The car stalls then cuts off while in motion.
I was out of my town picking up a toddler I was going to babysit that night, I also had my own 1. 5 year old in the vehicle, on my way back home the vehicles check engine light came on, and the car would not accelerate. We were in heavy traffic going roughly 50 mph at the time this occurred. I pulled into the nearest gas station turned the vehicle off then started it back up again and the check engine light was off. I pulled out of the gas station and no more than 5 minutes later as I was making a lane change again around 50 mph the same thing happened and the vehicle quickly decelerated and the car behind me almost hit us! I had to babies in the car under 2 years old! I limped my way to the nearest autozone and the computer read out a misfire in cylinder 5. I lived approximately 15 miles away and had to drive home on the interstate going maybe 40 mph with my caution lights on while heavy traffic flew by at 70 mph! I have had my spouse look at it and we have tried several things and the check engine light will come on intermittently reading the misfire in cylinder 5 every time. We are going to try replacing the spark plugs wires and coil pack, but after a ton of research I have little to no faith this will work. I have only owned the car for 4 days and it has 118900 miles on it. I am now nervous to take this vehicle anywhere outside of town let alone on the interstate that run directly through my town!.
1/6/09 while driving the tuscon began to feel hesitant with slow acceleration and stalled while I was turning across traffic and malfunction light came on. Tow was required to the dealer where the tps sensor assembly was replaced. Mileage was 50209. I purchased my tuscon new in 9/2005 and since 12/05 I had the car in the dealer for malfunction light six times. On 4/26/2009 while traveling on the NJ turnpike the tuscan began to operate in the same manner as in 1/09 , and thankfully, I was able to pull over to the shoulder before the tuscon stalled and caused a major accident. I was towed to a hotel, and the next day towed again to a NJ dealer where the sensor assy-air flow and sensor assy oxygen lh were replaced. Mileage 53401. I drove 150 miles to home, and the malfunction light came on again. I took the car to my regular dealer said the code was found for cylinder # 5 misfire, e ngire not misfiring at this time . I contacted the Hyundai consumer assistance center and reported all of the above to them (three calls were made) I was told I would hear back from them last night, but have not. I travel on high speed/traffic roadways often and now I am concerned for the safety of my passengers, drivers/passengers in other cars and my own. I am I to know if the car is going to stall again, and if I am aware of a change in it's operation how I can feel safe not knowing if I will be able to pull to the shoulder before this happens.
I was slowing to a stop and could feel that the car was going to die and it did. I took it to the dealer and they did a fuel induction service and it seemed to fix the problem. The dealer should have not charged me for a car so new, but they put under the service "maitenance" which I didn't find out till a couple years later when it happened again and I called the dealership. I have since had the same incident happen 5 times and after reading several people have had the same thing with no explaination I decided to put my incidents in so that more people would know it isn't just a single happening of the same thing. After this happens I take the car on the freeway and floor it meaning to blow out what I think may be stuck in the fuel line???? it always works for a while. This thing doesnt occur for any particular reason and I have the car well maintained. I now have over 120,000 miles and the last time it did this was about 6 months ago. Thank goodness nothing bad has happened becuase of it.
