagen and Chrysler, it shouldn't take a tragedy for Hyundai to step up and address this safety concern.

64 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 08/13/2016

My 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe began having issues with the fuel gauge over a month ago. Every time I fill up the tank, the gauge will go to "e" and the "low fuel" light comes on, despite a full tank. At times the meter would starting moving up towards "full" but then bounce around. I understand it's close to $!000 to get this fixed - but I have read about so many other Hyundai Santa Fe uses with the same issue that I believe a recall should be in place. Currently I'm just driving locally and I just fill up every time I take the car out, but on the highway for long trips that is very dangerous. Very surprised there is not a recall with the number of complaints about this.

65 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

The check engine light came on and the gas gauge was not working properly. On 7/27/2016 I took the vehicle to the dealership and they replaced the fuel senders. On 9/9/2016 I took the vehicle back to the dealership because when the gas tank was full, there were very strong fuel fumes inside the vehicle. The maintenance rep stated that they checked it out and made sure everything was sealed properly. He also stated that it was probably the fuel tank purge valve for when the weather is hot the gas will expand. In eight years this has never been an issue. Now it is November and there are still gas fumes inside the vehicle. I am now taking the vehicle back for a third time. The fumes are so strong that nobody can sit in the back seat of the vehicle. Even when the vehicle is sitting in the garage overnight, there are strong gas fumes present.

66 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

2007 Hyundai Santa Fe fuel gauge floats from full to empty. Bad sensors. Cost to replace is nearly 1000. 00 considerable safety issue, as you never know precisely how much fuel is left in tank. Asking for recall.

67 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 06/08/2016

Takata recall . Gas gauge shows empty even when tank is full. I ran out of fuel on the highway and almost had a rear end collision . Gas gauge showed I had 1/2 a tank of fuel . I was stationary in the middle lane on I-77.

68 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 06/02/2016

The contact owns a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while driving, a fuel odor emitted in the interior and exterior of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank was rusted and leaking. As a result, the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure and the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 06v317000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 94,000.

69 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 05/25/2016

Fuel sensor shows gas level erratically both on gauge and digital display, usually when fuel level is below 1/3 left in tank. Check engine light also then displays erratically. This happens only when vehicle is stopped in traffic or in parked position with engine on. Happens only ,so far, in stop and go traffic and not on the hwy. Has been occurring since may 2016 with 105,000 miles.

70 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 05/24/2016

About a month ago my engine light kept coming on and every time I filled the tank with gas the car wont start unless I keep the foot on the gas while turning the ignition key then I have to switch the gear to drive with a foot on the brake and one on the gas. I took it to the dealership and had to replace the purge valve and the purge hose. Not even a week I went to fill the tank and my gauge dropped to empty and while I drive it starts to go up and down constantly it is hard to tell how much gas you have, I notice is very common on this make and model and year. This should be a recall since it is a safety hazard.
