I have to continue to put oil in my car and get my oil change every 30 days due to oil leak. I have been to the mechanic and had my oil gasket changed, engine clean etc… and I’m still buying if oil and getting oil changes. I would get oil change and as soon as it gets close to 30 days my oil light comes on.
At low idle (stopping) car stalls out when stepping on gas. The rpms run extremely high and very low at idle causing panic. The vehicle also stalled at full speed on highway but all electrical was still working. Car tends to sputter and jump while shifting.
I took my vehicle to the dealership to have recommended service completed which included the fuel tank air filter. To complete this operation, the mechanic performed an m. P. I which showed that the fuel pump was leaking. I'm not an expert on anything, but I can't imagine a time that fuel leak is good. What's really concerning is that if I hadn't had the vehicle in for routine maintenance, this problem wouldn't have been found which could have led to catastrophic issues. I find it hard to believe that it's typical that a fuel pump fail with under 60,000 miles on the vehicle- who knows how long the fuel pump had been leaking. My tech at the dealership told me that they have seen this same problem with other 2015 Sonatas so I am certainly not the only one to experience this issue. I had to return the car to the dealership a few months ago for a recall that involved a fuel leak. I wonder if all of the fuel leak issues have been dealt with, fuel leak wise, with this vehicle. The sub total for this repair was $817. 66. Thank you, mark weir.
Heavy odor of gas in backseat and truck. Noticed odor in garage while parked and when driving had to roll down windows! I took to mechanic. He found a crack in fuel tank. My Hyundai had been at the dealership that week with them changing the oil and rotating tires but they did not acknowledge it! mechanic informed me that this could be a very dangerous situation and should not be driven. Dealership no help.
The vehicle has a very strong smell of gasoline and has been taken to the repair shop after spark plug flooding. Vehicle still smells like gas after repair but runs now.
First I backed up into a pole, because the warning sensor did not warn me. Even while changing lanes it doesn't always warn. . The panoramic sunroof detached while driving . I had to pull over . I had to put car in shop for just about a month. And then had to return it because the engine light came on . I have had to take it to the shop several times and I've only owned a year. My navigation never worked . Won't update. And blue link doesn't work right . Even though I pay it out of pocket. And now for no reason it smells like gas badly. Can't take it in because it's my only car and they never have a loaner or rental available. I've been to several hyndai dealerships.
High pressure fuel pipe is leaking fuel under the hood.
Vehicle driver received audio and visual alert while driving at high rate of speed that the "hybrid warning failed and to check hybrid system-turn engine off" and to pull over safely. However, the vehicle locked and lost all power making it impossible to safely exit the interstate almost instantly after the alarm. Upon research, I manage a large vehicle fleet, we have multiple other Sonata's with the same issue-and there is a TSB for this known safety failure (17-hc-003-1).
The car caught fire. I only had the car for 3 weeks. I had just started the car for work. There were no warning lights on. If some unknown guy have not told me to get out my car I would had died.
Was driving on sunrise highway doing about 55 mph when all of a sudden my car start losing all power acceleration and would not go pass 20/30 mph. Was able to get to side of highway. But now car has issues picking up acceleration. Could have caused a major accident.
The car suddenly loses the ability to accelerate making it very stressful to drive as you are not certain when this will happen. At first it is intermittent but eventually it simply stays that way once the issue begins while you are driving, hence the car will have an almost impossible time retaining speed on the highway or accelerating at a light or as you merge onto highways. Changing the driver mode to sport appears to have a positive effect as it causes much more aggressive gear shifting but it then stays in the same gear for too long reaching rps that feel unsafe for the engine itself. This is now the third tie this happens and it is also the more severe manifestation of the problem,. The first time the dealer asserted they were not able to diagnose it but returned the car without the problem. The second time it happened they apologized and said that it was an issue with the engines computer algorithm, that apparently the computer learns from the way in which one drives and so is adaptive but that sometimes it can become corrupted. This third time the dealer told me it would take only a couple of hours to fix but now it has been three days and they have not called me back. They did leave a message that apparently they are ordering parts and will be fixing it. My issue now is that its a third time and it is clear that something in the car is defective and now we are going to be almost completely paranoid of it happening again at a critically dangerous intersection or merge area. We have been lucky so far but it is a family car and I do not feel safe in the car anymore given the repeating nature of this problem and the lack of information out there form the manufacturer as to what exactly is going on.
