On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, I was at a traffic light when someone motioned to speak to me in regards to my driver side brake light being out. I proceeded to drive to my dealership to get it changed out knowing it was probably just a burnt out bulb. The dealership service personnel informed me that the whole socket where the light bulb sits in had melted. This caused alot of erosion in the bulb socket and affected the wiring as well. I feel deeply that this can cause a fire considering the light bulb busted and caused the whole inside of the socket to melt. I payed $150. 00 to repair the socket and wiring to fix the problem for now. I was told it may not last long. I'm hoping this problem doesn't linger and create more problems. I am very concerned on how these light bulbs pop and melt everything. I would like this to be treated as a safety issue. Please help me resolve this issue. Thank you for your time and have a great day.
I parked my car after coming from work, went back out to change my brake light that was out, after I couldn't change my bulb because its toasted to the harness, I tried starting up my car which it did, but my shift lock was locked on on park and my traction control came on and I have no brake lights.
My headlights and rear lights and brake lights keep going bad, there is a problem with the lights staying on some kind of electrical issue.
The brake light explodes every couple of months.
This issue has been going on for months now. And I have driven around seeing many other Hyundai Sonatas with he same issue. When I hit my brake, the brake lights will not go out. I have finally figured out how to get them to go out (pulling my brake upwards with my foot). This has resulted in my lights staying on and my car dying a few times. It is a very dangerous problem as others are not able to tell when I am braking because my brake lights stay on wihtout putting my foot under the brake and pulling up on it.
Rear brake light on the drivers side was working intermittently and now will not work at all. I was not in an accident and no damage has occured to the part. It just stopped working. This is an led and is not supposed to go out according to gm. Gm is aware of this issur and will not fix it.
I pulled out on to a 4 lane highway and the engine stalled and the car coasted across. After a few seconds car regained power and went on but still losing power. When driving on interstate car keeps stalling at high rates of speed. When I cut on lights while driving car stalls/loses power for a few seconds then goes on. Brake lights aren't working all the time plus 3rd brake light keeps sticking. I need answers to this before we get seriously hurt!!!!!.
My vehicles brake lights continue to have electrical problems. Sometimes the brake light works, and sometimes it doesn't.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the brake light bulbs were fractured and melted, and there was a burning odor. The contact previously purchased several replacement bulbs. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to holler Hyundai (1150 n orlando Ave, winter park, FL 32789, (407) 628-4343), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 193,283.
The brake lights on my 2011 Sonata will not go off. I have contacted Hyundai and they have indicated this is not an open recall however I can not drive my car without brake lights working properly. Stationary, in motion and on a street and highway. The brake light will not go off.
Over the past year I have had to replace all my lights(front, tail and brake lights) consistently without warning. When grease monkey changed them recently, the mechanic stated that the wiring was very hot, and looked melted. Issue #2- when driving my car without notice, my lights inside will come on as I turn a corner or hit a bump. I have to turn them off in order for them not to come by themselves. Issue 3- my horn likes to work sometimes and other time, it will not sound. All my fuses have been checked many times, and no issue can be found. When I try to operate my radio from my steering will it have a mind of it's own. If I hit the volume up, it will activate the bluetooth call. Sometimes if I try to raise the volume to the radio, it lowers. Issue 4- when driving, and once I take my key out of the ignition, it's extremely hot. I really feel that there is a serious electrical problem in this car, and it needs to be addressed before something serious happens.
I purchased this vehicle March 2018, I have spent unnecessary money on headlights and my back brake lights. I've spent 180. 00 replacing my harnesses due to my bulbs melting inside of my harnesses. My car smells of wires burning inside of my car. It's multiple people driving these particular cars and I've noticed their Sonata's have the same issues with the lights. . . I have people that drive the same car pulling me over or pulling beside me asking if I have trouble with my lights. You guys need to really recall these cars back in, my car shouldn't have a burning smell.
