The contact owns 2008 Hyundai Tiburon. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the hydraulic clutch was depressed and ceased in the depressed position. The contact was able switch lanes and pulled the vehicle into a parking lot. The vehicle was restarted however, the failure persisted. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed the failure as a complete clutch failure. The mechanic was able to repair the clutch except the linkage. The failure persisted after the repair. After the clutch repair was performed, the steering and the brakes became inoperable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.

I was in fairly heavy traffic traveling 65-70 mph and another car swerved in front after passing me (on the right) and when I went to apply brakes they went to the floor and the car started to accelerate. I again applied brakes and not only did they not work they also didn't disengage the cruise control. I started to panic and applied the clutch and tried to downshift. I had seconds to respond and a gap in traffic behind me so I needed to get over to right shoulder as quick as possible (I was in the left lane) I put the car in neutral and started to apply the hand-brake slowly at first. As I entered the right lane and neared the shoulder (out of traffic) I applied the hand brake as hard as I could and simultaneously turned off the ignition when the car had slowed enough. I should also mention that upon coming to a stop the check engine light was solid and stayed on even after shutting down and restarting the car. It remained on until I got the car to the nearest dealer. I'm ok and it could have been much worse (no damage to me or car) but the dealer who serviced the car told me they confirmed that the computer was sending erroneous codes to multiple systems at once. I have their report and the documentation on the software update they applied to the cars computer. They didn't replace the computer just the software!
this could have been much worse in another situation. It was scary as hell and im still somewhat shaken. I'd rather be proactive about bringing attention to this than ignoring the incident and the fact remains that I have no idea if the new software patch that the dealer applied to the computer is able to protect my safety.

In October 2009 I purchased a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon for my son. The car was placed in the garage until my son turned 16 on March 8, 2010. We only have put less than 100 miles on the car from the date of purchase to find out that the rear brakes were not working also causing the emergency brake not to lock in. The vehicle was purchased at crest Honda in nashville, TN. They also proceeded to sell me an extended warranty which was suppose to cover for brakes, however when I took it to a Hyundai service center they contacted the extended warranty company and they would not cover for the brakes to be repaired as they were after market brakes on the car. It is clearly obvious that this car was not inspected by crest Honda prior to my purchase. I have read similar complaints on the internet about crest Honda and customers having faulty brakes on used cars that they purchase from them. We are fortunate that we noticed the problem with the emergency brake as the mechanic told me that the rear brakes were not catching and only the front brakes were operational on the car.
The contact owns a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon. While driving in reverse with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle would not stop. The contact crashed into a wall. He took the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the failure or repair the vehicle. The contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer. The powertrain and speed were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 19,000.

While applying the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop. This caused the consumer to collide into the vehicle in front of him. The driver had taken the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and the mechanic could not duplicate the problem. The incident occurred twice in 12 hours.

My vehicle has problems with the tires, brakes and transmission. The dealer has done repairs and correct to some extent. However, many issues have not been addressed or remedied and now they refuse to service the vehicle. The vehicle is not safe to drive.
