The lower control arm completely rusted through. Have pictures. Son driving car on our driveway and car started making noise and started pulling hard to the left. Drove back to house to inspect and lower control arm on drivers side had rusted apart allowing tire to be uncontrollable. Contacted Hyundai and they say there is no problem. Several instances of this same problem on the internet, with many involving crashes. This is a very serious issue and could cause serious injury or death if it happens at road speed. Lucky for us it was on our driveway.

The lower control arm rusted and broke allowing the wheel to break lose and tilt in at the bottom. Had this happened at highway speeds the results likely would have been loss of control and crash. It's a defect Hyundai is aware of but failed to notify all owners. And Hyundai is shorting the recall to certain states blaming the issue on road salt corrosion. While in fact it is a huge problem that Hyundai is ignoring and leaving their consumers in harms way. There has to be many Hyundai vehicle owners driving today in cars that are ticking time bombs. People will be hurt or killed if action is not taken very soon. All vehicles effected by this same manufacturing flaw are very dangerous to operate.
Hyundai attempted fix on control arm, cause arm to fail completely across control arm area where a hole was drilled in an attempt to remedy pounding issue. . . Control should have been replaced, may result in death or damaged to property. . .
Luckily driving slowly. . . Applied my brakes and the passenger wheel turned inward causing the car to hop. The lower control arm on that side had rotted and failed leaving no control to steer that wheel. Car was towed and repaired at a aaa repair station. Have the rotted part(the lower control arm). I never received a recall for this from Hyundai.
The contact owned a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. While driving 45 mph and making a right turn, he could feel a hard vibration and he could feel one of the rear wheels folding under the vehicle. The vehicle sprung front end forward into a ditch. The contact was transported by an ambulance to the nearest hospital. A police report was filed. The front control arm snapped and caused the wheel separation, which was discovered after the crash. The vehicle was destroyed. The current and failure mileages were under 45,000.
The vehicle was being driven on a winding country road at speed about 35 mph. The left rear wheel began to wobble and caused the car to fish tail. Driver attempted to keep vehicle on the road but ran off side twice before left wheel totally fell on side and vehicle came to stop. Vehicle on side of failure never left roadway or hit curb etc but car severely damaged. Failure from rear left suspension bolt pulling through upper control arm holes (stamped metal brace).
