I got this car a Hyundai Sonata 2004 about 2 to 3 years ago. At first I didn't notice the problem until a couple months into me having the car I was on the freeway and it suddenly felt like I was out of control of my car and the back end was like swerving like I was pulling a trailer. And ever since then it's gotten worse now my front right tire goes flat randomly. A friend mechanic of mine looked at it and said that it is a suspension he just doesn't know what part of the suspension. This is dangerous because I could lose control of my car I have at any time. That could be detrimental and there is a recall in it seems like almost every other state but utah. For the exact issue that I'm having and I don't think that's right. I've had issues with this car ever since I got it. If you guys could look into this that would be great also this form asks the approximate date that something happened it happens all of the time. To the point where I'm afraid to drive it at all. I also it's gotten so bad that sometimes when I'm going only 35 mph and I hit like a pothole it will severely swerve and I will lose control of my car or if I turn my car I turn my car my steering wheel the right way and I lost control of my car it started swerving and I was on a mountain. .

So I was driving down the highway and I went to pass a car, (I never get close when passing) I was probably at least a quarter mile away from the car I was passing. I have every safety feature turned off, as I have, since buying the car almost 2 years ago. All of a sudden, I’m not sure if my sensor was off or what, but I’m assuming it thought I was too close to that car and it just started swerving all over the highway. I went left/right 4 times before I was finally able to regain control, I couldn’t couter-act the swerves, nor could I hold my steering wheel straight to stop them. Luckily there were very few people on the highway as it was early in the morning. Had the time of day been different, I probably wouldn’t be here today, and some others probably wouldn’t be either, at least lots of injuries I’m sure. It hasn’t been confirmed, I don’t even know how to do that honestly, I was the only one in the car. I didn’t call anyone/say anything until right now because I was already running late for work, I was shaken up but I just called my parents and they said to look up recalls/file a report, which it seems like this is how I do it? there were no warning signs, nothing, I was driving for already about 30 minutes and everything was fine, never had any issue like this ever before. Like I said I’ve had this car for almost 2 years and she has been an absolute dream, aside from this mishap. But now I am very terrified to drive it, I don’t know what happened honestly, I don’t know what could have caused it, but this is why I hate Smart cars. My safety was put at risk by what I assume was a safety feature malfunction of some kind.

Vehicle is shaky at highway speeds.
Approx one year post engine replacement, and 2 weeks prior turbo system replacement, I am having major issues with my Sonatait struggles to stay started, it always hesitates and doesn't want to move when I press accelerator, shakes jolts and shudders, the smell of burning oil comes thru the vents and even smoke comes out from under the vehicle. The engine is leaking masses amounts of oil that seem to be leaking from all over the under carriage and half way to the back underneath the car, oil is in the wheel wells, and even splashed on the rims, the spark plugs are covered in oil, huge plums of white and dark smoke come out of the tailpipes, literally blinding anyone behind me, press the accelerator to the floor and it just shudders and smokes even more, check engine light is on and states malfunctioning turbo system, boost pressure sensor malfunction, sluggish will not gain speed, oil within the turbo blow by hose and in intake hose area, now I have coolant pouring out and the reservoir the coolant will be literally boiling. This is not good at all especially after a year post engine replacement and turbo replacement. When the car is started I push start and car struggles to start the starter keeps screeching and car shudders for a good 45 seconds before it either dies out or finally starts. This vehicle should be a lemon and bought back regardless of age condition etc. A vehicle after engine replacement of only one year should not be pouring oil out of the engine, failed head gaskets, misfiring and leaking coolant. I keep receiving recall notice after recall notice in the mail stating I have recalls that need to be addressed but when checking using my VIN it says there are no recalls needing fixing, that makes me uneasy and I don't feel safe driving the vehicle I lost faith in it all together.

The abs (antilock brake system) or bms ( brake module system) warning light illumination came on flashing “do not drive “ and the brakes sieze-up making it impossible to drive. Key Hyundai in jacksonville previously charged me $2600 to replace the bms and within warranty. A few months later the same company charged me another $342. 56 to diagnose the same issue. I had to rent a car for $700 while in the service repair department. Key Hyundai was unable to fix my 2012 Sonata hybrid except offering me a replacement hybrid battery and control system for $12,900. I declined. I believe that the campaign 251 involves this problem. I had to get the car towed to another mechanic that is currently working on the vehicle.
I have had dtc codes since November 2022 for the tpms system. I took the car to the dealership in ocala, FL. The removed the codes and less than 10 minutes of driving they came back. I scheduled another appointment in gainesville, FL they also were unable to resolve the issue. I contacted Hyundai and the case manager attempted to contact the gainesville, FL dealership. They did not respond, the solution given is schedule another appointment myself. . .

