Drove into a parking space, with the foot pressing on the brake pedal, the car suddenly and without warning rapidly accelerated uncontrolled causing the vehicle to accelerate past the end of the parking space causing property damage.

I leased a 2016 Hyundai Tucson from metcalf auto plaza [xxx]. Every week since then I have had to return the car for repairs. It got to a point where neil suggested he can trade it for another but each and every vehicle I test drove to replace my car was not ready to be on the road but according to them every car had just got out the shop. Instead of trying to have issues resolved the mechanics decide to make "jokes" as if your pain and suffering is a joke. Since I did not want a trade in and wanted my car fixed instead neil tried to tell me that this was my final offer which I declined because why not just fix my car? I went to talk to neil in person September 9, 2025 about getting my car fixed and the frustrations I am having because having to return the car weekly and I havent had it for a month is outrageous. [xxx] I was driving the Hyundai on the highway with my children in the car and the electricity to the car completely cut off but came right back on, I got off the highway and the car did it again and this time the wheel locked up and I almost wrecked the car. I called metcalf and the only thing they could tell me was they can tow my car to metcalf but me and my children had to find our own means of transportation. Every time I called to have my car serviced and told them about what I would hear and feel they could never make the car "do it again". I am beyond frustrated, upset and terrified because I have been telling them about smoking coming from the engine, rattling noise etc. My kids lives were put in danger and the only thing they could say was "I apologize and we can tow the car to the shop". Did not care if we had transportation and have never offered to give us any after continously getting stranded in the car. Now the car is towed to their shop once again and the car wouldnt even turn over for me to get it out of the middle of the street. I was blocking traffic and had to have the police block information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia).

My catalytic converter caught on fire a couple months back then I hit a code for the knock sensor replaced it and it started to act up again I can’t go over 49 burning oil took it to Hyundai now they are saying my engine is going out and I’m still panting carmart got the car.

When accelerating, like taking off from a red light or through a turn, my car begins to shake like it’s unable to change gears correctly, and sometimes leads to the car stalling in the middle of the street and intersection putting my in danger of being hit from other drivers. It’s also happened that when I press the gas after being stopped at a light, my car rpm goes up but I don’t move and then the car jolts forward quickly. This has been happening for years and when I take it to Hyundai they tell me “that’s just how the car runs” which seems incredibly unsafe.

Oil consumption is excessive it has caused the engine to have a knocking noise even though routine oil changes have been up to date. Yes available for inspection. This may cause the engine to seize at any given point while in motion. No, I have not been able to take the vehicle to a dealership yet. No, vehicle has not been inspected. No, no check engine/warning light has turned on. Knocking noise began June 28th 2024.

The car did not accelerate after pressing gas pedal all way down. Encountered this while idling and trying to accelerate from a steady speed as well.

I was at a stop light, when I went to accelerate, the car would not move past 20 mph. I pressed down on the pedal, and the gauge did not go past 20 mph. After a few seconds, the car started to accurate, but it happened again at a second stop light a few minutes later.

1. My car will randomly not accelerate when the gas is being pressed. This has almost got me killed when making a left hand turn on more than 1 occasion now. The car also struggles with random shifting and power issues while going up steep hills at high speeds. 2. The front passenger side door and the rear drivers side passenger door just randomly stopped working with a week of each other. The rear wont open from the inside or outside. The front passenger side opens if you shake the handle back and forth multiple times (essentially trying to open it multiple times till it opens).

Upon acceleration onto highway or up a hill the car at times will rev and not shift or move /increase speed. Getting onto the highway I have had to pull into the shoulder until vehicle snaps out of it and decides to shift. Extremely dangerous & happening more often than not now.

