Car uses 1 qt of oil every 500 miles with 117k miles on engine, no leaks.
Since app. 50000 mile mark engine has consumed oil and its increasing as mileage goes up its getting worse, having to check oil prior to going anywhere now, one time oil light came on had to put 2 quarts in at an auto zone store. Have checked found no leaks and have had car on hoist engine running with no leaks showing. Vehicle has been serviced for 2 recalls on the engine stalling and rpm slowing making car practically undriveable. I was told to drive car into dealership for recall using side roads as rpm would only go to 2000. I think that action may have caused the problem I am now having.
The low oil indicator light does not function at all when the oil drops below normal. The engine uses an excessive amount of oil for normal uses. My vehicle goes through about 5 quarts of oil a month if not more and the vehicle is not leaking any oil at all. My vehicle has been inspected for leaking. My vehicle has stalled out at busy traffic lights, intersections and has not started due to oil issues.
Engine uses full synthetic oil at a rapid rate. One quart of full synthetic had to be added after driving only 3600 miles from previous oil change, and again at 4700, and even then the dipstick was still 1/2 quart below full when oil was changed at 4800 miles from previous oil change. Hyundai service technician could find no oil leaks.