Steering wheel making a cracking noise when turning or hitting a bump. Also driver side rear parking and brake light wiring is loose. This is happening on both my daughter's 2011 Hyundai Sonatas right now.
I have been trying to communicate with Hyundai in regards to my electrical with my lighting, I have informed them that my back brake lights have went out at least every month changing them no less than twice a month a long with the head lights, now the part that holds the bulb has totally melted and you can smell the burning and they said that is not covered I have burned myself on this trying to evaluate the situation so I guess I will have to burn in the car after the wiring has completely melted everything else in the vehicle.
I've replaced my both my headlights and brake lights at least 4 times within the last 6 months and have been told by the faulkner Hyundai dealer that there is not an issue. There is no way that I should be replacing it so many times, there has to be something with either a fuse or electrical issue.
2011 Hyundai Sonata limited 2. 4l. Left brake light out for the forth time. . But, this time the new bulb replacement wouldn't fix the problem. I had to have all the recalls fixed, so I made an appointment with the closest dealership an hour away in terre haute, in. The very next day. After they fixed one of the recalls they had to reschedule me for the following day to do all the rest, as they stated it would take most of the day to do. So, the next day my partner following behind me noticed that now both my brake lights were completely out! we again reported the brake light situation to the dealership upon arriving at 8am and dropped off the car. At 5pm that day we called to check on their progress and they stated that they were finishing up on the recalls but that the wiring harness on the brake lights had all melted together on both sides! and, they were unable to fix it until the next day. Ugh. . Then, quoted me $523. 23 to fix it! I've read countless people complaining of this same issue and wonder how many accidents this has caused. Dangerous and absolutely ridiculous! this should be covered in a recall.
I have replaced more bulbs than I can count on my car, headlights, brights, brake lights, it seems like I have replaced a light every week just about, long with my lights randomly cutting on/off, flashing, blinking, not working at all. My horn also will sometimes go off uncontrollably sometimes when my keys are not even in the car. My battery is constantly dead. These are huge safety issues and have been blown off buy the dealership every time I have tried to get the issue fixed. Have had multiple recalls for these issues and each time the problem has gotten worse. I have been pulled over several times for lights being out and have been stranded at night because of no headlights. Seems to be a huge issue with these cars and I have been treated rude and made to feel stupid every time I have contacted Hyundai about the issue.
Both my rear left and right brake lamps keep burning out constantly, even though I've replaced the bulbs many times. Every time I change them, it is very hard because the connector seems to have melted to the housing lamp. When I talked to a service rep from the dealership, he told me the wiring harness was poorly designed, and I would need a new one, which isn't even covered under warranty. This is a huge safety issue, as brake lights are required by law, and if they aren't working properly, they pose a huge risk to driver and those around him. If the wiring harness is really to blame, Hyundai should own up to their mistake and replace it under warranty, or the NHTSA needs to make them do a mass recall for the sake of everyone's safety. I cannot keep changing the bulbs and replacing the wiring harness systems with faulty designs and risking getting fix-it-tickets. I've even tried buying more expensive led bulbs that produce less heat, and they still go out after a short time. A short search from other reports shows many others with the same issues.
Had my 2 front tires changed, after they were charged the brake paddle locked up and the push button starter will not start the car and I have no brake lights. The only way to start the car is to press down on the brakes while pushing and holding the starter at the same time for about 60 seconds , the car will not move out of gear unless the shift release lock is pushed. I have no brake lights.
2011 Hyundai Sonata is very unsafe. I have had to have brake light recall fixed at least 3 times and the brake lights are still going out. The horn has completely gone out. The engine shuts off at random times leaving me stranded in unsafe situations. The takata airbags still have not been replaced. Car is very unsafe to drive; Hyundai needs to buy back all these vehicles.

Brake lights do not work when I cut on my lights.
Brake light wires run too hot while car is operating and causes bulbs to burn out a day or two after being replaced. Plastic seems to be melting and may be able to cause a fire. Brake lights go in and out while driving as well which may cause an accident.
