Purchased new 2025 hybrid awd Santa Fe with 47 miles on 8/3/25 at 6pm. By 6:30am on 8/4/25 I noticed an occasional knocking when coming to a stop, reversing, turning and at times driving forward. The knocking became more frequent and noticeable as the day went on with more driving and not once did a service message or warning light display. At 1pm on 8/4/25 with an added 100 miles, I drove it to Hyundai service department to have them diagnose the issue which they immediately heard. After 8 days, I was told it was a control arm issue which them lead to a complete suspension rebuild on the driver side. I could have lost total control of the vehicle due to the bad control arm. They claimed the passenger side was fine and I picked up my car on 8/12/25 4pm. By 6:30am on 8/13/25 the knocking was back and car is pulling to the right. Car is back in the service shop to further investigate the knocking. I believe Hyundai is trying to cover up this issue as the service report they initially gave me had no mention of the control arm or suspension rebuild. I refused to sign and asked for another service report stating what the issue was and how it was repaired.
The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while stopped and making a left turn from a cross street, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and traffic allowed the contact to make the turn; however, the steering wheel jerked to the right, and the vehicle jumped over a median strip. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the right front passenger’s side tire rolled over the median strip, and then the rear passenger’s side tire next. The contact depressed the brake pedal, and the vehicle stopped in a parking spot on the side of the street. The contact shifted the vehicle to park(p) and turned off the vehicle. The contact observed that the right front passenger’s side tire was flat. The contact called roadside assistance, and the technician informed the contact that there was a cut on the inside side wall of the front passenger’s tire. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the passenger’s side front suspension arms and other parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the vehicle was difficult to steer while the steering wheel was vibrating. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer, who removed the aftermarket parts and replaced the parts with oem steering and suspension parts; however, there was still a vibration in the steering wheel. The contact stated that several times, while turning to the left, the vehicle would turn to the right instead. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
The undercarriage is completed rusted and is not drivable, I had the treatment done by the dealer to have it coated to protect it from rust. Well, its rusted.

Engine has always burned oil and vehicle only has 72,000 miles on it. Leaking black liquid/oil out exhaust pipe, blowing out black clouds of smoke and have to keep adding oil. Whole rear end had to be replaced, timing chain and cover replaced, ac unit replaced, rear camera replaced, climate controls change settings by them selves, leaking gaskets, all this and more has been going on with this vehicle when it only had 35,000 miles on it. Front suspension creaks for years. No way a vehicle should have all these issues with low mileage and has been very well cared for!.
There has been an ongoing issue with oil consumption and engine failure with my car. The engine didnt give any indication of running hot on the dashboard. It just shut off while driving. I've been to the dealer a few times with no help. On 8/4/2024 my car cut off in the middle of traffic with my daughter in the car twice. It took 3 hours to cool off in 90 + degrees heat. Oil wasn't in the spark plugs but they keep getting shorted out. Oil burns and the engine stalls. I have to replace it which I did but my car shut down. We could've been in a bad accident because it wouldn't drive off immediately. We were stranded on a 2 way country road. This is all horrible because again, we could've been involved in a bad accident on the road we were on. After 5 1/2 hours it finally started and 2 people had to trail me home.

We had notice that my wife's 2024 Santa Fe hybrid calligraphy awd, is shuddering and vibrating at low speeds 20 to 40 mph always. Probably now is a little more accentuated. There is nothing on the steering wheel, but in the whole vehicle. Because this is not new, and I am not always driving this vehicle, I need your assistance as soon as possible.

We brought our vehicle into the dealer for a recall for undercoating on 10/26/2023. The work was completed by tarbox Hyundai in north kingstown ri. We noticed our car started drifting to the right and our tire was out of align. We brought the car to our local mechanic and were told that the entire under carriage is rotting away and needs to be replaced. I feel Hyundai should be responsible for this because they knew about it and didn't tell us. Instead they just did the undercoating trying to hide the fact that is was completely rotted. Thank you.
I bought my 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe brand new and have been the sole owner. It has been garaged the entire time. It has 145,000 miles and I have kept it washed and maintained regularly. The last couple of times I have taken it in for repairs, the mechanic has told me that the frame is rusting badly to the point that it is a safety issue. In the event of a crash the frame could buckle.