While driving the car when slowing for a stop, or just closing down in traffic the car/engine at times will jerk and lurch while braking. If I am not a safe distance from a car in front of me I could cause and accident and hit a car, so I try to keep a good distance when in traffic and refuse to drive the car on long distances on the highway. I can't predict when it will happen and when it does the slippery when wet signal comes on even though it is not wet or slippery condiitons. I don't trust the car while driving, and have no faith in it's safety. I haven't scheduled an appointment for repair because the last time I did they kept the car for over 20 days due to what they said was a system, sensor failure and charges me $3100,when I got the car back I noticed liquid leaking from the car and then the above started happening. The car is available for inspection on request. Car has not been inspected yet, not sure if I can reproduce every time. But it happen almost every day I drive the car to work within 20 miles of my home. The dealership the last time would not give me a loaner car and I need the car to travel back and forth to work since I live in a place without access to public transportation.

Nhtsa campaign 09v124000 (Hyundai recall #089) - excessive corrosion, thinning of the metal and perforation of the front sub-frame steel, due to road salt, resulting in separation of the forward mounting of the lower control arm increasing the risk of a crash. The recall was issued in 2009 for 1999-2004 Hyundai Sonatas. The present owner purchased the vehicle in 2014 with no knowledge of previous recall. The excessive corrosion and perforation of the sub-frame was brought to the owner's attention in December 2022 during a routine oil change by a meineke shop and reported as unsafe to drive. The vehicle was towed to route 1 Hyundai in monmouth junction, new jersey, for inspection and repair estimate on December 30, 2022 and an online complaint filed with Hyundai motor America for the recall (case #20721726). Following numerous email communications to Hyundai consumer affairs, it was confirmed by a national consumer affairs representative that the vehicle was covered in Hyundai recall #089. Route 1 Hyundai took photos of the front sub-frame and h-frame, completed a report and submitted it to Hyundai motor America. Hyundai motor America responded that they are declining assistance due to the failure being out of warranty caused by the time in service and mileage of the vehicle. The vehicle has 80,000 miles on the odometer. I am of the understanding that safety recalls are never out of date. Please verify if the response made by Hyundai motor America is justified.
The rear sets (left rear, and right rear) of wheel bearing and hub assemble for a new Sonata is really a terrible-quality parts. It deformed at a few thousand miles since delivery as a new car (I. E. I found it at 2400 miles, so it starts to deform and going bad earlier than 2400miles). As results, the two rear wheel and tires cannot go straightforward, rear wheels and tires are yawing during normal driving. And I am feeling jumping, shaking due to imbalance nature of wheel bearing, hub assembly and wheel tires. It is really dangerous, as wheel and tire could be falling off on highway. I don't know what kind of materials are being used for a new Hyundai Sonata. Please.
My steering wheel is locked it’s hard to turn left or right. I go to school in a different city so I drive back and forth from school to home. While I was turning into the parking lot to park my steering wheel just locked while I was trying to park I almost hit someone’s car in the process. I had to turn the steering wheel with both hands tightly to one side for the steering wheel to move. I was so scared.

After doing some research, I am now aware that there was a recall 20v-746 or 21v-727 that my car was affected by & was never notified about. On 6/2/2022, I was driving and just exited the freeway. Smoke started coming out of the passengers side of the engine. Cars were honking at me & flames started coming out as I drove into a parking lot. I was terrified as my life was at risk & felt fortunate that this did not happen on the freeway. I feel lucky to have been able to escape this life threatening experience. There is now an open claim with my insurance. I had brake lights changed at frank Hyundai on 4/08/2022 in national city, CA where they also ran a diagnostic check on the car. There was never mention of a recall & my car was cleared of any issues. In addition to the photos I have attached, I also have videos that I am not able to upload.

