My car has had numerous recalls. Most recently it was my steering wheel that was clicking and felt unstable. . . So I took it into the dealership. That is how I found out it was an issue with enough cars in this yr/model that the warranty was extended. I also was getting jolted when I shifted gears. Even if I was going from park to drive, I could be spontaneously jarred very violently. I had that repaired at a out of pocket expense at the dealership. Today I saw evidence online that it may have been a recall and should have been repaired for no fee. Another recall notice I received 2 days ago, so I called the dealership who said they see no necessary recalls for my vehicle. Yet, online it shows 1 recall on my car VIN# that is outstanding but had "no remedy yet" it is a very dangerous notice that affects the airbags on front and side plus seat belt restraining system in the event of a collision. So I am essentially driving a very pretty coffin.
Driving car and lost all power diagnosis showed nothing by my mechanic after Hyundai told me car VIN not on recall during on vacation engine died had to have it towed back to my from maryland was garage said engine bearing broke will cost me 7000 to my mechanic.
I went to the nearest Hyundai dealership to get some open recalls that I had done and I had like 5 or 6, many of which were very critical. I got a call next day asking me to come and pick up my car, which I was very skeptical about. They asked me to sign a paper indicating that everything is done. I asked if I can speak to someone to explain why this happened so quickly and if there's anything to worry about and they couldn't connect me with anyone neither did they ask for my information to contact me when that expert is available. Now about a month since taking the car to the dealership, I check my VIN online and to my surprise 4 of the most critical open recalls are still not closed or remedied. They involve problems with the engine, transmission, seatbelt, and brake pedal. There are all issues that could result in a fatal accident. I don't really know what to do because this is a matter of honesty. I should not have had to check for them to begin with. This Hyundai dealer is sunbury motors Hyundai.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving, the vehicle loss power and stalled. All the warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contacts home. The dealer: gossett Hyundai south 2660 mt moriah rd, memphis, TN 38115 was contacted and informed the contact that the warranty had expired. The vehicle was not diagnosis or repaired. The manufacture was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was estimated at 200,000. Hk.
I was driving on the highway and as soon as I got off I heard a knocking noise coming from the engine so I looked it up on the internet and it said their is a recall on the engine for that very problem.
Took car to dealership for engine recall check in 2016, was told my car was fine only to have the engine seize 12 months later while driving. Engine was replaced by northtowne Hyundai in kc, mo and car was returned after 7 weeks. Within a few days of driving with the new engine I heard a distinct whining at about 2500 rpm and noticed a steady leak due to spots on my driveway. I returned the car to the dealership who said that the leak was from the transmission and that they have no liability since the engine replacement did not cause them to have to actually touch the transmission since the two systems are completely independent of one another. Corporate Hyundai says that the powertrain (I. E. Transmission) is not covered under their extended 120,000 mile warranty and the cost of the repair is going to be an out of pocket expense to me.
Recall campaign #14v434000 was repaired in 2014. The identical problem is occurring now in 2017. I have no idea it the vehicle is actually in park because the indicator lights do not light up, so I always have to use the emergency brake. When I am in drive, I now have to ensure the doors are locked manually because the vehicle does not realize I am in drive and keeps the doors unlocked. On 8/28/17 I requested a service appointment and was told I have to drive this unsafe vehicle until 09/19/17 before I can bring it in to see if they can fix the problem. Also, on 8/15/17 I had a one-time incident where my brakes slipped. Luckily, the brakes have not slipped again.
When parking, the vehicle did not always go in park when shift lever was moved to "park". Shift lever position indicator on dashboard shows blank. When returning to vehicle, car would not start. Took vehicle to dealer, there was previous recall on Hyundai Sonata for shift lever problem but was told my vehicle has different problem. Dealer replaced "inhibitor switch" to try and correct problem. Looks like original recall did not correctly address the problem.
Car stallled while driving. Was able to restart it and continue driving. Happened again. 3rd time could not restart and engine started smoking. Mechanic says that the engine in seized and smoking was the starter.
