The contact's friend owns a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while a friend was driving at approximately 55 mph, the vehicle began to veer off to the right without warning and the driver began losing control of the vehicle. Despite the failure, the contact's friend was able to drive the vehicle to her home at slow speeds. Another friend was able to inspect the vehicle and discovered that the rear passenger’s side trailing arm had fractured due to severe corrosion. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 09v123000 (suspension) which he linked to the failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were both notified of the failure and he was informed that his vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

My wife was accelerating to 45 mph, the vehicle began to swerve left to right rapidly. There was no warning indicator illuminated. She coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred. She noticed that the rear passenger side wheel was almost touching the inside of the rear fender. She was able to limp it about a mile home to driveway. She contacted Hyundai & they told her to tow it to closest Hyundai dealership & reap suspension problem will be fixed under recall. After we paid to have it towed to dealership it was diagnosed that the rear trailing arm was corroded and almost broken & needed to be replaced. The dealer service technician called my wife the next day to inform her that her Santa Fe rear trailing arms had not been replaced by Hyundai. She immediately called Hyundai to speak with person that told her to have it towed to dealership. Hyundai opened a case number for her Santa Fe. Hyundai called back couple days later saying they had researched her Santa Fe under recall campaign 090 and that it did not qualify being that it had not registered within the 20 salt belt states required for recall. Hyundai case worker said they were not going to repair the Santa Fe under recall. & Hyundai was closing the case. After a very extensive search on the Santa Fe frame corrosion recall she discovered that the frame corrosion recall had been expanded to include every Santa Fe within the 50 states, although Hyundai did not send notices to anyone unless the Santa Fe had been registered in the 20 salt belt states. With this new info she has been trying to contact the Hyundai case worker to re-open her case. As it stands her Santa Fe was towed to Hyundai dealership where it sits in back lot untouched & undriveable. After closer look at trailing arms both sides are rusted completely out. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly; 3 - VIN cor. . .
A car in front of me lost control and I braked to avoid an accident but the car turned and had no stability, forcing me to maneuver it to avoid crashing by leaning on my neck.

The v6 2017 Santa Fe SUV is advertised in many car magazines and by Hyundai to tow 5,000. Lbs. I told the sales manager the specs of my camper. He said it would not have a problem towing my camper that weighs 3,200. I said if you get it prepared for towing, meaning, hitch, brake box and wire for lights, I will buy it. The deal was made. I towed a few times then had a bad shaking in the rear. The service manager tried to tell me I was towing too much weight. Impossible. It's just me and a small dog. I argued with allen turner Hyundai in pensacola, FL and the corporate office. They believed what the dealership said. I told them I can go weigh it all on dot scales to prove it. So they ended up fixing it that time. I didn't tow for awhile because of covid. The first time I did, on the way home it started shaking. I go to the dealer. He told me the right rear passenger tire was separating inside. It would need alignment and struts. They were not going to pay for it even with the car with low miles still under warranty. They offered me something off their used lot. Which I considered if it had the safety features that I originally bought on my Santa Fe. No, they offered a basic small truck. I'm older and I have gotten used to the safety features. The salesman talked down to me, tried to intimidate me and practically called me stupid. I was supposed to see the service manager but he dismissed me . I've bought three cars from this dealer using the same salesman. Then when I have a problem they treat me like this. I have testimonies from other camper trailer haulers with the same car that even tow a higher weight camper. They have not had any problems. I will attach photos of theirs also. Thank you vicky eubanks when I'm towing it all sounds good and works good. I wouldn't know the camper was back there.

