The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would lose motive power and decelerate without warning. The contact stated that the failure occurred consistently while making turns in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable the duplicate the failure and the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 30,000.
While driving in city traffic, 45 mph zone, my car suddenly lost power, engine rpms dropped, engine off, power steering impaired, I had to drift into turnout and assess. Car restarted, and I could drive, but rpms would not exceed 1700, car wouldn't shift gears, speed would not exceed about 15 mph. No engine warning lights, no oil pressure indicator, no excess heat. I found I could drive at low rpms and manually shift gears to increase speed. I got the car to the local Hyundai dealer (taylor Hyundai, augusta GA) and it has been there 8 weeks. They are telling me the engine has failed because I failed to change the oil for 14 months. They said my oil pan was empty. They asked me for maintenance records and said they were inadequate, and the engine needs to be replaced, may cost $6000 or more, warranty invalid. The car has 56,000 miles. Safety was put at risk due to sudden loss of power in busy traffic. Driving the disabled vehicle was risky to surrounding traffic, as the car could not maneuver quickly. I have read about similar failures with Hyundai Sonata vehicles, and a class action suit settled for 2011 to 2014 model vehicles. My car is still in the shop, unrepaired. I had to buy another used car in the meantime.
The vehicle's transmission seems to be slipping or something. As you begin to come to a stop, the vehicle bogs down and you can not accelerate. There is a long hesitation and then suddenly it kicks in and jars the car. This happens on a daily basis. The vehicle is also burning through oil at an unprecedented rate.
This 2015 Hyundai Sonata ltd ([xxx]) falsely indicates cel/emissions light. When the vehicle is started and the temperature is appx. F or lower, the indicator immediately displays. It is solid and does not blink. This happened on -3- days this week, over approximately 7 of -9- total ignitions in that time. Various forums show the same issue. Hyundai must recall this because it is either a false warning or else is a component within their control with which they failed to manufacture safely (thus contributing to the problem(s) and cel). Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
When automatic headlights are on there are time that the headlamps will turn off when engaging the turn signals until turn signals are disengaged.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving approximately 75 mph, the vehicle began to vibrate violently. The contact pulled over and had the vehicle towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing a new transmission. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.
My car keeps stalling while I am driving and sometimes when I turn to a street and is consuming motor oil with in a mile or less. It has been inspected by a Hyundai dealership and no leaks were found, consumption test has been done and they said that they can’t do nothing about it because I am the second owner. Hyundai needs to extend warranties to second owners as well if the car was bought through a certified dealership. I trusted their brand and dealership. I have been going back and forth with the dealership. My car is in the napoleon Hyundai dealership in carmel, indiana. I have a video explaining the situation and showing my engine measuring stick with very low oil.
Had an engine recall for the 2015 recall, was told that transmission was the reason for the engine failure, but the dealership would not fix the transmission. Shortly following the replacement of the engine, the problems that reside in the transmission are now costly up to $3000 or more for this issue. After extensive research found that the 2015 Sonata has had plenty of issues with its transmission. Responsibility for the faulty transmission causing engine to completely shut down and not work (happened while on highway) should fall on the dealership.
Transmission shudder, reverse gear not working, stuck in 3rd gear.
My Sonata eco is a 2015 model with less than 46,000 miles. I take it for scheduled maintenance at least twice every year since I purchased it. The vehicle was experiencing stuttering, vibrations and lack of acceleration, most frequently when turning, moving uphill or early after startup. The stuttering would vary in it's intensity, from barely noticeable to strong enough to shake passengers. Sometimes when performing a turn, my car would not be able to accelerate, leaving me in the path of oncoming traffic until it would start working again. This would also occur when travelling uphill. No warning lights or other messages were given by the car. After taking it to the Hyundai dealership they informed me that my transmission was faulty and would require a full replacement. They specifically mentioned it was a mechanical issue with the dual clutch not engaging properly. All electronic/software in the vehicle was confirmed by the dealership to be up-to-date so this was purely a mechanical issue.