I have taken my vehicle in recently because my car stalled a week ago while on the highway driving 55 miles an hour. After the inspection completed at Hyundai dealership, I was advised everything is okay to drive the car and we would like to complete an oil consumption test because they wanted to test out the engines consumption for what they think could be a safety recall incident. I drove the car for the first time on the interstate highway for about 85 miles since it was last in the shop, for what was said that everything was safe to drive, and I noticed today that my car started to rattle at a 65 miles an hour on i95 north in maryland- went I had to exit the highway because my car had caught on fire underneath the hood and engine of car and the scar stalled. Smooth entered cabin of car and fire department was called. Car was not able to be driven and was very unsafe after I was told I was okay to drive it.
Hard shifting into drive and hardshifting into reverse, when vehicle is stationary and shifting it into drive or reverse. Transmission has been replaced 2 times and proplem persists.
Second time reaching out and I have gotten no kind of help or contact. I keep getting told that because I am stationed overseas that I can't be helped. I am active duty army serving overseas so you would think that the least that could get done is putting my safety as priority. The engine is on recall and I've already almost gotten into an accident because of it!!!!.
Engine is bad 100,923, engine siezed like all the others.
I brought my car in for this recall and now months later the airbag light indicates a problem. I was told that seat would need to be replaced for $1200. This car has been nothing but problems.
When vehicle was moving it felt like went into a coast but rpm did not increase speed slowed. . Gas peddle was pushed in nothing happened when peddle was released and then pushed all functions resumed.
Car losses power in the highway under 55 miles per hour. When starting from stop or yield it does not take acceleration and almost dies . Almost got in acccident several times as the car doesnt want take gas. More like a suden stop in a trafic. . Airbag light is on for more than a year. Brake lights dont work and is not the bulbs. This is becoming almost everyday problem and dealer dont have solution to the problem but I was told it is a known problem for this model. Pls do something about it.
Electronic gear shifter sensor would not always work so it wouldn't always shift or would jerk.
Gear shift display on dash board goes blank after shifting from one gear to the next desired gear (I. E. Car is in reverse and put into drive, d appears than disappears) or while trying to shift (I. E. Car is in park or neutral and shift car into drive and the display goes blank without d appearing first). After the display goes blank, the car feels as though it is going to stall and check engine light appears. Putting the car into park and turning the car off and then back on does not fix the issue right away. After waiting a few minutes with the car off and turning it back on fixes the issue with the gear shift display temporarily but check engine icon remains illuminated.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the gear shifter was defective. The contact was unable to shift the gear out of reverse or into drive. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 88,605.
Ii had a recall on several things on my car. Took the car back to dealer I bought it from had the recall stiff done and two week later my starter went out. I informed them there was also a recall for the starter and they argue me down that it was not. Well several people I know with the same type of car year, make and model and they received an notice but when they took it in the recall was found. I had to get my car towed and pay for the repairs in the amount of $575. 00 at for they were trying to charge me over $700. 00. I should not have had to pay for a recall and now trying to find how to file a claim for a refund. My car stop on the street in front of my place of employment I got a jump it made it home and died again on the street call aaa and had it towed to dealer.
My steering wheel has become increasingly loose and shaky over the past months when driving or stationary. There is a very distinct (and getting worse over time) "clicking" or "knocking" sound when I back up and turn my wheel either way. I was told by my mechanic that something is wrong with my steering gear box/shaft sector and possibly some of my axles. He told me this was dangerous, and that the recall campaign number 097 should cover me. However, I was told by Hyundai that my specific car does not fall under this recall, even though I my car has the exact symptoms of the recall. I was also told that because of recent recalls, my warranty would be extended. However, Hyundai has now told me that my warranty extension only covers the sole engine, and not the axles though they are part of and covered by the initial engine warranty. Hyundai has told me there are "kits" to fix these problems, but I have to pay over $1000 for the kits to fix, even though these were faulty parts by Hyundai. The Hyundai service manager I spoke with told me flat out that my car had faulty parts, but that the kits could fix them. I asked him whose fault it was that they were faulty, and he said that all car companies deal with this and it wasn't because of my driving. But even still so, I have to be the one to pay for Hyundai's faulty parts and non-existent recall help. I'm beyond frustrated after reading so many reviews and forums online of people with the exact same car symptoms as mine who are unfortunately also not covered by the recall. If I cannot get a better response and answer from this, I will be contacting the main lawyer who others have also contacted about this and filing an official lawsuit. I expected way better from Hyundai and am disgusted and disappointed at the lack of service, truthfulness, and integrity from this company at this point.