Steering wheel and response was "intermittently" grinding and non-responsive. This situation has occurred sporadically over the course of the fall of 2021. On December 17, 2021 while on the way to work, the steering system "froze" while I was driving and put me in a very dangerous and hazardous situation. Dash warning lights indicated a red steering wheel symbol with a cross-line and the orange anti-skid symbol at the time of the incident. I immediately stopped the car and turned it off. Upon re-start, all dash warning lights were off and the steering seemed to work normally. I next carefully and slowly drove the car to my local car repair shop. They could not duplicate the problem, but felt certain it was the electronic power steering module that was failing intermittently. My local shop strongly recommended I have the vehicle towed to the Hyundai dealership for evaluation and repair. I had the car towed to huffines Hyundai in plano, texas on Dec. 21, 2021. After three weeks in at the huffines plano service shop, the service manager called and stated they are unable to duplicate the problem and to "come pick up your car". I have called and created an incident report with Hyundai national help line, but to date, no resolution has been offered other than "come get your car". This is clearly a driver and road safety issue. When the steering failed, I could not turn the wheel at all. The car was out of my control. Stopping was the only thing I still had control of, and even this was dangerous as I was on a very busy 6-lane divided thoroughfare. This electrical (or mechanical) failure put me and all other drivers around in a dangerous situation. Clearly, I am not comfortable retrieving this car and putting it back on the road. Please advise my next best step(s).
I purchased my 2018 Sonata on 10/23/21 from south point austin with 30-35k miles on it. In the year of owning it, I've had 3 manufacture issues occur. Once on 12/31/20, there was an issue where my car detected an issue, and my maximum speed was 30 mph while I was on the interstate. It was a sensor issue and covered by my manufacturer's warranty. On 11/11/21, I had to purchase a new starter for $789. 26 despite this being a manufacture issue and covered by warranty. There was not a dealership in my area that would look into my car until 2022. They would not cover a rental until at least a diagnosis report came back which they would not begin until 2022. They said the lengthy waitlist for a rental would prevent me from securing a vehicle to use in the meantime. Because I need a functioning car, I had to purchase this out of pocket. On 11/23/21, I had to purchase a new battery. Again, this should be covered by factory warranty, but the dealerships would not look at my car until 2022. I paid $241. 14 out of pocket for this. Setting the issue of these unexpected expenses aside, my car does not feel safe to drive and has had several manufacture complications. I had a near fatal accident in my previous Sonata do to a software issue causing the brakes to go out. This line of cars should be looked into for the safety of all.

While I was driving in the access road I heard a pop and my car started making. A weird noise just for me to get out my car and my tire wasn’t straight it was dislocated I bought the car in April.
The rear crossmember bolt snapped off on the passenger side with no warning. It caused the rear passenger complete wheel assembly to breakaway and fold backwards.
The day I bought the vehicle from carmax, it was brough to my attention that theses been a recall request on the vehicle's parking break system. I'd like to get that checked out. Also, it seems as tho my left rear tire runs out of pressure quite frequently, as I've had to fill it up twice in the last two days (it got down to 24 for a day. ) these are immediate risks that I need taken care of ASAP. Thank you fr your time.

Driving on dry road, in middle lane of three lanes going 65 mph. Suddenly, right rear tire "poofed" but I kept control, started to look right to get off road. Took foot off gas, did not put on brake. Suddenly, left rear "poofed" and then an extremely loud-metal on metal- sound occurred back left and my car jack knifed into the passing , fast lane. A dump truck traveling in that lane struck me, front end and my door. The truck hit me and I rolled into the grassy medium, rolling over several times. The safety devices worked fabulously and my only injuries were from the seat belts which saved my life. I am lucky to be alive and I hope this doesn't happen to someone else. I was in icu for 5 days and hospital for a total of 9 days, I am will be recovering at home for months. I would like it investigated that either a mechanical issue or tire issue caused the accident. I only had 2300 miles on the car.
Every time it's bad weather I have this terrible shacking and don't know what it is.
Installed four (4) brand new general altimax rt43 tires. New tires had 3877 miles on them when the driver's side rear tire suffered a sudden, rapid loss of air traveling on a maintained county highway at 55 to 60 miles per hour. The tire was examined at the dealership and determined to have a slice or cut in the sidewall resulting in extreme, rapid tire failure. There was neither no pothole or foreign object traversed prior to the extreme, sudden tire failure. Having been a certified emergency vehicle operations instructor, and having served as a committee member for the state of wisconsin, department of justice as an advisor for emergency vehicle operations, I am most confident in my observation and assessment. The tire simply failed for no identifiable, rational reason.