When driving the vehicle is slow to accelerate hence posing a risk of being rear ended. It makes loud noises when going down hill and it tends to slow down even when you're foot is on the gas pedal. This is a concern for me since I have a small child that rides with me to and from school. The passenger a d driver doors jam on multiple occasions. The non acceleration especially when merging on highways or after traffic light stops is very dangerous since the person behind has no idea what's happening. When you stop the vehicle on a hill at a traffic stop and it's time to go on green the vehicle tends to pull back abit before accelerating, making the person behind wary of being hit. The loud noises made by the vehicle especially driving down a hill are just annoying, if you break to go slower, the noise is even louder. The lack of acceleration and jamming that the vehicle has me very worried for my safety and that of my young child, since we use the vehicle everyday for school drop offs and pickups and work. I am wary of driving it for any other reason that that which isn't fair because I pay for the car each month!!.

I had multiple occasions where the car would blink lates and make screaming noises when acceleration. The vehicle never had a smooth process of stopping and going. When stopped at a light, you could press the acceleration and it idle or not speed up than rev the rmps and start to catch speed. It was very unsafe, I tried several attempts years ago at getting the vehicle maintenanced but only got rotors repaired from shaking and two other shops stating it was a recall and they could not service or fix the vehicle.

While back out of my driveway in my 2016 Hyundai Tucson, it suddenly accelerated on its own out of control rendering me helpless and just along for the ride. Finally stopped while in reverse the car went across the street crashing violently into my neighbors boat and engine was still reving until I shut it off after the crash. Both my car and neighbors boat had major damage.

The vehicle will not accelerate properly. Several times, I have been on the interstate, and the vehicle would barely increase in speed. Several instances have let to life threatening situations. Numerous times, I have gone to get on the interstate, and the vehicle would slow to nearly a stop, and even when having no other choice but to floor the gas pedal, it still would not accelerate. I've been forced to go off the road, in the middle of the interstate, so many times I've lost track. It's dangerous, and needs to be addressed immediately. I'm considering a lawsuit.

When I go to accelerate my vehicle it does not accelerate properly. It actually slows down to the point of almost stopping. It is very dangerous when I am getting on the highway. I have had cars almost rear end me due to this issue. I travel with my children in this car.

Engine or transmission the vehicle has stalled randomly multiple times on the freeway, business roads and intersections, not accelerating and burning through oil dealership says they cannot figure out or replicate the issue no check engine light or warning of any kind given.

I was driving on interstate and my vehicle felt like it was losing power. It felt like the engine was failing. My car started squeaking and flutter when I tried to accelerate pass 65 mph. I took it to delearship and they told me my engine needed replaced. It only had like 89k miles on it. They replaced engine. I picked up SUV, and as I am driving home on interstate my car started to shake and squeal again when I accelerated to 65 mph. It seemed I had to floor the accelerator to get to 65 mph. I took SUV back and this time they told me it was the transmission. It is currently in shop getting transmission fixed. Hyundai has had my car now for 4. 5 months replacing motor and now transmission. I bought this car brand new, and had issues with this SUV in the past. It would consume a lot oil way before it time for oil change, but dealership did oil consumption test and said it was fine. It lost complete power at traffic stop. Every time I took it to delearshop they would say everything look good. My model VIN number isn’t on the recall list, but I wouldn’t purchase a used 2016 Hyundai, Tucson do to safety concerns.

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that all four automatic windows failed to operate as needed. The front driver’s side window started failing and an appointment was scheduled with the dealer to repair the window. While testing the windows in the dealer parking lot after the repair, the front passenger’s side window fractured, and the dealer agreed to cover the cost of the repair free of charge. Over time, the rear windows started to lower independently, and the vehicle was repaired by an independent mechanic. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle intermittently failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle lunge forward while accelerating. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

I took my 2016 Tucson to the myrtle beach SC dealership for the recall on the abs. First thing that happened they called me in the back and told me that they added oil (which I checked when I got home and was overfilled) and that they put in 2 new air filters. They did all this before asking me. So they tried to get me to pay $72 each for the air filters and $16 for the oil and of course I refused. Within days the check bsd system light and all other lights have come on. When I’m at a stop signs it shuts off. I have started the vehicle one morning to warm the engine up and I go back and thence hole is off with the dashboard lights on. My vehicle has even stop and cut off while in traffic while taking my daughter to school. The rpm and the ac stops working when these lights come on and I can only drive the vehicle at a certain speed. I don’t know if by “fixing” the abs caused this issue or what but my vehicle was driving fine before I went to that dealership. I contacted the dealership asked for a manager and of course one was not available but I was told that they would look at my vehicle for $110. And I still haven’t heard from a manager. So disappointed in Hyundai!!!.