At any speed period, if I hit a pothole or those little ripple things on side of the country county roads, any of them causes my vehicle to jerk and makes a a sound like the entire right front end is going to fall apart at any moment and it either jerks my vehicle off the road on the right side or it either jerks the vehicle into the opposite lane towards on coming traffic. My truck has caused me to go completely off of the highway into the grass to avoid a collision. . . And anytime I hit the most tiniest of bumps it sounds like the entire right side suspension is going to fall completely off and at high speeds it shakes uncontrollably. . .

On January 30th 2023 we made an appointment to take our 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe sport to our local dealership in newmarket ontario canada due to a clunking in the front end of the vehicle. On inspection our 2018 Santa Fe sport was identified as having a broken coil spring on the driver side. Along with this inspection it was also noted the passenger strut/shock had been leaking and was out of fluid. The newmarket Hyundai dealership considered this to be an emergency repair. This was determined because the coil and or both coils could totally break and puncture the front tires. This information I obtained from the Hyundai recall 167!!! although according to the recall seemed to be only in America we truly believe our 2018 Santa Fe sport in canada falls into the same category of the Hyundai recall 167. It has cost us a considerable amount of money as I personally am on a disability government pension as well as my wife is also on a fixed income retirement pension. As for our last 3 brand new purchases have been nothing but Hyundai vehicles for their reliability safety and long lasting enjoyment!!!! that being said we are a little disappointed that this front end coil spring shock/strut issue has now made us scared of what could have happened because of this defect that does not seem to apply at the moment in canada. We were certainly hoping to purchase at least 1 more Hyundai SUV product or a Hyundai vehicle with continued reliability safety and always a pleasure to drive product. Unfortunately this occurence has caused us a considerable amount of doubt now as we were truly scared for our lives after the issue was diagnosed by the Hyundai dealership. My wife and I would truly like to continue to believe in the Hyundai product of vehicles but are now extremely concerned about reliability and safety at this point. According to the diagnosis there could have been a catastrophic incident!!!.
Rusted out subframe, less than 95k miles. No “salt belt” treatment offered to this vehicle. Vehicle in ohio since bought. Took to dealer for engine recall, found $1200 subframe replacement bill. Car was garage stored all of the time.

My horn isn't working as designed but when I push on steering wheel feels like it's cracking or breaking behind it. My front axels from factory were out of balance causing a vehicle vibration from 80+km/hr. Dealer thought it was tires not driveline. Different dealer diagnosed it as both axels in front. Issue was repaired once parts were available. Vibration still is evident but think its tires. Trying to get Hyundai to replace tires now as its consequential damage. In November 2023 I was involved in a accident where the front collision warning and assist system didn't engage properly as when it did inwas in the danger zone already. And when I applied the brakes the steering became stiff as to mimic loss of power steering. I couldn't turn out of the accident and couldn't avoid it. Have video of this on my dash cam. I have a warning light rhat comes up on my dash saying check turn signal dealership verified. They have ordered the icu junction box (fuse panel) but its been on a back order. Till February now. But no stored codes ever stay on my ecu or bcm.

When my daughter returned home from college this summer I took her Santa Fe to a local shop for an oil change and other preventive maintenance. During the vehicle safety inspection, the mechanic noted the subframe and front suspension components were failing due to excessive corrosion and the Santa Fe was not safe to drive. My question is about the effectiveness of campaign 947 - underbody corrosion prevention service. The countermeasure to the Hyundai subframe rusting issue appears to have not been an effective action to prevent the subframe's failure. The corrosion preventive service was completed on our Santa Fe on Feb 13, 2018. Given the amount of corrosion on our Santa Fe, the service campaign was not effective, and the subframe failed due to corrosion. Both the independent shop and the Hyundai dealer indicated that the failed subframe would eventually lead to a catastrophic failure and possible loss of control of the vehicle. Given my daughter drives the Santa Fe from home to school on i70 I am glad the failure was identified early so the car could be repaired and prevent an accident.

When im driving down the road and the slightest bump is on yhe side of the road, the truck feels like its not connected to the framing or the wheels or something because when I hit the bump it jerks the wheels to the right and that's the only side it does it on and it does it so abruptly at times it almost pushes me into another car or it jerks the steering wheel out of my hands. Im not sure if theres a recall thats causing this or not but my mom has a vehicle like mine but a 2011 model and hers does the same thing on the right side.
There was a problem with the steering, so thought may be my wife hit a pothole found out the sub frame was severely corroded rusted and falling apart. My family could seriously got hurt. There was no accident, but there very well could have if she continued to drive ,there has to some form of responsibility of Hyundai add vehicle since it was brand new only 67,000 miles.

