3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2022

I acquired my vehicle as a used car. Although, to my knowledge my vehicle air bags have not deployed, the air bag light is illuminated on my dash panel and this issue is preventing me from obtaining an updated vehicle registration in my state of residence (delaware). Since the year make and model are listed under the "recall" section of the NHTSA website, specifically for an airbag issue, I am requesting information regarding what nest-steps I nay take to have this problem repaired by Hyundai without any cost to me.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2019

I want to have a four wheel alignment service completed. The automotive technician invited me back to view the underside of my vehicle. What I saw was very disturbing. The whole rear left side of my vehicle is rusted something awful. This subframe is totally rusted through and through. I also recently had to replace rusted out lower control arms.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2018

The car stalls then cuts off while in motion.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2018

While driving up the exit ramp, the frame broke in half in front of the rear tires causing the rear of the car to shake violently and was very hard to control. . According to the service garage it was broken on both sides beyond repair. Fortunately I was just exiting the interstate where I was driving at approx. 75 mph.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

3 outside and 3 inside door handles have broken off. Motor for electronic windows [driver, front passenger and rear passenger] all quit working within a week of each other. And no, it wasn't fuses. Headlight housing, passenger side is breaking inside the housing.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2015

2005 Hyundai tuscon, rear sub-frame completely rotted out. The garage was shocked to see where the 4 bolts are to hold the crossbar completed broke off! while driving on the highway at 65mph, and changing lanes the vehicle seemed to have a delayed reaction or like it was "fish-taling". The incident didn't happen on the highway, however when turning a corner on my street, suddenly a loud rubbing sound and grinding sound happened and the vehicle waved side to side while trying to drive it up the street. The steering was extremely loose and it felt like it was going to crash into the side of the road on the curb. There was rubber from the tire on the inside wheel well on the piece that covered the shocks. Hyundai replacement parts is almost $1000!!!.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2013

Vehicle was traveling at approximately 40 mph when the vehicle suddenly stopped running and blocked the center lane of traffic on a busy thoroughfare during rush hour. Attempts to restart the vehicle were unsuccessful at first. After 15 minutes vehicle was able to start and stayed running. This type of incident has also happened in the past - vehicle will be traveling at speed and will just suddenly shut off and not restart. Vehicle has been taken to a service shop to be evaluated. Vehicle has a new coil pack, plugs, wires, throttle position sensor, a/c compressor, and timing belt. Vehicle, once repaired, is going be sold due to its continued unreliability and tendency to just stall at any time at any speed.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2012

This has happened several times since vehicle was 2 years old; it is running along fine as begins sputtering and seems like it is running out of fuel, but the tank will be nearly full, then it will eventually stop running; I can let it sit for a while and it will restart, and some times is okay for a while, as if everything is okay, then it will happen again; I was charged for a new computer, and it still has not solved the problem. Vehicle has all over the road miles, still in excellent condition, other than this problem.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2012

Engine on our 2005 Hyundai Tucson turned off in the middle of a busy highway going approximately 40 mph. Managed to turn/roll off the road without power or power steering. Had to restart car several times as it would stall out on acceleration or when slowing to turn. Paid dealership $209 to "fix" the problem, but the problem still exists a month later and is getting progressively worse each day. Dealership did oil change, vehicle inspection and replaced "p0444 evap purge control valve connector. " clearly this did not solve the problem as this severe safety hazard persists. Hyundai has no answers and several other similar complaints we've read have been filed with the NHTSA. Something has got to be done.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2011

My 2005 hundai tuscon seems to be of very poor quality. I rarely use the backhatch window, maybe 5 times in the past 10months. The passenger side hinge broke and is totally corroded (sp?) by just opening it an inch by mistake and closing it, it snapped right off. Hyundai dealer says "well it is 6yrs old". I also have had an issue since I purchased the vehicle where the power locks go on and off on their own and there is something randomly draining the battery if it is not driven every 24-48hrs. It appears both of these issues have been apparent for many 2005 tuscon owners, and Hyundai is failing to acknowledge these factory issues which should have been recalled in my opinion.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2007

I was slowing to a stop and could feel that the car was going to die and it did. I took it to the dealer and they did a fuel induction service and it seemed to fix the problem. The dealer should have not charged me for a car so new, but they put under the service "maitenance" which I didn't find out till a couple years later when it happened again and I called the dealership. I have since had the same incident happen 5 times and after reading several people have had the same thing with no explaination I decided to put my incidents in so that more people would know it isn't just a single happening of the same thing. After this happens I take the car on the freeway and floor it meaning to blow out what I think may be stuck in the fuel line???? it always works for a while. This thing doesnt occur for any particular reason and I have the car well maintained. I now have over 120,000 miles and the last time it did this was about 6 months ago. Thank goodness nothing bad has happened becuase of it.
