36 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2019

My daughter has a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. She has taken it to the dealership a few times because when she steps on the gas it does not wanna go. I'm afraid she is gonna her in an accident with her vehicle not want to move when it is stuck in an intersection. I really feel that they need to look at it and check it again because there is definitely something wrong with it. It always feels like it wants to stall out and just does not want to go anywhere. Thank you this has happened more than once it happens every single time she drives her car.

37 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2019

While my vehicle was in motion, driving down a mountain highway at approx. 40 mph the rpm revved up to 5 rpm and would not come down even when coming to a complete stop and putting it into park. I also have constant hesitation with the engine when stopping at a light in town and then moving forward from a complete stop. The car jerks and their is delay to go when pressing the gas pedal after being stopped at a light. The car will at times not go into reverse when trying to back out of a parking space. I have found that when this happens I have to completely put car in park and turn the car off, then restart the car and put it into reverse before I can back it out successfully.

38 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2019

The car when at a stop, you go to press the gas pedal to take off and there is a delay in the car actually acknowledging and taking off to accelerate. It has happened a few times periodically and it is now becoming more frequent.

39 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2019

I've owned my 2016 Hyundai Tucson for less then 1 month now. On 3 occassions after coming to a stop and trying to accelerate the gas pedal seems to fail. My rpms go up but the vehicle doesn't accelerate until pushing the gas pedal 3 times or more very hard. My vehicle only has 30k miles on it. I will be bringing it to the dealership. This is very dangerous especially when turning and on coming traffic is coming but the vehicle won't move. This could potentially kill me if struck while merging on to the freeway. I'm now afraid to drive and fear for my safety. A recall should be made out to pull these off the roads!!.

40 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2019

Bought certified 2016 Hyundai Tucson turbo ltd with eco and dual clutch transmission. I've had it for 5 days. I bought it for my son and daughter to attend high school. The car kept acting like it was going to stall at every stop, it kept stuttering, and when you are accelerating and take your foot off the pedal the rpms keep rising, and doesn't switch gears. It refs and rpm goes up but it doesn't switch gears up or down shift either. The engine revs high and won't switch gears. It's like it wants to accelerate when you want it to slow down and when stopped it wants to stall. Today it happened. We came to a stop so we could turn left onto an onramp on highway, (have to cross over other lane to go on on ramp), and it stuttered and stalled on opposite oncoming traffic side, before we could reach the ramp. My son was driving and I was in front seat and daughter was in back seat, I got scared, as you can't see what coming over the hill on side we stalled (oncoming traffic). The guy saw we had stalled and ran out and started waving something down. It was an oncoming semi. Thankfully he was able to redirect him or we would have been struck. We got the car started again and were able to get home. I looked up what had happened and saw that there was a mass recall of my exact car model, in the exact time frame of vehicle being made. The recall was for the exact things that are and did happen to us. I contacted the dealer and asked them why they never divulged this information and they said the didn't know. I read on the NHTSA site that my exact SUV, made the same date, Hyundai had recalled, but mine for some reason is not. Problem is when I put my VIN in, nothing comes up for a recall. I don't want to put my kids back in this car. I just dropped $24,000 5 days ago in a car loan. Please help.

41 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

Even after reprogramming of my 2016 Tucson dual clutch transmission (dct), I still worry about the safety of the car. Transmission is still herky-jerkey when creeping along in traffic. On a couple of occasions at higher speed (say merging into traffic at 50-70 mph) the transmission has been slow to change gears, and on at least one occasion the transmission temporarily went into a "neutral' state temporarily disconnected from power transfer from the engine. If that were to happen say when crossing traffic it could be very dangerous.

42 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

Tl-the contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that when she accelerated from a stopped position the vehicle would hesitate. The vehicle would then completely stop with the accelrator pedel pressed down then lurch forward at a very fast speed then go back to a normal speed. The dealer williams Hyundai 2845 e saginaw st, lansing, mi 48912 517-484-1341 stated that the vehicle had a dual clutch system and the hesitation was a normal reaction of the vehicle. The manufactuer stated that she could either get rid of the vehicle or live with the issue. There was nothing they could do. The failure mileage was 35,000. Tf.