The rear and drive unit is having issues loud popping sound when driving this is a major safety concern, and seems to be a huge problem across the board as I’ve been reading about on Hyundai forums.
Engine will randomly cut off and it would do that even when in drive like it wasnt getting gas. The dash board would light then continue going would start right back away and has done that ever since. I purchased it I also had the O2 censor replaced as well. The tires are awful the suspension. Electrical problems I have to hit my headlight to come on before I leave when it's dark. Sometimes when I first start driving it pulls me to the right not like wheel balancing . But pulld then back to driving . One last thing I went in for recall update or something. The mechanic say hell do the update and drive the car if it has a problem going in drive they had to replace a sensor or something my car wouldn't move they were going to fix it and give me a loaner car . The guy said let me try something he did then the car started to drive. They were supposed to replace something and didn't. My engine light came on and stayed on I complained to him he just cleared the code it came back on and has been on every since. I told him it want on before I got here he said well it wasn't from anything they did. But it was.
The engine throttles while accelerating and leaks oil and a burning smell comes from under the hood. The smell passes through the air vents and fills the car. I am afraid it might catch fire under the hood. The suspension makes noise and can also feel on the steering wheel. I will appreciate the company if they take safety measures in fixing this issue.

While I was driving home, I went to make a turn and I heard a cracking noise and it felt like the steering wheel went one way and the frame was going the opposite way. I drove very slowly to a service station and when they looked at it they said they couldn't believe I drove the car without getting into an accident, they said the car was undrivable because the frame broke, they went on to say it was due to rust. I'm a 2nd owner and when I called the Hyundai corporate headquarters they informed me there was a recall #947 Santa Fe underbody corrosion. I was told I should've received the recall when I received the new registration, I never received the recall, where do I stand with getting my car repaired, is Hyundai responsible to do the repair, I left a message with the service group at the dealership and haven't received a response yet.

Whenever I hit a bump on the side of the road, the truck jerks really badly and if im not grasping the steering wheel with all my strength, it will jerk me off the highway from the bump making the entire car go off the road. Also, each bump I hit, I hear a very very loud metal on metal knocking sound from the right passenger side of the tire area. Not sure if it is a strut assembly or engine mount that wasn't correctly bolted down during manufacturing. Also, when I press the gas pedal, it sounds as if theres some type of cable thats being stripped or something. And whenever I am holding the steering wheel straight and firmly, the truck automatically has a mind of its on at times and will jerk the car to the right or to the left while im holding the wheel still. All mechanics have said that they don't see anything wrong with it but there's obviously something wrong with it and I am scared to drive it. It has got to be a manufacturers defect on those components of the vehicle. Please remedy this or replace my vehicle with one of the same or lesser valued cars . This truck is going to end up killing me or someone else or both . . . Thanks.
I live in roy city utah and I drive a Santa Fe 2001 and my trailing arm in the rear driver side snaped while I was going 45 mph. When I took it in to a shop to have it looked at they said that my trailing arm had snaped do to the rust corrision under the car. I know that there are recalls on the Santa Fe for the rear suspention trailing arms but only if you live in a salt belt state and utah is not one of those states and I think it should be because of the salt we use on our roads as well as I live 20 mins from the great salt lake . I have bearly had my car 5 months befor it broke I paid 2000. 00$ for it. I guess I didnt fully understand the saltbelt state thing and I called young hayndai in ogden utah and they called a tow truck and had my car towed to the dealer ship they had it like 12 days or something befor they diganosed it. When they said that its not on recal because of the salt belt state thing they are trying to charg me 274. 00$ just for them to tell me what I already knew was wrong with it and for the towtruck. Because of my broken car I just had lost 2 highpaying jobs and I have no money to pay the dealership so they said that I cant have my car till I pay them then they said that they can only hold my car for 10 days . Idont know what to do cause my Santa Fe was not only my only ride but its where I lived. So now im back to sleeping in the street and I dont know where or what the dealership has done with my car. Please help me and order a recall on my Santa Fe because of the rust from living utah and all the salt here. Thanks for your time.

