2 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2016

"tanaka recall " this has happened on multiple, intermittent occasions. When decelerating, the steering wheel "sticks" in the straight-ahead position. It becomes very difficult to turn & navigate a highway exit that curves. You have to fight with the wheel and pull hard to make it turn, at which point it feels like the wheel "unlocks" and turns freely again. This is truly a safety concern. I have taken it for service several times , and they did not find anything wrong (now that I see others have had this issue, I plan on scheduling service again). I have had to replace upper control arms on both sides in front due to the squirting sound evertime I go over hole or speed bump and the passenger side is slowly hanging. I too had issues with the esc and jerking and pulling not long after I purchased the car, but those issues weren't addressed or fixed by the mechanic. (after many trips to the shop & several accidents later) my Hyundai Sonata 2007 needs help.

3 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2014

This has happened to us on multiple, intermittent occasions. When decelerating while exiting a highway, the steering wheel "sticks" in the straight-ahead position. It becomes very difficult to turn to the right to navigate a highway exit that curves to the right. You have to fight with the wheel and pull hard to make it turn, at which point it feels like the wheel "unlocks" and turns freely again. This is very unsafe. We have had our mechanic inspect it more than once and because the issue is intermittent, they haven't been able to find anything wrong. I've searched online and found several other Hyundai owners telling tales of similar occurances of this problem.

4 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2013

Case no. [xxx] I purchased my 2007 Sonata from the denville, NJ dealership in may 2007. With only 38,000 miles on odometer I had the scare of my life¦. Driving on the highway, the engine died, and I lost all power. The ¿¿check engine¿ light came on. Thankfully, I was able to pull to the shoulder of the road and safely stop the car. After 2 minutes I tried to restart the car. It started and I drove it home with the check engine light still on. I checked that all fluids were ok. Next day driving to work, coming down a long grade, car engine died and again I was fortunate that I did not get into an accident. I brought my car to a aaa service station and reported the problem. They checked and informed me that the problem is due to the throttle position sensor,(tps) which they found a tech service bulletin describing the symptoms and condition. They gave me a copy of said bulletin. They noted that even if they installed the part, I would have to have a Hyundai dealer perform ecu software update. Therefore, I brought the car to the dealer and had them make the repair. I expected that this would be a ¿¿recall¿ by Hyundai, as failure of this part could be life threatening, as it was in my case. They said they could not honor any warranty service and I was charged $252. 24. I requested and received the replaced part. . I am rasked Hyundai motors of America to show good faith to a loyal customer, by reimbursing me for the costs associated with this known failing part. . Their response:" TSB are not recalls. Dealers are made aware of these and are asked to perform them on affected vehicles when they come in for other service. I vehicle outside of warranty, then the repair is an out of pocket cost to customer. They apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. " they refused to reimburse me saying this part was not a recall. How outrageous of them!.

5 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2013

Wandering - this is a continuing problem - not an incident. On straight, level roads steering needs continuous correction to stay in the lane. The alignment was adjusted in February and again in July 2013.

6 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

This has happened on multiple, intermittent occasions. When decelerating while exiting a highway, the steering wheel "sticks" in the straight-ahead position. It becomes very difficult to turn & navigate a highway exit that curves. You have to fight with the wheel and pull hard to make it turn, at which point it feels like the wheel "unlocks" and turns freely again. This is truly a safety concern. I have only taken for service once, and they did not find anything wrong (now that I see others have had this issue, I plan on scheduling service again). I have had to replace my driver's side visor due to the spring breaking and the passenger side is slowly hanging and will probably break too. I too had issues with the esc and jerking and pulling not long after I purchased the car, but those issues were addressed (after many trips to the shop & several highway scares) and finally repaired.

7 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2010

While driving down the freeway, car pulled to the left. It is still doing it to this day. Had to take the car back to the dealer after the dealer did a brake job at 77000 miles. Had to argue with the dealership to redo the rotors after paying money for a complete brake job. The dealership finally agreed to redo the job after a long argument. I am still having problems with brakes today. When making a right turn, can hear grinding noises. When backing up and coming to a complete stop, can hear grinding noises. I have had this car in for brake service many times. I hear noises from the back and front suspension that has been going on since 2009. After having the dealership change every gasket in the car because of leakage, I have been hearing tapping noises in the car, reported it to Hyundai motor, but they have ignored this. When I called the dealership after they fixed the gaskets, the gaskets leaked again and they said it was not their problem. This car is junk and it needs to be taken off of the road. Corey and david hagood.