43 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2018

Once per day, while driving on flat ground, the car displays the message "steep grade! press brake pedal" (page 5-20 in the owners manual). When this happens, the car completely dies and can not accelerate. I have to put my hazards on and coast to the side of the road! this is extremely dangerous! I have taken it to the dealership 3 times, however they claim they cannot reproduce it. The problem happens for me once per day! I opened a case with Hyundai corporate but the case is open and unresolved because the problem is intermittent and only happens once per day. An intermittent problem is still a safety hazard, especially when it causes the driver to lose the ability to control the vehicle! it is a safety issue that could directly cause an accident. The NHTSA needs to be aware of this and Hyundai and their dealerships need to take ownership and make corrective actions before someone gets seriously injured by this defect. I have a video of the issue occurring that I'm happy to share as well.

44 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at slower speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted and driven to his destination. The vehicle was taken on several occasions to world car Hyundai north (12908 interstate 35 north bldg 2, san antonio, TX 78233, (210) 667-2189) and the vehicle was rebooted 3 times for an unknown system failure. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

45 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

When starting from a full stop the car hesitates for 3 to 5 seconds before moving; making it unreliable and dangerous to pull out. When driving slowly in traffic or in a parking lot the car becomes very jerky as if running out of gas. This has happened since the day we bought it. Took it into the dealer ship to be checked out they test drove it and checked it out and said it is working the way that it should. We have lost our confidence in this car and feel that this is a safety issue. This is not acceptable,.

46 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2018

My car has difficulty accelerating (7x), inability to reverse (2x), and a transmission error that limits my speed (2x). Trouble accelerating is present in all cases. I bought the car new in October 2015, and a recall on the dual clutch transmission (dct) was done in February 2016. The recall was to fix a known problem of the car's inability to accelerate after repeatedly pressing and releasing the accelerator. The problems started in may 2016 after the software update. I took my car to Hyundai and was told it was a normal operation of dct. In December 2016, the second part of the dct software update was done. Once the warmer weather came, my car had the same issues in April 2017, June 2017 (taken to dealer, update), September 2017, three times in October 2017 (taken to dealer, normal), and twice in may 2018. All occurrences were in warm weather (77 degrees to 82 degrees) after the car had been sitting outside all day. Prior to October, all incidences were trouble accelerating after stopping in traffic on the highway. However, one incident in October is also when my car wouldn't reverse, and the other had a transmission error that would not allow me past 51mph. For the second occurrence in may, the car was driven for about two miles, stopped at a store parking lot with the ac running for about five minutes, then had difficulty accelerating, the transmission error appeared again at 32mph limiting my speed, and I could not reverse. I called the dealership and drove the car to them. The mechanic believed my issue and did not want to drive it. My car has been into the dealer five times, and I was just told that my car is acting normally. They are ready to release the car to me; however, I have stressed the safety issue and refuse to take the car back. This car is not reliable and could cause an accident with injury or death. I filed a complaint with Hyundai corporate.

47 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2018

I had been driving my 2016 Hyundai, Tucson, for over 5 hours on highway. After taking a break, and returning back to highway, my car suddenly began accelerating from my 60mph speed to over 80mph. I took my foot off gas pedal and tapped brake pedal. The brake pedal hit the floor with no resistance, as the car continued to accelerate. After successfully pulling car off highway, I applied emergency brake to stop car. After having it towed to nearest Hyundai dealer, they were unable to duplicate problem, and told me there was nothing wrong. The car is routinely in for service.

48 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2018

When the vehicle is stationary (example: I come to a stop at a stop sign or stop light) then try to move again, the car won't move and there is a lull when I give it gas. This is a dangerous problem with the dual clutch transmission. The engine "revs" but the car wouldn't move after coming to a stop. I have had a few instances where I become stuck in the middle of the road for a minute.

49 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2017

When changing the car from reverse to drive it bucks/shudders (not every time, but frequently enough to be concerning). When first put into drive after sitting all day it'll boost forward and shudder and continue to do that if you roll along at slow speeds. Sometime if you are turning and press the gas it will either not move quickly enough or suddenly boost forward. Dealer has reset boost sensor, replaced boost sensor, and replaced terminal boost sensor plugs into. I'm still experiencing this issue.