Original owner. Car shook badly and hesitated losing speed at 61k. Dealership replaced all or four ignition coils and spark plugs. Car started and burning oil at 61,000 despite regular oil changes at 3500. Mostly done by the dealership. Car has been burning oil uses 1 quart every 500 miles. All four window regulators have stopped working. I replaced one.

My car is a 2016 Hyundai Tucson with about 24,000 miles on it and bought brand new. I have had multiple issues from the beginning. I would have issues with my car turning off then it would leave me in stuck and wouldn't excelerate and almost killed me multiple times so I had it in the shop for the third time. Finally, it was soo bad that they put a new transmission in under my almost expired 5 year warranty. My car has been doing better since the new transmission so that is good so far, but wanted to tell you since other ppl are struggling with this as well and should be a recall and we should not have to pay for it at all. Second complaint is that my car is now experiencing door lock issues which makes it a huge safety issue as well. It unlocks the actual button inside but the handle takes multiple pulls to open from the outside. So I had to crawl over to push the door open to get in the passenger side, sometimes it will not open at all which is very scary. It all sounds like these make and models are the pits when I google issues. So I am hoping to add this to a safety recall which it definitely should fall under one. All dashboard lights turned on and speedometer stopped working while driving. Vehicle accelerated and braked without driver input.

Oil consume really fast, or oil burn really quick (it supposed to works 5000 miles after oil change, but its burn about 1500-2000 miles). Because of that problem engine get heat really quick and their is maximum possibility for fire (due to heat), fire may cause lack of engine oil. Power (pick up) of car is really low, it is really slow when stop and go on the road, either freeway or on the street way. If a car could not pick up or drive forward as normal standard their is great possibility for accident, in freeway more possible and street way as well. I made web based research about these problems, most of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson facing this problem, means this is not my personal problem but there is problem all of Hyundai tuscon of this model. So, Hyundai must solve this problem. Because they know car was defective while they sold us, but defect broke out after long time. There are several 2016 Hyundai Tucson facing typically same problem. This fact proved that car was defective while they sold it to their customers. Most of the time I change oil and do servicing at Hyundai dealer, but they never tell me about this problem. But when I realized it my warranty was expired. I went to inspect my vehicle with Hyundai dealer but they want to charge to cure this problem, but, if their is manufacturing defect they have to take care free of cost. Because while they sale the car they did not revealed this problem it is misrepresentation. Police, insurance representatives or other did not inspected my vehicle. Their were not any warning lamps message or other symptoms of the problem until now, but when we drive we can feel it. Please do the web based short research to confirm my issues, and help us to solve this problem. In addition, they did not notice me about 2020 break recall, I know this form this web site today.

Car is in limp mode,will not accelerate. Oil consultant over a few years. Dealership has requested new engine twice and denied by Hyundai USA. I have to put flashers on just to get on highway so im not killed. I will drive down the street and back and my engine will be extremely hot for hours. I am limited to my hometown only. I can not go out of my hometown due to heat of engine and blowing hoses and water pumps which has happened. This car is a danger and I am in financial burden to high repairs and excuses from dealerships. I have spent over 16,000 dollars and 3 catalyc converters later due to clogging ,in result to oul consumption. This car is a lemon and has ruined my life for the last 3/4 years. Lots of stress and financial expenses only to have the same problem.

When accelerating after stopping, the gas pedal will be pushed down but car will stall and not go. The engine will rev up, but the car does not move and then all of a sudden will accelerate forward. Also, when coasting in rush-hour, accelerating after a stop sign, the car will make jerking movements. It has been taken to a Hyundai dealership where they told me it is a dual-transmission so I just need to be more aggressive with it when taking off from stop light/stop sign. I know that this is not normal and most definitely needs to be revisited as there have obviously been enough complaints and has been an issue previously.