2007 sante fe limited, sage grey one owner, garage kept, maintained regular basis, low mileage 84,000, interior and exterior in excellent condition with a kelly blue book of $4200 to $4600. Purchased at lauren Hyundai in glenview and maintained at Hyundai lincolnwood, IL along with my regular mechanic. I learned yesterday that the right rear of sub frame rusted out with a both front frame rusted out and has a hole in it. It's a know issue by fed, NHTSA, series of recalls and dealer rusted out frames, sub frames and other part repairs and replacemetns. The 2007 treatment didn't work and the same issue is all over the internet with class action suits. I've also read low and high mileage cars within 2-10 years have same issue but must be covered under warranty. They resolved the older ones by spraying them one one recall and didn't upgrade their sub par parts for us cold weather salt belt states. I now lost the value, cant sell it outright and the car is deemed unsafe. I'd like assistance getting this looked at and repaired. Yes old but in great condition mechanically with a vital part of the car not code for chicago from the beginning with a continued issue up to today. Cars that were new and a few years were getting them replaced. I that even safe after the repair? I still have value in this car and I shouldn't have to forfit from gross negligence on Hyundai motors on a vital part of the car. I was considering a trade but now find out its a major safety issue for many models. I'd like to get this looked at, repaired or work out some type of solution. Any assistance you can give me is greatly appreciated. The dealer said it's old and acted like they had no idea. Thank you.

Prior to contacting NHTSA we contacted Hyundai and informed them that the bottom of the vehicle has rusted through and we can see the bottom of the interior in this vehicle when the car is on a lift (this was pointed out to us by a third party repair shop and not the dealer). It appears that Hyundai may be concealing data from NHTSA regarding corrosion problems on its vehicles. What is clear is that Hyundai is shirking its safety obligations and will not cover corrosion, regardless of whether it is functional or safety, if the warranty has expired. Based on prior dealings with NHTSA I know that recalls are not limited to the warranty period if vehicle safety is in question. When we contacted Hyundai, their excuse for why the vehicle had a massive hole in the undercarriage was that the vehicle is driven primarily in illinois and illinois uses salt on the roads in winter. If I'm not mistaken, more than half of the vehicles in the us are driven on roads that are salted in the winter. This excuse is simply not acceptable and perhaps NHTSA needs to prohibit Hyundai from selling vehicles in the northern half of the us if this is going to be Hyundai's attitude. I've never had this problem with any other manufacturer.
Front right strut spring released from the mounting with a loud bang and was rubbing against the tire. This happen while driving at 30 mph. The tire was damaged. I have replaced both front struts.

Nothing has happened so far, my complaint is that every 4-6 months, I need to buy parts for my Santa Fe. It starts with a knock on the right front end of the car. I need to get to work, so I take my time getting there. I also was about to get on the highway, and the spring broke on the on ramp. I see all the horror stories about this model Hyundai with issues with the front end . I can send you repair bills of what parts have been replaced over the last 5 years.
It had 124 recall NHTSA 14v43500 I call Hyundai off government site told them about 124 and broken spring they set up appointment so they only put on brackets but no spring wanted $1004 for the strut spring on they told me on call center they replace spring as it said on NHTSA site they would not do it call back to hyundia as number on government site they made a case number 16604156 amber at 714 594 1764 she said spring was not in recall I send picture of it before up there to dealer she had no clue what was so I dont who right on recall she said government NHTSA site are not correct brown leesburg Hyundai leesburg va 20176.

The rear end of my Santa Fe has rusted through and the back wheels will not track in a straight line. Hyundai had a recall nr 09v123000 in 4/16/2009 to fix this exact problem but according to Hyundai customer assistance, this recall does not apply to me because my Santa Fe wasn't purchased or registered in a specific state. My grandson was driving the car and nearly wrecked. Hyundai wouldn't even offer a tow into a dealership to inspect the problem.