50 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2017

This SUV is incredibly dangerous. The dct(dual clutch transmission) does not engage correctly and will buck and stall when trying to accelerate from a slow down or stop. I have had to slam my foot on the gas and it will still not engage timely or safely. It was brought in for a recall but the issue continues . The dealership states there is no other fix for this. I have been beeped at by other drivers that had to swerve to get out of my way so they didn't hit me when the car does this. I have literally been in an intersection when this happens, and then the car will just take off. I barely drive the car anymore because of. This. I am afraid for our lives. My friends and family refuse to drive anywhere with this car because it is so unsafe. I have contacted Hyundai. Waiting on resolution, but these cars have so many complaints they need to remove the 2016 tuscan from the road. This is seriously dangerous. This is my 6th Hyundai and I love buying Hyundai but never again if this is not resolved. This has been happening since I bought it in November of 2016.

51 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2017

When starting from a complete stop or stationary, the car hesitates, almost seems to choke, and then lurches forward with a burst when trying to enter into traffic. It is hard to anticipate whether it will move or not when trying to pull out into traffic from a stop sign. Once moving the car seems to operate and accelerate without any problem. This issue was noted in an earlier recall (August 2016). A software "fix" was implemented. Immediately afterward, I felt there was some small noticeable positive change. However, any early indication of improvement has now been lost. It is deeply concerning that the car may choose to go or not when trying to pull out into traffic. This happens extremely often - almost daily. While I selected a date of occurrence below, it was only to satisfy the form's requirements.

52 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2017

The car has had several issues since I got it brand new off the lot, however the biggest issues is with the transmission. I currently have 35k miles on the car and the issues are coming more frequent. The biggest issue is the hesitate and lurch problem. You can be on an incline or just trying to go across an intersection when it happens. You press the gas, the car hesitates as the gears change and you slowly roll out into the street, then the car lurches you forward. I came within a few inches of hitting the bumber of another car after I was lurched forward. There seems to be no reason or pattern behind this. It just happens randomly. The whole car shakes as this happens, so bad that even passengers can feel it.

53 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2017

Dual clutch transmission, will not accelerate, pauses while stopped, in motion, in traffic, on street city and highway. There is no repair other than an update. Hyundai refuses, yes refuses, to fix my car and provide a repair order. Tried taking my car in for the umpteenth time. They will not provide me with a repair order because there is no repair for the dual clutch transmission. So when I filed with the bbb and with Hyundai, Hyundai refused to take my car back claiming I did not have any repair orders. Hyundai locations such as edwards in iowa and woodhouse in omaha have not documented all of my cars issues nor have they any proof of my being there other than two times. I have taken my car in numerous times, well over 5 times anyway!! the bbb requires documentation of service, but I can't get ahold of the documentation because Hyundai has not done their job to document my cars service. I'm growing extremely tired of Hyundai and wouldn't wish this car on anyone! I still can't accelerate, my car broke down the other day, and nothing is getting better with being serviced. I'm a single parent working part time and going to school, I am tired of having to take this piece of crap in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

54 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2017

Occasionally, on a city street at stop signal or stop sign, vehicle fails to accelerate from a stop as gas pedal is pressed. Revs to high rpm's, and as transmission catches up, the vehicle lunges forward violently, nearly causing rear end collision on several different occasions. Continues to happen after two separate recall/dct program updates with Hyundai dealer.

55 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2017

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson after the transmission recall, continues to have intermittent no acceleration from a stop / rolling stop. Rpms will increase but it will be 3-5 seconds before the transmission engages when the issue does occur. The car then jolts forwards because of the high rpms. I have had multiple near misses due to this. This problem has the potential to be life threatening and is completely unsafe.

56 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2017

There are several problems. The dual clutch an automated manual transmission on my 1. 6-liter turbo version hesitates up to several seconds when accelerating, this can occur when turning, accelerating from a full stop, moving at a slow speed 1-5mph. The tachometer revs up but the car stays stationary. This happens multiple times a week. The scariest time was when I was attempting to merge on the highway and the car did not accelerate and cars had to swerve to avoid hitting me. . Additionally if you are in bumper to bumper traffic inching along, it hesitates to accelerate and when it finally does, you're afraid you will hit the car in front of you. I have found when inching along 1-5 mph during rush hour traffic that I must leave 1-2 car lengths in front of me due to the lurching and hesitation. Supposedly the recall in September 2016 fixed this issue but it did not. When I contacted Hyundai motor company headquarters, they told me the car is working as designed. So they designed it to lurch and not accelerate? doesn't seem right to me. I have documentation of my contacts with the local dealer and corporate, but not with me today.

