The parking and brake lights will not turn off when I turn off my car. This is resulting in the battery dying constantly and I am not able to lock or secure my car.
The vehicle slows down on its own and will not allow me to rev up even when pressing the gas pedal down. Also the light for traction control turns on and the brake lights stay on all day and all night whether the car is on or off.
Could not start car parked in the garage, and fault drained battery. Warning lights said do not operate car hybrid system not functioning. Have car towed. Also had brake waring light light up on dash. Had to have car towed. Good thing this did not happen when driving but when trying to start the car. Dealer reported that abs module failed. 57,200 miles on vehicle. Repair cost estimate is over $3,200.
When driving the car makes an awful beeping noise and says hybrid system malfunction safely stop and do not drive and the brake light is on in the dash. While all brake function is suddenly gone and I have to stop with the e-brake. This happened both on the city streets country highways and freeways at random times. I was told it was the hydrolic brake pump. This has been happening since November.
Loud beeping alarm goes off, the power behind the gas pedal starts to decrease and breaks start to make a terrible grinding sound. The screen says to stop so I have to pull off to the side of the road. Even after I turned the car back on the yellow (!) sign was still flashing and the beeping alarm started again. The screen says hybrid system warning. . . then changes to check brakes. The red emergency brake light is on constantly. It has done this 3 times in past 4 days.
I noticed the brake lights were still on after the car was parked and turned off in the garage. On further inspection the brake pedal switch stopper had disintegrated and was no longer depressing the switch. The vehicle could shift out of gear without pressing the brake. I did not feel safe driving the vehicle until this was repaired. This was supposedly replaced in 2016 under a recall for a similar failure. I drove a separate vehicle to obtain a replacement part and the problem is now fixed. There was no warning before failure.
When I purchased the vehicle in September of 2020 I noticed every once in awhile when I push on the brake the brake light would come on and the panel felt very spongy. I took it to the dealership and they fix the light they told me the brake pedal feel was normal. But kia and Hyundai have a recall out right now it does not cover my car but from what I've read of the recall it sounds like that's what's happening to my car. The pedal feels very spongy it always feels like it's going down to the floorboard when you press the brake.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and was very firm. Additional effort was needed to depress the brake pedal. The brake warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle was shifted out of park to drive without depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 15v759000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the VIN was not available to perform a VIN search. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.
The brake pedal dosnt retract and the brake lights don't work and this condition drains the battery at night while it's parked.
The abs light keeps coming on and off. The brake lights will stay on. Today my brakes just locked up as I was driving down the road.
This started may 1, 2020. . . Rear brake lights constantly stay on when car is turned off, seatbelts airbag light came on 2 days thereafter on dashboard, then esc indicator light came on 1 day thereafter on dashboard.
Brake lights will not turn off, causing other drivers to think I have my foot on the brakes. Also, they do not turn off after I park the car and remove the key from the ignition. I have looked this up and it is a major complaint, but no recall on my vehicle. There was a recall in Jan of 2016, but not on my car. It was for the brake light switch plunger.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated after being pulled over by the police she discovered her right tail light was not illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local auto shop to replace the bulb however the new bulb did not work therefore the old bulb was placed bak in. Also the contact stated the brake light stays illuminated. The dual failures reoccured. The failure mileage was unknown. The contact referenced the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 15v759000(service brakes, hydraulic) however VIN was not included tp.
The brake lights are remaining on even if brake pads are not being depressed. While driving or in park. The car also will stall while driving down the road.
The brake lights keep burning out every couple months. You can check from my VIN that I have only serviced from local Hyundai dealership since I bought it from them. I researched online and this problem is affecting many Hyundai models. Basically, the brake light socket is so hot that it burns and melts the light bulb. This is really a fire hazard. Why is there not a recall yet on this problem? over the past year, I have replaced my light bulbs like 4 or 5 times. Please take a look into this. It will save a lots of people.