After taking my 2011 Hyundai Sonata in for engine recall my steering wheel is now making noise and it moves to the left on its own now. Also my right axle is leaking grease and the car has about 69,000 miles on it. I bought it new. Hyundai dealer said the noise is coming from a coupling and would cost 270. 00. They also said it was not part of the recall for steering column intermediate shaft which I took the car in for when that recall came out. I dont know what they do or if they do anything when they supposedly look at your car due to a recall. My car was doing great when I took it in for the recalls until the last time. Also when I took my car in for engine recall my oil dipstick was yellow. But now I have an orange oil dipstick. Back to the part about the steering noise it makes noise sitting still and moving and sometimes it gets louder if the road is not as smooth. Also how do they know it is the coupling and not something else such as what the recall was for when they just listened to my car and not inspect it to be sure. The coupling should have been included in the recall and if not it needs to be recalled. This sounds dangerous. The noise also gets louder when I turn the wheel while driving. Sometimes it sound like the car is rattling and sometimes sounds like a shock absorber starting to go bad.
Vehicle in motion randomly turns on check engine light for a second, will hesitate and then suddenly surge as if trying to catch up. Transmission seems to be the main issue.
Tinging sound comes and goes while driving, erratic shifting multiple gears, oil light comes on with moderate acceleration, there is a recall on this but I do not have the number. Recall on engine. Ii have been to the dealer who claims they are not able to replicate but will not allow me to drive with them.
Tinging metal sound while driving. Immediately after start it dies, oil light comes on moderate acceleration, shifts erratic and hard in multiple gears.
Car makes a loud clicking noise in the steering column when going over 60 mph and when slowing down. When parked, there is also clicking noises when turning the steering wheel. When in reverse, it makes a clicking noise when turning. Gas gauge doesn't work. It now will run out of gas when there are "60 miles" left until empty. The cruise control button will not work. You have to keep pressing it to come on. Also, the button to see trip miles, trip a, trip b etc, does not work on the 1st try. It takes many pushes to get the screen to change.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Ad.
Recently purchased a vehicle. Didn't get a proper test drive. Turns out the car has major defects especially in the steering. We figured out that this vehicle had defects while in motion on a city street.
While driving at 45-50 mph, on highway, experienced catastrophic engine failure and other significant component failures, resulting in a very dangerous situation for driver, passengers, surrounding traffic , noises, smoke caution lights loss of power and control. Immediate evasive action had to be taking to avoid injury or loss of life. Once at rest, vehicle continued to smoke immensely. Low mileage, very disturbing and concerned for others driving these ticking bombs! Hyundai needs to address this issue with more strength and direction.
When the car is going up or down inclines (both slight or steeper inclines), the car stalls and when the accelerator is pushed, nothing happens for several seconds which is obviously problematic when entering or exiting highway on and off ramps, or trying to merge. This has occurred on local streets as well as on a highway. I have brought it to two dealerships and paid their diagnostic fees and they have been unable to tell me what the problem is. This is my family's main car and I have been unable to drive my children in it, because the stalling puts us at a huge risk of being rear ended.
Loss of engine power due to turbo waste gate control rod out of specs which happens every time there is a change in weather every time weather cools down or heats up check engine light comes on and code give is turbo waste gate actuator malfunction and engine losses almost all of its power makes it difficult to move out the way at highway speed and its is a sudden loss of power it happened last year when winter rolled around then it happened again this year when summer rolled around and now fall is here and the problem is back and Hyundai wants to charge not only the adjustment fee but the diagnostic charges as well the first time it happen my car had about 30000 miles second time it has 54000 and now the car has about 84000 miles on it.

On a couple of separate incidents, the gear disappear. I was driving on d, the gear was on d, but after several miles the gear disappear. I pulled over to park the car, I put the car on reverse, but the gear was not visible. I turned the car off and turned it back on, I could see the gear then. This has happened a couple of times. A couple of weeks after this happened, the car did not start at all. The car ended up starting after it was towed to the dealership. Apart from this issue I've been at the dealership for several other issues. Starter, axles, the key ignition switch, sensors, etc. It's been very time consuming and expensive.
Car began making a loud noise took it to dealer and they said it was engine failure - would have to replace engine at a cost of $7,000. Towed it to a certified mechanic for second opinion who said - may be able to just repair piston and not entire motor - cost could be up to $3-4000. Vehicle now sitting in our driveway - unusable - can't afford to pay to have it repaired - still paying on loan.