First I got my tires change 2 on the back and the tpms has been on since them , and driving from work in the industrial part of town where traffic is high heavy and fast driving in all the my car just quit while driving at 2:30am getting off work, so a guy I work with seen me slowing down and gave me a boost and again before I made it home it quit again and I live 15 min from and when I stoppedi was about 9min away. Lights started flickering and the car shutdown in the middle of ttaffic. So I bought a new battery for almost $200 and that didn't work it started for a moment and went dead in traffic again .
My car is not stearin properly.

On August 14th,2020, I purchased a vehicle from the showroom floor from crain Hyundai of conway, arkansas. The car was aesthetically pleasing and only had 46 miles on the speedometer. At the time of the purchase I was not aware of the term "modification" nor the ramification associated with having a vehicle modified. I assumed the dealership were responsible for providing me with a safe and efficient vehicle. The car had added equipment: crain care pkg: $1,397. 00 - wheel locks: $89. 00 - window tint: $189. 00 - black out package: $4,295. 00, which I later learned the american racing rim #ar934 fastlane, does not fit a 2020 Hyundai Sonata, they are 20 inch rims and had extensa hp 225/35r20 90w tires and the recommended tire is 235/45r18. Within a month after the new car purchase it rain and the car lost traction and began to slip and slide. I propose implementing laws to govern dealership modification of vehicles and hold said dealership responsible for informing the consumer of the negative ramifications involved with knowingly purchasing a vehicle for aesthetic desires. After learning of my mistake the Hyundai corporation would not negotiate a reasonable agreement with me, and closed the complaint leaving me with an unsafe vehicle that was altered by a third party company within the dealership, name: motor sports authority. The dealership would not release from that contract and the workmanship of the black out package is unravelling and I discovered the modification has decrease the value of the car, when I thought it would increase in value. I also learn the added equipment stated above was not included on the vehicle purchase invoice which effects possible repairs and/or replacement concerning automobile insurance coverage. Dealership should be held accountable and responsible for informing customers of modification and be held legally binding for the vehicle safety.
When I drive above 60 mph on the highway the car starts shaking. I've had it in for service a couple times with no avail. I need help with this problem. I do not feel safe driving under these conditions. I purchased new tires recently but it still shakes.
Multiple parts have been replaced on my front end from what mechanics thought were the problem but my wheel still sticks/pull to the left while driving even after multiple front end work and alignments. Also, I've replaced head lights, tail lights, breaks and reverse lights numerous times because something keeps blowing them. When I press the volume button on the steering it changes the screen on the radio. I'm assuming it's something with wiring malfunctioning. The cruise control on the wheel doesn't always work as well.
Steering wheel makes a noise. When turned. Car ride is bumpy on inspection mechanic said I need steering column replaced and I need left front lower control arm replaced, front sway bar links need replacement. Almost $2000 expense. This car has 132000 miles on it . I took care of car rotate the tires did preventive maintenance. The vehicle has very bumpy ride when turned makes noise.
My Hyundai Sonata 2012 recently experienced engine seizure on a 5 lane highway in NJ garden state parkway at 70 mph without any warning what so ever. Car was checked for this recall year ago and supposedly software was installed to notify if engine was to fail. There was no warning! dealer confirmed the engine died and is covered under the recall. I also had mentioned concern about the noise under the car. They replaced the engine & serpentine belt and told me to come back in 3 days as it was too early to do the inspection. When I got the car back the noise was still under the car, the tire light came on, back door lock stopped working and ac stopped working I called back and they told me $1500 worth of work to pass inspection. 3 days earlier they said the car was good to pass. Including continental tires that Hyundais horrible suspension ruined at 16k miles(tire warranty 70k miles) and both sway bars and sway bar link. Which means I could have rolled the car at any curve. Axles were changed twice on this car as they told me " manufactory faulty" axles they put on and other suspension parts. Tires were rotated and aligned by them! if that's not good enough person working on my car damaged both of my front doors when letting the car off the lift. Then the dealer tried to cover up the damage and sign me the car back! car has some serious electrical issues with interior/exterior. Lights melting, bulbs burning and now the car doors locks. Better yet new recall says if you had your engine replaced you are in a danger of the fire. How am I supposed to trust this "certified dealer" ? + the other 8 recalls and class actions about this car- Hyundai needs to be forced to buy back these all of these cars. Not only is that not safe for me its also not safe for other drivers! I've also been without my car for about a month at this point.