Brake peddle sticking not releasing brake lights to turn of in rear. Which caused a shortage. . In electrical wiring that shorted out whole dash system and security including power windows glove department etc. Issues when brake light was not releasing transmission was jumping to gear of reverse and drive with out my control.
Cars brake lights are continuously lit even when engine and driver has turned off the vehicle and left. The dealership said that that is a big problem with the Sonatas. They called the problem TSB/stop lamp switch. This vehicle has the same problem either stationary, moving or engine & key turned off. It also shows signs of engine hesitation when first moving.
Brake lights are stuck on all the time. Pulling up firmly on the brake pedal turns the brake light off, but it turns back on as soon as I stop pulling up on it.
While driving and pressing the accelerator it acts as if its not getting any gas, so when I remove my foot and repress it, it moves right along. It has happened 2 times in the last 24 hours. Now, I exited the car and went into the house and the brake lights are still on.
I believe my car has been affected by the NHTSA campaign number: 15v759000 brake pedal stopper pad deterioration I have noticed that when the brake pedal is not being pressed, the brake lights do come on and stay illuminated preventing accurate communication to rearward following vehicles that the vehicle is slowing or stopping. Additionally, I have been able to shift the the transmission out of park without depressing the brake pedal. Lastly, when this all occurs while driving my vehicle loses power as off I am pressing the break. This has occurred while driving on the street, highway and while turning.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact noticed that the brake lights illuminated while the vehicle was not operating. The vehicle was taken to Hyundai of new bern (2910 us-70, new bern, nc 28560, (252) 637-0007) where it was determined that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact was not aware of the vehicle being repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 15v759000 (service brakes). The approximate failure mileage was 109,515.
I have to change my bulbs every other month it seems like because my brake/tail lights keep burning out. . Also my emergency brake light on my dash will not turn off now. I took my car in last week for engine recall and now my emergency park light will not turn off. Mechanic checked brake fluids and it was fine, but I didn't have this issue before I dropped my car off for repairs.
I have had to replace brake light bulb every month for the last 3 years. They have gotten hot enough to melt the hole you insert them into and then cannot be taken out because the heat made the hole smaller.
Takata recall I was driving in carrolton, GA one evening and was pulled over by an officer and was told both of my brake lights stopped working at or around the same time he gave me until Nov. 27th, 2018 to get them fixed. I was at first replacing the bulbs and they would burn out. I started calling around to different shops to get them fixed and they were all telling me the same thing. That is has become very common with my car( Hyundai Sonata) and that I had to replace the whole system. I found out that is what I have to do and a total of $500 to get both done. I missed my due date to get thwm fixed because it wasnt a simple replace the light bulb fixed and required more money. If this is true why haven't there been a recall on the brake lights? brake lights are very important and unsafe if that are not working hence why it is against the law. If most lr all your cars are having this problem you should be the ones to fix this problem.
The brake lights are remaining illuminated when the car is turned off and when driving. Rear drivers may not know that I'm stopping or driving because the lights are always illuminated.
While driving in motion or after driving briefly after a complete stop. The emergency brake light may come on, or the actual brake lights would start to flicker for no reason. The rpms on the car would drop very low and then rise over 3000. The vehicle would then decelerate and not allow to go higher than 25 mph. The engine also makes a knocking noise. This has caused two near accidents ,one being t-boned by another vehicle and another almost being hit in the rear of the vehicle by another vehicle. This has been stated to the local dealership at least twice and they state they cannot find anything wrong that would cause these issues. The vehicle has been taken to taylor Hyundai of augusta each time to be inspected.