In 2015, 305,000 sedans 2011 and 2012 recalled due to issue with brake assembly that prevent the brake lights from shutting off and causing the bulbs to blow quicker than normal.
The back drivers side brake light keeps burning out. This has been occurring for several months and I have replaced the bulb too many times to count. I finally took the car to the dealership who told me the wiring was bad and can cause the light to melt or fuse together. I researched this problem online and note is a common problem among the Hyundai cars. I have 2 kids, still in car seats, and can't take the risk of the brake light wires catching fire. I am hoping this issue will be researched and a recall implemented.
Interior light comes on without opening doors clicking in the steering collar motor has a winning sound and the brake light some times just blink off.
Brake light went out, opened break light compartment , light bulb was melted inside of socket, took to dealer said it was normal. How can this be normal? ? could this have started a fire, was told not covered under my warranty, 250. 00 later.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While driving 65 mph, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle stalled. In addition, the brake lights remained illuminated. When the contact pressed the push start button, the engine started without the brake pedal being depressed. Brake lights would not turn on.
2 weeks ago I bought a pre-owned 2011 sonota GLS with 69,000 miles, from drivetime. I asked for a car fax report which they provided something similar but their report only showed one recall on the vehicle which was recall number 143, regarding the eps problem. So for a week I looked into all the recalls this vehicle has but it was past the 5 day return policy by drivetime. We figured if it was a recall then it would have to be repaired by law, right? so I put my VIN # in to verify that indeed my vehicle was part of numerous recalls, so I scheduled an appointment for recall 132 at vandergriff Hyundai in arlington, TX. Before they even looked at the car they said that campaign was "closed" & said they couldn't assist me any further. I asked them what does closed mean, does that mean the engine block was replaced previously or not? they just said "its been done," nothing more. We've had this car two weeks & already my girl has got a ticket for the left rear brake light being out which I've replaced 3 times now, the car for no reason pulls to the left which could cause a possible head on collision, & the engine & transmission both sound that they are on their last leg. Finally, I received a notice in regards to the extended warranty 10yr/120,000 miles which I was thinking we can get it looked at that way, but then after a series of questions I was told that our vehicle does not qualify for this warranty due to the vehicle we just purchased 2 weeks ago has issues. I told the rep I thought all of the 470,000 vehicles that were affected by the recall automatically was given that warranty? I want the info on what was done to fix/repair the vehicle on each recall & why are we being told all the problems we are having with the car now have been "closed. " there's no way this vehicle has been repaired because we still have all the problems & symptoms explained in the recalls.
Brake light assemblies on the car on both sides are deteriorated/melted. And the brake lights do not work all the time. They go on and off. The lamp assemblies are "worn " according to dealership and need replaced at a wopping 600 dollars. The truth of the matter is the vehicle is only 5 years old and their defect in material or workmanship is the result of this problem and they refuse to fix this under warrenty. They vehicle only has 85,000 ish miles on it and there is on way this assembly should have problems. Due to them just putting a recall on the brake pedal stopper and having it fixed today I am sure this is all linked together somehow. If I hit a bump the breaklights stop working then I wiggle the bulb and it starts working again. Their are several of these same complaints the internet. This should be placed on the recall list too. This can be very dangerous and the poor quality of cheap parts should be replaced.
Over the last 5 years of having this vechicle I have replaces bulbs after bulbs low beam, high beam, brake light, tag light and so on. When having brake light replaced it was brought to my attention that my brake light housing is melting. One of the bulbs was hard to take out because the plastic assembly was melted to the bulb. I find this very dangerous this may can even cause a fire and I have to young children that's with me all the time. I see others have the same problem but there has not been a recall yet.
Tl - the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the exterior lighting and the alarm system for the vehicle has malfunctioned. The right front headlight failed. The contact stated that the vehicle had not been repaired and that the issue had spread to other lighting and electrical failures. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000. Gl.