Eps check engine abs and wheel lineament lights are all on and my wheels sound horrible hitting a small bump.
While making a right turn on a residential street, the steering wheel locked causing me to hit the only parked car that was 20 ft from the corner.
In parking lot my steering seized up. The power steering light and traction control lights came on. Then I shut car off and restarted it. Then power steering was back and indicator light were gone some time I have to leave my car park long to fix it automatically.
I was driving on a side street, heard loud noise coming from left front wheel area when I heard a grinding sound and car was riding rough. Called for help. Instructed not to drive vehicle till it was looked at by a mechanic. Mechanic who evaluated and repaired vehicle said he has never seen "pitted wheel bearings" in 30 years of operation. He gave me back the faulty bearings and told me I should contact you and the corporate area of Hyundai, because this is a serious safety issue and warrants an alert or recall. The driver side lower ball joint and bearings had to be replaced. Please review ASAP, as this is a serious safety concern for the rest of the population. Thank you!.
While parked at the airport for 2 weeks, the right front suspension coil broke. I noticed the problem when I attempted to leave the parking lot and heard a horrendous metal scraping noise. Upon stopping the car and inspecting, I could see the coil spring hanging down. It scraped up the sidewall of the tire in just the short time to drive across the parking lot to where there was more light.
In June 2019 I purchased 4 brand new tires ( general altimax brand) from bentley Hyundai. Since the purchase I had to replace one new tire in August 2019 due to frequent low air pressure. Now I'm in Dec 2019 and frequent low air pressure continues to happen. The general altimax tire brand is dangerous and has poor quality. After having my vehicle tires serviced there was no nails in the tire but was informed general altimax tires are substandard quality and may cause safety concerns. As a driver I do not want to be on the road and the air just deflates causing an accident or death. My vehicle is parked at work 8 plus hours 5-6 days a week or driving city streets to run errands or at church. For the past 3 days my vehicles has been parked and today I start my vehicle and the low pressure light comes on again. I just had my tires check on 11/26/19. I should not be having these many low pressure tire issues. I am requesting a reimbursement.
Issue #1 brakes making a wierd squalling sound when we apply the brakes at various times driving . We brought our 2017 Sonata hybrid numerous times without any fix ! serious safety issue ! issue #2 wei brought our 2017 Hyundai Sonata with only 14,000 miles to service dept. At Hyundai to inspect tires & brakes & oil change before leaving on our long trip to miami . Everything checked out ok ! we drove 2/3 of way on I-75 highway & only stopped once for gas . We noticed a thumping sound & our car started "pulling to the right". We thought it was a flat tire & stopped at the next rest area to inspect tires for proper psi inflation. . . All tires checked out ok?? there was no "warning lights on " so we got back onto I-75 & we really got nervous as the shaking really got worse as we drove on. We slowed down to 40 mph. With flashers on. We called roadside assistance for directions to nearest Hyundai dealership. We slowly made it to rick case Hyundai who inspected our car & were "shockingly told that the (2) right side tires experienced "belt seperations " & they had to be replaced immediately with a new wheel alignment (over $ 500). Tech said ! wow that looks like two manufacturer defective tires ! we carried 2 tires back tto our local Hyundai service dept in npr & will try to get reimbursed by hankook ! this is a "serious safety issue " with these tires as we have read all the complaints about these model tires. We would like to replace the other (2) tires that are still on vehicle with these major safety issues ! my wife & I dont feel safe with the tires & brakes concerns !.
Took my car in for an oil change a month ago. Soon as I leave oil lube, not even halfway home my car started hesitating and cutting off. By the time I made it home not even 10 mins away my car started knocking. I purchased this car 4 months ago and can't drive it I was in the city limits of huntsville alabama.
When driving there is a clicking noise coming from the steering wheel and shaking of the car and when running over man holes.