Rear trailing arm corroded and busted while in motion. Caused rear end to collapse and fishtail. Passenger side snapped, drivers side is very corroded. Just purchased this car a couple weeks ago, had no idea these parts were unstable.
I have been hearing a clanking sound since I have bought the vehicle used mid November 2019 . The sound seems to be coming from the back passanger side wheel area it appears to be getting worse and feels like the back passanger side wheel is about to fall off anytime the vehicle is in motion . And looks very rusted out.
Our mechanic has identified significant corrosion to the driver's side rear trailing arm, a safety and operational vulnerability consistent with NHTSA safety recall notice 09v123000. The NHTSA safety recall observes the danger of the rear trailing arm fracturing, and increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. We have contacted the local dealership and the manufacturer, Hyundai, about the safety vulnerability, resulting from the latent manufacturing weakness. As detailed in the attached file. The dealer service department is indifferent to the faulty vehicle part and safety vulnerability, and no response has been received from the manufacturer. We are attaching photos of the rear trailing arm corrosion consistent with the manufacturing failure identified in the NHTSA safety recall.
Broken coil spring. Could have collapsed onto tire while moving. Garage found the problem and had it repaired with new quick struts.
When accelerating between 30-50 mph, the steering wheel pulls violently to the right. When the accelerator is released, the tension on the wheel goes away. The front tires wear faster then unseal.

Finally got Hyundai to replace my rusted subframe engine cradle (took almost 8 months to get parts) and after they had the car for 2 days, I went and picked it up. Everything seamed okay, but apon starting the vehicle and shifting out of park into drive, there is a loud clunk when letting off the brake to start moving. Also when backing out of my drive, going from park to reverse the same sound happens. The sound also emits when going from drive to reverse and vise versa.

I've had the brakes replaced, alignment done, rotors checked, and it still shakes like something isn't right, and it's scaring me, I'm handicap, and I feel like my front end is gonna come apart or my car is gonna flip, when I'm driving down the road it's doing just fine but when I go to press on my brakes to slow down my car is shaking like I'm going through an earthquake or tornado, and it also seems to have this problem like when you push push the gas to get speed so you could jump on the highway it like jerks a little better she is a little hard to be able to catch up and it's never done that before.

Approximately one year after having the car I began to notice issues. (18000) I have returned to the dealer for multiple repairs. The most significant issue is the toe. The vehicle will not stay in alignment and is wearing the tires unevenly causing tires needing to be replaced way too soon. After having the car aligned I will have to take it back within a week or so for another alignment. I travel between houston and austin frequently and this is a huge concern for my safety. As you are aware replacing tires is very expensive and pointless if the car will continue to wear unevenly. I have sent a certified letter to Hyundai but have not received a response.
Knocking noise underneath the front passenger side while driving.
Abs tcs tracking system turns out while driving.
I can hear a strong rubbing against the tire when I come to slow down and stop.
Noticed my vehicle was pulling to the right and just felt wrong when I drove, took it to a mechanic to check the alignment and brakes (because it was time for pads). The mechanic was shocked to find the strut on the passenger side had rusted and broken completely. Hyundai was going to charge me to check it out and repair because I was outside of my warranty. The mechanic told me to check for a recall since it was not a common issue, there was not a recall so he suggested I file a complaint.
"takata recall" my driver side front wheel feels like it's gonna fall off all the lug nuts are tight.
Rear driver side trailing arm badly rusted.
Well my vehicle has experienced the abs issue that has been recalled on other 04 Santa Fes as well as the corrosion from road salt to the coil springs. They are corroded and have completely snapped. My car is within the years and model for those recalls but it is not included in that recall, but I my vehicle is having those exact issues addressed in the recall.
The truck smell like burn and is not give power and feels like shaking and pushing.

Front springs rusted, call recalled due to undercarriage rust, rub against tire, very dangerous hyndai of turnersville has vehicle now waiting to see if Hyundai corporate will fix this issue free of charge.
The contact owns a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that the frame was rusted and could potentially fracture. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the vehicle could fail an inspection due to the frame needing to be re-welded. The dealer (tarbox Hyundai, 3665 quaker ln, north kingstown, ri 02852, (401) 826-1500) was contacted. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was excluded from NHTSA campaign numbers: 14v435000 (suspension) and 09v123000 (suspension). The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.
The front coils of the vehicle were totally deteriorated and could have led to an accident. I noticed that earlier models were recalled due to this same condition. I paid ~2k to have this problem fixed and the garage stated the coils should have lasted to 120k miles. Hyundai has subsequently issued extended warrantees for their elantra vehicles of which we own one. I am concerned that this defect could affect more cars than Hyundai has identified similar to the engine recall situation that was recently repaired.