My car is not starting up. When I push key start and press the brakes the lights on the dash comes on but the car wont start. If I wait a fews hours then it will start. I have waited as long as 5 hours in a parking garage. The car reads "key not in vehicle". I have gotten new batteries for both key fobs. The first time the car did this after a few hours later it started and I didn't have an issue for about 3 weeks. Since that time the car has not started on 3 other occasions. I had to have it towed to the dealership. They said I needed the fuel injectors cleaned. So I paid to have that done and then the car started every time for one day. The very next day the wouldn't start again in my driveway. After an hour it started and then the next day it did the same thing and my daughter missed work. When the car doesn't start all the lights and radio come on but the car just wont start. Every time this has happened the car has been stationary. I cant leave my car running while I go to the store because I'm afraid it will not turn back on. I have read article about this same issue from other people with the push start vehicle.
On 6/16/18 my car brake light caught on fire. Prior to this incident we had trouble with the brake light we got a ticket for the lights staying on. The light would sometimes not turn off or not turn on. Then the car seem to be working great again. I brought the car 3 months ago hoping that it would be great on gas, last me at least 20 years, and that it was a great car to keep my family safe. Next, thing I know people are flashing their lights and beeping their horns and acting strange trying to get me and my fianc's attention. When we both looked back we saw that the car was on fire while we were moving 45 mph down the highway. We pulled over all of the bystanders helped us put out the fire. When it was finally out the light had melted off and the only thing that was hanging was what was left of the electrical wires that attached once was the light bulb.

The contact stated that a trooper police have her coast to the side of the road and informed that her left brake light was not illuminated. The vehicle was later taken to college park Hyundai dealer, located at 9500 baltimore Ave, college park, MD 20740, (301) 441-1313, where the vehicle was diagnosed that the light bulb needed to be replaced. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic were a diagnostic testing was completed and was informed that the brake wires was burned causing electrical failure and needed to be replaced. The dealer (capitol Hyundai montgomery, 2820 eastern blvd, montgomery, al 36116, (855) 984-2840) diagnosed that the tail light assembly needed to be repaired, but they had not provided the repair. Larry puckett Chevrolet (2101 cobbs Ford rd, prattville, al 36066, (334) 223-4481) diagnosed and replaced the tail light assembly. The dealer stated that there was an internal electrical failure that caused the component to burn. The failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired again. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
Brake lights fail to light when needed. Also, the esc alert comes on intermittently. When the esc light comes on, the brake lights do not work. However, the brake lamps have not worked when the esc is not on. Seems related but not entirely exclusive. Do know that there was a brake lamp defect for the 2006-07 Hyundai Sonatas and there was a recall. This issue has not been resolved.
Failure of brake light switch allowing starting car in park and shifting to drive, with out pressing brakes. Same as safety recall on elantra. I bet it has the same faulty part .
My brake lights would not turn off, even when the car was turned off and the key was removed. Even though300,000 same model cars had been recalled for the same problem, my exact vehicle had not been part of the recall and I had to pay $250 to fix it. I called Hyundai (case 10974149) and was told that they would not cover the repair.
Hyundai had a massive recall 15v-759 for 2011-2012 sonoata (and other vehicles) for the brake pedal stopper pad. It was defective and wore out which made the brake lights stay on. For some unknown reason our vehicle doen't show up on the recal even thought it has the exact same problem, we took it to the dealer and they charged us to fix it. We called the Hyundai consumer affairs case # 10929935 and they said they could not help us. Why? it is the same problem and is a 2012 Sonata with the same defected break pedal pad! the brake lights stayed on and drained the battery.
Sudden unintentional acceleration on a highway going approximately 45 mph. Saw brake lights on vehicles and started braking. Suddenly, my vehicle sped up, catching up to the vehicle ahead of me. The front of the car was bobbing up and down, but not stopping the vehicle. I do not know how fast I was going when I finally hit the other vehicle. We both got out of our vehicles and to my surprise, there was no damage on either vehicle. (miracle) there was no police or tow trucks called. I was able to get my car home safely. My car will probably be sold by the time you read this. Also, there were no injuries. I was so nervous I did not know what kind of vehicle I hit or if there were other passengers.
