Seven problems related to automatic transmission have been reported for the 1999 Hyundai Sonata. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving close to home my Hyundai Sonata 1999 started pulling to the right , getting more severe by the minute. I decided to go home. By the time I got home the front right wheel was leaning towards the outside of car. I took the wheel off and discovered that the lower front control arm separated from the frame because of severe corrosion in the sub frame of car.
At any speed engine check light came on and stayed on. Vehicle had problems shifting into gears, and stalled. Vehicle was taken to the dealership on numerous occasions, and the mechanics were not able to fix the problem.
Consumer coud not get engine to start on less shift was on second gear. Then, drove vehicle to dealer. They said that transmission failed for the second time. Please provide more information.
Recall repair work was not done due to scheduling problems.
When accelerating transmission does not shift properly (downshifting occurs), more when air conditioner is on.
While driving at various speeds vehicle would start to jerk. Would need to downshift to compensate for jerking. Would stall out intermittently. Guages would stop working. Have taken vehicle to dealership, and was informed by mechanic could not locate cause of problem. Mechanic did not test drive vehicle.
Air bag light remained illuminated, indicating a malfunction within the system. Cause unknown, also consumer experienced intermittent problems with transmission. Please give any further details.