2015 Sonata intermittent problem which involves loss of acceleration when taking off from a stop. One has the accelerator to the floor and vehicle goes to 10 to 12 miles/hour until it gets to about the 3rd or 4th gear. This car has done this 5-6 times since the 20th of may. Took car to dealer; they hooked it up to the computer and got no codes, so I was told it was ok. I told them the car was unsafe to drive. This car has a duel-clutch automatic transmission which I believe has a major problem. Not sure what I can do about it. It has 71,000 miles and should be under warranty.
I was driving to work at like 4:00 in the morning it was still dark outside the light turned green and as I hit the gas pedal the car stall it was moving slow so on my right hand side there was a building so I try to make it to the parking lot the car started to power down in a knocking noise started it was a busy morning in the morning work traffic.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while attempting to move from a stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle started jerking. The contact pulled over and waited for a while before continuing to drive. The vehicle operated as designed. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be inspected however, the mechainc was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 26,200.
When your applying brake on the 2015 Sonata hybrid to slow down when u hit gas again the transmission stumbles and hesitates to speed up again. It happens all the time at any speed.
My check engine light turned on and my car has power hesitation during acceleration. This happend 1-2 days out of the week until the forth time it happened the check engine light stayed on and continues to have power hesitation as well as high idling at all times, burning oil, smoke coming from the exhaust, and the brakes are extremely hard when needing to brake. I took it to a local mechanic and they did a diagnostic that returned a code of p0010 and they referred me to a Hyundai dealership for repair. I was also given a technical service bulletin with a campaign number of 15-01-022-1. I took it to the dealership and they also came back with the same code. I have paid for the parts and diagnostic and they couldn't give an estimate of when the parts would be available because they are on back order. Here I am two weeks later calling the dealership to follow up and was told by the parts department that they contacted Hyundai directly and there are 1800 of those parts on back order with an estimated time of being at least two months for the parts to come in. Hyundai also stated that they have submitted a high priority for them. I will be without a vehicle for who knows how long.
My car just started making a weird knocking sound and so I pulled over and the car would not start once I turned it off.
When I start to drive, the car jerks a few times when trying to accelerate, then it will not go over 62 mph when on the highway.
Sonata started having problems with less than 50,000 total miles. The accelerator is flawed and the vehicle cannot keep speed when traveling uphill or get to speed efficiently. The vehicle jerks for a few seconds when pressing the gas and the engine revs but the vehicle does not accelerate like it should. This has almost caused me to have accidents multiple times when pulling out into traffic. The check engine light came on when this started occurring and has been on ever since. I'm having the Hyundai dealership take a look at the vehicle and see if there is anything that can be done.
Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that after coming to a complete stop, the vehicle would hesitate without warning upon depression on the accelerator. The contact also stated that the vehicle would stall upon depression of the gas pedal when placed in reverse. She stated that the vehicle would intermittently resume normal operation upon restart. The vehicle had yet to be taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be serviced or diagnosed. The manufacturer had also not been notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50000. Jo.
Vehicle engine light started flashing while driving and vehicle would not accelerate. I was almost rear ended due to the decrease in engine speed. If I didnt quickly pull the vehicle to the grass I would've been hit. I could not drive more than 10mph after the decrease in engine speed.
Car hesitates when accelerating; loss of power; non-responsive when trying to accelerate.
The car stalled while on the road while driving to leave san antonio. The car left in san antonio to be fixed for 30 days. Returned to san antonio Hyundai replaced the engine due to a faulty engine. Metal flakes found inside engine. I am now being told I need a transmission less than 1 month after the engine replacement. Hyundai not honoring their powertrain warranty.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle misfired and took a while to start. The service engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who found an unknown code, and performed a hard reset. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the crenshaw Hyundai dealer located at 330 huffman mill rd, burlington, nc 27215, where it was diagnosed that the cvt sensor may need to be cleaned. The technician looked at the sensor and informed the contact the sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
While driving down highway car began to smoke from tailpipe and began to lose acceleration while driving on highway. Vehicles check engine light illuminated. Took vehicle to nearest auto part retail store for diagnostic testing. Error code p0014 came up along with 2 other codes. Took vehicle to auto repair shop. Advised the exhaust solonoid had to be replaced along with spark plugs and gaskets due to burning from theta 2. 0l turbo oil feed line. Car not drivable back to houston where I reside. We had to find additional time to stay at hotel and well as pay for transportation back home. My car is still in san antonio. Recall was repaired less than 6 months ago and car now has the same issue.