Please refer to prior complaint #11505068 I want to add the fact that this vehicle's engine was replaced on or around sept 1, 2019. This dealer asked me who replaced the fuel pump, and I responded it was replaced by rick case Hyundai where the car was brought to with the seized engine.
While driving the vehicle I smelt and seen smoke and then a pop coming from the car and within seconds flames coming up from outside of the driver door. Pulled over and within 3 minutes the car was fully involved in flames. Was driving down a city street going approximately 35 mph.
My fuel filler door opener is not working. Hyundai has this recall for other vehicles but not for my model and year, this is clearly something wrong with their product and the want me to pay up to $500 in parts and labor?.
Applying the brakes at a stop requires the brake pedal to be firmly held to the floor otherwise the engine will start reviving up and move out fast if the brake is released. Also appears that the transmission when moving the shifter to park does not mean the car is in park. I did this once in a store parking lot. The shift handle was in park. But as soon as I took my foot off the brake and opened the door car took off. Caused $ 6,700 to fix all the damage. Engine does not come off fast idle. When I first got the car. Idle rpm was between 500 and 750. Now the idle never goes below 1200-1300 rpm. I tried various brands and grades of gas including ethanol free unleaded but nothing helped.
Vehicle stalls. Randomly. Acceleration stalls randomly. Engine dies parked randomly. Seems so decelerate/brake/. Drag while driving. Recall o comport n program only. Warranty for original owner only. Recalled made in. 2011-2014 Sonata my 2015 Sonata sport has the same engine.
Whenever I accelerate on the highway my engine would rev to a high rpm with a delayed reaction in order to get the car accelerated. Also, whenever I slow down my car for a stop light or stop sign, my engine would rev to a high rpm to slow down my car. I asked the Hyundai dealerships, they said the everything is okay, however I can tell right away there's a difference with my 2015 Hyundai Sonata vs my girlfriends 2015 Hyundai Sonata, exactly the same year and model and trim, but the drive is totally different. Also, I can also tell because the mpg on my car is far lower than my girlfriends. And she has a heavy foot on the gas petal. It doesn't make sense. The Hyundai dealership also reset the computer of the car, but no difference.
Engine burns 2 quarts of oil a week. Took it in for oil consumption tests and Hyundai figures out ways to not replace these faulty gdi engines. Also car has a strong gas smell inside car. Maybe gas leaking. Airbag warning light has been on for years. Took it to the dealer in the past they said it's ok(hub Hyundai katy TX) but I don't feel confident.
When excelerationhe care makes a noise, sounds like shavings of metal in engine some days are worse then others. I've taken it to two different Hyundai dealers and one heard it and said they have no idea what it is and have others with same problem and the other dealer said they didn't hear anything. My husband has bad hearing but one day he drove it to work and said he finally heard it as well. I do notice that the pick up is hesitant making it hard to stay in flow with the traffic at times. My gas per milage performance has decreased some what as well which.
My Sonata has started stalling and shutting down without warning. The first time it happed was Dec 12th. I just finished accelerating from about 35mph to 60mph. There the vehicle made a loud thump and the engine shut down. Seconds later I lost power steering, dash lights, and headlights. The car restarted without issue. The same problem happened on Dec. 16th while traveling at a constant 30mph. I experienced the same symptoms as before, except the vehicle did not shake or create a loud noise before shutting down. Mileage was at 75980. Temperature was in the 20's. I took the car do the dealership and they could not find anything wrong or recreate the problem. The third time this has happened was Dec 29th. I was traveling at 20mph and coasting to a stoplight. It was 19 deg outside and the mileage was around 76800. So far the car has not shut off when the weather is above freezing. Lower temps might be contributing to the problem but not likely to be the primary cause. In all cases the car was at operating temp and was running for more then 30 min. It has not yet shut off while accelerating. Only maintaining speed or coasting. About a two months ago the dealer did a software update on the vehicle due to a claimed recall. The issue started about 2-3 weeks later this is definitely a safety issue since it happens without warning. I did find some other complaints similar to this while searching.
