The dashboard has several cracks and many others have reported the same problem on 2011 and other models. My concern is for the passenger side airbag since there are several cracks on the dashboard in that area.
My dashboard has hairline cracks in the areas by the air bags. I feel that this could be a compromise issue with the air bags. We had the same issue with our other 2011 Sonata. We replaced it because we sold it. Please advise me if I have a safety issue thank you deborah cirino.
Steering coupler recall needed! front dash crack randomly appeared I read it could be due to the damaged coupler. I had a wreck and my car was about $400 from being totalled. The insurance refused to fix the coupler and it is now my responsibility. It sounds awful and it is scary driving around with my steering wheel sounding like it is going to fly off the dash.
The dashboard over the passenger's side is cracking - vehicle has less than 90,000 miles on it.
Early summer of 2019, I noticed a small crack along my dashboard, coming from the windshield toward the seat. It was about 2 inches long. By August of 2019, the crack had grown to approximately a foot. I have contacted Hyundai and gone to the dealership and the only thing they would do is give me an estimate on repair. The odd thing about this is when googling this issue, it is quite common.
Dashboard has developed cracks. 70,000 miles and garage kept.
The dash has cracks all through it. These are deep cracks. I have had many cars and have never see cracks like these.
My Sonata could have killed or seriously injured me and every passenger that sat in it. In the first 6 months I had to replace a headlight and a tailight already and the a/c would have to be vacuumed and recharged which was about a $250 job. Fixed. In September I noticed my steering column would make an awful racket when driving over nearly anything on the road. I was shocked when I discovered there were six open recalls dating back to at least 2014. These ranged from faulty door handles to metal shavings in the oil that could cause stalling and/or dangerous sudden shutting off of the vehicle. October 5th I took the car to crain Hyundai of bentonville, in bentonville, ar. After 5 hours, they said I was good to go on the recalls and after $300 the coupler was fixed. Fast forward to December 2nd, 2016. Earlier in the day, while driving, I noticed my dashboard lights getting lighter and darker. At about 6pm that evening my boyfriend noticed the car making a "knocking" noise so he pulled over to check the oil and waited an hour and a half before someone could bring him some, giving the car plenty of time to cool and be good to go. He got going down the road only at about 25mph and got about 500 yards when the car made a "whoosh" sound and the engine shut off. He coasted into a driveway and minutes later the car was in flames. After unloading a fire extinguisher, it took the fire department cutting open the trunk to completely drown out the fire. It is now February 26th, 2017, I called Hyundai claims on December 3rd and have been waiting on the results of their investigation since. They have had the findings from the inspector for 6 weeks now and still no answer. I strongly urge everyone I know to do their research before buying anything with a Hyundai motor America emblem.
Was told the brake switch pad came apart. Also pedal stopper was involved. . Both incidents occurred as I was stopped at a light wanting to make a left hand turn when the car made a very slow movement to move forward, then stalled until I kept frantically hitting the gas pedal to get out of the way of oncoming traffic and trying to prevent getting hit from the back because my car wasn't expected to stop dead in its tracks. I called aaa who towed my car into dealership on n. E. 6th avenue in delray beach, florida 33483. The above parts were noted on my invoice. Due to the danger, I would absolutely put out a recall before someone gets hurt or worse. Parts no. 32876-3q100.