The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was informed of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000.

My car engine was running fine but when I started it the next morning it started shaking real bad. Kind of a knocking noise like a rough idle.
My 2015 sonota has 92 k on it and has had a lifter rattle for about the last 5000 miles tried using higher octane fuel with no change rattles upon acceleration plz help me with this ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
Stalling, car stops running while the car is in motion or about to take off. This has happened more than once. The car was checked by the dealer, dealer said they found nothing wrong.
On or about 3/15/2015, purchased a new 2015 Hyundai Sonata. Maintained oil changes in accordance with "normal maintenance schedule" as described in owner's manual. In 5/2019, while driving on a highway, vehicle began sputtering, knocking and engine light came on. Was told engine "threw a rod" and punched a hole in the engine and now engine needs to be replaced.
I've noticed that putting my car in reverse is causing a hard shift into gear. Also, when you come to a stop, five seconds later it feels like someone is rear-ending the vehicle when there is no one there. I went to the Hyundai dealership to ask them about the issue and before I could get halfway through explaining what was going on, the service advisor finished my thought and said he had heard of that issue before and knew about it. . . . He told me that is was probably a bad transmission. It sounded like this was a common issue since he already knew how I was going to finish the problems I've been having. After speaking to other 2015 Sonata owners from the same, they are having the exact same issues. Hyundai knows that these issues are going on, that is a fact based on the information I received from the service advisor. If this is a known issue then it should be resolved by the manufacturer and made known to the public. These issues should be resolved immediately.
My engine is burning oil. I had to add 1. 5 quarts between oil changes with only 50,000 miles on the motor. The Hyundai dealership states nothing is wrong with my car. I had detail notes explaining the mileage and oil consumption. I believe the dealership wants my car to run out of warranty before repairing the vehicle.
I purchased a new Hyundai Sonata in March 2015. In November 2018 the engine was making sounds while driving and accelerating on roadways during higher and lower speeds. I took it to the dealership where I purchased the car 3. 5 years prior. At that time the engine had approximately 59k. Diagnostics were run and it was determined that the engine was bad and was part of a recall. Three weeks later ( end of November 2018, Hyundai / dealership replaced the engine. In late March 2019 I began to hear the same noises coming from the replacement engine which I heard from the original engine. I took it back to the dealership. Diagnostics were repeated on the 2nd new engine. Hyundai has agreed to replace this engine. This will be the third engine in the four years since I purchased the car. Concern: the second engine was a repeat of the first. My concern is that a 4 year old car has had 3 engines. The malfunction/root cause of the engine potentially causes the vehicle to completely shut down lose all power when driving. Seriously dangerous situation with disastrous consequences when driving on major highways and interstates not to mention neighborhood roadways. Great possibility that the 3rd engine may have the same problem.
While driving on a busy street, on March 19, 2019, my 2015 Hyundai Sonata begin to sputter and not accelerate over 10-15 mph. This is not the first time that I have had this issue. The corporate office is aware of this issue. I was told that it was electrical and that it was my throttle body. I purchased that car new and now it has a little over 74,000 miles on it.
My 2015 Hyundai Sonata was purchased brand new, and have had multiple power/acceleration issues; however, the most recent happened on March 19, 2019. While driving on a street (evening time) with the speed limit of 45, my car started to sputter/jerk back and forth, abruptly bringing my car to a speed limit of under 15 mphs. I tried to accelerate, but the gas paddle was unresponsive. This a major hazard and extremely dangerous. This is a known issue, and Hyundai corporate office is aware (I called after the first incident), and is not doing anything to rectify the issue. Nhtsa need to make the manufacturer accountable, by reason of the numerous complaints about the same issue. I was close to being rear-ended, and if nothing is rectified, it will cause an owner to be severely injured.