On delivery the vehicle pulled to the left on the highway. Vehicle returned to dealer next day and 4 wheel alignment supposedly done. Car no longer pulled to left. Vehicle seemed very unstable in wet weather but owner assumed it was ok. At 3000 miles owner discovered all 4 tires wearing severely while adjusting tire pressures. Called dealer and dealership wanted a month to get back into service dept. Took vehicle to a local tire dealership for wheel alignment check. Front tires toe was -2 degrees. Rear tires plus 1. 7 degrees. Owner parked vehicle when driving in icy weather became too dangerous as vehicle would try to spin out without driver input. Alignment assumed to be off from factory and dealer staff only corrected what they thought was wrong with front tires instead of doing a full re-alignment.

I bought the vehicle 2 months ago, and 2 weeks ago, I noticed the car was shaking when I applied the brakes. The engine light came on and I took it to the shop, and was told I needed a new engine.
Front coil spring rotted and broke while driving vehicle. 2007-2011 vehicles had recall for this but the 2012 did not. Broke after 115k miles which is not excessive.
Sway bar and struts continuously malfunctioning causing brake system to fail quickly. Engine more than 5qts a biweekly causing the maintenance numbers to malfunction. Seat belt light keeps going on and off even when in use. These problems are causing a safety risk due to them failing and can cause harm to driver/drivers on the road. Electrical issue has the brake lights malfunctioning and cause harm to others as well. Vehicle has been inspected by Hyundai dealership . Seat belt light continuously come on and off.
This vehicle has only 25,000 original miles on it, and I am the original owner and bought it new. In separate incidents, several months apart, first the right-front coil spring broke, with a piece falling out and nearly puncturing the right-front tire. Several months later, the same thing happened to the left-front coil spring, with the broken piece damaging a front c-v joint boot. Both incidents occurred without warning and, thankfully, happened at slow speed with no subsequent crash or accident. These failures, however, if they happened at highway speed, could have been disastrous due to causing a punctured tire, or a broken c-v joint, or by making steering/controlling the vehicle difficult. With both failures, the vehicle became hard to steer and the front suspension made loud banging sounds when trying to turn, both of which prompted me to immediately stop and have the vehicle towed. Both of the failed coil springs and associated parts were replaced by my local Hyundai dealership's service department and thy retained the replaced parts after the repairs. Hyundai did not offer to cover these defects, so my 3rd party maintenance agreement and I had to pay 100% of the repair costs.

The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while reversing out of his driveway at 1 mph, the front end on the passenger’s side of the vehicle collapsed almost causing the wheel to detach. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. There was no injury sustained. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the control arm and ball joint had shattered. The contact stated that the vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting the arrival of the replacement part. The manufacturer was contacted and provided the contact a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
I read the recall on vehicles of my type and it sounds like the issues I have been experiencing. I’m thinking the car was recalled and repaired ineffectively before I got it. The brake fluid is leaking with no obvious fix, I’ve taken it to a few mechanics to check.
The rear trailing arm cracked in half causing my wife to run off the road11.
Hi, so my mechanic checked my vehicle and my the subframe is rusting and it’s unsafe to drive the vehicle. The vehicle only have 93k miles. I have pictures and proof about the rusted subframe. Hope to hear from you back because I really need vehicle to go to my job and now this is unsafe to drive.
On 9/22/21, was driving on a major highway when gears started spinning loudly, acceleration went down to 30mph from 65mph, car started vibrating and smoke coming from the exhaust. Made it safely to the next exit without incident by a prayer and slowly made our way to a Hyundai dealer at 5-10mph, any faster would shut down the car. We barely made it and tow truck came and towed it to original dealer that sold it to us. Previously we told them about the recall update but it went on deaf ears from the dealer and Hyundai. Now we don't have a car, and most likely needs a new engine.
While driving up a steep winding road my car began making a fluttering noise like a paddleboat. There was a lot of play in the steering wheel with a small squeak to only the left, in the play of the steering wheel. The dealership has let me know I need to replace the steering shaft. What actually makes the steering shaft go out, isn't that a component that has a long life? the noise was more intense driving up the road than going down. As reached a city level the drumming noise was still happening, but inconsistent.