When at a complete stop, vehicle studders and has a hard time picking up speed (rpm goes high). When trying enter into traffic it's very dangerous because vehicle doesn't pick up speed.

Got this car at the dealership in July last year. A few weeks before this happened you would notice a hesitation from the car to move forward when you press the gas pedal whiles driving on the road. The engine began to make loud knocking noises one morning and broke down while driving on the street. Got it towed to a Hyundai service shop and they are talking about making a "goodwill" repair which will end up costing $4800. I have read many complaints noted from the 2016 Tucson owners who experienced the same issues with their cars. This is obviously a manufacturing defect. The vehicle has been recalled before for a Tucson secondary hood latch recall campaign.

Hello, I bought a used 2016 Hyundai Tucson eco less then a month ago from autonation that had only 40,000 miles on it. Within 2 weeks of buying the vehicle, the check engine turned on for a p259f trouble code for a turbocharger position sensor that I had got from using autonation's vehicle app. Naturally , I called autonation to have my car fixed, but the engine light had gone off before I brought my in vehicle in for repairs. When I did bring my vehicle in to the dealership, they confirmed that there was a check engine light on from my turbo, but that it had gone off and that the car was functioning normally, and to go to a Hyundai dealership for a special diagnostic if the issue consisted. On the same day of getting my car back, I started noticing engine performance issues, my acceleration would be affected by 1 to 2 seconds where the car would not go, and when it would finally notice the throttle it would jump kick the car. Also the worst of all, it also cut out at one point where it did not want to give any sort of throttle at all, I needed to have my foot all the way down on the pedal to just go 30 mph. During that time I noticed that the engine would be revving high while no speed was being gained, and no check engine lights where going off either. Because of that, I was almost involved in an accident where I could not accelerate out of an intersection when making a turn. What makes me believe this is the turbo electrical problem, is that the way I got my car to accelerate normally is that I parked it and restarted it, after that it started accelerating normally, but at times the acceleration would still be affected.

Coming from a stop or very low speeds, I press on the gas pedal and the car doesn't move. Sometimes it actually slows down. When it does engage, the car will lurch forward at a higher speed. This has happened multiple times. Other 2016 Tucsons are under recall for this issue. They need to expand the recall. This has happened on multiple dates and times, so the issue is ongoing.

My 2016 Tucson sport with eco shift has a dangerous problem with the transmission. Intermittently it will not move when I give it gas. The rpms go up to 6000 but the car wont move. Its the dct transmission. Today I took it in for the 3rd time and I don't want it back until its fixed.  this is a very unsafe vehicle to drive since you would not know when it would just stop shifting and driving. Have registered a complaint with Hyundai motors as the service department does not know when the vehicle will be repaired.  .

My car keeps having issues with acceleration. It struggkes. To manually shift gears when I try to go to 40 mph. I fear for my. Safety especially getting into highways since I struggle to keep up with traffic upon entering. I have taken it to the dealer already and problem persists.

This issue recur after the first incident that made us go back and forth to the dealership 3yrs ago. Hyundai of seattle should have a full record of this issue. Recently then, our car shows similar issues. The car is slow to accelerate from stop to go. Does not pick up accelerations when you step on the gas. On inclined or climb, engine has a hard time and seems to shake a bit then steady itself after 2 mins as you step in the gas to keep it in motion.

I cannot accelerate into traffic. There is a hesitation in the accelerator. Sometimes nothing happens, sometimes it chugs first then goes. I have trouble merging and getting into traffic. It is unreliable from a stationary to movement.

When accelerating from an idle position, car struggles to shift gears automatically. When making a turn, usually left turn, vehicle stalls and struggles to accelerate making it very dangerous.

My vehicle stalls when I hit the gas. Has trouble switching gears.