On Dec,. 21st, 2017 I entered a business parking lot at low speed as one would enter a parking lot and within a few feet turned right to enter an aisle between 2 rows of parked cars. At the second right I had my foot on the brake to slow but realized my car was not slowing, maybe even accelerating and then, horrified, realized my efforts to slow or stop were futile! I swerved to miss a person and fishtailed hitting a bumper of an unoccupied car. By then I was nearly t-bone to many cars on a busy street. Still not able to stop I made an abrupt turn to the right and was fortunate (yes, fortunate) to hit a retaining wall around business signs in order to stop the car. Thru these frantic very few seconds as I was trying to stop, my foot was on the brake, I couldn't pump it as one would expect to do and the vehicle seemed to be accelerating. My choice came down to hit many occupied cars on the street or turn and hit the retaining wall. Again, how fortunate it was there!! airbags didn't deploy; the car is a total loss. This is a very frightening experience. Could it be that other drivers of the Hyundai 2015 Sonata have not lived to tell what happened?.
Car looses power for a few seconds while driving after accelerating. On local road at 35mph and on highway at 65mph. This occurred following a service recall for this issue. Campaign t1h and and campaign 150 vcm inspect or replacement and ecm upgrade. Started happening as a very short incident so I did not realize what was happening. Recently episodes were a few seconds long so I could determine what happened. Multiple times.
1st event June 10 2016 - car stopped on the fwy at speed over 65 mph. Stepped on the gas pedal and was no power. Attempt to restart and car run rough. Car towed to dealer (tuttle click-Hyundai -irvine,CA. ) 2nd event July 18 2016 - driving on fwy at speeds over 65 mph, gas pedal starts vibrating, driving become rough, clicking noise from engine when idling. File complain with dealer, dealer say it did not find anything, blame the situation to costco gas, and it says that the car requires to use different type of gas (such: chevron, shell).
I purchased a used 2015 Hyundai Sonata with 43k miles. I have had it for three months with minor problems such as sluggish acceleration, hard deceleration when removing foot from gas pedal, and a noisy engine. However, on 4-8-2016 at about 7:30 am, I was attempting a left turn on a busy metropolitan street when the 2015 Hyundai Sonata shut down suddenly, completely turned off! all the warning lights on the dash lit up like a christmas tree and then went dead. The 2015 Sonata came to a stop, and there was a truck approaching at a high speed rate that had to swerve around me to prevent a collision with me. I was lucky the driver was paying attention. This problem is very dangerous and it is just a matter of time before someone is killed due to this problem, which seems to be occurring in many 2015 Hyundai Sonata vehicles. I believe Hyundai must know about this and Hyundai probably knows what is causing this safety issue with the 2015 Sonata. Hyundai or NHTSA need to recall the 2015 Hyundai Sonata vehicles ASAP!! if nothing else tell the owners what the problem is so that they can repair it on their own dime!.
My 2015 Hyundai Sonata limited sport 2. 0 is getting 10 mpg less than the window sticker states even though I only use eco mode, synthetic oil, and premium fuel.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle without warning, started slowing up like the brakes were being applied. The contact was depressing the accelerator with no response. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the diagnostic trouble code tech line needed to be replaced. The failure has occurred previously. The vehicle is being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,000. Ed.
Went to pass a tractor. Notice the car was not down shifting. Pushed harder on the pedal and heard a click. After that the car down shifted (I believe this click maybe normal as I notice it on other cars but other mfgs did not have such a violent sounding click. ) the issues is that the pedal got stuck down and I had to use my foot to manually release the pedal from fully down (I reached speeds of around 90 before I could release the pedal from the fully down position).