57 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2017

Same complaint as before they cannot duplicate at dealership. There is not a recall on this VIN number even though it was manufactured during the dates of the recall I found out. I am seriously thinking about hiring a lawyer because I do not want a car that is not safe for my grandchildren. This time again would not accelerate when going into traffic. It is very terrifying.

61 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2017

The contact leased a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. Within two years of owning the vehicle, the accelerator pedal was applied and the vehicle was slow to gain speed. The dealer indicated that there was an unknown manufacturer recall and provided a software update. However, months later, the condition continued intermittently and more frequently. The dealer (courtesy Hyundai, 939 newport Ave, pawtucket, ri 02861 (401) 622-1295) was notified of the failure, test drove the vehicle, and indicated that it was a known issue from the manufacturer. The dealer had not yet developed a solution. The dealer indicated that the vehicle was not included in any manufacturer recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

62 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2016

I just purchased a Hyundai Tucson and it's not accelerating properly. It doesn't respond when you press the gas. I've had this vehicle for 1 week and it's getting worse. I'm scared this vehicle is not safe and may cause me to be in an accident.

63 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2016

My Tucson will randomly not accelerate when the gas pedal is pushed. I am constantly in fear to pull out in traffic because it frequently will not move and then will lurch forward into traffic. I have had a recall performed twice and the issue is still ongoing. The dealer stated they didn't know what was wrong. I am concerned for the safety of my family. In addition, this week the vehicle made a loud popping noise in the front end and now their is vibration in the steering and what feels like a wobble under the front pedals.

64 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2016

Intermittent acceleration issues. Upon trying to accelerate from a stop or very slow roll, the car starts to go but will not accelerate or will shutter upon acceleration. This is a dangerous situation if one is trying to merge into traffic or cross an intersection. The transmission has been replaced but the problem continues.

65 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2016

When accelerating from a stop, the vehicle has a delayed acceleration. This has happened to me multiple times even after the NHTSA recall campaign number 16v-628 has been applied (reprogramming of the dct module).

66 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2016

I took my 2016 Tucson into the dealership on 9/23/2016 to address the dual clutch transmission recall. Prior to that, my Tucson would randomly jerk, not accelerate when pressing on the accelerator, and the rpms would go haywire. Now, 10/12/2016, after I took it in for a recall, I am still experiencing the same issue. It's happened once in slow traffic, and just this morning on the highway on my way to work. This time however, the Tucson's rpms went from the 2x area to the 4x area without provocation, causing the Tucson to drastically accelerate, almost causing me to rear end someone. This was without me manually accelerating. At this point, I feel like I'm driving a deathtrap and am utterly disappointed that Hyundai has done nothing to truly correct this issue.

67 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2016

10/12/brought in for recall of dct after calling to schedule a service to address the transmission not accelerating properly and hesitating to change gears. 12/29/16. Returned for same issue with transmission. Service performed a 2nd recall on an upgrade to transmission for same issue. 2/23/17 returned again for same issue. No maintenance performed. Stated that all was functioning properly and that is how a dct should respond. 4/25/17. Returned again for same issue. Stated no problems exists. Engineer was going to be contacted to perform test drive and further investigate issues. Engineer contacted and refused to come and perform test drive. 4/26/ contacted Hyundai consumer affairs (complain #10185159). Case manager assigned. Stated I would hear within 3-5 days. Never heard. 4/28/ after speaking with an attorney, sent a certified letter to Hyundai 112 vehicle and wanting to terminate lease b/c they can't fulfill safety and repairs. (heard back from fran in service. . . No recourse offered) 5/4/ contacted consumer affairs for a 2nd time. No results. Left message for case manager and her manager. 5/4/ spoke to fran (112 Hyundai) waiting to hear of appointment with engineer. 5/10/ contacted by claims to schedule an appointment on 5/18 with engineer and regional manager. 5/18/ prior to test drive, engineer claimed there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and that the transmission was designed to perform as it was. Completed test drive with engineer while he provided tips of how to properly drive with a dct and how the vehicle was designed with the hesitation known. 5/27/contacted a private transmission specialist regarding hesitation/jerking of transmission. Provided a test drive and it was agreed that the transmission was hesitating and jerking when trying to accelerate which is not normal.

68 Vehicle Speed Control problem
